Mara was just finished her shift at the Club and practically collapsed atop the bar, not even bothering to take a seat. "It's so hot in here."
"Blame it on the heat wave," Piper replied as she handed Mara a cloth filled with ice cubes. She didn't mind that Mara had collapsed there since the Club was closed the night.
"Ohhh thank you." Mara quickly and gratefully took the ice cloth and pressed it against her forehead. "You are a goddess, Piper. A true goddess."
Piper fanned herself with a flier for the upcoming Cranberries show at the Club as she shook her head with an amused smile. She thought this would be a good time to bring up something Mara had been avoiding. "You know, you'd already be home by now soaking it up in a nice cold bath if you were singing for the house band. They left a couple hours ago and still looking for a permanent lead singer." Ever since Phoebe and Prue brought the idea to her she loved it.
As much as Mara was coming around to singing and songwriting again, the latest problem with her lyrics becoming spells kept her from pursuing it at the Club and pretty much anywhere else. "You know I can't until I figure out how to stop the songs I sing from turning magical."
"Then sing covers until you figure it out." Piper thought that was a good compromise. "When we saw you at the open mic you were in your element. You looked happier up there than you do when you cook and I've seen how happy you are when you're cooking."
Mara rolled her eyes and sat onto the barstool. "I'll stick with waitressing. Less chance of turning people into toads that way."
Piper shook her head with another amused smile and didn't push the topic further other than saying, "The offer's open when you're ready for it."
Mara spotted Felix who was helping out around the club that night since someone called in sick and thought of something that made her laugh every time it happened. "Hey, Piper, want to see something funny? Hand me that water bottle."
Piper had no idea what Mara was up to but handed it over anyway. She watched as Mara opened the bottle, went over to Felix, and splashed him with it. Felix in turn jumped fifty feet, screeched and recoiled. Piper couldn't help but laugh at that because it was utterly and completely hilarious.
"That's not funny!" Felix shouted as Mara as she ran back to the bar.
Mara was laughing so hard that she was crying. "Oh that never gets old."
"That water wasn't even cold. What was that about?" Piper hadn't made the more or less obvious connection.
Mara grinned, "Most cats hate water."
Piper put her hand over her face at that because it was so mean and yet so hilarious. "You're evil."
"But in a good way," Mara beamed and returned the ice cloth to her forehead.
Phoebe joined them at the bar at that moment and instantly grabbed some ice from the bucket to start gliding over her skin.
"Damn, Phoebes. Want a hose to go with that ice?" Mara teased.
"It's not my fault. I'm in a highly excited state right now. Not that I'd mind being hosed down with water." Phoebe waved her hand at herself. "I feel like I'm on fire. Feel my forehead."
Piper obliged and placed the back of her hand on Phoebe's forehead. "You're burning up."
This wasn't any news to Phoebe. "I know, tell me about it. Something's happening to me. Something really freaky."
Mara put new ice in her cloth and handed it over to Phoebe. "Maybe you should call a doctor."
Phoebe gratefully accepted the cloth. "But I don't feel sick. I just…I feel…I feel hot, aroused." Her eyes happen to look over to where Felix was standing with him lifting his shirt to wipe his brow and in result showed off his abs. Phoebe had to start fanning herself now. "Oh boy, that's not helping."
"Want me to get rid of him? I still got the water bottle." Mara held it up with an impish grin.
Phoebe took the bottle from her hand and set it on the bar. "That's not nice. He hates getting surprised with water."
"And how did you find that out?" Mara asked with a teasing 'hmm' expression upon her face.
Phoebe wasn't going to get into the details of how she accidentally knocked over a glass of water in his direction which caused him to hiss and shriek and jump out of the way because she had other things to talk about. Phoebe faced Piper and told her about the sex dreams she'd been having that felt so real and how each night, in each dream there was a different guy who she'd have mind blowing sex with before killing them.
Piper picked up on that. "That's how your dream ends? You kill the guy?"
"Each and every night." Phoebe was really getting worried about this. "I told you something is wrong with me."
"Or your frustrated with Felix and you're manifesting in your dreams taking it out on the random guys?" Piper had a feeling that was where it was going but after Phoebe glared at her she changed it to, "Or it's just a metaphor for extreme sexual frustration. Trust me, I should know." Piper grabbed an ice cube fore herself because it was so damn hot.
Mara took the water bottle off the counter and drank some of it. "I think I should just check out of this conversation since I still don't have any experience on the matter."
"Are we talking men?" Prue only heard what Mara said and assumed.
Piper didn't expect to see her there. "Prue, what are you doing here? Things not go well with Alan?"
"Who's Alan?" Mara asked curiously, since this wasn't a name she heard before.
"My date." Prue leaned onto the bar with a sigh. "I don't know what happened. Third date, hot night, romantic dinner, and then he drops me off without so much as a kiss goodnight. I'm a little confused."
"Me, too," Phoebe interjected. "I thought you were focusing on Felix?" Granted she and Prue hadn't really talked to each other about Felix in any capacity so she wasn't sure where Prue stood.
"He knows I'm interested but has done nothing, so I'm not going to wait around for him despite what the future holds." Prue nodded affirmatively at that, especially since future Felix did tell her it took a long time for them to get where they were relationship wise.
"And on that note, I'm out. See you at home." Mara kissed their cheeks in turn before going into the back to get her stuff. She found Felix doing the same and had to ask, "What's the deal with you, Prue, and Phoebe?"
Felix flipped his black fedora onto his head before replying. "That's quite the random question." He could tell that Mara was expecting an answer anyway. "I'll make a deal with you, Mara. After I meet them for the first time I'll tell you all about it." He tipped his hat towards her and left the Club without any interference from her.
Mara had no idea when that'd be but it was better than nothing. She just hoped things wouldn't get even more weirdly tense in the meantime.
The next morning Mara and the Sisters had a meeting about a murder case that Daryl Morris brought to Prue – All the men had been drained of their testosterone, were all part of the same dating service, and were all the same men Phoebe had been dreaming about. Because of that, Phoebe was convinced she had somehow been turned into the creature killing the men since her dreams were not dreams but felt so real.
No one else thought that was the case and figured that Phoebe was either having visions in her sleep now, like Mara had started to be able to do, or they had a psychic link to them somehow. Phoebe still wasn't convinced but that didn't stop Prue from taking her to the dating service with her to try and find answers anyway.
Mara stayed home with Piper to look through their respective spell books and both found entries about a sexual Demon called a Succubus. A Succubus would have once been a Witch who made a pact with darkness to keep their heart from getting broken again.
The entries in both books were pretty much the same and even had the same spell to attract a Succubus and destroy them with fire, but Mara's had a little more to it. Along with all the info about the Demon there was a story about a Sibley Witch who had turned into a Succubus to keep herself from finding love and risk dying because of it.
Piper was standing at the window watching Dan washing his car outside while Mara read that bit of history to her. "What happened?"
"According to this, her sister cast the spell to attract the Succubus then killed her." Mara closed the Tome with a 'wow' expression. "My family's got some dark history."
"Every family has got some dark history. I wouldn't worry about it." Piper looked outside and saw Landon coming out to help Dan with the car. "Your eye candy just came outside if you'd like to watch with me."
Mara was curious so she went to the window and saw Landon out there. She let out a deep exhale. "Those are some good genes."
Piper only focused on Dan as she tilted her head to the side a little to get a better look. "The pants or the looks."
"Both." Mara jumped a bit when Prue and Phoebe came into the house and called out her and Piper's names.
"Spying on the neighbors are we?" Prue asked with a teasing 'hmm' expression before going to the window. "I see why."
Mara moved some stray hairs behind her ear and gestured to the Book like she was making a grand presentation. "Guess what? We found the Demon lady."
After filling Prue and Phoebe in on what the Succubus was and did, Prue offered to be the one to cast the spell since Phoebe still wasn't convinced she wasn't somehow the Succubus. The plan was Prue would cast the spell to attract the Demon lady and if Phoebe responded to it then Piper would freeze the room and they'd go from there. It sounded all well and good but there was no mention on how they spell would actually attract the Succubus so none of the expected what happened when Prue cast it.
After Prue read the incantation while keeling within the symbol, flames shot up high, making Piper, Phoebe, and Mara turn their backs because it was so hot, and Phoebe had no reaction to it at all.
"See, I knew it wasn't you," Piper said to her sister in an 'I told you so' manner.
"And you were worried," Mara added in with the same tone.
Phoebe felt so relieved that this was the case. "I'm alright."
"I'm not," a deep voice spoke from behind them.
They turned around to see that Prue was now a man. "Oh my god," Phoebe said in shock while Piper and Mara had to cover their gaping mouths with their hands.
Prue touched their face to find facial hair present among other things. "We have a new problem."
Eva came into the Attic at that moment calling out, "Anybody home?" Upon seeing Prue in her new state within the symbol she stopped in her tracks. "Succubus problem?" When they all nodded in unison, Eva smacked her lips and checked Prue out, she couldn't help it. "Been there. I'll go get some of Felix's clothes. You won't get anywhere with the Succubus dressed like that."
Mara pointed at the Sisters in a 'don't go anywhere' manner before going to catch up with Eva. "What do you mean you've been there?"
"If you looked in the Tome for the information then you already know." Eva gently touched Mara's cheek. "Not every member of our family comes back from the darkness, Dove. I'll tell you about it one day." On that note, Eva went through the closet that magically adjoined her Loft to the Manor and didn't return until she had clothes for Prue to wear.
After changing into Felix's clothes, Prue locked herself in her bedroom and was determined not to come out. An hour passed of trying to get them to out of the bedroom before Eva finally stepped it up a notch.
"You're being childish, Prue. There's no way to reverse the spell. You're gonna have to do the same thing I did – Stay a man until the Succubus is dead." When they still didn't get them out of there, Eva added in, "Come out now or I'll have Felix cat burglar his way into you room and get you out."
Now Prue's door shot open. "He is to not see me like this. I look ridiculous, I have hair in strange places, and I have a penis!"
Eva brushed that off like it was no big deal because it wasn't. "Like he'd care anyway."
To avoid digressing too far, Piper spoke seriously to keep herself from laughing. "Prue we should get you down to the dating service since that's how the Succubus picks out her victims. You can sign up like all the other guys."
Phoebe tried to hold her laughter in but failed and started bursting out laughing, making Prue push her and say,
"This is so not funny," before retreating back into her room and slamming the door.
Mara was starting to get frustrated with the group and shouted out to Prue, "Oh this is ridiculous! Prudence Halliwell, am I going to have to go up there and recite the spell myself or are you going to woman up and get the job done?!" Mara crossed her arms firmly and waited to see if Prue would make a permanent appearance.
Prue finally opened the door and stepped out into the hallway, sighing, "Easier said than done."
Since Eva had experience with a Succubus before, they all went downstairs to question her about it. Piper didn't want to scratch at a likely old wound but they needed to know details so they'd be able to take care of the Succubus promptly. "I'm sorry but I can't think of another way to ask how exactly you killed her?"
Eva drank some ice tea before saying, "It's alright. It happened a long time ago. Felix wasn't even born yet so that should give you an idea."
"Actually, it doesn't," Phoebe countered. "I mean, we all guessed but he just kinda walked out of the room muttering about us being unbelievable. So…how old is he anyway? Just out of curiosity."
"Demon lady now, Felix talk later." Eva got back to the topic at hand and told the Sisters what they needed to know. "It's all about control. The Succubus is in complete control of the entire situation down to every emotion the man feels and the words he says." She spoke directly to Prue for this next part. "You take away her control and you'll break the trance she'll put you under. After that everything will fall into its fiery place."
"Is there anything else we need to know?" Prue asked, wanting to make sure all their bases were covered.
Eva thought for a moment and replied with, "Everything happens for a reason so grab onto whatever it is and use it." She finished off her iced tea and for up from the armchair. "The rest is up to you three."
"Four," Mara corrected. "I'm going to help deal with this thing."
"Actually I need you to come with me. That's why I came." Eva came right out with it to say, "We need to go to court."
"Excuse me, what?" Piper didn't like the sound of that. "What do you mean go to court?"
"The Immortal Witch who gave Mara the spell to revive me is finally being put on trial. Felix and I have been working on making this happen for a while, and now I need Mara to come and testify. If everything works out the way I hope it does then Gwen will be stripped of her Coven leader status along with her powers." Well all powers but Immortality because striping an Immortal Witch of that took quite a different potion that required something very rare to make.
It was clear that the Sisters all wanted to ask question so Eva raised her hand to say, "It's Sibley business. You have a Succubus to deal with so I suggest you take care of that while Mara, Felix, and I deal with this."
Mara felt like she didn't have much choice in the matter, so she stood up as well. "Off to court we go."
Mara felt weird wearing required attire for this court appearance. It was a long white dress with a slit up to her thigh, a corset style top with wide shoulder straps, and an equally long cape that attached to the shoulder straps. Eva was dressed in similar attire and Felix wore a pair of white pants with no shirt but had a cape that was held in place by a silver chain link with each link being in the shape of the Infinity symbol.
Mara followed Eva and Felix barefoot through the wooded area of the park until they reached the Altar – the same Altar she and the Sisters defeated Abraxas at. This time, however, there were torches all around them that if lines were shown to connect them it would reveal the same symbol of the Infinity. Mara had no idea what this Coven court was going to do and that did not sit well. Eva made it clear to her to just tell the truth so that's what she was going to do. Like she'd be able to do anything else. Lying to a group of Immortal Witches wouldn't be a very smart move to make.
It took everything in Mara's power not to shoot venom Gwen's way when she approached from the opposite direction. She almost took a step forward but Eva kept her from going anywhere by shooting her arm out to stop her. Mara looked at her mother and took a deep breath to prove she had centered herself before awaiting for whatever it was to come.
Another woman and two men joined them, all dressed similarly to the others present and all wearing either Infinity chains or pendants on their person. When they lowered the white hoods of their cloaks, Mara saw how strongly they resembled one another. If Mara had to put money on it she'd swear they were triplets or at the very least siblings. She was about to ask her mother if they were indeed triplets when the sound of approaching footsteps stopped her. Mara turned around to see at least a dozen other people, all dressed like them adorned with the same symbol, coming straight towards them.
The blonde woman was the first to speak as she addressed them all. "Welcome, present members of the Infinity Coven. For those who know not who I am, I am Serenity and these are my brothers Darien and Artemis. We are the Trinity. We are the council of our Coven and we will deem who is innocent and who is guilty this night."
Darien, the slightly taller brother, stepped forward and held his arm out towards Gwen. "The Immortal Gwen has been charged with the crime of bestowing the forbidden resurrection spell to the young Immortal Mara."
Artemis stepped forward and held his arm out towards Eva. "The Immortal Eva brings these charges to the Trinity."
Serenity stepped forward to the Altar and called out, "I call upon the young Immortal Mara to join me."
Mara moved to stand across from Serenity at the Altar and offered her hand when it was asked for. She winced when Serenity sliced the palm of her hand then pressed it upon the stone. She wanted to ask what that was for but didn't get a chance to.
"Speak the truth and no harm will come to you. Lie and your blood with harden like the stone your hand is placed upon. Do you understand the rules, young Immortal?" Serenity waited for an answer and accepted it when she received a nod in reply.
Darien joined them at the Altar, asking Mara, "When did you first meet the Immortal Gwen?"
"At her Occult Shop. I didn't know…" Mara was cut off when Artemis spoke,
"Do not speak unnecessarily, young Immortal. Only answer what is asked. Do you understand?" Artemis waited until she nodded again before asking his question. "Did the Immortal Gwen give you the resurrection spell?"
Mara answered with the truth. "Yes."
"Did you know the consequences of casting such a spell, despite our kind being neutral in nature?" Serenity asked in turn.
"Not until my mother told me."
Now it was Darien's time to speak. "Is it true you attempted to venture down the dark path of the Immortal spectrum to spare a loved one from their consequential fate?"
Again, Mara answered honestly, "Yes."
"Do you regret casting the spell?" Artemis asked with a slightly tilted head.
Mara stood up straight and answered, "My only regret is that someone will eventually die because my mother lives again."
The Trinity looked at each other before Serenity questioned, "If you knew of the consequences would you have searched for and cast the spell?"
Mara looked at her mother apologetically before answering with a breaking voice, "No. I would never knowingly sacrifice one life to bring back another no matter how much I would want them back. I wouldn't…I couldn't."
Serenity released Mara's hand and stepped back in unison from the Altar with Darien and Artemis on either side of her. They spoke at once, declaring, "The Immortal Gwen has laid false claims against the young Immortal. Her defense was the young Immortal would have cast the revival spell whether or not knowing the consequences. Her defense was the young Immortal would have searched for the spell no matter what. Blood does not lie. Scorned Witches do."
The Trinity pointed at Gwen and declared, "You are hereby stripped of your title of Coven leader and banished from the Immortal Coven. All powers save for your Immortality will be stripped. In five hundred years we will revisit this verdict."
Gwen had stood quiet until that moment. Hearing her verdict caused her to snap. "How dare you?!" she screamed at the Trinity then thrust her finger out towards Eva. "That woman destroyed my eternity! She deserves to be punished, not I!"
"Silence!" The Trinity bellowed together as flames from all the torches shot up towards the sky.
"No!" Gwen screamed. "I challenge the Sibley Witch to a Match of Honor!"
The crowd of Immortal Witches all murmured among themselves about a Match of Jonor not having been enacted since the middle ages.
The Trinity had no choice but to comply with the demand, as was their way. "Which Immortal Sibley do you wish to Match with?"
Gwen looked at Eva with venom in her eyes as she said, "The young Immortal Mara."
Eva almost objected but Felix held her back. He knew it would just make matters worse if she did, so he had to keep her from doing it.
The Trinity looked right at Mara and declared, "Young Immortal Mara, you have been challenged to a Match of Honor. Rest up. The Match begins at dawn."
With that said, the Trinity returned their hoods their heads and backed away into the darkness of the trees behind them.
Once they were gone, Eva stormed over to Gwen despite Felix trying to hold her back. "She has nothing to do with anything between us, you bitch! Match me!"
"You took away someone I loved and now the favor shall be returned. I've waited far too long to get where I am today. I will not allow you or anyone else in your wretched family to take it from me." Gwen winked at Felix with a smirked before joining the other Immortal Witches as they ventured into the trees around them.
Mara still had no freaking idea what was going on. "Can someone please fill me in here? What the hell is a Match of Honor?"
Eva was so distraught that she couldn't even answer her, so Felix did.
"It's a battle to the True Death, Mara. Whomever beheads the other first is granted honor and innocence from the crimes brought against them or their family."
Mara was freaking out but laughed anyway because it was so insane. "You people actually do that?!"
"They're your people too," Eva finally spoke. "I never considered she'd request such a thing. No one has demanded it since the Middle Ages."
"You get a front row seat to that?" Mara sarcastically asked Felix, trying to feel anything but what she was feeling in that moment.
"No, I didn't. I wasn't born during the Middle Ages, smart ass. Stop trying to make me feel so old." Felix briefly hissed at her before getting back to what they needed to deal with. "Have you ever held a sword before?"
"A plastic one when I went as a pirate for Halloween when I was nine," Mara shot back and started to pace. "I'm going to die. I am going to freaking die! And what's to stop anyone from seeing this battle to the death, huh?!"
"As long as the Trinity is present on this land we're cloaked from anyone who doesn't belong to the Coven. They cannot see nor hear us and if they venture close they were walk right through us." Eva only answered that because she thought it might bring Mara some semblance of comfort but it didn't seem to. "You are not going to die, Dove. I will not let it happen."
"I don't know how to go all Highlander on her ass! I've taken self defense classes with Phoebe but long bladed weapons were not involved!" Mara's body started to shake. "I haven't even really lived yet…how can it be my time to die?"
Eva made a decision in that moment that would likely change everything but it had to be done in order for Mara to survive. "No one said you had to behead her with the sword. As long as she loses her head that's all that matters."
Mara felt like she was living some sort of nightmare. "I don't want to kill anyone, Mom! Even if she is a psychotic bitch I don't want to be a murderer."
"You won't be killing her, you'll be vanquishing her." Felix stepped forward and placed his hands on Mara's shoulders. "Gwen is too far gone to be considered anything else but a dark Immortal Witch. Think of her as a Warlock that needs to be vanquished and survive."
"Passive powers are allowed, Mara. You have a strength inside you that hasn't been tapped into yet. When Gwen comes after you get angry. Get so angry that it makes your blood boil and your strength will follow." Eva hugged her daughter tight. "You are strong enough to survive anything your eternity throws at you."
Felix shared a look with Eva and could tell that she was thinking the same thing as he – They both hoped this wouldn't end up being something which would be regretted.
Dawn arrived and those available to present themselves in the Coven joined again that morning. The entire Coven stood together in a circle with the Trinity overseeing everything. Mara and Gwen stood in the center of the circle each wearing a garb that was worthy of a Valkyrie but pure white save for the silver Infinity adornments.
Darien and Artemis stepped out into the center where they stood and gave each a sword before returning to their sister's sides.
Serenity looked at those around them and voiced, "You are here to witness the first Match of Honor to be enacted in centuries. The rules are as simple now as they were then; Only passive powers can be used. The Match lasts until an Immortal loses their head." She raised her arms high and lowered them with a bellowed, "Begin!"
Gwen wasted no time in attacking Mara. She screamed with every blow and hit harder and harder each time Mara managed to block, but it wasn't long before sliced Mara in the abdomen.
Mara gasped and staggered back while Gwen swung her sword around and laughed. Mara touched her abdomen and saw all the blood present there. Her hand shook as she looked at the blood and thought about what would happen if she died that day. She thought about all the people that would be left behind and all the pain which would be left in her wake. Mara hated the thought of that and hated the woman trying to cause it just as much if not more.
Mara took her mother's advice and let this hate ignite her anger and let her anger fuel her. Mara's grip on the sword tightened as her posture straightened. She didn't realize it but her body started to change. Her Sibley blue eyes turned black as black markings formed upon her face and the rest of her body.
Gwen stopped laughing when she saw this happen because she didn't believe what she was seeing. She had no idea that Mara was capable of becoming such a thing, but that wasn't going to stop her from winning this Match. Again she screamed as she charged at Mara but with every hack and slash she attempted Mara moved out the way just enough. This went on for a while until finally she unintentionally gave Mara an opening that would lead to her doom.
Mara thrust her sword forward during this opening in Gwen's defenses and drove it right through her. She pulled the sword out with one swift motion and followed it with another that cut Gwen's head clean off. As Mara saw Gwen's head roll, her eyes and body returned to normal as she dropped to her knees on the ground.
No one moved or made a sound until the Trinity stepped forward and held their hands out to Mara. "The young Immortal Mara has won the Match! Since she herself has committed no crime, all indiscretions of the Immortal family of Sibley have been forgiven and their family now eligible to lead our Coven." They now held their hand out towards Eva. "As the eldest living child of Lena Sibley, you are now our Leader. This is the final verdict of the Trinity."
Without another word, the Trinity disappeared with Gwen's remains and the crowd dissipated. Once they were gone, Eva and Felix ran towards Mara and both hugged her.
"I – I never want to feel like that again," Mara cried, hating what it took for her to survive.
"I know, Dove. I know and I'm so sorry." Eva kissed Mara's head and held her even tighter. She looked to Felix and declared, "First order of business; abolishing the Match of Honor for good."
That night, while Mara stayed up in her room, Eva and Felix explained everything to the Sisters since they didn't have to worry about the Succubus anymore. They told them about the Gwen, the Coven, the Match, and everything except what Mara had to become in order to survive. That wasn't something that could be explained and since Mara didn't even realize it had happened there was no reason to bring it up.
The Sisters weren't entirely sure how to process that information, but Prue finally asked, "Did you know Mara would be put through that when you took her there?"
Eva shook her head and answered with pure honesty. "No, I swear. I truly thought that once Mara told the truth that would be the end of it. The Match never should have happened and now that I am the Coven Leader it will never happen again. The Infinity Coven is stuck in the old ways and that needs to change. With all our years and knowledge how can we not move forward?"
"Should we go up there and talk to her? Should we wait? I mean…What do we do in this situation?" Phoebe wasn't sure if they should comfort Mara or give her space.
"I'll be fine," Mara answered as she came into the room. "Felix was right – Gwen was just another Warlock that needed vanquishing. The methods just happened to be more Gladiator and less Witchy this time." She cleared her throat and gestured behind her. "Mind if I go out? Landon asked me to go to the movies and I think that's exactly what I need right now – a night of normal."
Eva thought that was the best idea. "Go on, Dove. We're here when you're ready to talk."
Mara kissed her hands and extended them out to the group sitting in the living room. "Love you all." She left the Manor and went straight into her car. Not because she needed to go into it but because there was something she needed to do. "Hope this works," she said to herself before calling out, "Leo?"
A few moments later, Leo Orbed into the seat beside her. He knew all about what Mara had to endure. "Are you sure you don't want Bash?" He had to ask since technically Bash was Mara's Whitelighter.
Mara shook her head. "No. He can't help with this." She swallowed a lump in her throat before saying, "Piper said you can take pain away. Can you take away my pain? Can you make me forget what happened?"
Leo shook his head with regret. "I'm sorry, Mara, but I can't. You need to remember this day, you need to feel it. It will help you in the future." He didn't know how or why but when Bash told him if Mara asked him to do what she just did, that he couldn't do it. Leo trusted Bash's judgement when it came to her so he did as he was asked.
"I don't want to feel this, Leo. It didn't feel like vanquishing a Warlock, it felt like killing a person and I hate it." Mara looked at him with pleading eyes. "Please take the pain away."
Leo shook his head again. "No, Mara. I'm sorry." He looked to the Manor before turning back to Mara. "I may not be able to help with this but there are a whole bunch of people you should talk to who can." He Orbed away in that moment, leaving her with that thought.
Mara sniffled and wiped away her tears before getting out of the car and going back inside the Manor. She wasn't sure what they were talking about when she joined them all in the living room but came right out and said, "Actually…I'm not alright. I've had a really shitty couple of days."
Leo was right, she should talk to them. Keeping things inside led to darkness before and Mara didn't want to go down that road so she let them all in and expressed what she was feeling. While it wasn't a quick fix for how she felt, it was definitely a step in the right direction.
End Season 2 Episode 5
