What happened last:

The Ice King had a breakthrough with his memory thanks to some science gadgets that Princess Bubblegum invented and the two girls just heard about Finn's recent injury. Now they're back in the Candy Kingdom but someone's sounding pretty angry. What will happen next?

As soon as Marceline landed she heard someone screaming at her. Whoever it was sounded angry and hostile.

Marceline was on her guard. Her back was turned away from the angry sounding voice when she landed so she couldn't predict what type of foe it could possibly be.

It was simply a banana guard that was brand new to the force.

New Banana Guard: "HEY! Stop right there! You're currently trespassing in the candy castle grounds. You better leave now or-" The guard stopped as soon as he saw that Marceline was holding the princess.

PB: "No it's-" She couldn't talk over the screaming guard.

New Banana Guard: "She's kidnapping the princess! I need backup!" The brand new guard screamed at the top of his lungs.

Then about five squads of banana riot guards fully equipped with spears and shields came storming out of the castle to surround the "intruder". They all immediately stopped and stared at the new banana guard.

All of the guards knew Marceline and have all been told before that she's been granted access to the Candy Kingdom however she pleases. It's been a rule that's been around for years. But of course, the one new guy didn't know that.

Random banana guard: "Oh, hey Marcy and Bubblegum" One of the guards said to break the silence.

M: "Sup guys?" She said, sounding as cool as ever.

The banana guards all loved Marceline for her musical abilities. She used to come to the Candy Kingdom all the time to have concerts for the candy people.

PB: "*sigh* Did somebody forget to tell the new guy ALL of the rules?" She said as she face palmed.

There was a moment of silence because none of the banana guards wanted to own up to the mistake.

PB: "Just please fix it, ok guys?" She was talking about the clueless new guard of course.

All of the banana guards: "Yes, princess." They all said in unison. They were very loyal to their royalty and they loved the princess as their leader.

PB: "Ok... that was a bit embarrassing. So let's go see Finn Ma-"

She turned to see Marceline already gone.

PB: "Of course…" She wasn't actually surprised that Marceline left without her to see Finn.

Marceline was running to the hospital. She didn't fly like she normally would and she didn't really have a real reason for doing so. She wasn't thinking normally and that was becoming the usual lately.

She had no idea where the hero boy could possibly be so she went back to the same waiting room as last time. When she got there, she could easily hear the faint laughter of Finn, Jake and Beemo and went directly towards the commotion.

The Finn and Jake were both playing Beemo when Marceline burst through the door.

Beemo instantly turned the game off to say "hi" to the vampire queen and Jake hopped off the bed. He was already two steps ahead of Marcy and figured that she and Finn might want some space to hug or something. He didn't mind of course. He was a great brother and friend and never broke that trend.

F: "Marceline!" Finn said, sounding ecstatic to see Marcy after the assassin attack.

Marceline just quickly walked up to Finn with a smile on her face. As she approached her smile turned into a frown and slowly her face began to show fury.

From Finn's perspective, Marceline looked angry at him for something that he didn't do and he felt completely confused. He would still believe the vampire queen if she said that he did actually do something wrong. He was just like that. He was never someone to let people to walk over him but he respected women and if he had no reason to dislike them, then he would always trust and respect them. Especially Marceline.

Who said chivalry's dead?

Marceline wasn't exactly angry at Finn nor was she sure what she was even feeling. She was full of frustration and anger since she found out about him getting hurt soo quickly after the "Maja incident". She had also been drowning in overwhelming angst the entire time. Even though Bubblegum said that Finn was ok back at the Ice Kingdom, she still felt as if something horrible was still going to happen.

Her mind was racing and she couldn't help but think that all of this was her fault. Finn was hospitalized a second time and it was all Marceline Vampire Queen's fault.

Once Marceline was close enough to Finn she reared her hand back as if she was about to slap him. She had a furious look on her face, yet also somehow sad. Right before she went to hit the hero boy her hand dropped to her side and her eyes began to tear up. She didn't know what her mind was telling her to do.

She wanted to be angry because Finn got hurt again, and her emotions were soo jumbled up that she didn't know who to take it out on.

M: "Oh Finn!" She said, sounding extremely upset as she fell into the hero's arms. She immediately began to cry.

Jake thought that it would be good to give Marcy and Finn some alone time so Jake picked up Beemo and he left the room.

Marceline's eyes were flowing with tears at this point. Everything that's happened up until this point starting from that day with the battle in front of Marcy's house has taken its toll. The ebb and flow of the stress in Marceline's life had never been more intense than this. Usually, something would happen and there wouldn't be anything else significant to happen for a few hundred years or so. But in the span of about two weeks her life had changed completely. She had her highs and lows ranging from the happiest she's ever been to this; thinking that the one person in this cruel world that understands her completely is being forced closer to death every day. And it's all her fault.

F: "Marcy? What's wrong?" Finn was confused with her actions. For a second he thought that she was going to hit him and now she's crying into his shoulder.

F: "I have to find out what's going on in this girl's mind…" He thought.

M: "I was just… soo worried about you, Finn." She replied, sounding muffled because she still had her face buried in his shoulder.

F: "It's ok Marcy. I'm ok now." He didn't know what else to say so he just reassured her.

M: "But what if this happens again, Finn? I hate seeing you get messed up like this." She said as she lifted her head up a bit so Finn could hear her better.

F: "Don't worry about that Mar Mar. I can take it-"

M: "No Finn! You shouldn't have to deal with that." She interrupted him and lifted her head to look into his eyes to show how serious she was. Her eyes were still overflowing with tears.

F: "Marceline…" He didn't know how to respond. He just pulled her head into his chest and hugged her tightly.

Finn just held her close and tried to comfort the crying vampire. He ran his fingers through her perfect tuxedo-black hair. He could still see the subtle purple glow silhouetting her that always seemed to make her beauty stand out more.. Everything about her used to always seem perfect and that's something that's never changed. Finn always liked the way Marceline was and never knew much about her innermost feelings. Not until the recent adventure that they had.

Marceline crawled up onto Finn and laid her head on his chest. Her crying was starting to calm down. She was still upset about everything but she always felt safe in Finn's arms.

The human boy just kept slowly running his fingers through her hair and gently rubbing her back to get her to calm down. She eventually calmed down completely and they both just laid there, taking in the moment. Regardless of whatever stress they had to deal with they were always each other's mental release.

F: "Hey Marcy."

Marceline had already fallen asleep in Finn's arms. This wasn't new to him because she's already done this in the past.

F: "Marceline…" He whispered to himself. He just wanted to hear her beautiful name. It always brought him happiness.

Finn wasn't tired so he ended up staying up for about another twenty minutes until he could try to fall asleep. Marceline was as peaceful as can be the whole time. Even though she fell asleep crying, she still fell asleep in Finn's arms.

And that made everything better.

Back to Jake

J: "So Pb…"

PB: "Sup Jake?

Jake, Bubblegum and Beemo were all in the kitchen, sitting down and talking. The princess made chamomile tea for everyone. Jake made sure that he kept the princess out of Finn's hospital room so that him and Marcy could talk. He explained how emotional she was getting and PB understood completely.

J: "I think we have a pretty serious problem…"

PB: "And what might that be Jake?" She was acting very calm.

J: "So… do you even know how Finn got hurt?"

PB: "Oh! I actually meant to ask that. Was it during a dungeon crawl or something like usual?"

Finn and Jake often went on dungeon crawls and usually neither of them ever got hurt but, there were always those rare occurrences.

J: "No… it was something much worse…" He was trying to sound ominous.

PB: "Well… why don't you tell me?" She was getting a bit restless.

J: "They're actually really dangerous too…" He was unintentionally not answering her question.

PB: "Well Globbit! Just tell me!"

J: "Jeez! You could have just asked nicely…"

PB: "I did… *sigh*" She said under her breath, trying to control her frustration.

J: "Uhhh… what were we talking about again…?"

PB: "Ugh… You were telling me about some kind of problem, and whoever it's about is really dangerous. Ring any bells?"

J: "Oh yeah! It's about who attacked Finn."

Jake just paused to see if Bubblegum would say anything but all she did was give him an irritated look.

J: "It was The Guild of Assassins, PB…"

The princess was still calm as soon as she heard Jake say that, taking a sip of tea.

PB: "Well, that's certainly a problem Jake. We should probably do something about that." She said with an odd smirk.

J: "Well, duh!"

PB: "So, how do you propose that we go about doing it?"

J: "Ok, so first off we can-"

PB: "Ok, stop. That idea is terrible." She said jokingly, having no faith in Jake.

J: "What? You don't even know what my idea is yet!"

PB: "No, but I know that it's probably not going to work."

J: "Ok FINE, little miss perfect. What's YOUR idea?" He said, pouting.

Perfect. That word always triggered Bonnibel's memory. It always made her think of her best friend.

Oh, how the times have changed.

The princess sat up in her chair and leaned forward. She had a menacing look on her face. It almost appeared to be… evil.

J: "PB? What are you thinking?" Jake was a bit scared of what she was possibly thinking; the princess was a very crafty individual. After all…

She is a technical wonder child.
