Next one is the last chapter, promise.

I OWN NOTHING.

He did, for the most part. He quit the Team you had been members of. He took off the cowl he had worn while he fought at your side, vowing to never put it back on. He took out every picture of the once-happy couple he could find, leaving empty picture frames throughout his aunt and uncle's house. He printed all of the texts sent back and forth before erasing them from his phone, and he put everything into a wooden chest he found in the attic.

Every memory was stored away. He even moved out, just to get away from the couch you sat on to watch movies, the table where you'd share a dozen pizzas, the bed you once would share, just for the night. He bought a new wardrobe, because your scent was coating most of his clothes.

He started to hate himself. He'd look in the mirror and the messy red hair you'd run your hands through, the green eyes you'd stare into, the freckles you'd count. The hands that fit so well into yours, the ears that heard your 'I love you's, the lips you'd kiss to prove it's true.

He was giving up. He was about to hit rock bottom. He stayed inside, only leaving to go to school and work. He avoided talking to his friends, because they had been your friends too. The only thing he let remind him of you was visiting the graves on the anniversary.

But he hadn't been expecting you to be back this year.
