A/N: Morning guys, I'm afraid this is only a short chapter today, so I might update later or do a double update, I'll see how I go

Chapter 25: The Date

As 7.30 approached, Kendall made his way out into the apartment to find his friends talking in the living room,

"You guys are still here?" he asked.

"We were just leaving, man," James nudged Carlos in the ribs and the two got up before looking to Logan expectantly as the genius got up and approached the blonde,

"Are you still mad at me?" he asked, and Kendall gave a small smile, causing Logan to blush and be more than grateful the other boy couldn't see,

"No," Kendall said "I guess I'm just lucky to have such an awesome best friend," Logan's heart dropped a little at that, but Kendall, having not seen the genius' expression falter, smirked "but seriously, get outta here. Go do something fun," Logan nodded,

"Bye Kendall," he said "good luck on your date," and with that, he turned to follow the other two out of the apartment.

Jo arrived not long after, greeting Kendall warmly as he answered the door,

"How are you doing?" Kendall asked as the two sat down on the orange couch "You know, with all this? It's a lot to deal with," Jo cleared her throat before answering as she stared at the ground, glad Kendall couldn't see her,

"I, uh, I'm doing OK," she said in a small voice; she hated lying to Kendall, he was such a sweet guy, but it just felt like too much now that he was blind...

As the date went on, Jo was a little more relaxed around Kendall; he was more independent now that he had his cane, but it still made her stomach writhe worriedly to see him feeling around for things before grabbing them, or waving the stick around on the ground so he didn't hit anything.

"It's getting late," Jo said eventually, avoiding looking at the clock, which indicated it was only 9pm.

"Is it?" Kendall asked, getting up as Jo did the same "OK, I'll walk you out," they stopped as Kendall heard Jo open the front door to the apartment, and Kendall felt for her hand before grasping it,

"Thanks for a great night," he said gently, and Jo let out a small giggle despite herself as he kissed her on the nose, "I missed, didn't I?" Kendall asked, blushing.

"Its OK, I don't mind," she replied, kissing him on the nose and making his blush deepen, but she let out the smallest of sighs as her eyes met with Kendall's glassy ones "I, uh, I'll see you around," and with that, she left the apartment, leaving Kendall to smile blissfully at what he thought was an incredible date.
