Christmas Drabbles: mince pies
Because Molly Weasley was such a good cook, her namesake was, of course, expected to be a good cook as well.
The Second, however, was not. Molly Weasley II, nicknamed 'Two' among her family and friends, could not cook to save her life, no matter how hard her grandmother tried to teach her.
They tried together in the hopes that some of the original's talent would rub off, she tried with her mum, a not-so-bad cook herself, she tried baking cookies and cooking latkes and grilling fish. Nothing worked.
Two could just not cook.
She could read about cooking, no problem. If you wanted the ingredients for mince pies, she could rattle them off with the ease of an encyclopedia. If you wanted to double a recipe and needed help with the measurements, it took her all of two seconds to figure out the new measurements.
But Molly Weasley the II just did. not. cook.
It didn't take her family long to learn how to charm a microwave to work in a magic household.
