A/N: One day late, but I am still here. :) I have to admit this chapter is kind of strange... Enjoy XD
12:00
A second passed… two seconds, three, four, five, six, seven… The time ran quickly as Kaito stared at someone right in front of him with his jaw completely opened, ignoring everything else around him. His eyes wide open, he just stared and stared and stared, unable to look away.
There stood the most amazing, cute and sweet creature he ever had seen. Screw puppies and cats! That little creature was ten times cuter, even with that annoyed frown on her adorable face! "Tantei!" Kaito yelled from happiness, hugging the little girl without thinking twice!
Yes, the person who had ringed his bell was his lovely Tantei… but this Tantei looked lovelier than usual with long hair braided to the left, gently falling on her shoulder; a cute black and white jumpsuit, short black boots, a scarf and a panda hat! She was wearing a panda hat! "Tantei, Tantei, Tantei…" Kaito sung, hugging her even closer as if she was a teddy bear while ignoring her protests. His Tantei was wearing a panda hat, looking absolutely… Wait, he needed to take a picture of that! Where was his dam camera when he needed it?
Turning around, trying to remember where he had left his camera, a voice he didn´t recognize called him back to earth. Looking back rather suspiciously, he froze when an unknown woman smiled back to him. Now he wouldn´t be that surprised if it was just some other woman, but that one gave him creeps. Her light blue eyes looked so cold… In addition, she was right in front of his door, what kind of forced him to wonder where Tantei had gotten those clothes.
"Hello there, Kid-san." The woman said, and Kaito took a few steps back shocked and confused. Who was that woman and how did she know he was… Oh, wait, that voice… "Yes, I believe we have talked once before. Nice to see you face to face, thou."
Gulping, his eyes running from Tantei´s exasperate face to Vermouth´s amused one, Kaito was taken aback. How come Shinichi was hanging out with that woman… who, according to Haibara-san, belonged to the organization they were trying to destroy?
"Just go in." Shinichi stated after a moment, not even trying anymore to escape Kaito´s clutch. It was pointless, and honestly she was too tired to even try. "I said go in!" She repeated even more annoyed when he didn´t move, knowing they were making a scene at the entrance.
After a moment of silence, Kaito finally moved. Maybe he was lost in thoughts… or maybe his brain finally became fried bacon after so many strange things happening. In any case, Vermouth followed him without saying a word, closing the door as if that was her house.
"It didn´t change a bit…" Shinichi heard her say, but that was it. Only she heard her, as that annoying magician was still starting at both of them confused, his face and eyes blank. Yup, his brain became fried bacon… Poor, poor guy…
As they entered the room, a surprise was waiting for Shinichi. Hattori Heiji, that idiot who only brought her trouble in the last few hours, smiles as an idiot the moment he saw her. In addition, as if to make things worse, since she really didn't´ want to explain the Western Detective exactly what was their enemy doing there; Hakase was also in the room. And that only meant one thing: Haibara was around. "Oh god…"
"Kudo!" Heiji muttered, running quickly to the how the shrunk teen was going… only to stop at his tracks when he noticed exactly what she was wearing. "Oi, Kudo, what the hell happened to you?" His wary, and amused, face made her even more irritated, as she wished she could just take that hat off and throw it in the trash. This is what happened when your mom was in touch with the only person who managed somehow to get the best of you… Thank god she managed to escape before Vermouth forced the matching panda outfit on her…
"Shut up." The chibi-detective warned, ready to poke someone´s eyes. She was in no mood for games… or to be laughed at. "Sorry for worrying everyone. Hakasa, if Haibara here?" The older man started at her for some seconds, shaking his head to her surprise.
"Actually, she stayed at home. It would be rather suspicious if we both disappeared somewhere now that Conan disappeared too." The older man explained, but he seemed suspiciously uncomfortable. "I came here on her behalf to get the blood you left. I´ll go now. Give me a call when I should come to pick you up."
Yup, he was too uncomfortable. As if he was lying to her… "Oh… Ok. Tell Haibara I am feeling well now, no need to worry." Since he was acting, and the fact Hattori looked confused to the kitchen, it meant Haibara was there. However, she would never appear if Vermouth was there. Shinichi still didn´t know why, but those two hated each other to death. Did they fight over a boy or some…? You know what, that thought was rather distinguish.
"I will." Disappearing into the corridor, Hakase gave Shinichi once last glace. For some reason, he felt like things were getting even more complicated than before, as if her situation wasn´t complicated enough. Then again, this is Kudo Shinichi he was thinking about. Nothing near her was uncomplicated.
As Hakase disappeared, the door closing after a moment, the living room fell into silence. Kaito´s mother was nowhere to be seen, leaving the teen´s and Vermouth by themselves for the time being. "So…" Hattori started, his eyes running to the tall woman who sat down on the sofa without saying a thing. "Where had you been, Kudo?"
The small detective sighed out loud, wondering how should she answer… when she realized something, Kaito was still holding her! And when she said holding, she meant that he was hugging her as if she was some damn teddy bear! "Kaito!" She yelled getting red all of sudden. "Let me go!"
Vermouth´s lip corners turned up a little bit, but she resisted the urge to laugh. Silver-chan was surely enjoying it, but something in her nature compelled her to stay away from people. Now, now, maybe she should work on it with her later.
"But Tantei!" Kaito started to complain, only to get his mouth closed. "But… But…" Every time when he tried to say something, the hand was back, as well as annoyed blue eyes. Damn, sometimes she could be such a pain… Sitting her near him, he let her go… Or more like he stopped hugging her, but his eyes were on her to make sure she didn´t disappear from near him. And of course Tantei didn´t notice that…
"I was with her." Pretending as if that moment hadn't happened, Shinichi tried to get that hat from her head, only to have it back on. "Hattori, I believe you still don´t know her. At least not face to face. Hattori, this is Vermouth, AKA Chris and Sharon Vineyard." Taking the hat off again, she waited a few moments with her hands ready to grab Kaito´s, when she realized the hat was already on.
"Wait, what?!" Hattori yelled startled, staring at Vermouth as if he never have seen her. And considering he hadn´t, it wasn´t that much surprising. "What is she doing here? Don´t tell me Kudo was replaced by some copy and now they are here to get us…"
Clearing her voice, getting somewhat even more annoyed, Shinichi grabbed that stupid hat, holding it with both her hands. "Sit down and listen the rest, Hattori."
"But! She is the enemy!" Hattori yelled one last time, before a deadly glare was sent his way and he sat down obediently. "Yes, sorry, continue." He needed to make sure he never irritated neither Kudo nor science-neechan when they were together. One would poison him and the other would make sure his body was never found…
"As I was saying…" Staring at her hands were the hat wasn´t anymore, Shinichi´s eyes searched for it. "She has some really important information which could help us catch the organization…. But for that, there is something which needs to be done." Damn, that annoying hat was on her head again! How did Kaito manage it?
"Silver-chan, you are taking too long." Vermouth talked for the first time, smiling a little as Hattori glared at her suspicious. Well, considering his best friend was a paranoid shrunken detective, that look was already to be expected. "I need your help to get Bourbon out of the country. Alive."
A pair of violet and green-blue eyes gazed at her as if she was insane, Shinichi at that time struggling with the stupid hat which seemed to have been glued to her hair; Vermouth cracked laughing. Not because of the hat, since that also was hilarious, but because of the glances she was sent.
"You are…" she mumbled, trying hard not to start laughing again. However, she looked at them again, seeing an even more worried look, she couldn´t help but laugh again. It was like they were wondering if she was the crazy one, considering they hung out with a chibified detective who honestly did not enjoy human company. She bet Silver-chan ignored them most of the times…
"Ok, ok, I am controlled now." Vermouth stated, smiling as Shinichi finally took off the hat and started looking for some matches or anything to burn it with. That angry look gave her away pretty easily. "No, I am not joking. Unless we do that, and when I say we it involved Silver-chan and you guys; the people from FBI, and organization, will end up learning that Conan in Shinichi and that the drug isn´t always deadly. Now, I believe you see the reason for you to help, don´t you?"
The silence took over the room once again, and the hat was taken away from Shinichi in a quick and silent movement; allowing its occupants to think for a moment. However, that moment didn´t last long. "So… when and how are we supposed to do this?"
Glaring at the floor irritated, finally giving up and accepting the fact Kaito wouldn´t allow her to get rid of that stupid and annoying hat, Shinichi mumbled. "Tomorrow…"
12.00
The cold and yet warm afternoon quickly filled with people who hurried looking for some place to eat, aware the lunch hour wouldn´t last forever and they weren´t the only people interested in food. So, the usually calm police station rapidly became more lively, police officers running from one place to another to make sure they had enough time and money to buy food. Those who couldn´t leave asked others to buy food, promising to pay back somehow.
12:10
A little girl made her way to the back alley near the police station, her hair neatly caught into a pointy-tail. She moved slowly but with confidence, a bag following her every move. Back the alley she stopped, looked around, and took out something from her bag. The darkness of the alley, and the lack of light coming from the dark clouds hovering on top of the city, made it impossible for her to be noticed. That and the fact she was using black clothes… and the fact no one bothered looking into that alley.
12:15
"It´s time." Someone whispered into a small mike hidden somewhere on their clothes, noticing the amount of people in the station and outside was rather small. That was the exact moment they have been waiting for hours now. "Move."
The small girl nodded, listening everything through the wireless earphone she was using. Jumping on top of a trash can, she opened the ventilation system canal, which was small enough for her to crawl in. She left the grids open, aware of the fact she needed it to escape anyway. "I´m in."
12:17
A blond woman sighed annoyed, sitting down tired. "Damn, nothing is working." She stated, her blue eyes focusing on her new friend who also sighed annoyed. They have been trying to crack that man for who knows how long now… and they still hadn´t heard him say a single word. They had him on assault with a gun, but it wasn´t enough. They knew he was part of the organization, and yet they couldn´t prove it.
"I know… But we need to have hope." Her friend stated, staring at the clock irritated. "And how are we going on Conan´s case?" The blond woman shook her head, making the short dark haired woman even more depressed. "That did promised to call us… and yet we haven´t heard from him for days!"
"I don´t get this. We have been searching for him in every record we own, and yet Edogawa Conan doesn´t exist!" Jodie exclaimed, hitting the table in irritation. The stress had been piling up… and for them that wasn´t such a good thing. "No finger print, social number… I don´t understand this. How come he was allowed to attend school again?"
"Jodie, calm down." Sato stated, despite the fact she was feeling exactly the same. "He´ll call soon, and then we´ll ask all questions we have. In addition, his cousin is supposed to arrive here soon. Maybe she´ll give us some answers."
12:18
"Maybe you are right…" Hitting her cheeks slightly, Jodie decided to let it go. "Is Takagi going to bring us lunch? I´m so hungry I swear I will eat whatever he brings…" They have been at the station for over ten hours now… Actually, they hadn´t left it since yesterday, deciding to try and get some information out of the man they had captured.
"Yes, he will." Staring at the clock, Sato allowed her body to rest for a moment, while her mind thought about things. The man they have been trying to break was white haired with a dark skin and an always polite smile. Honestly, even when they asked him about his relationship with the organization, he just smiled. Now that was creepy.
12:19
"Where are you?" Someone asked the little child who slowly climbed through the ventilation system, careful not to make any unnecessary noise. She was in no position to get caught… neither she nor the people helping her.
"Almost at the room." She mumbled, smiling when she reached the grids she have been waiting to see for some moments now. "I´m here. Waiting for the signal."
12:20
"Takagi is taking his time…" Sato complained, staring proud at the drawing she just did. It looked exactly like the dark-skinned man… or more like the color did, since nothing in the picture minimally resembled the man. "He usually doesn't take this long."
Nodding, Jodie stood up, her head turned to the interrogation room. "How about we try again? Maybe if we keep insisting he will change his mind…" Sato looked at her, and then at the room, contemplating such probability.
Somewhere else, still in the building, a certain child jumped from the ventilation system. "Ok, I have five minutes, right?" Moving towards the door, she quickly picked up the lock. Thanks god it wasn´t something more advanced, or else she would have lost a lot of her time. "Make sure no one approaches."
As the door opened, she run in without wasting time, because there was no time to waste. Blue eyes quickly analyzed the room, spotting the person she was looking for. "Found him." Running towards the person chained to the chair, who appeared to be sleeping, she took out the key an idiot thief had given her… How did he get it anyway?
"Oi, wake up!" She called, slowly hitting the person sitting on the chair. "I said wake up!" The man opened his gray eyes in shock and panic, searching for the source of the noise rather suspiciously. If that was another tactic of those woman to get some info out of him… However, as his eyes swept the room wide clean, he frowned. There was no one there…
"Here, idiot!" A voice called again, and the man jumped surprised. Looking down at those blue eyes, he wondered if he was going crazy. That or he was still sleeping. "We have no time. Move quickly." A small hand took his, now free from cuffs, dragging him out of the room while he still started at its owner stunned.
Blinking a few times, Bourbon tried to collect himself. "Why are you here, Conan-kun?" That was his first question, his mind unable to get over the shock of seeing him, or should he say her; there. Vermouth was the one supposed to free him, not that child… "You are helping Vermouth? Oh god, if only Gin knew…"
Shaking her head, trying really hard not to regret her choice and leave him behind, Shinichi mumbled into the mike. "Target acquired. Will leave in three seconds. Coast clear?"
12:23
"I´m here!" A tall man stated happily, arriving to the room with a bunch of bags. "The row was rather long today. A woman got into a fight with the manager. Something about serving the fish cold…" As his voice died, with him staring at the two woman who were half their way to the interrogation room already, he frowned. "Sato-san, Jodie-san, the lunch arrived."
Sato laughed slightly, embarrassed she got caught. Takagi had asked her to rest for a while… and few minutes after he was gone, she was going back to work already. "Sorry, sorry. But we got this idea to try and…"
"And we thought we would do it while you were gone." Catching Sato´s hand, dragging her back to her seat, Jodie smiled even more. "Go have lunch with Takagi. I´ll try reasoning with him by myself." Sato smiled too, holding Jodie with more strength than necessary.
"If I will stay here, my dear friend" She started, her eyes burning. "So will you. Now, let´s eat together, no?" The two of them started at each other for a moment, sparkles flying everywhere, before they laughed it off and sat down. "I thought so."
A man in his late thirty was sitting at the entrance, watching everyone´s movements with attention. Taking his phone off, he mumbled into it. "Coast clear. Go, go, go." His temporary code name was White… despite the fact his skin was actually darker than usual. "Wait, someone entered the corridor just now…"
"Leave him to me." A woman stated, going out of the bathroom to meet with a tall and yet kind of ugly man. He smiled to her, since she was a beautiful woman after all, and tried to walk towards his goal. However, before he had the chance to do it, the woman hit him from behind, throwing him into the bathroom unconscious and tied. "Coast clear now. Bring him."
12:25
A teen with violet eyes started at the computer worried, sighing when the child and the dark-skinned man disappeared from the corridor which lead to the interrogation room. Actually, it truly was a blessing he had the police station map, otherwise nothing would have been possible.
The police station consisted of many floors, the Homicide Department located on the second floor. The elevator which gave access to it was connected to one big corridor, which lead to many doors which hid other smaller corridors. One of those lead to the interrogation room, where the subject they needed to acquire was being held.
Sighing again, as the camera started to work again, the teen thanked lady luck. For now, she seemed to be on their side… If something went wrong, if his montage or computer malfunctioned, Tantei would have been caught. And that´s not something he wanted.
"The alarm in the basement will be turned on in five minutes." The teen stated to a microphone right in front of him, his eyes checking the police movements. "Get ready and act according to the plan." Now that they had acquired the target, all they needed was to escape…
12:26
In the bathroom a blond woman was waiting eagerly, her make-up and disguise utensils ready to be used and abused. She was a pro when it came to it, and that was the day to prove it one more time. As the door opened and a small child run in, Vermouth smirked. "So, how did it go?" She knew how it went, but she loved annoying the little detective a little too much.
"Shut up and let´s get over this…" But of course she wasn´t happy about the situation. Who would be? However, now she had had the chance to play the role of a thief. Maybe now she would respect that professional a little bit more.
"Yes, yes." Bourbon followed her without saying anything, his eyes analyzing and absorbing everything which huge speed. However, she knew it wouldn´t last long. "Sit down, we have little time and many things to do."
The man smiled, watching amused as Shinichi climbed to the ventilation system, opened it and disappeared into the dark. "So, how did you manage to get her to help?" Bourbon asked, smirking even more as Vermouth started at him slightly annoyed.
"I knew you won´t keep quiet." The blond woman complained, looking from time to time at an image next to her. "I kept my part of the deal, and you keep yours. I don´t plan on chasing you who knows where as long as you keep quiet."
"Yes, yes." A mask was put on him, making him a completely different person. "That still don´t explain how you managed to convince her." Vermouth smiled, but said nothing. "Oh, it´s one of those secrets… You keep too many of them, Too many indeed."
Rolling her eyes, happy with the result, she took all her tool and threw them out the small window, hitting the container right next the wall. "Look who´s talking. Gin hates you almost as much as he hates me when it comes to that topic. I truly think he prays we don´t join some kind of crazy plan together."
"He sure does." Taking a few steps to get used to his new body, Bourbon nodded, signaling he was ready.
12:30
The station was rather calm when all of sudden, without a warning, an alarm sound ringed through the building, indication someone had broken in. The police man stood up almost in harmony, their faces twisted with confusion. Who was the idiot stupid enough to break in into a police station in the middle of the day?
"We´ll go." Two man stated, running to the elevator, where some people were already waiting for it to go down. No one would break in and get away unpunished. They had pride on their security. If they were unable to protect their station, how could they protect the city?
In the basement, ten or more police officers slowly searched for an intruder… The silence and adrenaline made them more careful, sweeping the room from one pint to another… Only to find out it was just a false alarm. The security system malfunctioned for some reason, the IT people already searching for it.
"How strange…" Sato stated, stopping eating her ramen. That usually did not happen. Narrowing her eyes in confusion, she wondering if it was possible someone had really broken in and they hadn´t realized it.
"Agreed." Jodie put down her spaghetti. The police system did not malfunction all of sudden. Unless the system was old and worthless… "Hey, where did that person go?" If she remembered well, and she did remember; a man had been sitting near the door waiting for some officer she couldn´t remember. However, now that she looked there, he was gone.
"That middle aged man?" Takagi asked, also remembering him sitting there. "Did he left? Maybe the sound frighten him and run away?" Faint possibility, but it still was a possibility. "It´s not like he came here to watch over us while someone steals something from us… or someone."
Blue and gray eyes met startled, before both woman jumped up in hurry. That was impossible… A few officers jumped out of their way, noticing the deadly look. And they stormed through the corridor, reaching the interrogation room, opening the door… and swearing.
"Sh*t! F*ck this sh*t!" Jodie yelled through the room, hitting the wall in annoyance, furry and regret. "How… when… I…" The woman next to her reacted almost the same way, her eyes narrowing even more in a rather dangerous way.
"Jodie-san?" Takagi, who had ran after them worried, was forced to crawl out of the way as they scared the hell out of him with their looks. He truly hopped who ever made them that angry wouldn't´ appear before them any soon.
"Boss, this is Jodie. One of them escaped… or more like someone helped him escape." Before anyone knew it, Jodie was already on the phone with her boss. "We need to lunch an alert to all airport, rods, docks.."
"This is Sato Miwako, number XXXXXX. A suspected has escaped. Name Amuro Tooru."
In a faraway airport, a certain pair of people stared at each other. Or more like the woman stared, while the man only smiled childishly.
"Are you sure?" Vermouth asked without thinking, looking at the person in front of her without believing what she was hearing. Bourbon just smirked even more, nodding. "This is not a game. If you get caught, Gin will kill you without thinking twice." Once again, the man just smirked and nodded.
"It sounds fun." The dark skinned man said all of sudden, his grin widening even more. "All I care about is finding Akai. And for some reason, I am pretty sure I will find him if I stick up to her..." Shaking her head, Vermouth stared at him for a moment. She knew his fixation with Akai Shuichi was more than healthy, but to go to such extend... Did they fight over a girl or something?
"I can´t stop you from doing it... but if you put her in danger with your stupid actions, I will find you, torture you and kill you." Bourbon gulped nodding. Well, he wasn´t planning on bringing any trouble, so nothing would happen to him. Right? He could handle Gin somehow, but not Vermouth... That woman was crazier than anyone he knew.
"Got it, got it..." He sure hopped everything went well, or else he would become friend bacon. And he didn´t like bacon that much. No, honestly, he didn´t like bacon at all.
Taking the plane ticket he was given, Bourbon quickly said his goodbyes and run to the plane, aware his time was running out. After all, he had FBI after him. And thou it usually did not bring any problems, he had found that the Japanese police could be really irritating and smart for some reason. Or maybe it was some annoying detectives that were... Oh well.
Watching as the place took flight, hearing the police sirens from afar, Vermouth made her away out of the airport. Silver-chan was right. People from the organization were rather strange, and insane. Sighing, she looked at her clock for a moment before smiling. Her place would leave soon too... "Good luck, Silver-chan."
