Chapter 26: Goodbye.

Yamato's POV

I was walking out of the dormitory with Akane, when Kaname stopped me in my tracks. I figured it would be alright to see what he wants, because Akane was walking ahead of me, so she probably wouldn't notice my absence.

I followed him back to his room, while the other vampires stared wide-eyed at me. After we got into his room, I stared at him in a bored manner and asked, "What do you want?"

He sighed as he sat down at his desk, "I want to talk about Akane..."

"What about her," I asked.

Before he could answer, I started to feel light-headed.

Akane and I are too far away from each other... If the distance between us gets any further, we'll be completely separated, and we won't be the same person anymore, thus making us both incomplete, and on the verge of death...

"Damn it," I cursed under my breath.

Kaname noticed my struggling and quickly stood up, "What's wrong?"

"Nothing," grunted, walking towards the door, "I just have to find Akane..."

He held my shoulders and scanned my face with his crimson eyes, "It doesn't seem like it's nothing. Tell me what's wrong with you."

I pushed his hands away and opened the door, "I already told you, I just need to find Akane."

I've told Kaname before about how I'm Akane's other half, however, I did not tell him about the part where if we were to be separated, we would die.

I briskly walked down the hallway and towards the staircase, but at that moment, my world started spinning and everything was enveloped by darkness.

Kaname's POV

Yamato looked uneasy and I could tell he was struggling to keep his balance as he stormed down the hallway. Just as he approached the stairs, he fainted, but before he could fall down the steps, I caught him and carried him to Akane's room.

What exactly is wrong with him? Why was he insisting on finding Akane so horribly?

Akane's POV

Zero released his grip on my collar and looked at the ground, "Why do you do this to me?"

Tears stained my face as I looked at him, "What do you mean?"

He sighed and turned his back to me, "It's nothing... just forget about it."

I took a step towards him as he started to walk away.

The moment I stepped forward, I felt a sharp pain jolt through my head, and before I knew it, my vision became pitch black.

I could hear Zero saying my name, but his voice felt so distant, until finally, I couldn't hear anything anymore, nor could I move.

Zero's POV

As I started to walk away, I heard a slight whimper escape Akane's lips. I quickly turned around and saw her fall to the ground.

I ran towards her and caught her, "Akane! Akane, what's wrong!?"

It was no use, she was already unconscious.

What's wrong with her?

I picked her up and started walking towards the Moon Dormitory. After I got to the dormitory, I carried her to her room, and saw Kaname there, along with an unconscious Yamato.

He stood up the moment he saw Akane, "What happened to her?"

"I don't know," I said quietly, "She just fainted..."

He looked down at Yamato with a worried expression, "The same thing happened to Yamato..."

Why would Akane and Yamato both faint at the same time?

I laid Akane on the bed, and sat down on the chair beside her window.

I hope she'll be alright...

At that moment, Akane and Yamato's eyes both fluttered open.

"Akane," Kaname said, walking over to her, "Are you alright?"

Akane's POV

I opened my eyes and noticed that I was back in my room. My head still hurt a lot, but not as much as it did before...

"Akane," Kaname said in a worried tone as he walked over to me, "Are you alright?"

I sat up and ran my fingers through my hair, "Y-Yeah... I'm fine..."

After I said that, Yamato sat beside me on the bed and sighed, "It seems my time is up..."

"What do you mean," I asked.

He stood up and looked down at me with guilt in his eyes, "You still feel the pain too, right? It's because we've been separated for too long, plus we were too far apart from each other. If I don't permanently merge my personality with yours soon, there's a chance that we won't be the same person anymore, and we'll both die."

"Permanently," I questioned, "What do you mean by that?"

He sighed again, "I'll no longer exist, it'll be just you..."

Tears started to well in my eyes, "So, what you're saying is, I won't be able to see or hear you anymore?"

He nodded, "Exactly... Don't make that sad face, idiot," he said half-heartily, "I'll always be with you. We are the same person, you know. It'll be fine..."

As unbelievable as it may be, I was just starting to like having Yamato around...

Tears started to fall from my eyes and I stood up, "Do you have to do it?"

He smiled sadly, "Yeah, I do... But hey, at least now you can say that you're the one with the abilities," he paused and looked down, "I guess this is goodbye..."

Even if we are the same person, it still hurts...

My heart ached so much that I couldn't speak, all I could do was cry. I hugged Yamato tightly and buried my face in his chest, somehow managing to whisper, "Goodbye..."
