Previously on Chapter 24:
Irene and Robin ran away from the manor along with Emerald. They wandered far off into the woods, attempting to avoid punishment. Once they were found, their punishment was revealed:
Chores upon return from a ball. Balls are not what the girls are accustomed to; yet, they manage and act properly for a Victorian Era ball. One could make the argument that they are great actresses. Moreover, they were required to act formal and to not ruin the plan of protecting the suspected victim of Emiliana Rivera, the evil mermaid with a hatred of men.
Though the night was early, the two girls were abandoned at the wall making them wall-flowers. Remembering a little from her German class in America, Irene overheard a man speaking in German and mumbled a reply. "Das ist interessant," she said.
The men, whom had spoken to each other earlier, invited the two 'ladies' to dance.
Lord Rossborough danced with Irene as Lord Beckenridge danced with Robin. Although they knew a little about the Victorian Era time, Irene and Robin still felt like something clicked between them and their dance partners. They were so joyous of the fact that someone cared enough to dance with these two 'misfits'.
The men escorted the girls to the carriage, and Lady Phantomhive, as well as dance instructor Sebastian. It was revealed that Emerald 'went for a swim', which means the show has just begun.
Chapter 25: Hello, Goodbye
Irene and Robin remained motionless in the carriage. Neither Ciel nor Sebastian spoke to them. The girls were disturbed by the eerie silence that engulfed the area. They couldn't help but wonder Why?(Before Ciel left, he quickly changed into his normal clothes. So, it was slightly more awkward.)*
They arrived to the place where they originally met Emerald. She was walking with Mister Cornell. The carriage paused long enough for them to exit, but immediately left. "Lord Phantomhive?!" Lord Cornell exclaimed, "Now what brings the Queen's Guard Dog here this evening?"
Ciel looked stern, "Now why would one ask another's business? I am merely examining the Thames this evening."
The man looked impatient and frustrated, "There is no need."
"I cannot enjoy the view with my relatives?" Ciel asked curiously. The man only sighed. Though, as he was about to make a comment, a tower of water came about, sitting on the Thames. A mermaid with a neon pink hair and a maroon tail emerged from the water. Robin and Irene were nervous.
"Sister! How dare you be with such vile humans?!" her voice roared.
Emerald glared at her and responded in a deep voice, "How dare you contain hatred for humans?! Father taught you much better!"
"Tritan has not met the men of land! I have! I have!" Emiliana screeched.
Emerald never once relieved Emiliana of her cold glare. "As have I! And I must say, most humans are caring, even if they act otherwise!"
"Madame Lureaway?!" Lord Cornell cried as he realized who he has been having an affair with gave life to her true form.
'Madame Lureaway? The one who gave me the letter? Then where is the little girl?' Irene thought as she stood in shock.
"You are just as all of the other humans! Disgraceful! Despicable!" Emiliana said in a deep tone.
"Where is little Susie?!" he screamed, "You were watching her, were you not?!"
"She discovered me! So she is as you will soon be...dead!"
Lord Cornell began to run, but was met with ice. He collapsed and remained unconscious.
"SISTER!" Emerald's voice was as strong as thunder, shaking the ground on which they were standing.
Ciel watched Lord Cornell run and fall to the ground with distaste as Sebastian merely raised an eyebrow at the scene unfolding before them. "Sebastian, make sure no bystanders witness this event." Ciel said with an even tone. We all know how Sebastian answered as he secured the area.
"Robin, we should do something." Irene whispered, trying not to be over heard as the sisters continued to yell at one another.
"Were not jumping into the Thames again, Irene!" Robin whispered back sadly. With that, the two girls tuned back into the scene happening before them.
"Well, Emiliana, I fear you may no longer be able to hold in your hatred. Someone has to stop you." Emerald could already feel the heat rushing through her veins as she jumped out and into the Thames, much more swift then when Robin and Irene did.
Robin and Irene rushed forwards to the edge and called out to them, begging Emerald to stop and come back, but there was no hope. The hatred between the sisters could not be broken, and the two would not listen to any sign anyone would try to give them.
Ciel stepped forwards and beckoned the girls backwards, "You two will not see this as long as I'm here."
Sebastian had come back only to see bloody patches in the water and his three 'masters' standing on the bridge with Ciel trying to keep the girls from looking. It's not like they could see anything anyways with how many tears were coming from their colorful eyes. Irene hugging Robin, and Robin hugging Irene. 'I will surely hear about this later.' Sebastian thought as he raced off to the young ones.
Before Sebastian could get to them, Ciel had ushered the girls into a carriage and sent them off. Sebastian walked up to Ciel and asked with all politeness in his voice, "Why did you not go with them, my lord?"
Ciel had smiled grimly turning to his butler, "Someone has to stay with you while you clean up this mess, and make sure you don't forget that the little girl is dead."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~````At the mansion````~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Robin and Irene not having much strength had barely talked, and they didn't even want to walk up to their rooms. So without a word, the two girls nodded to each other and found the nearest coat closet. The two slid down and shut the door. They fell into a deep sleep within a moments notice. For when you lose someone that had grown close, it is always exhausting and strenuous.
Hours later, when they awoke, they awoke in their own beds with a deep empty feeling inside. For these two girls to feel that way, it was a day to be remembered.
Ciel's Point Of View
On the way back to manor, the silence in the carriage was even a little bit too much for me to bear. Plus, there was something that was weighing in on my mind.
"Sebastian."
"Yes My Lord." Sebastian hadn't missed a beat in replying.
"What should we do about the girls? They seemed to be in a lot of distress, and it would be an ungodly sin** ((Get it?)) to have them walking around London having them act even in the slightest worst then their usual." I had said this with the most serious tone possible.
Sebastian could clearly see the worried gleam in my eyes, and I bet he thought it hilarious until I seen his face brake into a sour frown.
I heard the frowning in his voice as he spoke, "Maybe if the ladies were to go on a date they would maybe, slightly forget this evening for at least a second."
I calmed as the carriage pulled up to the manor, "Make sure the plan goes as planned. Better not worse. Happy not Sad. It's an order Sebastian." I had answered stiffly as I exited the carriage.
Hearing Sebastian's footsteps behind me, I knew that it has been another tiring day in my life, and my revenge has still not been taken. Once I entered, I silently let Sebastian take my coat.
Almost a minute later when I was about to make my tired body move, I could hear Sebastian muttering frustratedly from a far. 'What ever it is he can take care of it. What are butler's for anyways.' With that thought, I headed up to my bed where I would await Sebastian's return.
Sebastian's Point of View
'Honestly, I know they are tired and stressed, but couldn't they have made their way up the stairs and into their rooms?' Sebastian thought as he carried Robin to her room.
Robin squirmed and opened her eyes. She gave me one of the coldest glares she has ever given me, "I'm still angry with you for doing those bad things to Irene, but I want you to help me take care of her."
"I understand, My Lady," I smirked, "However, be sure to rest well, seeing as you have to clean tomorrow as your punishment."
"You're such a slave driver," Robin muttered as she fell asleep.
I sighed as I closed the door to her room. I made my way through the long hallway to reach Irene. As I made it to the entrance room I noticed her attempting to stand up and walk. However, as she collapses, I run to catch her. "Save Emerald, Sebastian," Irene whispered in her sleep.
"The only people whom I tend to save are you, Ms. Williams, and Lord Phantomhive." I had graciously said out back to her before scooping her up and pushing her body towards mine. Another long trek through out the manor it is.
As we arrived to her room, I couldn't help but smile. I couldn't comprehend why I was happy;it wasn't because she was sad. No, I think I was happy because she held on to me with trust. 'She is rather strange.'
I laid her down and tucked her in. I gently held her hand for a moment, giving myself time to think. As
I let go of her, I noticed a tear fall from her eye as she cried 'don't leave me.'
I sighed as I gazed at her, "What am I going to do with you?" I leaned over to Irene and whispered, "I will be back momentarily."
Ciel's POV
I quietly migrate from my office to Robin's room. I open the door ever so slightly, just to peek in. She was laying on her side, sleeping peacefully. I felt my face give a slight smile as I tucked her back into bed. I sat beside her only able to gaze at her sleeping face. 'Its rather odd... How she is able to sleep so soundly despite this evening's terrors."
Then again, my thought was cut short due to her squirming. "No more..." Robin mumbled as she cried in her sleep. I couldn't help, but feel sad for her, so I remained beside her for as long as I could.
Sebastian came in, not long afterwords. "My Lord, it is time to retire."
I said nothing as I followed Sebastian back to my room. The two of us remained silent as I prepared for bed. However, moments before Sebastian walked out of the room, I asked, "Is this really a good idea?"
Sebastian looked back at me, puzzled, "Is what a good idea, Young Master?"
I only looked at him as he awaited a response. The silence was eerie until I spoke up, "Is it a good idea to allow the girls to be courted by these men, especially considering they have only met once?"
Sebastian turned his head away for the first time, "I do not know, Young Master. Please do sleep well."
Sebastian's POV
With that, I returned to Irene's room for the night.
