"Harumin, you're not opening your mouth wide enough!" Yuzu laughed.

"My mouth can't open any wider, and your aiming face is too funny!" Harumi cackled as she pushed the hood of her giraffe onesie away from her face.

Yuzu, clad in her bear onesie, was too busy laughing to properly aim her marshmallow shooter at Harumi's mouth. "Okay, Okay! Just- haha! Hold still for two seconds!"

Harumi complied, but when two seconds went by she held up her own marshmallow shooter and started shooting Yuzu indiscriminately. "Too slow!"

Yuzu squealed and returned fire, making a complete mess of Harumi's house, but having too much fun to care. They eventually ran out of ammo and declared their marshmallow war a draw, crashing onto a couch together in a heap of giggles.

"Oh god, you didn't tell me these things get so hot!" Harumi complained, pulling down the zipper of her onesie all the way to her navel to let her girls breath a bit.

"I totally did when we were out shopping! You just didn't listen to me and bought it anyway!" Yuzu said breathlessly, also pulling down her own zipper. They were comfortable enough with each other that showing skin didn't bother them.

Harumi fanned at her chest, flushed from their spirited fight. "Yeah, well I wanted to match with you."

Yuzu picked up a few marshmallow casualties that surrounded her and started popping them into her mouth. "Thanks for inviting me over today, Harumin. This was the most fun I've had in a while."

Harumi reached over and helped herself to marshmallows in Yuzu's hand. "'Course! Your sulking was starting to get on my nerves," Harumi teased in good fun, making Yuzu sigh deeply.

"Yeah. I have been in a bit of a funk lately…"

"Completely funked up," Harumi corrected, tickling the inside of Yuzu's now empty palm. "Well, nothing a good shopping spree can't fix!"

Yuzu half grinned at that, staring down at their hands as their fingers played with each other. Then in a voice quiet enough that Harumi almost didn't catch it, she said, "Why couldn't I have fallen in love with you instead?"

Harumin froze for a second, looking at Yuzu in surprise before her expression softened. "Why would you say that?"

Yuzu blushed a little, as if she hadn't meant to say the thought out loud. "I don't know, its just… easy to be with you. We always have so much fun, and you make me happy."

Harumi chuckled humorlessly. "Well, there's your problem. You've never taken the easy path to anything."

Yuzu groaned, plopping her head to rest against Harumi's shoulder. "Maybe I should get a new map…"

Harumi blinked back any hope that Yuzu was being serious, opting to reach up and affectionately pet her blonde curls. "Hey, who said I'd date your dumb ass, hm?"

Yuzu growled playfully against Harumi's neck, knowing she was ticklish. "Ruff."

Harumi started cracking up, ruffling up Yuzu's hair. "You're such a puppy!"

Yuzu lifted her head, her head disheveled and a bright joyful grin on her face that made Harumi's heart stop for a moment. "I'm not a puppy!"

'God,' Harumi thought to herself dimly as she brushed some hair away from Yuzu's face, their gazes lingering on each other's faces. 'I want to kiss her so bad.' She wouldn't, of course. It wouldn't be right. Yuzu was in love with someone else, and Harumi was smarter than that-

But then Yuzu was leaning forward, eyes sliding shut and brushing her lips softly against hers, and what the holy shit cakes and fuck bacon was happening??

Before Harumi could process that she was actually being kissed, Yuzu was already rapidly pulling back, a furious blush on her face and obvious regret in her eyes. "I'm sorry! I don't know why I did that, it was just the moment and I'm weak and I don't know, I'm sorry!"

The rapid fire words snapped Harumi from her stupor and she raised her hands. "Hey, hey! It's fine! I'm not mad or anything!" she said quickly, heart beating a thousand miles a minute.

Yuzu had her hand over her mouth and she was looking down, hesitantly glancing at Harumi's face. "You're not mad?"

Harumi couldn't hold back a small disbelieving snort, absently licking her lips. Marshmallow flavored. "No, Yuzuchi, I don't mind. What's a kiss between friends, right?" she said, forcing a stiff laugh.

The laugh must not have convinced Yuzu, for she ruefully looked away, making Harumi's heart sink in a panic.

"I'm sorry, I've made today awkward. I can leave if you want-"

Harumi grasped Yuzu's chin, turning her head to face her. Yuzu's eyes widened when the brunette quickly swept in and pressed her lips fully onto hers. "MMM?!"

Harumi released her slowly, a smirk on her face and a teasing glint in her eye. "There, that was revenge. Now we're even!" She winked at Yuzu and patted her cheek reassuringly. "Don't be so serious; I'm not Mei, you know."

Yuzu was blushing cutely all the way to her ears, mouth gaping as she stared at Harumi like she's never seen her before. "N-no. No, you're not," she agreed in a low voice.

Harumi smiled, bunching up Yuzu's cheeks between her hands. "Sounds like my puppy needs a little loving, is all. I've got just the thing for that!" She quickly kicked off the couch, heading for the kitchen to retrieve some chocolate ice cream. She needed distance to get the throbbing in her chest under control.

Some minutes later, they were cuddled together on the couch, eating ice cream and watching a random movie. Yuzu leaned on Harumi gratefully, affection in her voice when she said, "Thank you for this. I love you, Harumin."

Harumi closed her eyes at those words and released a breath that she hoped didn't sound too pained. "I love you too, Yuzuchi."
