"Cassie!" she heard Daniel's cry as she made her way down the hallway.
Cassie managed to find a smile for him as she embraced him in a hug.
"Hey Danny boy" she teased him as they pulled back. "What's up?"
"Doing research on different covens," Daniel replied as he headed towards the room he was in.
Cassie followed Daniel in "covens?" she asked, "do we not have enough cataloged?"
"Well Marcel contacted us saying how the New Orleans witches were sacrificing kids and how he put a stop to it. Needless to say that the head honchos weren't impressed and now I have to do research over all of the covens and make sure none of the other ones are sacrifices kids." Daniel said as he motioned to the desk to the stacks of old books and texts.
"Well I don't know about sacrifices kids," Cassie said as she plopped into on of his beanbags "but the Gemini coven does twin merges"
"Merges?" Daniel asked as he looked at her.
Cassie nodded "its in the east coast" she offered "they've been around for a while"
"I'm so glad you're here" Daniel exclaimed as he picked up a notebook "you can help"
The next two hours was spent with the two of them going back and forth with the different covens, until there was only one left.
"Why does this one sound familiar?" Daniel asked
"Travelers?" Cassie replied "well if we want to get technical then they aren't witches, they throw a temper tantrum when you do."
"Well then what would you call them?" Daniel asked.
"The closest thing I would equate it to would be a gypsy" Cassie replied.
"How the hell would you know this?"
"Because its what Katherine is, or at least her family"
"Are you?"
Cassie paused, "huh, I never thought about it" she finally answered
Daniel spun his chair around to fully face Cassie "do you wanna try?"
" Hell no!" Cassie exclaimed
"Oh come on!" Daniel whined, "You never do anything fun"
"I'm a former hunter and a doppelganger with magical blood. I don't need anymore excitement" Cassie said
"Fine" Daniel huffed "be that way"
"Be what way?" Mason asked as he walked into the room
"He's pouting because I wont add traveler to my list of special skills" Cassie said as she stood up and gave him a hug
"Slacker" Mason teased, as they broke apart.
"Why are you here?" Daniel asked
"Because the newbies are here and I need my partner in crime to help scare them." Mason retorted.
"Newbies!" Daniel said "fun"
Cassie and Mason let out a laugh at his excitement.
"Hey Danny call marcel and tell him that if he needs help to call and that ill talk to him later tonight when we're done" Cassie said as she headed out of the room.
"Yes mam" Daniel saluted
Cassie rolled her eyes and left him to his research.
The two of them walked into the auditorium where they new recruit were sitting.
"Alright listen up" Mason said as they group quieted down. "These next few weeks are going to be hard, and honestly only a few will make it."
"We are here to train you to keep you safe and keep you alive" Cassie picked up "not here to hold your hand, and if that makes me a bitch, well I'm going to be the bitch that saves your ass"
As much as Cassie hated to admit it, the trainees were good. It made her job easy but it meant she had to deal with egos and she hated that.
A knock on the frame of her door distracted her.
"Sir?" she asked seeing her commanding officer standing there,
"change of plans Gilbert, we need you in New Orleans" he said.
"but I'm" she began
"only training so you can get out, I know, but there are kids getting hurt and Marcel asked for you." he replied, "the bargin still stands, fix this problem and your out."
Cassie nodded, "I'll leave tomorrow" she promised.
