Hey! Its back again! The ending is getting closer. I know its been a long time since I posted the last chapter but I have been busy with stuff. I am also working now so that adds to it. I do want to know if you guys just want to post the rest all in one day or keep up the suspense.
Chapter 26
It had been two years since they had started their training. Megan was brutal to fight against. Her experience and her strength were definitely shown. Ruby gained her sight back after a month had gone by since what happened with Taiyang. All of them were strong and powerful.
Weiss had found out that she had a red tattoo on her right shoulder. She could transform her arm into a Grimm's arm, her aura had also increased. Yang had the red tattoo over her right eye. She could use overwhelming strength to fight and even see how a Grimm can see. Cinder had the red tattoo on her back. She could use strength and speed. Nora had a red tattoo on her right hand. She could use overwhelming strength, even though that wouldn't be as much of a difference, but she could conduct electricity easily with it.
Blake had a red tattoo on her neck. She was faster than before. Roman had a red tattoo on his chest. He had very tough skin to cut through. Pyrrha had a red tattoo on her right leg. She had overwhelming strength. Jaune had a red tattoo on his left forearm. He had strength, speed, and could transform his arm into a Grimm's arm.
Ruby's hair had grown and looked like Summer's hair style now. She was also almost as tall as Yang.
Ruby was sitting on a rock, she was looking up to the dark night sky watching the stars. We have come a long way… It might be time to finish the weapon upgrades… I wonder where Summer is... Right… she went to get us a bullhead… Ruby thought. She sighed and got off the rock. She put her helmet back on and walked towards the others. Everyone was asleep.
Ruby had to stay awake since she was keeping the Grimm from trying to harm them. Megan had left as well to talk to the cursed and the Knights of the Reaper. Ruby had gotten more powerful than before. Ruby rested her eyes and fell asleep. She sent a signal to the Grimm to make sure not to harm them and keep other people from getting close to them.
Ruby woke up and saw that everyone was getting ready to leave. Ruby stood up and stretched. The bullhead landed. Summer was standing on it.
"Alright… Cinder and her band of people… we'll drop you off anywhere in Vale… Remember… prepare for the war that is coming… not the one you will bring… the rest of you, we're heading back to Beacon… We are stronger than before… we need to pretend like nothing is going to happen… understood?" they all nodded and boarded the bullhead. Ruby was in deep thought the whole way there. They dropped off Cinder and her pals and went off back to Beacon. Ruby walked off still deep in thought. The others were confused. Ruby suddenly stopped.
Ruby had a vision type thing. She didn't know what to call it. She could see them at least staying alive. Carnage wasn't there though. He might be able to help. Ruby walked to their dorm room. Summer went to Ozpin's office.
"Ozpin…" Summer crossed her arms.
"Summer…" Ozpin leaned forward in his dick chair.
"You still have the fucking chair…" Summer glared at him.
"And I still don't care about what you think." He smiled at her.
"That's what I thought…" Summer sighed.
"How did the training go? All of you were gone for two years." Ozpin stated.
"Yeah… it went as well as you would expect… but I think they need a break… a big one… they went through a lot… especially Ruby…" Summer said.
"What happened?" Ozpin asked.
"Taiyang came back… he hurt her badly… I think she'll be okay though… Megan saved her thankfully…" Summer explained briefly.
"Why didn't you?" Ozpin asked.
"I wasn't fast enough… It doesn't matter…" Summer looked down.
"Don't feel responsible for it Summer… She's strong… I'm sure she'll be alright…" Ozpin smiled softly at her.
"Yeah… I hope so… All that's left is Carnage's release… I'm sure that will happen soon…" Summer looked at Ozpin.
"Do you think Taiyang will continue to go after her?" Ozpin asked her.
"I don't know… I doubt even the Knights of the Reaper will survive the attack from what we know… they don't know how to fight other huntsmen and huntresses… they might die at the start…" Summer sat down and sighed.
"The question is… how will we know when it starts?" Ozpin asked. He wanted to prepare. He had already set up an evacuation system since they were last here.
"The night of the blood moon… that's the only possibility…" Summer said, looking Ozpin in the eye.
"Are you sure?" Ozpin asked, he didn't want something like that happening anytime soon before the preparation was complete.
"Positive… it's happening next year… this is their final year at Beacon… they are very well trained… you might need to start the evacuation soon… no new students… Ruby is planning the attack right now… Same goes for the enemy… and our common enemy… if this works…" Summer sighed and leaned against Ozpin's desk. "I don't know anymore… we even need to find Raven… Taiyang is out of commission… Qrow will definitely come… we need to be ready and I'm not sure we are…" Summer looked outside.
"Don't worry… right now, focus on what we are going to do… Locate Raven and get Qrow to come here… we need their help as well… you are their team leader… Not sure how Yang will react seeing Raven though…" Ozpin stated. Summer nodded.
"I know… I'll be gone until I get them here… make sure you start the evacuation… No civilian casualties… I'm also guessing he is watching us… be careful…" Summer disappeared in a flurry of white rose petals.
Ruby in the team dorm
Ruby had finished briefing the teams of the plan. Once Team JNPR, CRDL, and CFVY left, Ruby sighed and got into her bed.
"You okay Rubes?" Yang asked Ruby.
"I don't know…" Ruby said.
"Something you want to talk about?" Yang asked.
"That's just it though… I don't know what's wrong… It's almost the end of our fourth year at Beacon… Summer helped us know everything… I just… I don't know what to do…" Ruby looked at the ceiling.
"Ruby… you'll know what do to… I'm sure of it… we'll get through this… together…" Yang said with a smile on her face.
"Yeah… I hope your right…" Ruby smiled. She looked out the window and saw an Altesian airship heading for Beacon.
"An Atlas flag ship? What's going on?" Ruby tilted her head and looked at it in confusion.
"I don't know… Wait… you see something? On top of the ship…" Ruby looked. She closed her left eye and used her right to zoom in on what Yang was talking about.
"No way…" Ruby was shocked at what she saw.
"What? Who is up there?" Yang was very concerned.
"Fuck…" Ruby paled and she opened her eye in shock. "Conquer… He's here…"
"What?! That's not possible! And what is he doing with an Altesian flagship?!" Ruby and Yang ran out. Students and teachers joined them and looked up at the sky. Conquer stood on the ship, he was wearing the heavy armour and the cape that Ruby had seen in her visions.
"I'M SO GLAD TO HAVE SUCH A LARGE AUDIENCE! TO THINK MY ARRIVAL WOULD SPARK SO MUCH ATTENTION! I'M GLAD I'M STILL REMEMBERED!" Ozpin ran out and glared at Conquer.
"Damn… Summer was wrong… and now we have more to worry about…" a small spic flew towards them from the ship and crashed at Ruby's feet. It was Penny. Ruby helped the android get back on her feet.
"YOU SCUM! HOW DARE YOU SHOW YOU'RE FACE HERE AFTER WHAT YOU HAD DONE! YOU SHOULD HAVE STAYED IN THAT DARK DIMENSION FOR ALL ETERNITY!" Ozpin yelled up to Conquer.
"GLAD TO SEE YOUR STILL ALIVE OZPIN! I'M AFRAID YOU'RE AT A HIGH DISADVANTAGE THOUGH! BUT, I'LL GIVE YOU THE DETAILS LATER! FOR NOW, MY FRIENDS ARE JUST ANXIOUS TO FIGHT THE SO CALLED STUDENTS OF BEACON! I'LL RETURN WITHIN A YEAR, NO DOUBT ABOUT THAT! I JUST GREW TOO IMPATIENT ABOUT WAITING! I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR TOO DAMN LONG OZPIN! I'LL SEE YOU BURN!" the flag ship released a bullhead and started to fly away. When the bullhead landed, its doors opened. Five people got off and walked towards them.
"Well, Kitten, it seems that there are a lot of people here!" a large man with a sniper rifle said with a smug grin on his face.
"Garrus… stay focused…" Kitten snapped at him.
"Your always such a buzz kill, you know that?" a large burly man said. He was wielding a large axe in one hand and a hammer in the other.
"Boris, you are lazy… you shouldn't be talking…" a women with twin swords snapped at him a bit.
"Shaundai! Don't be like that!" a man with a single sword stated. He had a large grin on his face.
"Daemon, you need to learn respect…" Kitten snapped at him a bit.
"Whatever you say Kitten! Let's get this done!" Ozpin ordered all the third, second, and first year students to retreat back inside. Glynda instructed the fourth years to remain on their guard and prevent the five from trying to enter the school. Teams CRDL, JNPR, CFVY, and RWBY stood their ground.
"Looks like the one in red and her friends are the only ones that are going to stay and fight…" Kitten pointed out. Ruby held Crescent Rose tightly.
"Glynda, the process is almost done… stay here… I need to go…" Ozpin said to Glynda as the last few groups of students boarded a ship.
"What?! Ozpin, you can't! You need to stay here… we can't do anything without you!" Glynda yelled at him.
"I'm sorry… but it's the only way… I'm getting them out of here… please… protect the rest… I'm taking the other fourth years as well… Goodbye…" Ozpin disappeared along with the rest of the students.
"And what of it? Am I not allowed to fight back?" Ruby challenged the five in front of them.
"You can if you want… it's up to you if you want to have a deep grave under the rubble of Beacon…" Boris snapped at Ruby. Ruby charged at them along with Yang, Jaune, Cardin, Dove, Fox, Yatsuhashi and Nora. Weiss, Pyrrha, Blake, Sky, Russel, Ren, Coco, and Velvet stayed behind and fought at a distance.
Kitten shot a single arrow into the sky. The arrow split and rained down upon them. They were all hit and pinned to the ground. Ruby was hit in her legs and fell to the ground. She crawled on the ground still trying to fight. Garrus kicked her head and shattered her helmet. Her right robotic eye was nearly damaged from the impact.
Ruby struggled and trembled in pain. She saw Shaundai throw Yang, Blake, and Coco into the building. Boris grabbed Nora, Pyrrha, and Weiss and dragged them inside. Garrus had taken Fox, Yatsuhashi, and Cardin. Daemon disappeared with Jaune, Velvet, and Ren. Kitten shot Russel, Sky, and Dove in the head, killing them. Ruby struggled to get up. More arrows pierced into her back and she nearly cried out in pain. Kitten walked up to her and smiled.
"You have so many arrows sticking out of your body! I still don't understand why Master Conquer would want you, I for one, think you're a nuisance…" Kitten growled at her. Ruby smiled weakly.
"I get that a lot, people just want a cursed as their pet, want them dead, you name it, I've seen and heard it! And do you really think I'm that weak?" Ruby closed her eyes and slowed staggered to her feet, wincing in pain. When she opened her eyes, she saw Yang standing there.
"Yang? What happened to Kitten?" Ruby was confused. She felt off about the situation now.
"She ran away… come on… we need to go…" Ruby slowly walked towards Yang. Once she was a foot away from her, Yang gave her a demonic smile and stabbed Ruby in the chest. Yang soon turned into Kitten and laughed.
"What… the… fuck…" Ruby slowly raised her hand to the dagger that was now in her chest.
"Oh, I'm sorry! My semblance allows me to change my appearance into anyone I want! Mimicking their voices perfectly! Sorry but, you're going to have to die! It seems that your friends are gone as well!" Kitten got on the bullhead. Jaune, Pyrrha, Nora, Weiss, Velvet, Coco, Ren, and Cardin were blasted through the walls. Cardin was impaled the moment he hit the ground, he and his team were now dead. Beacon crumbled to pieces. Weiss was bleeding heavily. The rest were unconscious. Fire ignited behind Ruby. Boris, Shaundai, Garrus, and Daemon got onto the bullhead and it flew off. Penny appeared and had her arm and eye missing.
"R-R-Ruby… are y-y-y-y-you okay?" Penny had more of a robotic voice now. Ruby began shedding tears.
"No… everything we had planned for… everything we had worked on… it was all for nothing… everything has gone to shit… fucking hell… why?! Why did this happen?! How could we have predicted this?!" Ruby yelled out. She slammed her fist into the ground and tried to get up.
"R-R-R-R-Ruby… I'm s-s-s-s-s-sure everything will b-b-b-b-b-be okay… like you a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-always said… everything must at least have a positive outlook…" Penny smiled at Ruby. As Ruby thought about what Penny had just said, she realised what she had to do. Ruby smiled and stood up. She removed the arrows in her and let her blood run down her body and stain her clothes.
"Yeah… you're right… I forgot… thank you…" Ruby looked out over the city of Vale. It was destroyed. In complete ruins. "Fuck… Penny… Send out a red flare… we need to alert Cinder and her team… and anyone else still alive…" Ruby ordered her to do.
"V-V-V-V-Very well…" Penny lifted up a flare and fired. Glynda walked up to Ruby.
"Are you alright?" Glynda asked her, seeing all the blood pouring out of her.
"Yeah… Coco… Velvet… you two okay?" Ruby turned her head to the two on the ground. The two groaned and sat up.
"Yeah…" Velvet replied softly.
"We had our asses handed to us… Fuck… we were at least able to live…" Coco said before standing up.
"Yeah… Glynda… where is Ozpin? We need him here…" Ruby asked Glynda. The professor looked down, crestfallen.
"I… don't know… he left with the other students… I don't know where he is taking them…" Qrow appeared along with a lot of White Fang, Cinder, Roman, Adam, Emerald, Mercury, and Neo.
"Are you guys alright?" Cinder asked first.
"Yeah… well… some are… Velvet… look at anyone still breathing… keep them alive… Coco… try to bury our dead… we should at least give them a proper burial…" Ruby ordered them. Coco nodded and got to it. Velvet checked on Weiss.
"Ruby… what the hell happened?" Neo looked at Ruby with a lot of concern.
"Conquer… he came here… he sent his team and another two to kill us… I'm not sure what else to tell you… you can see that our numbers are very hurt from what happened…" Ruby explained. Sun and his team along with Team BRNZ, the two other members of Team FNKI, and ABRN appeared.
"Ruby… what are we going to do?" Emerald asked her.
"Well… we are going to go create a base in the ruins of the town… We need a place to relax and rest up… there is no telling what will happen if we stay here…" they gathered what supplies they could and walked to town. Ruby created a small entrance and let them all inside. She carved out the rubble to set up a dome for them to at least have a roof over their heads and even protection against heavy rain fall and other elements. She had even gotten hospital equipment for the seriously wounded.
"Ruby… you need to sit down…" Velvet grabbed Ruby's shoulder and gave her a worried look. Ruby shrugged Velvet's hand away and limped inside the dome.
"I'm fine…" Ruby stated firmly.
"You have puncture wounds all over your body!" Velvet yelled at her.
"I said I'm fine…" Ruby snapped out a bit. Emerald noticed the blood Ruby was trailing and was worried.
"Ruby…" Emerald hugged Ruby. "Let them make sure you're okay…" Ruby sighed and sat down. She removed her cloak and set it aside. Ruby knew she wouldn't be able to argue with them for long.
"Alright… Do your check-up thing…" Velvet look over Ruby and wrapped her in bandages.
"There! Now don't move too much… the wound on your chest will open up again…" Velvet warned her.
"Fine…" Ruby sighed, she honestly didn't want to sit still.
"Ruby… You're very stubborn…" Ruby smiled and winked at Velvet, causing the rabbit Faunus to blush.
"It's part of my charm!" Emerald glared at Ruby, who rose her hands in defence. "Hey! I was playing!" Ruby said with a large grin on her face.
"Better have been…" Emerald didn't stop her glare as she said that. Velvet giggled.
"You two act like a couple!" Ruby and Emerald blushed.
"So, what do we do?" Coco asked. Before Ruby could reply, Sun ran in, in a panic.
"Guys! Ironwood is here!" Sun ran back outside. Ruby slowly got up, put her hood on, and slowly walked out. She had a hand on her chest from where she got stabbed. Penny slowly followed. Ironwood stood in the middle of the ruins of the city with Winter at his side.
"Are you alright?" Winter asked in worry.
"Hey… Winter… I'm alright… just recovering from the attack on Beacon…" Ruby said.
"Is Weiss alright?" Winter asked, her worry was more evident now.
"No… she is in critical…" Ruby replied.
"Well… It seems this is a very serious situation…" James stated.
"Yeah… We could use your help…" Ruby asked him. James shook his head.
"Sorry… but I already chosen my side…" he replied with a slight smile.
"General? What do you mean? Are we not going to help them?!" Winter yelled at him slightly. Qrow and Adam walked out along with Roman.
"Winter… get away from Ironwood… I think he is pretty clear about whose side he's on…" Qrow held the handle of his sword tightly.
"Qrow… General! How dare you choose a decision that would put a kingdom in danger!?" Winter ran towards Qrow. Ironwood took out a revolver and shot her in the back.
"Winter! Damn you bastard!" Qrow charged at Ironwood along with Adam. Roman stayed behind to keep support at a distance. Ironwood had an army of robots appear from under the rubble and starts firing at them. Qrow and Adam dealt with them, but Ironwood shot them in the back before running away.
"Qrow! Adam! Get them inside! Roman?" Ruby yelled to them before turning to Roman. Roman shot at more robots that seemed to be crawling out of the rubble.
"I'm providing cover! Hurry up and get them inside!" Velvet, Cinder, Glynda, and Coco helped carry the two inside. The robots soon retreated once Qrow and Adam safely made it inside. Roman and Ruby walked in. Penny was with Winter next to Weiss.
"How is Winter?" Ruby asked.
"She'll be up soon… Adam and Qrow have it much worse…" Velvet stated.
"Hey… We aren't dead…" Qrow sat up and winced a bit. Adam sat up as well.
"Well… At least you weren't shot in the gut…" Adam complained.
"Hey… you used your aura to take most of the damage… quit your bitching…" Qrow smirked at him. Adam glared at him.
"Enough…" Ruby stood up straight. "I'll give you two something else to complain about it instead…" Ruby growled.
"Jeez… you never go all animal on us… you have changed…" Qrow pointed out.
"Yeah… Qrow, where is Sapphire?" Ruby asked him.
"I don't know… Raven came and asked to bring her along on a trip… I haven't seen her since…" Qrow replied, leaning against the head bored.
"Summer also suddenly disappeared as well… I haven't seen her since she went to what was Ozpin's office… Ozpin is even missing…" Glynda stated.
"Damn… Of all the times to disappear… he sure as hell picked the worse time in all of them…" Qrow stated.
"Fox and Yatsuhashi are missing as well…" Velvet stated. She sounded depressed.
"Yang and Blake aren't here either…" Coco said.
"Hmm…" Ruby looked down in thought.
"What do we do?! Ruby! There has to be something!" Jaune yelled in a panic. The situation was getting to him, it was showing.
"Tell us what to do!" everyone was arguing. They were frightened and scared. The enemy seemed impossible to defeat. They kept yelling at Ruby, asking for what to do.
"Enough!" Ruby snapped at them. The room was silent. "Finally… Now… Sun… I need you to take some of the members of the White Fang and the teams that aren't from Vale to a different location… This place will be the brunt of their attack… Penny and Winter will remain here… Neo, Emerald, Mercury, and I will go and scout for anyone we can and bring them here… Adam… you don't mind parting with them, do you?"
"No… this is a war that shouldn't have happened… the White Fang will help… but I can't be sure they will be happy about it…" Adam grunted a bit as he sat up.
"Don't worry… Sun will lead them… He is a Faunus so it shouldn't be too much of a problem…" Ruby explained.
"Alright… I'll let them know…" Adam nodded and informed the White Fang in the other room in the dome about the situation, much to Velvet's objections since she was still trying to patch him up.
"We'll head out as soon as we're ready… Be careful… little red…" Sun said with a frown. He didn't like the idea of splitting up, but he saw no room to complain about it.
"You too… golden monkey…" Sun nodded and smiled. He gathered the other teams and his own. Sun left along with some of the White Fang members. Ruby stood in front of Penny and sighed.
"Your going to need repairs…" Ruby stated. Penny smiled.
"Y-Y-Y-Yes… my s-s-s-s-speech unit is malfunctioning a b-b-b-b-bit…" Penny tried to reply.
"I noticed. I'll make you a new arm, speech unit, and an eye. Don't worry." Ruby gave her a comforting smile.
"All r-r-r-r-r-right. Good luck!" Ruby moved more rubble, clearing and making more room for them in the space they had. She made a sturdy desk and even something to sit on. Ruby began working right away on Penny's new parts. Emerald smiled softly.
"You always had a certain spark when you were working on machines!" Emerald stated.
"Yeah, but this is an Android I'm going to work on! No need to worry!" Ruby smiled at her.
"I never do!" It didn't take long for Ruby to finish the parts. She attached the arm and the eye. After replacing Penny's speech unit, she smiled.
"Thank you Friend Ruby!" Penny smiled at Ruby.
"Penny, I told you, it's just 'Ruby', you don't need to add the 'friend' part!" Ruby giggled a bit.
"I know! I'm just very grateful!" Penny said. She got up and began helping around the base of theirs.
"I'm glad!" Ruby said. She sighed and sat down. This was going to be a long fought out war… Ruby thought.
