chapter 26
It had been four days sense they had gotten there, ruby and sapphire woke up to the baby crying. Sapphire grunting in pain from her stitched up incisions as she started to get up being stopped by ruby "I'll get her she just ate, she should be fine" sapphire nodded laying back down and starting to fall asleep waking again when she heard ruby softly singing "if I could begin to be half of what you think of me I could do about anything I could even learn how to love…" sapphire opened her eyes looking over at ruby singing and rocking luna, the child starting to calm down. Sapphire sat up and listened to ruby singing softly "look at you go I just adore you I wish I knew what makes you think I'm so special." Sapphire walked over to ruby resting her head against her shoulder as ruby put the baby into the cot that luna had been sleeping in. ruby turned around leading sapphire over to the bed, sapphire sat down wrapped in rubys arms. Ruby kissed her four head "do you want to go back to sleep?" sapphire shrugged "I'm just thinking, I can't really sleep" ruby nodded "what about?" sapphire looked up at her "hmm?" ruby looked down "what are you thinking about?" sapphire rested her head on rubys shoulder "everything that happened, us having a kid, lapis doing everything she did, how luna came almost a whole month early. Just everything that has happened in the last nine months" ruby nodded "sapph do you… " she trailed off "do you regret keeping the baby?" sapphire looked down at her lap thinking for a second "no, I know it's going to be hard to raise her but I know we can do it" ruby nodded "we only have a few months left of school until we graduate, and I don't know about you but I am planning to take a gap year before I go to collage" sapphire nodded yawning "let's worry about that later, we need to sleep" ruby nodded laying down wrapping her arms round sapphires waist while sapphire tucked her head under rubys chin pushing herself against the taller girl falling asleep quickly.
Sapphire woke up in the morning, she looked up at ruby who was tiredly looking down at her. "morning" sapphire put her head back on rubys chest "we get to go home today" ruby nodded "yup, I'll have to call my mom to come bring the car seat and lunas clothes. I just want to get out of here with my two babies" sapphire chuckled giving ruby a soft kiss looking up when a nurse quietly walked in "oh you are awake, you two are going to be able to leave later today. We're going to have to check how sapphire is doing and how the baby is doing, the doctor also wants to see how rubys wounds are recovering" ruby nodded watching the nurse walk out of the room. Sapphire got up walking over to luna as she started to fuss, ruby walked over to her looking over her shoulder at the child in her arms. "she seems ready to go home too" sapphire smiled nodding, ruby wrapped her arms around sapphires hips kissing sapphires neck softly mumbling "I just want to bring her home and sleep in my own bed" sapphire looked up at her "did you even sleep sense luna was born?" ruby looked down thinking "guess not, kinda need a little sleep huh?" sapphire chuckled kissing rubys cheek turning around and leading ruby to the bed and sitting down with her "I'm taking a nap until luna has to get checked out" ruby nodded putting luna down in the cot as she was asleep now and getting comfortable holding sapphire as they fell asleep.
Ruby woke up to the nurse shaking her shoulder, ruby looked up at her and the nurse smiled "there you are, I have to check out luna and sapphire so that you guys will be able to leave. The doctor is wanting to check on you as well, ruby" ruby nodded looking over as sapphire woke up wrapping her arms around rubys waist. Ruby chuckled watching the nurse pick the child up and carry her over to a table to examine her before bringing her back to ruby and looking at sapphire "can I check you out?" ruby smirked looking up at her "I mean that's my job but go ahead" the nurse chuckled and listened to sapphires hart beat after she had sat up. "ok everything seems fine with sapphire and the baby so the doctor just wants to check ruby out and you can leave to go home once a nurse brings you out" ruby nodded putting her arm around sapphires shoulder watching the nurse walk out of the room a doctor coming in few minutes later "hello ruby, could you pull your pants down so I can see your legs to see how they are healing, then I may get to take the stiches out of your neck" ruby nodded pulling her pants down so the doctor could look at her legs, he nodded and looked up at her neck "I'm going to be able to take the stiches out it seems healed enough, I'll get a nurse in here so you can get those stiches out" ruby nodded and pulled her pants back up as the doctor walked out. Ruby looked at sapphire "I'm done with hospitals" sapphire chuckled looking up at the nurse who walked, she walked over to ruby and sat down on the rolling chair. Sapphire grabbed rubys hand "you ok?" ruby nodded "oh yeah, I've gotten stitches in and out so many times. But I don't mind you holding my hand" sapphire smiled nodding watching the nurse take the stiches out and put bandages over the wounds. After everything was done and the nurse had left ruby started packing their bag. Eventually they were able to leave, scarlet had met them at the hospital to drive rubys car home.
They got home and walked to their room, ruby looked over in the corner where there was a crib with a few other child products with a note on it. Ruby smiled looking at the note reading it out loud "thought we should buy the new member of the gang some welcome gifts, love everyone" sapphire smiled looking at the note "those guys are so cute, ruby could you take the other things out of the crib so luna can sleep in there? We both need to take showers and get things done and luna can't be on us the whole time" ruby nodded starting to get the things out of the crib folding the clothes and putting the bigger things on the floor before putting the bed sheets that had a note that said 'already washed" on them and put them on the mattress, Ruby laid luna down in the crib before laying down while sapphire went and took a shower. Ruby woke up to sapphire wrapping herself around her ruby looked down at her, "you ok baby?" sapphire shrugged getting more comfortable when ruby wrapped her arms around her "what's going on?" sapphire shook her head putting her face into rubys neck "it's nothing ruby, I'm ok" ruby ran her hand on sapphires back "sapph you never hide things, what is going on? I know you're not fine, even if you're tired your not this quiet" sapphire sighed "I just have a lot on my mind right now, and I need some sleep. Everything is ok ruby, really" the taller girl sighed nodding "ok, well I'm going to go take a shower and after that we can go to bed for a while before luna undoubtedly wakes us up" sapphire chuckled and nodded watching ruby walk into the bathroom.
