She threw her purse on the couch and yelled: "Jenny! I've got to tell you something!"
"Oh, hey, Buffy!"-Jenny got out of the kitchen and smiled when she saw a huge grin on Buffy's face. The girl was actually hopping from one foot to the other, and Jenny couldn't believe what a transformation it was. It was good to see a happy Buffy, she hadn't really had a chance to see it yet.
"You look happy! Did you win lottery?"-Jenny joked.
"Better! My friends will come to Cleveland to see me! Probably this weekend! God, something smells good!"
"That's great news! Do you think..."-Jenny wanted to ask, but Buffy interrupted her:
"Giles will totally come! If I have to go there and drag him by his ears, I will! And, don't worry, they'll stay at the hotel... God, seriously, Jenny, what are you cooking?"
Jenny giggled, Buffy was making her laugh. She was like a totally new person, she loved seeing her so happy and excited!
"I'm making tortillas with chicken, peppers, tomatoes, and a bit of chilli... By the way, they don't have to stay at the hotel, I've got plenty of room here."
"Uh, but... my... non-girlfriend will... well, should also come... and I don't want you to feel awkward if, you know..."-Buffy got all embarrassed and she didn't really know how to finish the sentence. Her completely red face finished it for her.
"Oh, Buffy, don't worry about it, she can also come. I gotta meet whoever got you so worked up that you can't even speak..."-Jenny teased a little, she just couldn't help it because Buffy made it so easy.
"Jenny, you're awesome! Gotta call... everybody!"-Buffy exclaimed and ran to the living room to get her cell phone. She just couldn't wait to sort things out and make sure everyone, including Faith, could come over and see her.
She was extremely excited about having Giles at Jenny's place cause it was obvious that Jenny liked him, and liked him a lot. Giles would have to be completely retarded not to like her back because she was pretty and smart and funny... how was it possible that she actually liked Giles?-Buffy couldn't understand it, but one thing was for sure-she wanted them both happy and her spidey sense told her make each other happy.
It was only Wednesday and she didn't know how she'd wait till Friday or Saturday to see her friends. To make things worse, nobody would answer her calls. They must have all been at work... She tried to call Faith too, not knowing that she also found a job, as a tae kwon do teacher for kids, and was very disappointed when she got no answer from her either.
Unable to stand still, because she knew if she thought too much, her thoughts would wander back to Spike, Buffy went back to the kitchen to talk to Jenny.
"Have you talked to your friends?"-Jenny asked while serving tortillas. Buffy's mouth watered. Not to feel completely useless, Buffy hastily went to take glasses and poured them drinks.
"No, I haven't, nobody's answering their phones. They'll call me back... I wish I could cook like you, I'm happy if I don't burn BOILED eggs!"
"I can teach you. I'm sure you're exaggerating a little. Enjoy!"
"MhmmumAm."-Buffy mumbled what was supposed to mean: 'Mmmm, oh I am...'
Jenny smiled, Buffy looked really cute eating like she had never eaten before.
Buffy's phone rang and her heart skipped a beat when she saw Faith's name. She swallowed her bite and answered, feeling like her heart was stuck in her throat:
"Hi, Faith..."
"Hey B. See you called. What's up?"-Faith tried to sound cool, like she wasn't missing her so bad it hurt...
"I talked to Tara earlier and thought maybe you guys could visit me this weekend. Jenny said you could stay here! And, you have to make sure Giles comes too, feeling some sparkage is gonna happen! Jenny is a babe!"-Buffy said and winked to Jenny, who blushed a little. She wasn't used to being called a 'babe', especially not from a younger woman.
Faith didn't like the fact that Buffy called her a babe, but she figured she meant Jenny was like a babe for Giles, not for Buffy, so it was cool.
"Well, I just got home and Tara and Will should be here soon, I can't wait to talk to them. And, don't call other women 'babes', even if you think about pairing them up with somoene else..."-Faith said, trying to sound bossy, but Buffy thought she sounded like she was joking and she actually thought it was cute.
"Aww, you jealous?"-Buffy asked and glanced at Jenny, trying to keep a straight face.
"No! I'm just saying... Cause when I get there, I don't care about anything or anyone else, I'll just pin you against the wall and have my wicked way with you..."-Faith's voice got really husky as she teased, she wished she could do it right then and there.
"Right, right... Have you talked to Angel?"-Buffy asked, trying to ignore the butterflies that were caused by Faith's voice and words.
"Geez, B, you know how to ruin the mood! Haven't seen him today. What do you want from me, to write him a letter about how sorry I am we got into a fight over you, before you let me in your pants again? You are one evil, evil, woman, B!"
"Faith, I left to make sure you two would sort things out... I can't be with you until you do it, you know that..."-Buffy walked away from the table, she wasn't quite comfortable to talk about such things in front of Jenny yet.
"We're fine! We're not best buddies, but then again, we've never been buddies in the first place. We had been fighting even before you! He's bossy and annoying and always tells me what to do like he's some kind of a saint. I've always been wild a little, and you somehow managed to change it so fast, and got me to want you, and only you, which is like, a miracle! If you don't want me to come just say so, don't fuckin' tell me how to work things out with my brother!"
Buffy was a bit surprised, and hurt, when she heard anger in Faith's voice. That sexy tone that made her shiver was all gone, and replaced by this angry tone, which also made her shiver, but for a different reason.
"Fine. Whatever."-Buffy said, not knowing what to say. She really didn't wanna pick up a fight.
"Buffy, seriously, do you want me to come or not?"-Faith felt so exasperated, she needed to light a cigarette.
"Of course I do! I want it more than anything!"
"Well then stop being stupid and just shut up or I'll spank you when I get there. And it won't be all gentle..."-Faith said, letting that husky, teasing voice out again.
"Oh, shut up, you're a nightmare!"
"I'm a nightmare!? I've been horny off of my mind because of you!"
"I haven't done anything!"-Buffy defended herself and Faith almost dropped her cigarette.
"What... did... you... just... say? You let me have a piece of you, to make me want you more, and then you fucking ran away from me! Oh, not to mention I made an utter and complete fool out of myself when I sang that song!"
"You didn't make a fool out of yourself, it was adorable... It was so hard for me, Faith, but I had to do it. I couldn't continue to work with Angel and see you both everyday... I'm sorry, ok, I wish I had handled things differently from the very start, but it is what it is... I never cried that hard like when you jumped into a cab and left. I was a complete mess when I first arrived here. I've managed to pull myself together a little, to be able to work without constantly thinking about you and how much it freakin' hurt, and then Spike appeared! I've seen him today and he upset me so much I would have exploded if I hadn't talked to Tara!"
"What? You've seen Spike?! I hope to god that son of a bitch didn't touch you!"-Faith totally freaked and suddenly she wanted to teleport herself to Cleveland to kick his ass.
"Faith, calm down... He didn't. He was behind the bars, and I was sent to guard him for a while. He just... the things he said..."-Buffy swallowed hard and, after trying so hard not to think about him and cry, she got upset again and a tear ran down her face.
Faith heard Buffy sob quietly and she just wanted to hold her and protect her from the whole world, especially the male population of it.
"Hey, don't cry... You're breaking my heart here and I can't hold you. Look, I'm an ass sometimes, sometimes I over react, sometimes I'm jealous and annoying and my temper is not all that stellar, but I do care about you a lot, Buffy. I would make that guy swallow all of his teeth if he just looked at you the wrong way. Hey, I think Red and T. are back..."
Buffy wiped the tear away, feeling silly for letting it get to her again... Faith was so sweet, her kind words really helped her. She was sure Faith would totally make Spike swallow all of his teeth, and it was kind of cute...
"Thanks, Faith... Why don't you go talk to them and let me know when you sort everything out? I can't wait to see you... What you've just said earned you a big kiss..."
"Just a kiss? Awww, damn..."-Faith smiled a little and added: "Just kidding, B. Talk to you later... Kiss..."
"Say hi to everyone. Kiss back..."-Buffy said and hanged up the phone.
Buffy didn't realized her voice had gotten louder while talking to Faith, especially when she got to a part about Spike, and she didn't see Jenny watching her with a worried expression on her face, so she jumped a little when she heard Jenny say her name.
"Sorry, didn't mean to scare you. You haven't finished your lunch... Are you ok? You sounded upset..."-Jenny asked and came closer to Buffy, who somehow forced herself to remain calm while thinking about Spike. She didn't know if she'd ever stop feeling sick of him and herself.
"I'm ok, don't worry... Must be PMS or something, I'm too sensitive lately."-Buffy didn't really wanna talk about it any more. Luckily, Jenny could sense it and she didn't push it. She figured Buffy would come to her and talk if she felt like it.
"OK... Well, I'm going to grade some papers, you just knock if you wanna talk... I'd be thankful if you'd wash the dishes, though..."
"Sure, no problem!"-Buffy said, happy she had something to do, she wanted to help Jenny any way she could.
"Thanks!"-Jenny said and walked to her working room as she liked to call it. She always thought 'office' was a too formal word and she didn't like it.
Buffy finished her lunch slowly and started humming a melody while washing up. Soon she really got into a song in her head and sang out loud, she almost didn't hear her phone ring.
She looked at the called ID, didn't recognize the number, but she answered anyway.
The next moment she dropped the cell phone and stared at it in shock, feeling like she was about to get a heart attack...
