400th World Cup

He couldn't believe it.

There they all were, stood in the biggest quidditch stadium Sev had ever seen, and it was the best view ever!

They were almost at the very top, but the box they were in was sticking out into the pitch slightly, so they had a better view of what was going on above as well as below. It was beyond words.

The cheers from the stands was deafening, and the blues, whites and blacks of the flags created a strange patchwork image of an approaching storm. The match was just about to begin, but the opening had been amazing.

The Broadmoor brothers had arrived on their brooms, fully clothed in their old uniforms, and Lily had to cover her ears from the amount of noise everyone had made.

The twins had made a turn or two about the stadium before they took their final bows and left, only to reappear again in their box a few minutes later while the real players were warming up.

"You didn't think we'd miss out on all the action did you?" they had asked, "There was no way we wouldn't join you!"

Suddenly, a man's voice started to echo through the stadium.

"Welcome one and all!" it said, the crowd dying down slightly, "As minister for magic, I am happy to welcome each and every one of you to this very special match. It is not just a Quidditch World Cup," loud cheers erupted from the stands, "nor is it just an all English Quidditch World Cup," even more cheers, "This is the four hundredth Quidditch World Cup."

The crowd went absolutely berserk.

"And, without further ado, let the match begin!"

The Quaffle was thrown into the centre of the two opposing teams and the snitch was released.

The game had begun.

The match had lasted an hour and forty minutes. The Puddlemeres had a lead of ninety points to thirty, and the chasers were extremely agile, their tactics effective in almost any situation it was put up against.

One of the Falcons' chasers had been taken out by a bludger, but one of the beaters had ended up wounding the Puddlemere's seeker, though not badly enough to be taken out of the game.

Because of this, the game inevitably ended shortly after, Puddlemeres ninety, Falcons one hundred and eighty.

Needless to say James was ecstatic.

Everyone celebrated, even Sirius who was wearing his black and white Puddlemere scarf. Richard congratulated the Broadmoors for their team's success, Peter, James and Sirius were practically jumping off the walls, Sev was laughing and waving his flag, and Lily had screamed cheerfully and hugged the nearest person; Remus.

The pair looked extremely embarrassed when Richard said they had to get back to the tent, and everyone had laughed.

The descent down the stairs was slow and filled with talk of what was going to happen when they got back. Richard kept telling them that they were going to go straight to bed, but they all knew that was never going to happen. They were all far too excited to sleep.

The celebrations went on for hours. There were fireworks, there was music and dancing, and there was a lot of butter beer. Richard made sure that none of them had more than half a cup of the stuff, and then only allowed them to have pumpkin juice, so they didn't get as 'tipsy' as some of the others in the camp, though that didn't stop Sirius sneaking some from under his nose.

At some point, Sev, Lily and Remus had decided that it was time for them to go to bed, as they were unable to keep themselves from yawning, and so they all went to their room.

"I still can't believe it! We actually went to a Quidditch World Cup match!" Lily exclaimed from behind the curtain that had been pulled around her bed. "It was amazing! Did you see the way those Chasers went around the field? And the Falcon's Seeker! Wasn't he fast!"

Sev chuckled, "I think you've got a crush on him!"

"Have not!"

"And you don't even know his name!"

A pillow struck him square in the face.

"Shut up!" Lily shouted at him, a grin on her face as she pulled another pillow off of the empty bunk.

"No, Lily, don't-"

Suddenly, war had broken out, and the tree of them had ended up breaking several pillows, feathers flying everywhere. It was only when Richard came in that they stopped.

If the wizard hadn't known the spell to fix the broken pillows, it would probably have taken them the rest of the night to tidy the room up. As it was, they were all settled down in their beds not ten minutes later.

As Sev felt his eyes close, he thought to himself about how great life was with his friends.

The next day, by the time everyone was awake it was already midday, so they ended up skipping breakfast. Instead, they had everything that was left cooked and placed on the table.

Scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, steak and chips were all sat in bowls or on plates on the wooden surface, with salad and bread and butter. As hungry as everyone was, they couldn't finish it all, so the rest was packed away in boxes and bags.

"Alright now, everyone," Richard said once they'd finished, "as much as I'd love to stay here for the rest of the holidays, as I'm sure you would, there are some parents who would be expecting you home fairly soon…"

The Marauders groaned.

"…so I suggest you all go and pack your bags."

"But dad…!" James cried, but was stopped by his father, and they all went back to their beds.

"I can't believe we're going home already!" Lily said, stuffing her pyjamas into her bag, "It feels like we've only been here five minutes!"

"Yeah, I know," Remus said, "My parents always said that time feels fast when you're looking back on things."

Sev laughed, "I can see why!" Pulling the ties on his bag, he closed it and slung it over his shoulder, "Do you think we'll ever be able to do something like this again?"

Remus nodded, "There's no way James would let us escape now."

They all burst out laughing.

When they calmed down, Lily smiled at their taller friend, "Well, I suppose we won't see you till we get on the train in a few weeks."

"Yeah. But then we'll be second year students!" he replied, "We'll get to go in the carriages."

Sev grinned, "I've been told that they're pulled by invisible creatures."

"Really?" Lily asked, her eyes growing wide.

Before he had a chance to answer, Richard walked in, interrupting their conversation, "Are you kids ready to go?"

"Yes sir!" they replied, and followed him out to the main area.

It was time to go home.

AN - I know, I know, It's been forever since I updated, but I've had one of the biggest writers blocks in history when it came to this story. I'm not happy about the way this chapter turned out, but at least I posted one.

No, I haven't abandoned you guys, and I'm really sorry it took so long, but it couldn't have been helped. I do have another five stories on the go on top of this one you know! The mood just wasn't right, and still isn't if I'm perfectly honest, but I just felt that I owed it to you guys to give you another chapter.

No more votes now! The voting has been officially closed! I did give you four months after all. And I probably won't be asking for your help on anything for some time.

I know this is a slightly different style of writing than before, but as I said, it's been a while, and I'm not quite in the Harry Potter 'mood' at the moment.

Anyway, I hope you guys liked the chapter, no matter how small it was, and I hope the next one will be up sooner than this w=one was!
