Okay guys... I have to be completely honest. I have no excuses for why this took so long. The best I can come up with is... Overwatch released... then when i started getting bored of it, WoW:Legion launched, and I was spending all my time playing that. I won't promise the next chapter will be out sooner, I mean for it too, but I'm sure you guys are sick of false promises.

For all of you that stuck around during this long, unannounced Hiatus, Thank You.

The outskirts of Magnolia: Mirajane Strauss

"NOOOOOOOO!" Mirajane cried as Freed assaulted Elfman, forcing Mira to listen to the tortured cries of her older brother. 'I'm going to lose him too!' she thought in a panic, tears running down her cheeks. Elfman's repetitive cries of agony echoed over the landscape. Every one of them ripped at Mira's heartstrings.

Elfman fell to his knees. Freed was facing away from Mirajane, not even glancing at her as he rose his sword to Elfman's chest. "The final Dark Ecriture." Freed said in a cold, hard tone of voice. "Death."

Something inside of Mirajane snapped. She could feel her hopelessness, her anguish, her fear rising. But also her hatred, her anger, her rage. "D-Death?" she whimpered aloud, her heartbeat drumming in her ears. In that instant, she saw Lisanna's grave. She heard Elfman's beast-possessed roar. She heard Lisanna saying "Don't worry big brother, we still love you." She saw Elfman strike.

In the present, Mira's eyes widened as she relieved her final moments with her little sister.

"I feel… so strange." Lisanna whimpered, her eyes were milky and glassed over. "It's like… I can't move."

"Don't waste your energy." Mira whimpered softly, holding Lisanna's cold and growing ever more lifeless hand.

"W-Where did you go, Mira?" Lisanna asked.

"I-I'm right here…" Mira sobbed, watching her sisters head turn in her direction. She knew Lisanna couldn't see her.

"M-Mira… I just… want you to know…" Lisanna said weakly, before Mira felt her sister's hand go limp.

"Lisanna?" Mira whimpered.

"Lisanna?!"

"LISANNA!"

Mira felt raw magic energy rush through her veins for the first time in years. The dark, seething power that she hadn't felt since that tragic day. The power that could save her brother! She embraced it, let it take her over, and she cried out with all of the anguish and rage she held inside of her!

Her body changed, Mira could feel her scaled armor forming on her body, her fingers transforming into claws and her feet doing the same. She let out one last, bone-chilling scream as the dark power surged through her and completed her transformation.

Then she charged.

The Fairy Tail Guild Hall: Future Trunks b

He tapped his foot quickly against the ground as he, Gohan, his younger self, Goten, Natsu and Gajeel stood behind Levy as they waited for her to finish released the barrier. He was half concentrating on her incantation, half paying attention to what was going on between Mirajane and whomever she was fighting. Even though her opponent had undergone a power boost of his own, Mirajane was dominating the fight.

Her power was astounding to Trunks. He heard people say that Mira used to be an S-Class wizard, but he had no idea she was capable of this! However, it was disturbing how dark her power seemed to be, as if Mirajane had become something completely different. He grunted and twitched softly as he stared at the chanting Levy. Please hurry Levy… I need to get there!

At long last Levy sighed and turned around. "That should have done it!" she said with a bright smile. Trunks looked at her, then at the ground by the door. The line of runes was gone at last. He sensed out the battle and felt that Mirajane was still dominating her fight, while sensing this, he watched Gohan walk forward. There was a moment of tension before Gohan took a hesitant step forward, right outside the door.

Gohan turned and smiled, "I guess-" Trunks charged forward and flew past Gohan. "Trunks, wait!" He heard Gohan call out, but Trunks didn't listen. He immediately flew skyward and turned to the direction of Mira's battle. He could see small explosions of force from their blows, I'm coming Mira! Trunks thought, before roaring and powering up, then dashing skyward and shooting in the direction of the battle. Only a few moments had passed before he saw a flash of shadowy purple far in the distance. Suddenly the entire sky exploded in unholy purple light. The explosion carried enough force to make Trunks cover his eyes

"Just how strong is she?!" he wondered aloud, before realizing Mira's opponent's power had dropped like a stone after that last fight. Question for later! he thought, before surging forward once more.

The outskirts of Magnolia- Normal

Freed fell back, utterly defeated by Mirajane. I-I always knew she was powerful but… I never thought Mirajane was capable of this! he fearfully mused as Mira landed across from him. Her face shadowed with darkness before she roared, "FREED!" Freed barely had time to close his eyes and wait for her to charge before she roared out "DIE!"

The next moments happened in a flash. A shockwave pushed Freed onto his back. Mira had been stopped in her tracks. "W-What?" she snarled, looking up at whoever stopped her, then gasping as she saw who it was.

Trunks stood in front of her, a sad look on his face as his hand was wrapped around her wrist. The wrist belonging to the arm she was planning on using to slam Freed into the ground. "T-Trunks?" she muttered, initially, she felt only confusion, then a mixture of grief and anger at him. W-Why did he stop me?! She thought, her demonic rage starting to flare.

"Mirajane." Trunks said in a soft and sad tone, his expression gentle and melancholy.

Mira's anger flared, "How dare you, do you have any idea what he was about to do?!" he growled, remembering Elfman's cries of agony.

Trunks's voice took a hard edge as he responded, "I do! But what you were about to do… it isn't the person you are Mirajane!"

Mira's eyes narrowed as she growled, shaking softly. She didn't want to listen to what he was saying. "You barely know me!" she growled, at this point she just wanted to prove Trunks wrong! She was the demoness of Fairy Tail again! She wasn't going to let Freed hurt her brother again! She wouldn't lose him like she did Lisanna! "How do y-" she started, but her train of thought was broken as Trunks wrapped his arms around her.

Trunks held her close but gently, his arms tensing as he hugged her. Mirajane went slack in his grip for a moment, "You might be right. But I know one thing, Mira." Trunks said, looking down at her. She looked up, meeting his gaze. Even in her demonic form, she was the most beautiful woman Trunks had seen, he remarked inwardly, before moving his hand up to cup her cheek. "You're not like me Mirajane." he saw Android 18's face, twisted in fear before he destroyed her, and Android 17, lying unconscious before Trunks had finally ended the nightmare his future had turned into. He closed his eyes and squeezed her even tighter. "You're not a killer, Mira."

Mira let out a pained sob. Slowly, her transformation bled away, and she wrapped her arms around Trunks, holding him as well as she cried, "Trunks… I'm sorry…" She whimpered, burying her head in his chest.

"Shush Mira… It's okay… I was scared I lost you." Trunks hissed, the two of them standing, embraced as one for a few long, tender moments before Freed spoke.

"Why did you stop her?" He demanded, pushing himself up to his elbows and staring expectantly at the embraced couple.

"Because this battle is stupid." Trunks growled, holding Mira close, but staring down at Freed. Despite his harsh words, there was a soft, pitying look in his eye.

"You can both spare me your false pity." Freed said, "Just finish me off."

"I won't do that because we're allies." Mira responded from beside Trunks. "We're all members of Fairy Tail." She cooed, slithering out of Trunks's arms. She knelt beside Freed with Trunks standing behind her. Trunks's placed a hand on Mira's shoulder. "That means we work together," she continued, "we celebrate together, and we grow together." Mira cooed, sliding her hand up to rest over Trunks's

"No you're wrong!" Freed snapped back, "Laxus is my only true ally!"

"Listen, man." Trunks chimed in, looking down at Freed, "It doesn't need to be like that." He paused for a moment and thought of the Gohan from his future, taking a deep breath before continuing. "It's okay to have someone who you trust more than anyone else, its human nature, but that doesn't mean you need to shut out everyone else."

Mira smiled up at him and moved her hand atop of Trunks, much to the annoyance of a sidelined Elfman. "We're all a part of something bigger, we're like family." she cooed, looking back down at Freed. "No matter what, there will always be someone there for you." Mira's eyes filled up with tears as she released Trunks's hand to grab Freed's and smile "Once you have that connection… you'll never forget that it's there."

Freed's free hand reached up to cover his eyes. "I… I never wanted it… to end like this…" He sobbed.

"I know," Mira said gently, squeezing his hand one last time, "How about next year, we watch the Fantasia Parade together?" she cooed softly.

As Freed cried, comforted by the friendship he had, Mira would release his hand and stand up, she turned around and for a moment, her and Trunks stared at one another. A rush of emotions came over both of them, overwhelmed by what the other had done… and then Mira rushed forward and kissed him. Trunks's arms wrapping around Mira and holding her close while he deepened the kiss. The two of them lost in one another's presence.

At least until Elman cried out, "WHAT IN THE HELL ARE YOU DOING TO MY SISTER?!"

Atop the Magnolia toy store

"BARYON FORMATION!"

Lucy closed her eyes and tensed, all she had seen was a pillar of green energy rushing towards her. She knew she couldn't save herself from it, all she could do was wait for oblivion to come. A rush of activity that Lucy couldn't process followed suit. She felt a small, childlike hand grab her own and pull her out of harm's way, followed by a powerful explosion in the spot where she was moments before.

The moment Lucy landed she snapped her eyes open and gasped, standing above her with a dumb grin on his face was a shrunken down Goku! "Goten?!" she gasped, before looking over to the side. The first thing she noticed was a confused and dumbstruck Loke, holding his empty arms bridal style. The second thing was Kid Trunks, standing where she had been sitting, looking none the worse for wear.

"What jus-" Loke started to ask. He was interrupted by Trunks crying out and sending a blast of yellow energy at Bickslow's 'baby's.' The dolls dissolved in a blast of light as Trunks and Goten both cheered. Goten released Lucy's hand and jumped over to stand beside his friend.

Good job Levy! Lucy thought happily as she looked over at Goten and Trunks, only to have her vision obscured by Loke holding his hand out with a small smile. "Hey," She said simply, smiling as she took his hand and he helped her up. "How did you get here? Bicklow took my keys!" she cooed, before remembering, "MY KEYS!" She gasped, looking around, praying they didn't get vaporized in Trunks's attack!

"Here you go!" Goten shouted, before suddenly throwing them at her.

Lucy sighed and hugged them to her chest, smiling at the reunion.

Loke smirked, "To answer your question Lucy, I have no problem traveling between our worlds without you even needing to summon me!" for a long moment, the blonde celestial wizard and her loyal friend and spirit stared at one another, utterly unaware of Gohan looking up at them with a confused look.

"Are two dating or something?!" The tiny saiyan demanded grumpily. Lucy nearly choked as she tried to gasp as Loke gave a suave grin. Happy lived up to his name, laughing at Lucy's red face and blushing demeanor.

"GUYS!" Trunks warned, snapping the attention back to him. Bickslow's babies were rushing forward, headed right towards him. Just then, Goten hopped forward, holding his hand out and shouting. A blast of Yellow Ki shot from his hand and diminished the dolls into dust.

"Nice try kid." Bickslow praised, "but didn't you hear what I told the cheerleader? You can't destroy my babies, they're just souls!" he laughed wickedly, before five new dolls burst out of the toyshop, surrounding Bickslow, who sneered cockily.

Trunks and Goten traded a look, "You distract his little dolls and I'll go after the big guy, alright?" Trunks said. Goten nodded before both of them charged forward. With only a nod, Bicklow sent his babies flying forward. Goten quickly shot out in front of Trunks, his foot snapped out, sending one of the babies flying into another. He grabbed another by the foot and threw it into yet another, pushing the group to the left so Trunks could shoot by to the right.

As Goten started easily dodging all five dolls at once, Trunks flew to Bickslow. "Wha?" The Thunder Legion member said, before Trunks's leg snapped out to kick him down from his pedestal. Trunks smirked as he stood where Bickslow had moments earlier. "Without your little dolls you're a weakling aren't you?!" he stated with all the arrogance his heritage gave him, sneering down with his hands on his hips.

Goten continued dodging all five with little effort, ducking and juking every blow that was thrown his way before grabbing one by the foot, he spun around, bringing the one he had into the other four, breaking them into pieces before he threw the fifth away, holding out his hands, Gohan shouted, sending a beam of yellow ki outwards to utterly dissolve it, before dropping down to float by Trunks's side.

"You little brats are pretty good; I'll give you that." Bickslow laughed in his insane manner, raising his hand to his mask and lightly pulling it away from his face.

Immediately Leo roared out, "CLOSE YOUR EYES, NOW!"

Lucy, Happy, Goten, and Trunks all obeyed without question, their eyes snapping closed immediately as Bickslow's eyes glowed a wicked grin as he stared that them, daring any of the others to attempt to open their eyes.

"So why are our eyes closed?!" Trunks growled. He couldn't sense the dolls, but he could hear the slight whoosh they made when they flew. He dodged one that tried to hit his skull.

"Everyone in the Thunder Legion has special abilities that they can use with their eyes!" Happy responded. "Evergreen can turn people to stone with her eyes, but if you look into Bickslow's you become one of his babies, he'll steal your soul!"

Trunks growled as he continued dodging, Goten did the same, but the others didn't have the same heightened senses as the Saiyans, and were forced to bear through the brunt of the attack. Trunks thought about what Happy had said, His power is in his eyes… that means… I got it! Trunks grinned as an idea popped into his head. I've never done this before, but I don't think it'll be too hard! He thought, before flaring out his hand to either side of his face, "SOLAR FLARE!" Trunks shouted, before a searing and blinding light flashed in front of his face.

"What's happening?!" Lucy shouted, able to see the light seeping in through her eyelids.

Meanwhile, Bickslow had looked directly into the attack and had his eyes seared by its brilliance. "MY EYES!" he screamed, shutting his figure-eyes and holding his hands over the offended optical nerves. Realizing his friends plan, Goten jumped forward and opened his eyes, seeing Bickslow in his blinded state. In a moment, he pulled his fist back before slamming into Bickslow's stomach, sending him flying across the city.

Goten landed beside his friend, shooting a grin at Trunks, who grinned back, just as Lucy and the others opened their eyes. "You did it!" Happy cheered, jumping and holding a paw up in victory, even as Lucy and Loke high fived.

"That means the only one left is that blond guy, right?" Trunks asked with a grin.

"Mhmm! And the strongest person besides our dads is there!" Goten shot back, looking over Magnolia to the towering Cathedral that overlooked the city.

Kardia Cathedral:

Gohan stood alone outside of the closed doors of the looming cathedral, taking a deep breath. Another person had walked into the building only a moment before he had arrived, and now Gohan could sense the two of them standing off, not yet fighting, but talking, at least Gohan assumed. He reached out for the handle of the Cathedral, only to feel the two people inside clash at last, and a moment later the door burst open in front of him.

Laxus and someone who Gohan could only assume to be Mystogan stood across from one another, hands raised in each other's direction. "So you got out after all huh?" Laxus sneered angrily.

"You have Levy to thank for that." Gohan snapped back, before staring at him and Mystogan. the masked man's eyes met his own for a moment, and Gohan understood what he wanted, "I see your busy, and I'd hate to interrupt." he said in a calm tone, before nodding at Mystogan.

The masked mage took the initiative, slamming all of his staffs into the ground and growling out, "Skyscraper!"

Intrigue gripped Gohan as a wall of black energy wrapped around Laxus. Inside, Laxus screamed, "Impossible, the entire church?!"

Gohan's head swiveled around in confusion, what is he talking about? He thought, before suddenly, a realization dawned on him. "He's trapped in an illusion." Gohan muttered, half questioningly to Mystogan, who merely inclined his head in confirmation.

Laxus Dreyar

The last thing Laxus remembered was being flown up through the Cathedral as it exploded beneath him. The explosion so powerful it had engulfed the Cathedral in a blast of brilliant white light as Laxus stared down in shock and awe. He knew Mystogan wasn't that powerful.

But at the moment, he had bigger problems to deal with. Laxus was trapped alone in a black void. In every direction, all that was cast across his vision was darkness, a never ending void of unyielding darkness. Having no idea what was around him was infuriating to Laxus. He snapped his head around from side to side with an angry snarl rumbling from his throat. "WHERE ARE YOU HIDING MYSTOGAN?!"

Suddenly, behind Laxus, he heard a low, bone chilling creak. He spun around, only to feel his heart stop at the horrifying scene that seemed to be taking place behind him. The void seemed to be turning around, if Laxus had to put a word on it. Two eyes, lacking irises and only possessing pupils that were as black as the darkness surrounding the whites sat above lips that were a bright blood red.

Laxus stared up at the face, pure terror gripping his heart as he looked up at the soulless eyes, while the lips kept a slight, distant smile. Then, the entity said a single word. A simple, innocent word, that proved more horrifying than anything Laxus had ever experienced in his life.

"Hi."

Normal P.O.V.

Gohan and Mystogan both had been staring at the shroud of inky blackness that was wrapped around Laxus, trapping him in that illusion. Mystogan bore the same determined look he always did while Gohan watched the shroud curiously. Suddenly an ear piercing cry tore through the room. White lightning crackled from the black shroud that had engulfed Laxus, tearing him free from the illusion. He stumbled forward, gasping with an insane glint in his eyes.

"What did you see?" Mystogan asked, genuinely confused. His illusions had caused people to become a little disturbed before, but never to this extreme.

Laxus jumped at the sound of Mystogan's voice. He narrowed his eyes at the masked adversary, before growling and shaking his head. "Nothing just… just…" he saw a flash of black dots against pure white circles, "eyes."

Just as Gohan was about to inquire what he meant, the door burst open behind him, causing him and Mystogan to turn, and Laxus to shift his attention. "Erza." Mystogan said, half an acknowledgment, half a curse. Gohan wondered at the tone in his voice. Along with that fact, Natsu was with Erza, and for a moment, the redhead and the dragon slayer turned to acknowledge one another.

Mystogan stared at Erza with a slight panic, worrying that she might see his face, but turned back to the battle. Unfortunately, it was too late. Laxus sneered "You're wide open!" and shot a bolt of lightning at Mystogan's face. The cloth protected him from the worst of the attack, but at the cost of being shredded to pieces.

When the dust cleared Erza and Natsu both gasped, Jellal?! They thought at the same time, worry and anger filling Natsu, as grief and confusion overtook Erza. Gohan felt nothing but pure confusion, Haven't they ever seen his face? The saiyan thought, his eyes going back and forth from Mystogan to the duo who had just joined them. I guess not.

"J-Jellal?" Erza managed to whimper, voicing her thought from earlier. She looks… afraid. thought Gohan, who in the short time he knew her, never would have guessed Erza was capable of that emotion, and along with the fear, her eyes were swimming with tears, they threatened to start rolling down her cheeks, "B-But how… y-you're… still alive?" she questioned weakly. Gohan wasn't sure if there was more fear or hope in her voice.

"Oh, so you know this guy?" Laxus questioned as Mystogan turned his face. Gohan scowled at Jellal, feeling his anger at the cocky lightening mage flare.

It was Natsu who broke tension, "So Mystogan… is really Jellal?"

"Jellal, I-" Erza started to speak.

"Erza." Jellal cut her off, speaking for the first time since Erza and Natsu arrived. His face grew sorrowful as he stared down at the floor, "forgive me, I was afraid you'd see this." he said in a sad tone, Erza's expression changing to shocked sadness, "I'm not your friend Jellal. I do know of him, but, I am not him." His voice was flat and unemotional, but not unkind. Erza's look of confusion only grew deeper as Mystogan gave her one last, sad look. "I'm sorry, I have to go." He said, before disappearing into a cloud of smoke.

Natsu dove forward, "H-Hey! Wait up!" he shouted, trying to catch Mystogan before he evaporated.

"What the hell?" Gohan asked, blinking, His power level is gone too!

"Well… that made my brain hurt." Natsu swore, looking down, "Whatever, I can't think about it now." As he spoke, Gohan repositioned himself beside Natsu, but looked to his side, at Erza, who stilled seemed paralyzed from the events prior, "Alright man, it's you and me!" Natsu snarled, bending over in preparation to charge. "I'm going to take care of this clown, that cool with both of you?" Natsu demanded, staring at Gohan, who shrugged, figuring he could step in if things got out of hand. Natsu then turned his attention to Erza.

A strange feeling caught in his chest as he saw her confusion. It was worry, concern, as well as a tiny bit of jealousy. Natsu didn't want to focus on that last emotion, so he bared his teeth, "Wake up!" he shouted. The emotions he was feeling before suddenly twisted into rage as Erza was shocked by lightning. Her cries of pain echoing throughout the Cathedral.

Natsu was about to charge, but before he could Gohan had moved faster than any of them could see. The Saiyan stood infront of Laxus, the lightening now colliding with his chest, but Gohan barely felt it as anything more than a tickle. Laxus halted the stream of lightening and straightened up. He and Gohan glared at one another, the two young, powerful men glaring as Natsu rushed over to help Erza, making sure she was okay.

Laxus's demeanor eventually lightened, his lips curling into a lightly amused smirk as he slid his hands into his pockets. Gohan continued staring, his onyx eyes meeting Laxus's gray ones.

"So then." Laxus sneered, "You're not as pathetic as you look afterall."

To those of you who stuck around, Thank you so much for continuing to support this story throughout it's hiatus!

Most of you will probably be angry to find out that I had most of this done about two months ago, however, burn out and other things had just... really soaked my enjoyment of writing. However I do feel a little more into now.

So while I cannot promise, I can say that I will try.

And Hey, I'm still probably faster than GRRM!

Just half as talented
