Chapter 26
Bella's POV
Time has slipped from our hands. Being a senior is really stressing, having a boyfriend is stressing too, but having Edward Cullen as your boyfriend has many benefits. One of them is having someone to rely on when you feel your life is about to collapse. I know that friends are supposed to support you and listen to you, but let's say that my friends are not that reliable. So Edward's been there for me since we first met. Last month I was on the edge, I felt my life was improving then Edward had a car accident. I should have been there for him more, but I just couldn't. I tried to always be there for him but it wasn't possible. He was very supportive when I told him how I was feeling; he even went with me to the first sessions with Dr. Ellison.
I was stubborn and I refused to go to a psychologist, but after a couple of sessions I was feeling happier.
Edward was getting better too, his cast was removed a couple of days ago. Now he's going to physical therapy and he was also doing the exercises at home. I'm really happy that he can use both of his arms. I've missed his embrace. Our relationship has evolved into something bigger and better. We're even talking about living together in university; my parents are not that thrilled about it.
Now I have to worry about prom. Angela and Jessica went dress shopping without me; I guess that was something good. I can imagine them gossiping behind my back while I was trying on a dress. Luckily, I have Alice's expertise to rely on. She insisted on being my fashion adviser and I just couldn't say no to her. Today I'm going to try more dresses for prom, I have tried fifteen dresses and none of them have make Alice happy and to be honest, I agree with her. I'm not a girly girl but for important events I like to dress up to the occasion.
After hours of looking for the right dress, I finally found it. It's an A-line purple dress, with a straight neckline. It's simple yet beautiful and elegant. The silk and chiffon contrasts beautifully and add drama to the dress. After purchasing the dress we decided to take a break and wander around the mall window shopping. Some minutes later I can't stop looking at a showcase, I've found the perfect gift for Edward.
I asked Alice to keep the secret and she pinky promised me she would. Then we bought the shoes to go with the dress and a small purse too.
When I get home I'm exhausted, shopping with Alice is like going to a marathon. My feet hurt, so I decide to take a bath to relax.
Edward's POV
Alice's been very secretive lately. I can tell when she's keeping something from me, maybe it's about the dress that Bella chose or maybe there's something else she's not telling me. I decide not to pry. Whatever she's keeping from me must be important for Bella, so I'm respecting her decision and I'll be patient and wait for the surprise.
Bella told me she was wearing purple to prom so I can get a proper corsage for her. I'm not allowed to drive because I'm still recovering from the accident, so I rented a limousine. Mom insisted to share it with Emmett and Rosalie. I hope Bella understands it. Alice insisted to be my stylist for prom; I had no other choice but to oblige. Now I understand what Bella meant about being "tortured" by Alice.
It's been fun but I recognize that my sister can be obnoxious at times. The results are better than I expected, she really knows what she's doing. According to Alice, I'm wearing a designer black suit, a fitted white cotton shirt, slim black tie, leather belt and black leather shoes. I'm not sure about wearing too much black, so I decided to buy a slim purple tie to match Bella's dress.
I tried calling Bella to tell her the time we're picking her up, but the line is busy. I guess her friends are looking for details about her dress. Angela seems nice but Jessica seems to be too nice at times, she thinks she's good at pretending but I can see right through her real intensions. I like to keep a distance when she's around; I know Bella does that too.
I send Bella a message telling her we'll pick her at six o'clock. I wait for her reply, I guess she's busy getting ready.
I take a shower and shave then I get dressed. There's a knock on the door.
"May I come in?" Alice chirps.
"Sure. What do you think?" I stand still expecting her close examination. She looks pleased but gasps as she sees the purple tie. A whirlwind is coming.
"Edward Cullen! What have you done?" I knew it; maybe the purple tie was a bad idea.
"I just wanted to see how it'd look. I'll change it."
"Are you crazy? I'm proud of you, I can't believe I didn't think of it. It matches Bella's dress." Alice looks very happy she's almost in tears.
"Alice, what's wrong? Why are you crying? I know I'm not a runway model, but I'm sure I don't look that bad either. You did a great job." I try to comfort her.
"I'm so happy for you Edward. I'm really proud of you. I'd love to see you and Bella together, so take lots of pictures, you hear me?" She hugs me and then she sprints backwards.
"Sorry. I don't want to mess up with your suit." She says as she wipes the tears with the back of her hand.
"Come here, you goofball." I know she hates that nickname, but she comes forward anyway. I hold her by the waist and turn her around, she chirps and laughs.
"Edward, your arm! Are you crazy?" She protests and I let her go. She's right, I've forgotten I'm still recovering, but I missed carrying my younger sister.
Alice leaves my room and I grab Bella's corsage. I check my cell phone but there aren't messages from Bella. That's weird, I'll try to call her on our way to her house. The limo would be here in a couple of minutes. I decide to wait in the living room. As I descend the stairs mom starts taking pictures.
"Mom, what are you doing?"
"I just need to take pictures of my beautiful sons. I'm so proud of you. I wish I could go and see Bella's dress, I bet she looks flawless. Promise me you'll take lots and lots of pictures."
"I will." I get closer to her and hug her. Dad comes out of the kitchen with a tray containing five glasses of a sparkly liquid.
"Emmett, Alice! Come here, we need to toast."
"Dad, I'm taking some painkillers, I don't think I can…" I'm interrupted before I can finish what I was about to say.
"Don't worry son, this is a non-alcoholic drink."
He hands one glass to each of us. Dad is really happy. He's not someone that expresses his emotions openly, I know this should be hard for him.
"To my amazing sons. I'm very proud of you. I'm grateful to have you in my life; I'm honor to be your father." He raises his glass and we all toast and drink the cold and delicious drink.
Just in cue the limo driver honks the horn.
"Just one more picture." Mom sets the camera in automatic and we pose for the picture. We say our goodbyes. Mom adjusts my tie and kiss me on the cheek.
"Have fun and be careful."
"I will, mom."
A/N: You'll know more of the prom in next chapter.
