Chapter 26
"Hey, Kagome?" The deep voice of her brother brought her out of her train of thoughts. It had been a whole week now since she joined the guild and she loved every moment spent with the rambunctious group. They were the most eclectic group of people she had ever had the privilege of knowing. Her dragon senses had calmed down around the fourth day and that was all thanks to Natsu. He hadn't really left her side since she arrived and the other dragon slayers seemed to crowd around the two of them.
It was just how she imagined a dignity of dragons to be.
"Yeah, Gray?" She spun away from the request board, her desired quest in hand, to face him. What she saw made her bite her cheek to keep from laughing out loud. His blue eyes, nearly the same as her's, were wide with curiosity as he stared at her cat partner. His smile grew hesitant as if he didn't know what to make of the feline. It was hilarious to her.
"If Kirara is an exceed, how come she doesn't walk on her hind legs like the others?" Gray questioned and it took all of her not to laugh when said feline huffed indignantly.
Kirara was quick to prance over to Kagome's side, purring once she reached her dragon slayer. Kagome instantly picked up her partner, nuzzling the cat's head with her chin. "Kirara is special. In fact she has a lot in common with Lily." In answer to his name being mentioned, said black cat flew down from his perch on the iron dragon's shoulder to hover in front of the water dragon and her cat.
"Would you mind showing me?" The huskily soothing voice of the metamorphic cat questioned, his dark eyes focusing on the cat in her arms. The plea was polite but Kagome and no doubt her partner could hear the undertone of excitement. The female Fullbuster twin allowed her cat to decide.
"Of course."
