Sorry about the lack of updates but my school work is beginning to get serious and grow in number and as that comes first updates may slow down, sorry.
We are nearing the end of the story now, probably only 4 more chapters left including the epilogue so I will try and make the remaining chapters amazing!
Sleep
WPOV
Sleep. Sleep blocks your mind from everything around you. Sleep blocks you from all the bad happening to you. Sleep blocks you from your loved ones. Sleep stopped him from getting near his loved one and knowing one was back.
It still hadn't finally hit me, when I was sat in the waiting room waiting for Lily to emerge, how much everything had changed in the last day. All my friends had forgiven me for abounding when they most needed it. However not all of the events that had filled my day had been that happy, but they were undeserved just the same. Wes had been attack by the Souls. They should be coming after me, not the innocent ones that I loved. I knew this was just the beginning of something which could throw my whole world off it's hinges.
I was drawn out of my world of dark thoughts and regrets by Lily footsteps approaching us. All of us turned quickly to face her. Her face was still stained with tears, some fresh, some old, but she didn't seem as depressed as before, in fact the look of worry that had been present in her expression before had been replaced by a look of longing to have her boyfriend back to a healthy state where he could actually talk to her again.
"How is he?" Mel asked, the first to break the silence that had hung in the room since Lily re entered it.
"Pretty battered and bruised, but alive" she replied, a relived smile managing to make it's way onto her tear stained face.
"Can we go see him?" Jared asked, obviously concerned for his dear friend's well being.
"Sure" Lily said as she moved aside and gestured to the room. "I'm going to stay here though, I need to think about some things" she added as we got up to go see Wes.
As we stepped into the room out of the corner of my eye I saw Lily jump up, her hand clasped over her mouth and dash towards the toilet. A part of me was curious as to what would make her act like that but I shook it off as I stepped through the door.
I was immediately taken aback by the sight that greeted me. Wes, who had usually seemed so strong and fearless to me was just lying limply on the bed, no trace of the person he was before left. He had small cuts and bruises littering his body though the full extent of injuries was hidden beneath the sheets but the bandage round his head was extremely prominent. I must have stumbled back quite sharply because I could feel Ian's hands on my hips steadying me.
The four of us stood there for quite some time, none of us really knowing what to say or what to do. A tense silence hung in the room which was only broken by a small knock on the door. I turned to open it to see Lily stood in the doorway, her face pale.
"Lily are you ok?" I asked, worried by her appearance.
"Yeah, I'm fine, I just came to warn you that visiting hours are over soon and in about a minute a scary nurse will come and make you leave" she explained forcing a smile onto her face.
When she finished speaking we all neatly filed out of the room and stood in a small circle outside.
"We should get going, it's been a long day" Ian said, breaking the tense silence. He tried to sound like it was a bad thing to leave but I could tell how awkward he felt here, surrounded by people he hadn't met till today. People gave small good byes and acknowledgements that they should leave to as we all left the hospital.
I had already got into the car when Ian's phone rang. When he answered it his voice sounded happy for one of the first times today. He seemed to be agreeing to something before he hung up after saying he would see someone later.
"Who was that?" I asked as he climbed into the car next to me.
"My brother, Kyle. Actually I need to ask you about something to do with him" he explained, turning to look at me before continuing, when I nodded he spoke on. "Kyle is getting married in two weeks and he and his fiancée made a deal to spend the last two weeks before there wedding apart so I said he could come and stay with us, that's ok right?" he asked, turning to look at me.
"When is he arriving?" I asked, hoping I would have time to transform the apartment from the current state it was in.
"The word is did, he already arrived. He's there now" Ian said quickly as if saying the words quickly would lessen the shock that passed through me. Seeing my widened eyes he began to elaborate about how Kyle was presumptuous and annoying but I stopped him before he got into a full blown rant about him.
"Don't worry it's fine I was just surprised" I told him, trying to assure him that everything was ok.
"Are you sure? It's just with everything that's happened today if you want me to kick him out I will" the mention of the days events brought the Souls to the forefront of my mind.
"You know he's in danger to" I mumbled, hoping Ian wouldn't get angry about the extent that my mistakes were endangering people around him.
"I know" he replied simply as he reverse out of the parking space. "But he's my brother, I can't turn him down" he added, his face still angled away from me looking out of the back window.
"It''s fine" I told him, I understood where he was coming from, if Jamie were still here, I would do everything for him too.
"You go on up, I need to get the camp bed out of storage" Ian explain, gesturing for me to go on without him. Gingerly, I left him, and headed to the apartment, scared to face the first person I had met from Ian's life. Come to think of it, I had hardly met anyone Ian knew. No friends or family. I knew he went out with them some nights but I had never met any of them. Maybe that would all change the up coming wedding, if I was invited.
When I opened the door I realised immediately what a terrible state the apartment had descended into over the past week that I had been locked in my room. Piles of empty plates and glasses has accumulated all over the place and rubbish was strewn across the place. The only difference was the man sat on the couch, watching the TV which had been put on way to loud for my liking. As soon as he heard the door close his head whipped around and I saw for the first time how much Ian resembled his brother. They both had the same dark hair, only Kyle's was shaggier where he had allowed it to grow out of control, the same deep blue eyes and the same facial features, only Kyles nose was slightly twisted from what I assumed was numerous breaks.
Upon seeing me stood there he turned the TV off, stood up and walked towards me, extending his hand for me to shake.
"Hello, I'm assuming your Ian's girlfriend who he has been talking about" he asked, we shock hands.
"yeah, Wanda Stryder" I answered, relived that Kyle not only had the same looks as Ian but also the same friendly personality.
"Nice to meet you Wanda, I'm Kyle O'Shea, though I'm guessing you already knew that" he responded, a wide smile taking over his expression. Though before either of us could continue a long string of curses emitted from the hall. "I'll go and see what that is about" Kyle sighed, leaving me in the room alone.
I had began to pick up the rubbish when Ian and Kyle eventually pulled an old camp bed through the door.
"Sorry about the wait, Ian couldn't get the bed up the stairs" Kyle explained, patting Ian on the head as he did so, allowing me for the first time to see the obvious hight gap between the two brothers. Ian being the shorter of the two by half a head.
"I could, I was just having some difficulties" Ian grumbled, crossing his arms like a grumpy child.
"Of course" Kyle replied patronisingly, making me finally realise that I had two weeks of behaviour like this.
Woo! Kyle!
