Well, been a little too long for what I have left. I thought about leaving it, but I have two more chapters to post before I'm done. So, here is the second to last chapter.

"I love you," she said. "More than anything in the world."

He looked at her with soft eyes. They had been through hell and back, nearly costing Kagome her life, and he found out he could, in fact, love a human and want to be with her.

"And I love you," He said. When her eyes widened, he kissed her with such tenderness a tear slipped from her eye.

He woke up next to Kagome, arms wrapped tightly around each other. Her cheeks were flushed, and she slept soundly. He stroked her face with one clawed finger. He watched her sleep until she woke up. Thankfully, it was a Saturday.

When her eyes opened, they looked up at him. She smiled, then frowned. Then blushed – furiously.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to kiss you-" He put a finger to her lips to silence her.

"I do not mind. I must confess something," he said. Her brows furrowed. "I did not think I could love anyone, especially a human. Nearly losing the only friend I had showed me I can have attachments to people. Watching you fade away, killing for you, showed me that I can love. Kagome, I love you."

Sesshomaru's heart was pounding. What if she didn't love him? That was ridiculous, she kissed him the night before. Her eyes filled with tears and he panicked.

"I love you too, Sesshomaru," she kissed him again. "Can we get away with being together?"

"I do not care what the rest of the world thinks. We have a love stronger than anything, the world cannot keep us apart. Natasha couldn't, their opinions won't," Sesshomaru said.

"You're right. We'll have to battle their opinions and show that we can work, right?" Kagome was brighter than the sun at that moment.
