BABY, REMEMBER ME, PLEASE

Disclaimer: The Cullens, the Swans, and most of the characters mentioned in the story that are known from Stephanie Meyer's beloved Twilight Saga, are all hers and hers alone. I neither have nor wish to pass them off as mine. I do appreciate the fact that she did bring them to life and allows us to play with them in our imaginations. The only thing I will claim is the current storyline.

The awesome and talented dowlingnana searched out my errors and corrected them.

But, in the safe house in L. A. Bella was quietly resting and catching up on her reading which she had missed during the time she had been in the coma while she was waiting for everything to be in place for her trip to Paris to testify.

From time to time Charlie would come in to check on his daughter, but, was unaware of the fact that his wife was trying desperately to reach him since he had left that cell phone at home in his drawer. It could have created some serious problems if the wrong person happened to call at the wrong time, so, he never carried it with him when he was working with another law enforcement agency.

In another part of town two ladies were busily doing their jobs on behalf of their client, Isabella Swan. One had a prepared statement ready to deliver at the right time. And, the other was locating new projects for Ms. Swan to look over.

CHAPTER 26: GETTING READY FOR THE NEXT MOVE

It had been two days since the sheriff's office had served papers to members of the Cullen family that had included separation papers concerning the marriage of Edward Cullen and Isabella Swan. The press and paparazzi went crazy once they had been able to get the public version why an officer from the sheriff's department had visited the ranch. Each area of the media were trying desperately to get an interview, a statement, an explanation from anyone in the know about what was going on within one of Hollywood's most elite families. The problem was no one could get close enough to a Cullen to get a response and no one knew the whereabouts of Isabella Swan to get an answer.

The one thing they all did know was that Rosalie Hale wasn't her manager or media consultant any longer. So, they didn't know who to try to approach for any sort of answers or statements. Then all was answered with one statement given to a reporter at the L. A. Times by one Angela Webber.

Angela had called her friend who she knew to be a reputable reporter to give an exclusive. The statement was short, offered very little in the way of letting anyone know what was going on within the family and gave away hardly any immediate future plans or actions by Ms. Swan. It surprised everyone when it appeared and read:

"Ms. Swan has retained my services to represent her in all matters concerning anything having to do with the press. It is her wish that although she has held and still holds Ms. Rosalie Hale in high regard both in her job of handling Ms. Swan's contractual affairs and as a dear friend, she has felt the need to terminate that association out of respect for Ms. Hale to keep any possible conflict of interest from arising due to Ms. Hale also representing Mr. Edward Cullen in the same areas of the industry. So, she has retained the services of Ms. Heidi Norcross as her manager to avoid any possible issues during the current situation between the Cullen family and herself.

Ms. Swan does wish to thank all of her family, close friends and most of all her fans for the continued support, loyalty, well wishes and prayers over the time of her recovery. She is now in the finally stages of recovery and has desired to do this in seclusion away from any influences since she wants to start taking charge of making her own decisions to bring forth a completed healing in all areas.

Also, in conclusion, Ms. Swan has instructed Ms. Norcross to be on the lookout and to secure any scripts that might be of interest to Ms. Swan since she is eager to return to work in the very near future.

No, further statements will be forthcoming from Ms. Swan or her representatives at this time until such as she is ready to return to work."

Before Angela had released the statement she had cleared it through Garrett Winston who had contacted Bella for approval of the contents of the statement. Once that had been done then the statement had been released and it was from that moment onwards that Angela Webber began to truly earn her money as she fended and handled all the calls and requests coming in.

In the meantime with the release of the statement Heidi Norcross was also starting to receive calls and deliveries of scripts from the different studios wanting Isabella Swan to consider working for them once she had made a full recovery.

Jasper had also been busy with all of the necessary filings he had been doing on Edward's behalf to block any further action that Bella might be considering to take in regards to further separating herself from Edward and their marriage. He had a meeting scheduled with Bella's attorney so they could go over all finances to be prepared for the upcoming hearing to separate their finances to the requested status quo instead of jointly shared as it stood presently. And, it's during that meeting that Jasper is hopefully planning to find out exactly what brought on all of these filings as a true and accurate confirmation of what he had explained to the family of why she had taken the action she did.

Everyone had packed up and left the ranch within twenty four hours of being served. They didn't hesitate once a realtor arrived later that afternoon on the same day they had been served to survey the ranch and get an idea of the value since Ms. Swan had decided to put it on the market for a quick sale.

This news even rocked Elmira Jones' world as well as all of the other ranch employees. Their job stability seemed to be on shaky ground and they were worried about how much longer they would have a job. The realtor had a meeting with the foreman and by the end of that meeting he was satisfied as to what the future would hold for all of them. It seemed that Ms. Swan was very specific about certain conditions of the sale. The main one being that it was to be sold as a ranch and all current employees would retain their positions on the ranch. Once everyone heard that they were feeling relieved and reassured as to still having a job.

However, the news was received by the family as if they had been punched in the gut. Renee was even more determined to get a hold of Charlie since she felt that her daughter was completely getting out of control with all of the outlandish decisions and actions she seemed to be taking without thought or consideration of how her actions could or would affect others. And, the longer it took to get a response from her husband the madder she was getting at both him and her daughter. She couldn't understand why she hadn't heard from him.

It seems that Renee had forgotten about his rule of leaving his personal cell phone at home when he went undercover for another law enforcement agency because of such things as what was happening at the moment. But, still he had a habit of checking in every so often just to let her know that he was safe and doing okay. So, far he hadn't even done that. True it hadn't even been a week since his leaving, but, still she wanted to talk with him, so, as far as she was concerned there wasn't an excuse for his not calling.

Two people during this time experienced an emotional rollercoaster and felt like there was no end to the ride. The first one being Edward, even, though, he knew that Jasper was acting on his instructions and that he was determined to prove to Bella that he had changed, it still didn't stop him from feeling the turmoil churning within him about the situation both mentally and emotionally.

The second person was Elmira Jones and she was on the phone for each incident that took place keeping her niece, Maxine, and her nephew, Carlo, up to date. Everyone was busily trying to get some kind of plan in place to find Isabella Swan and to keep tabs on the movements of one Edward Cullen.

After the decisions Bella had made and then putting action to those decisions, Charlie began to observe a change slowly taking place within his daughter. Bella was slowing beginning to emerge to being her old outgoing self once more. She was making baby steps towards joking, laughing and moving out from under the weighs that had been burdening her and holding her down for the last several years. The sparkle was returning to her eyes, she was developing a glow once more, both inner and outer, and looking forwards to getting back to living once more instead of just existing.

He was aware that Bella still loved her husband, but, the two had some heavy problems that needed to be resolve. But, now wasn't the time to do that and deal with the Paris issue all altogether as if it was one big problem. It wasn't; it was several problems that had all come together at about the same time and had never been properly dealt with by either Bella or Edward.

Of course, neither side of the family had helped by allowing the couple to wallow in loss with not letting go and grieving. Instead, everyone made excuses and felt that in time things would resolve the problems all by themselves. It was Edward's confession when Bella was attacked that showed Charlie that they all had been wrong. Sure, Edward had been wrong with the way he had handled things and by not working with Bella to make sure she was dealing with the loss they had suffered. But, Charlie couldn't completely lay the blame at Edward's door; Bella had done the same thing and refused to work with Edward. They both had withdrawn and turned from the other as the result of losing their daughter. Add to that all of the excuses both sides of the family gave to ignore the situation instead of forcing the couple to get help, well, they all had to carry some of the blame also.

Garrett Winston had called several times to keep Bella updated as to what was happening. She was aware that the family had been properly served, the realtor had been out to the ranch and Angela Webber had released a statement to address what had been served to the family and remotely relayed what were Bella's future plans of returning to do a new film. That statement had been approved by Bella before Angela had released it.

Heidi was busily gathering scripts for Bella to look over and make a choice of what she might be interested in doing. What scripts that had been gathered thus far had been dropped off at Garrett's office and then passed on to Bella.

Charlie shook his head when he thought about how fast things moved in this damn fake ass town. A whispered word spread like wild fire within nanoseconds from the time it was said and it took less than five minutes before someone was trying to get more information concerning the word, the statement or the action. There was no privacy for anyone in the public eye.

Of course, Garrett had also let Bella know that Jasper Whitlock was representing Edward, updated her as the actions he had filed on Edward's behalf and that a meeting between the two to begin the action of separating the finances was scheduled. Bella took the news in stride and thanked him for all that he was doing.

It was late afternoon when Jasper arrived at Garrett Winston's office, but, his wait to be announced didn't last any longer than a couple of minutes before he was ushered in. Before starting work Jasper did try to ask some questions as to what had caused Bella to bring about the actions she filed, but, Garrett refused straight out to discuss any of his client's affairs. All he said was that he followed her instructions of what she felt was necessary and that her mind was made up before she ever arrived to sign the necessary papers. After that both men got down to work going over all of the finances when suddenly the phone interrupted their concentration.

"What the hell did you say?" Garrett abruptly questioned the caller. "Shit. Have you been in touch with them yet to update them as to what's happening?" He listened to the caller for a bit longer and then hung up. Immediately rising from behind his desk he left the room while Jasper waited for his return.

When some time had passed and Garrett hadn't returned Jasper rose and went in search of him. He was found him in the break room with the TV on and was watching a news program. The announcer was talking about some breaking news taking place in Paris the seemed to concern a number of arrests that were taking place.

Garrett turned and was about to take a step towards the door when he noticed that Jasper was standing in the doorway listening to announcement as well. He smiled at Jasper as he begin walking towards him and the door, then asked if they could begin again in about fifteen minutes as he had an urgent call that needed to be taken care of.

A/N: Okay, things are beginning to move in Paris. So, Garrett needs to check on certain things to make sure Bella is okay. Is everyone at the safe house being notified of the arrests at the same time?

Hope you enjoy and will take the time to review to let me know your thoughts.
