Alright, next chapter for ya here! By the way, no one got it, but the Avatar reference in the last chapter was "Steven always lies," referencing Zuko saying, "Azula always lies," over and over again. Thanks for guessing, though!

Okay, so, I don't know if you guys will be pleased with this chapter or not. I'll be honest, I spent a lot of this week worrying if you guys would like what I did with this story. I had to remind myself that (and please don't take the wrong way) I write for me. I appreciate your reviews and support and feedback so much, but at the end of the day it is my decision about what happens in this story. So whether you guys like it or not, this is what I wanted to do.

This is another shorter chapter. There's honestly not much more I can add to it. You know, this chapter actually turned out better than I thought it would. I hope you can enjoy it. I own April, Blake, and Claire, but I don't own Lab Rats.

* * * Chapter 26: Fix Her * * *

One man stood alone in the middle of the room, his lips pursed and his eyes fiercely locked on the five teens in front of him. His jet black hair hung limply around his face and he was visibly seething.

"Give up, Dr. McKinley!" Blake said.

"Yeah, Jared, it's all five of us against you," Claire added. "You can't win."

"I beg to differ," Dr. McKinley growled. He reached for a device and aimed it at the kids. After fumbling with the button for a second, he pressed it. Chase instinctively put up his force field. The laser beam simply bounced off.

Adam ran up to the man and grabbed his collar. He lifted him off the ground, effectively choking the scientist. Without any hesitation Adam threw him across the room. Dr. McKinley hit the wall and slumped to the ground. Bree sped over and placed the final strip on his neck.

It was over. That was it. They had won. After standing around for a few seconds, the five bionics began to smile.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you!" Claire squealed. "Finally! I've been dreaming about this day my whole life!"

"We all have," Blake said, placing a gentle hand on his sister's shoulder. Then to Adam, Bree, and Chase he said, "Really, thanks. We appreciate it more than you know. But . . . what happens now?"

"Mr. Davenport said he could relocate all the kids," Bree explained. "They'll be trained to do good instead of evil. He has a lot of warehouses where he can lock up these scientists so no one else can find out about bionics."

"Sounds good," Blake said. "Um, does that include us?"

"I kinda wanna go, Blakie," Claire said, her voice childlike and pleading. "We can re-learn everything and become the good guys. April would love that."

"Wait, where is April?" Adam asked suddenly.

"She went after Steven," Chase mused, "but shouldn't she be back by now?"

"Oh boy," Blake sighed. "You let her go alone?"

"What's the big deal?" Bree asked.

"April's a bit . . . unpredictable."

"We've spent that past couple of months with her," Chase pointed out. "And she's my girlfriend. I think I know her."

"Well I . . . wait a second, girlfriend?"

"Oh, yeah." Chase bit his lip. "Did we not mention that?"

"No," Blake muttered, raising an eyebrow. "Okay, we can cover that later. I've spent fifteen years – give or take a few months – with her and I'm her brother. I think I know her pretty well. She can get out of control when she's mad. She doesn't think straight. Not to mention Archer."

Claire yelped and dived under a table. "Archer's scary."

"Claire, get out," Blake said, rolling his eyes. "If we're lucky, Archer didn't come out. But we should find April. Do you know where she went?"

"Some hidden passageway over here," Chase said, walking over to the floor-to-ceiling computer display.

It took the group only a few seconds to find the hidden entryway behind the computers. Adam and Claire helped pushed it aside, revealing a staircase behind it. Everyone headed down the stairs.

To be honest, Chase was a little worried about what they would find when they caught up to April. I wish I had gone with her. What's it like to have a girlfriend who has committed murder? He certainly hoped it hadn't come to that. Considering April's ominous statements, though, it wasn't entirely outside the realm of possibility.

Finally they came to a long hallway. The stone walls were cracked and parts of the ceiling had caved in. One rather large mountain of rocks, not unlike the one that had buried Marcus several months ago, filled the center of the hall. Chase felt a lump rise in his throat.

Chase quickly began a thermal scan, hoping his findings wouldn't confirm his suspicions. They did. "There's someone under there," he announced to the group.

"I got it!" Adam said, running over and starting to lift the stones. Chase went to his brother's side. "No way, Chase, you're too weak to help!"

Chase just rolled his eyes and took a step back. Adam picked up the stones and tossed them aside like they were pieces of styrofoam. The first thing his frantic digging revealed was an arm. Chase immediately felt sick to his stomach.

Adam pursed his lips and kept going. Eventually he revealed the broken body of a girl lying face-down on the floor. Her brown hair was matted with blood.

Claire gasped and buried her face in her brother's chest. Blake wrapped his arms around her. He stared stone-faced at the sight as if not ready to believe that what he was seeing was real.

Chase knelt beside his girlfriend and picked up her wrist. He found a pulse, albeit a weak one. From what he could tell, however, she wasn't as bad as she first appeared. April's body was flecked with blood, but not much. Her legs, however, were still trapped underneath the rocks.

"How did this happen?" Bree asked quietly.

"Steven," Blake said coolly. "He destroyed the tunnel and left. He's miles away by now. Lucky for him."

"Seems like murderous rage runs in the family," Bree muttered. Blake glared at her, but she didn't notice.

"We have to get her back to the lab," Chase whispered. "Mr. Davenport will know what to do."

Chase heard footsteps behind him. He looked up to see Claire standing there, her caramel-brown hair stuck to her tear-stained face. "Fix her," she mumbled, her eyes not leaving her sister. "Please, you have to fix her."

Chase sat by April's side, the events of the long day swirling through his mind. They had managed to get April out from under the rocks, Claire even offering to carry her sister.

Mr. Davenport's workers had come and rounded up all the scientists and they kids. They took them off to one of his remote facilities in Alaska. Davenport Industries' top scientists (those who already knew about bionics) would be helping to retrain them. The evil scientists would be locked up and under twenty-four hour security. It was over.

Now Chase was alone in the lab. Alone except for April, who was unconscious on the cot beside him. Mr. Davenport had looked her over and declared that she would be fine with a lot of rest and time to heal.

Blake and Claire had finally given in and gone to Alaska with the rest of the bionics, but not without setting up a system for checking in on their sister. They wanted lots of calls and updates. Speaking of which . . .

Chase went to the computer and set up his video chat function. He called Mr. Davenport's facility. After speaking with one of the scientists, Claire and Blake finally came onto the screen.

"Hi Chase," Blake said.

"Whoa, I can see him!" Claire said, sticking her finger into the camera. Chase leaned back instinctively. "Is it magic?"

"No!" Blake insisted, shaking his head and sighing. "Sorry."

"Hey, it's fine," Chase chuckled.

"How's April?" Claire asked nervously as she leaned back in her seat.

"She's doing alright. Mr. Davenport said that she should wake up tomorrow. It looks like the worst she suffered was a broken leg and a minor concussion." Chase added under his breath, "We've had too many of those lately."

"But she'll be alright?" Blake asked in a worried tone.

"Yes. I'm pretty sure."

"Good. Um, say, what was that you were saying earlier about April being your girlfriend?"

"We've been going out for a few months." Chase decided to just tell it straight.

"Oh, well . . . you seem like a nice guy, Chase. But don't you dare mess with my sister, okay?"

"Yeah!" Claire shouted, jumping up out of her seat and holding up her fist. "You be very, very careful, Davenport! I know where you live, and if you hurt April I swear I'll–"

"Claire!" Blake scolded. The younger girl sat down abruptly. "But seriously, you watch your step."

"Understood," Chase said, holding his hands in the air defensively. "Trust me, I won't hurt her. I love her too much for that."

"Good," Claire said. "Then I give your permission to be her boyfriend!"

"Um, thanks? I'm not even sure what will happen when she wakes up. She might go back to Alaska with you guys."

"You could do a long-distance thing then," Claire pointed out.

"Only about forty percent of long-distance relationships fail," Blake added. "But you'll probably just have to wait until she wakes up to ask her. Speaking of which, you'll let us know as soon as she's awake, right?"

"Of course," Chase assured them.

"Thanks," Blake sighed. A voice was heard off-screen and Blake and Claire looked up. Blake nodded and looked back down at his computer. "Um, we've gotta go. A few of the bionics are acting up again. See ya!"

"Bye."

Chase shut off his computer and turned to face April again. He stood up and walked over to her. "You gave us quite a scare," he murmured, not caring that he was talking to himself. "I'm glad you're going to be okay." Chase leaned down and planted a kiss on April's lips. He stroked her hair, and for a split second he thought he saw a hint of a smile touch her mouth.

Just then the elevator doors opened up. Chase's siblings and father walked in. Preparations for bedtime began. Mr. Davenport went over a few details of the mission with the bionics and checked on April once more. Then he headed back upstairs, leaving his kids to go to bed.

As Chase stepped into his capsule, right before he slipped his sleep mask over his eyes, he stole one more glance at April. He hoped that tomorrow things would look up. She would be proud and happy that they had stopped the evil bionic army. Chase couldn't wait to hold her in his arms and tell her all about it.

Maybe it ended too quickly. But I really struggled with that. If I had dragged it out for longer, you would've had a very boring, very cliché couple of chapters. Trust me, you don't want that. It was best to get it done and over with.

So, only one more chapter left. And I have a quite a surprise in it. This story might not end the way you think it will. What do you guys think will happen?

Leave a review if you can, please. I would appreciate that. I know some of you probably didn't like it. Feel free to tell me what you honestly thought, but please, no hate. See you all next Saturday!
