Lucy paced the small waiting room nervously, careful not to step on her dress train that trailed behind her. Her heart beat fast in her chest as the time was nearing. She looked over to the small desk and saw herself in the mirror. She smiled and blushed slightly as she looked herself over in her wedding gown. Her brown eyes traveled down and noticed a small pad of paper and pen lying on top of the desk. She made her way over to the wooden desk and sat down, taking the pen in hand. She began to smile as she started to write.
'Hey Mom, it's been a while…A lot has happened since last I wrote to you. Loke quit his solo career, Levy was in a coma for so long and now she's come back to us. And now, Loke and I finally are getting married. It seems so weird to be saying that after everything that has happened. We actually moved the wedding date back further so we could have our baby. Which Loke's hunch was right, as usual. We had a baby boy. He's just over a year old now, and mom, you wouldn't believe how much he looks like Loke. Minus the blonde hair that is. We named him Leo after Loke's stage name. Oh, I forgot to mention… Juvia had gotten pregnant around the same time I did so she just recently had another child as well. A girl who they named Rain. She's the same age as Leo and I swear I've never seen Juvia and Gray so happy. Gajeel and Levy wasted no time in trying to get pregnant again, and guess what? It's finally happened for them. Levy just found out a few days ago she is going to have another child. I'm so happy for her, and for the rest of my friends.'
Lucy smiled as a tear fell down her cheek.
'I wish you could be here with me mom. You and dad. I've struggled so much over the years, but I always seem to bounce back. I have you two to thank for that. You both taught me so much when I was growing up…. It just would have been nice to have dad walk me down the aisle, with you sitting in the front row. Both looking on as your little girl gets married.'
Lucy looked up from her paper she was writing on at the knock on the door. She turned her head and smiled as she saw Levy and Juvia waiting for her in their brides' maids' dresses.
"Lu! There you are! Everyone is seated and are waiting for you! Your wedding is supposed to start in five minutes you know!" Levy said with a bright smile as she made her way over to her friend with Juvia.
"What are you doing Lucy?" Juvia asked as she looked over Lucy's shoulder. Lucy turned back to the papers on the desk.
"Oh, this? I was just writing to mom. I haven't done it in a while and well… I just wish they both could have been here to help me through this. I'm so nervous… and scared…" Lucy's eyes began to swell with tears at the thought of her deceased parents came into her mind.
Her eyes opened widely as she felt Juvia wrap her arms around her. Levy joined in on the other side of Juvia, both hugging Lucy tightly.
"We are your family now, Lucy." Juvia said softly.
"Yeah Lu! Haven't you figured that out by now?!" Levy chimed in cheerfully.
Lucy closed her eyes as she smiled, placing her hands over her friend's arms and gripping them both lightly.
"I know. And I thank you guys. You don't know how much you all mean to me."
Levy and Juvia smiled back at Lucy as they stood back up and giggled. Lucy looked to both of them as she spoke.
"I'll be down in a minute, I just want to finish up my letter."
Juvia and Levy nodded as they left the room, leaving Lucy alone once more. The blonde mage turned her attention back to the papers and picked her pen back up.
'But you know… I think I'll be alright. I've got the best friends I could ever ask for, and I know they will be by my side whenever I need them. I know the road is still going to have its ups and downs for me, but in the end, all I ever really need are my friends.'
"Princess?"
Lucy turned around and gasped slightly. "What.. what are you all doing here?"
Lucy looked to each one of her celestial spirits she had standing behind her in disbelief. Virgo turned her head to the side slightly as she smiled.
"We wanted to be here for you as well, Princess. We are your friends too."
"I just came here to make sure this wasn't something you made up. A stupid girl like you landing a man is hard to believe." Aquarius said with a smirk.
Scorpio shoved his hand forward, extending his thumb, index finger and pinky out as he spoke. "I think what my Bahama mama is trying to say is, we're all here to support you and Loke at your wedding! It's totally wicked!" The spirit gave Lucy a toothy grin as he pulled Aquarius closer to his side with his free hand.
Lucy looked around at the rest of her spirits, her eyes tearing up, and a smile forming across her cheeks. Each one of them had a smile on their face as they looked back at their friend and key holder.
"You guys…"
Capricorn made his way over to Lucy and held out his hand to Lucy, his body leaning in towards her slightly. "If you will let me, Laady Lucy, I will be honored to walk you down the aisle."
Lucy placed her hand into his and smiled as she stood. "Thank you Capricorn. And everyone…. You all are my best friends as well. Thank you so much for being here to support me."
Juvia and Levy watched Lily and Finn as they waited patiently for Lucy to come down the stairs. Lily was in a small white dress decorated with pink flowers and Finn was dressed in a little blue suit. Lily was the flower girl and Finn was the ring bearer. Pantherlily was supposed to be in the seats along with everyone else, but Lily had dragged him with her and demanded he disperse the flowers with her.
Pantherlily knew he wasn't going to be able to get out of it so he went along with her. Juvia looked at the clock behind her, a look of worry came over her face. Levy looked to Juvia then to the clock, smiling without a worry.
"She's not going to get cold feet."
"I know… it's just that… we were supposed to be out there ten minutes ago…"
Levy glanced outside to the small garden outside of her old apartment building. "Well everyone is settling down in their seats finally. I mean, ten minutes really isn't nothing for a wedding."
"I know that… but maybe one of us should go up there and make sure she's ok." Juvia said as she looked to Levy.
"No need. The Laady Lucy is here." Capricorn said as he led Lucy down the stairs from the waiting room. Lucy was wearing a veil over her face, but her red cheeks could still be seen through the thin fabric. Levy and Juvia smiled brightly as they watched her walk down with her spirit. As she made her way to them, she let out a sigh.
Lily let out a gasp as she saw Lucy. "Auntie Lu! You look like a princess! So pretty! Finn doesn't she look pretty?!"
Finn smiled slightly as he nodded his head. "Yeah."
Lucy smiled down at the two children in front of her. "Thank you Lily and Finn. And might I add that you two look absolutely adorable in your outfits too!"
"Mommy said that I look like a princess too! And Finn is my prince! Because he is dressed up too! Right Finn?"
Finn nodded his head once more, agreeing with Lily's every word.
The girls laughed heartedly at Lily and Finn.
"Are you ready Lu?" Levy asked.
Lucy breathed in a deep breath and smiled. "Yes. I think we've kept the guys waiting long enough."
Loke lifted up his sleeve to his suit and checked his watch again. He was getting nervous and everyone could tell. Gray leaned in and whispered.
"Calm down man, it's only been ten minutes. It's not like she ran away or nothing."
Loke looked back at Gray worriedly. "What if she did?! What if she decided she doesn't really want to be with me?! I mean last year I was a total jerk and what if this is just payback!?"
Gray put his hand on Loke's shoulder and smiled. "You see that little guy over there?" He said as he pointed towards the seats where Mira and Makarov sat. They both had a small one year old in their arms. Mira was holding onto Leo, talking happily to Makarov as they waited. Loke saw his son look his way and smile brightly towards his father. Loke could feel his heart melt at the sight of the small boy in Mira's lap. He didn't know what was going on, he only knew that his father was standing a few feet away from him.
"Now how could Lucy just up and leave that?" Loke snapped his head quickly back to Gray, glaring at him. Gray let out a laugh and slapped Loke's shoulder lightly. "And you of course. Look, all I'm sayin' is that Lucy will be here any moment. So stop freaking out about this."
Gray took his spot beside Loke as his best man and placed his arms in front of his body. Gajeel couldn't help but laugh at Loke's panicking. Loke inhaled and exhaled slowly, letting his nerves calm down.
'She'll be here… any moment now…'
Loke's thoughts seemed to come true as the music started up, signaling that the bride was about to enter. His head snapped up to see Lily and Pantherlily walking out first, throwing flower petals out from Lily's basket as they walked. Finn followed Lily, holding onto a small pillow with the rings placed on top.
Juvia and Levy were next to come out. Loke could feel his chest beating faster, knowing Lucy was next to appear. He had not seen her since the night before. He didn't know what she was going to look like in her dress. He wanted so badly to run down the path and walk her up to the alter himself, knowing she didn't have any family to do it for her.
Once Levy and Juvia took their places on the brides side of the alter, they both looked back down the small aisle in between the seats.
Lucy came into view, Capricorn at her side as he walked her down the narrow path. Everyone gasped at the sight of Lucy in her wedding dress. Loke could feel his heart skipping beats as he watched her. To him, she seemed to glide over the white fabric that was placed down over the grass. She looked like an angel. The way she looked was breathtaking for him. He took a few steps towards her, holding out his hand to her as Capricorn gave her away to her future husband, bowing and smiling just before he slowly disappeared back to the spirit world. Loke led her up to the alter, speaking out of the corner of his mouth.
"Cutting it a little close there…"
Lucy giggled and looked over at Loke. "Don't you know that's always our plan? We women like to make our men sweat a little before a wedding."
Loke smiled and turned to face Lucy, taking her other hand into his.
The whole time the pastor spoke, Loke hardly paid any mind to him. His thoughts were on Lucy and only her. She was smiling at him and looking back into his olive-green eyes, a slight blush over her cheeks. The two of them seemed to be lost in their own world as the pastor spoke. Loke ran his thumbs over her fingers as he held her hands in place.
It was Gray who nudged Loke back into reality. Loke shook his head and looked up at the pastor. Everyone around them laughing lightly as the pastor motioned Loke to proceed with the next process of their wedding. Loke smiled and looked back at Lucy.
"I, Loke, choose you, Lucy, to be my wife. You are my best friend, and my lover. We will laugh, play, cry and hurt as one. May Regulus watch over us and give us guidance as we walk hand in hand down the path of happiness and sorrow, and be the adhesive that binds our hearts as one. Lucy, I will love you, protect you, cherish you, and respect you. I will always be faithful and honest. Not only in this life, but long after our souls have left our vacant shells and this physical world has become a distant memory."
Loke let one of Lucy's hands go and turned around to reach for one of the rings Finn was holding onto. He turned back around to face Lucy and held the ring up to her.
"I present this ring to you as a symbol of our union, of faith and love, patience and endurance, and forgiveness, until my last breath. If you would have me, I will be your husband for all times."
Lucy blushed brightly and smiled, nodding her head. Loke smiled and slipped the ring over her finger. Lucy held onto Loke's hands and began to speak.
"Loke, do you remember how we started out as friends all those years ago? Back then, we had no idea that we would end up like this… happy, in love, and married. But even then, I knew you were special, and the day we fell in love was one of the happiest times of my life."
Lucy reached past Loke and picked up the other ring Finn was holding. She took hold of Loke's hand and slipped the ring over his finger.
"From this day forward, I promise you everything with all the love in my heart. I will share your joy and your sorrow. I will support you in good times and in bad. I will cheer for you as you make your way in life. I will remain forever faithful to you, and I will always be here for you, just as you've been here for me for so many years."
Lucy and Loke once more became lost in each other's eyes as the pastor said a few more words. Loke let go of Lucy's hands and lifted up her veil, ignoring the man currently speaking. He looked at his bride and smiled. He wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her in close, taking her lips with his. The man standing in front of them threw his arms up in the air, letting them fall back down to his sides, shaking his head.
Gray and Gajeel laughed as Loke didn't listen to one word the pastor said the whole time. Levy and Juvia smiled on as Loke and Lucy turned around and faced their friends sitting around them. They both started walking down the carpeted path as everyone stood and began to clap. Gajeel leaned in close to Gray and whispered.
"Do you think carrot top realizes that the priest never really announced them as husband and wife?"
Gray smirked as he clapped. "Honestly, I don't think he cares at this point."
Levy and Juvia grabbed Leo and Rain from Mira and Makarov as Gray and Gajeel scooped up Finn and Lily. All of them following the path Loke and Lucy took.
The large group of friends gathered around another section of the garden, waiting for the photographer to get setup. They placed Finn and Lily in the front, while Lucy and Juvia held onto their newborns in the middle of the small group. The men all stood by their wives, holding their arms lightly. Lily gathered up Pantherlily into her arms and squeezed him tightly.
"Look daddy! I'm just like you and mommy!" The young girl said with a smile. Pantherlily let out a soft sigh as Gajeel and Levy laughed.
"Ok everyone, look this way and say cheese!" The photographer said behind the camera. Everyone looked his way and smiled brightly. Lily at the last moment held Pantherlily up in the air and shouted out the word "cheese," causing all of the grown-ups to burst out in laughter right as the photographer took the photo.
Later that night, everyone had moved to the beach for the wedding reception. Everyone was laughing, dancing, and some were even drunk enough to start singing with the band that was hired for the night. Lucy and Loke made their rounds to all of their friends, thanking them, dancing with them, and making sure they were all having a good time.
Once Lucy had a moment to herself, she grabbed her son and ventured away from the large crowd, heading to a quiet spot on the beach. She sat down in her dress and put Leo on her lap, watching him giggle heartedly and reach out for his mother. Lucy leaned in and brushed her nose against his as she smiled. The small child wiggled in her arms excitedly at her touch.
"Enjoying some time away from the party?"
Lucy looked back and saw Loke holding onto his suit jacket over his shoulder.
"Yeah… I just wanted a minute to myself. I didn't realize how exhausting it is to go around and thank people for showing up!"
Loke let out a laugh as he sat down next to Lucy. He reached over and took Leo from her lap, setting his son in his own.
"Yeah… I mean when I was engaged all those years ago, we were getting names for the invites ready to go and boy am I glad we didn't send them out. We would have had to send a lot of cancellation notices."
Lucy giggled as she watched Leo grab Loke's fingers in his tiny hands and move them up and down, sticking one in his mouth occasionally to gnaw on it. The blonde bride ran her hand over the boy's blonde hair, moving in closer to Loke and setting her head on his shoulder.
"I'm just glad this is finally over… just promise me one thing Loke."
Loke raised his brows and looked over at Lucy. "What's that?"
Lucy let out a soft sigh as she closed her eyes, a smile over her face. "Just promise me you won't ever want to go through a divorce. I can't possibly imagine what kind of hellish nightmare that would be!"
Loke smiled and kissed Lucy on the head, taking back his finger so he could wrap an arm around Lucy, hugging her close to his body.
"It'll be you and me, forever and ever, gorgeous."
