Getting out of the fire nation proved to be a lot easier than getting in. no one tried to chase you, to be honest you didn't even see another fire navy ship.

You did see the avatar's bison flying overhead. You watched Zuko's gaze follow the motley group until they were out of site. 'I'm proud of him, he cares more about our safety than capturing Aang' you thought brightly.

By nightfall you were back on the ship. According to Zuko's plans you were heading up the earth kingdom coast and eventually into water tribe waters.

The days passed slowly and you fell into routine, sleep late, take a shower, eat, train your firebending with Zuko, have tea with Iroh and so on. Life at sea just doesn't work for you, you miss the excitement of exploring the woods, and here you can only explore the same rooms over and over. Though you almost always find something new in Iroh's storage room, he has so much junk.

Today is bright and sunny; the sea is calm and your laying out on deck. The feeling of the warm sun on your skin is nice. Normally you're not the type to go out tanning, not that you ever tan, you're always pale, but once in a while it's nice. Besides you're board waiting to train with Zuko, he's busy sparring with a crewmember.

(Zuko)

You can't fight while Kana is laying there, she looks so peaceful. The sun on her pale skin reminds you of the first time you saw her. She seemed to glow.

Then you got punched in the face. You growled in annoyance.

"Prince Zuko are you alright? Maybe we shouldn't spar anymore. You seem distracted," a concerned crewmember said honestly.

You shook your head, glancing all ninja-like at kana then got back into your fighting stance. "No, lets continue" you said.

As soon as those words left your mouth the ship lurched towards shore. Kana sat up and gave you a confused face, which you returned with an equally confused face.

(Kana)

"Why are we changing course" you asked as you stood up and Zuko walked towards you.

"I don't know" Zuko replied dryly.

The two of you ran up to the control room where you found Iroh playing pai sho with two older crewmembers as well as the helmsmen.

"This is mutiny! No one told you to change course," Zuko yelled in anger.

"Actually Prince Zuko I told him to head to the nearest port" Iroh said as he won the game of pai sho.

"And why would you do that Uncle" Zuko asked wearily, he's obviously getting tired of his Uncle's detours.

"Well you see I lost my lotus tile not many people see the strategic possibilities but it is vital to my strategy" Iroh replied as if the lotus tile was the cure for cancer. You didn't see what the big deal about the lotus tile was, your mom would freak if she ever lost hers.

Zuko was about to yell something he was going to regret later, so you swiftly covered his mouth with your hand. "Relax Zuko, I'm sure we'll be on the avatar's trail soon" you said out loud, then whispered "besides I can really use a break I miss trees and solid land"

Zuko stormed off as he tried to calm down. you followed him but you kept a slight distance, knowing that when he's finished being pissed off he'll come to you.

You soon found yourself back on deck waiting for Zuko and for the ship to be docked. You sat back and rested in the warm sun. You began to daydream about how much your life has changed. You've gone from having your brothers by your side and spending your free time by the cherry blossom tree in your clearing to constantly worry about your brothers with Zuko as your only comfort. You couldn't help but worry for Kaito and Daisuke's safety. In your heart you knew they were fine but your mind wanted physical proof.

"Kana its time to go" you heard Zuko say. You opened your eyes to see his outstretched arm waiting to help you up. "Are you ok?" he asked as you took his hand.

"I was just thinking" you replied softly. Zuko gazed at you a few more seconds as if trying to read your mind, but he soon nodded.

The two of you wandered the streets of the small town, Zuko asking about the avatar and you about your brothers. There was no sign of any of them.

You couldn't help but window shop a bit. Its been a while since you've gotten a new outfit but you didn't bother, you didn't want to act spoiled besides its not like you had any money.

As you made your way back to the ship with Zuko, you ran into Iroh and half of the crew helping him hall all the useless junk he bought, onto the ship.

"I've checked all the shops on this pier and not one has a lotus tile in the entire market." Iroh complained.

'Its good to know this trip was a complete waste of everyone's time" zuko said in annoyance. You honestly thought steam was going to come out of his ears, which on occasion it does, but it didn't this time.

"Quite the contrary, I always say the only thing better than finding something your looking for is finding something you're not at a great bargain." Iroh said brightly as the crew passed by carrying a wide array of junk. You laughed at how Zuko's temper never bothered Iroh. Zuko shot you a look and you stopped giggling while he looked at you but continued a few seconds later when he wasn't looking.

"You bought a tsugi horn?" Zuko asked in confusion.

"I hate those," you mumbled.

"For music night on the ship" Iroh replied "now only if we found some woodwinds" he mused.

Zuko slapped himself in the face and you sighed.

A peculiar ship/shop caught Iroh's eye. You've never met an old man who loved shopping as much as Iroh. You and zuko followed the elderly shopaholic into the shop.

You didn't like the looks of this shop at all; it looked like one that raided your village a few years ago.

"Pirates" you heard Zuko mumbled under his breath.

You overheard two of the pirates talking about a stolen waterbending scroll and a bald monk with airbender tattoos. That caught Zuko's attention. He started to walk over to the shady looking pirates, but you grabbed his wrist. Zuko turned and gave you a questioning look.

"Zuko, I don't like this at all" you voiced your concern and tried not to let him know of your slight fear.

"Don't worry about it," Zuko said but from his tone of voice you knew it really meant that your concern didn't matter. When it came to the avatar or his honor, your fears just don't matter.

Zuko pulled away from you and made a deal with the pirates, you looked down sadly wishing he would listen.
