A/N: so this is the homeland of one of the main characters of project dark sun, enjoy. Also, A big shoutout to Pariahdigm Shift , a YTBers who has a special way of storytelling of dark souls 2, do check him out :)

Disene's Mires

Location:

Also known as the Blightlands, it is part of the great swamp, it is located in a far and desolate section of the great swamps. It is rarely visited before and after the curse due to its hazardous nature.

Nature:

Unlike the great swamps, Disene's Mire originated from the rotting corpse of a colossal being who dies long ago. Its black flesh and bones still rots till this day giving Disene's Mires this distinct black swamp. Black fog enshrouds the swamp permanently to the point that many of the natives forgot the existence of the very sun itself.

Fauna and Flora and abutment despite the circumstances with unseen variety, In Disene's Mires pretty much anything can kill everything since many creatures had developed various offensive and defense mechanism to ensure its welfare.

Men of the Disene's Mire:

None is certain why humans would go to this blight riddled place. The humans in the Disene's Mire are very , very few barely exceeding a couple of hundreds. The majority of them are scattered in a solitary life of sort like a lone wolf relying on his/her wits and strength. Others, decides to unite in a large settlementwhich is in fact the remnants of the head of the fallen creature of old.

The mortality and birth rate are extremely high within their society as Children rarely survive beyond ten years not from endless diseases ( which do occur but various remedies counteracted it) but from the harsh life standards and the predators of this lands. There is no place for rest or pity in their society; at the age of seven, Children are forced to accompany the adults in their hunts….many die in the process. They possess high resistance to various poisons and other biological hazards by time.

The constant raids of larger predators occur on weekly if not daily basis. Small sized predators can snatch a child or two in the fray. However, when the child passes this weak threshold and become an adult, the chances of him/her getting killed is greatly reduced.

Men have a pale black skin to cope with their environment; they are usually slim and fit with little muscular power as agility is their sole method of survival. Some are trappers for both offensive (hunting) and defensive (putting traps around settlements) purposes while others are excellent fighters/hunters. Men rarely take little interest in magic (nonexistent), pyromancy (has great influence over them), miracles (to some extent).

Women have a similar figure and role in their enclosed society. They are dangerous pyromancers and Blighters (See Below). If a greater threat arises (like huge beasts) they will intervene as they are considered the elite of the society with their pyromancy and disease-oriented miracles. They rarely fight with weapons though.

Another thing worth mentioning is their language which is an odd mixture of other languages indicating some heterogeneous origin. Due to the lack of outside contact, few understand the common tongue (English?)

While lone wolves of the Blightlands tend to be aggressive, territorial (some even forgot how to speak, they walked the path of the beast) the men of the Disene's Mire are docile unless provoked. Their intellect is not as high as those of Vinheim but they are not some mindless savages either. They are a bit conservative when introduced to better ways of life.

Weapons:

There are no sources of metal in Disene's Mire for a good reason since swords (traded with outsiders) corrode quickly from various factors. Most of their arsenal is of biological origin. Some of the creatures have teeth/claws harder the cold steel. There is little use for ranged weapons; pyromancy usually suffices such need.

Pyromancy:

Nature is abundant in the Disene's Mires, a perfect place for inner meditation to create powerful pyromancies. Some are forbidden due to their destructive powers. Some pyromancies are heavily related to disease and blight.

Miracles:

A miracle is a pray to a certain god to aid his/her followers in their time of need. Long ago, they were introduced to the teaching of Calib , the god of disease, who can understand their pain. His 'miracles' are some mixture of nasty diseases and "Status effects" to the 'healthy'. Never to be underestimated….

Sorcery/Hexes:

Nonexistent, even when some wanderlust adventurers step outside of the swamp, the detest the needless complexity of soul arts, same goes to hexes.

Outside Disene's Mires

-Some will worship this magnificent body up in the skies which is the sun of course. They will probably join the sunbros.

-Others will be gang up with bandits due to their superb ambush technique that will ensnare/kill any unwary traveler.

-In Dark souls/Dark souls two, they can REALLY take care of themselves. Take two undeads for an example thrown to the burg: A bookworm Sorcerer of Vinheim who never ventured outside the safe walls of his city Vs a blighter who killed a beast triple her size when she was only SEVEN. The chances of survival tilt towards the Blighters. She/ he can scavenge anything to eat, set traps, and improvise (like squeezing the poison moss on his /her weapon for extra poison effect)

-Like men and women of the great swamps, they are antisocial and they are afraid of what's new. So as a team, they are terrible. Do mind the whole language issue as well.

-Their practices/sacrifices for Calib might repel any possible friends or allies. Furthermore, Way of white/Blue sentinels or any 'holy' covenant might decide to 'purge' this scourge.

The Blighters

A deadly mixture of casters with various status effects. Mostly women but not restricted though. Calib considers the healthy as ungrateful, snotty souls who look at the diseased with disgust. His teaching urges his followers to plague the lands and its people. However, hollows and undead are considered soul kinsmen in which the darksign had corrupted their souls.

Blighters are more powerful when they acquire lots of diseases. Many blighters died in order to achieve this goal. Few ever achieved this high state of blight. Their talismans are usually of body parts.

So yeah here you go :D More on Calib's Miracles in the next chapter!
