On numerous occasions Hiko had managed to get his way. Today it was no different. One only needed to think the right way to do things and he had found the 'right' way with Tomoe.

"Yukishiro-sama," Hiko said respectfully and bowed his head to the man sitting on the other side of the low table, "It's a pleasure to meet you."

The old man, his gray hair thick and neck-long smiled softly. Pride and contentment radiated from him in waves, "The pleasure is mine," replied back the older man with a nod of his head, "You are a well-known mage in the city."

Hiko bowed his head meekly at the compliment, "Your daughter is very efficient. Half of our cases wouldn't be completed if not for her."

"Ah," the man exclaimed with a shy smile, "My Tomoe always excels in whatever she puts her mind to. She was a very intelligent child and was very good at controlling her magic, sadly, she never showed interest in it. Still, I have immense pride in her. She's my only daughter and my precious gem."

Hiko filed most of the information the man blurted out mindlessly for future reference. He was about to say something but the shoji door of the spacious room was opened. Hiko's dark eyes fell to the shoji and his heart jumped when he watched as Tomoe in her unique perfection pushed a tea tray inside the room then she closed the door gracefully. A moment later she stood and served the tea. However, she never made eye contact with him. He was sure she was furious at him, after all, coming uninvited was highly impolite.

"Thank you, Tomoe dear," Tomoe's father said kindly. Tomoe only nodded respectfully and shot her father a small smile. Calmly she stood and was about to leave when her father stopped her with a soft, "Please, stay." As the perfect daughter she was, she stayed.

After a small sip of the delicious green tea Hiko finally glanced at the older man, "Tomoe-san kindly offered some help in a small problem I have in one of our cases," he said smoothly and overall he was impressed at how schooled Tomoe's face remained when he was sure she was bristling with anger, "Have you heard of a magical being not human but not animal either, born but made?"

Yukishiro-sama remained quiet for a few moments until he finally sighed, "I only know rumors, from poet's books and stories."

Hiko took quick notice of the surprised glance Tomoe gave her father and he smiled, "It will serve me well I'm sure. After all…we are talking about…something that is not supposed to exist."

At this Yukishiro-sama's lips tilted upwards, "In magic, young mage, everything is possible."

AN: Thanks for the reviews :]

Sadly…I have troublesome news. This weekend I plan, probably will, go to my family's beach house. I'm not sure there's internet there…. That is from Saturday to Monday. After that, from Tuesday to Tuesday I will be working from 8:00 am to 1:40 pm and then from 4:30 pm to 10: 30 pm. Yeah… I'm sure that workload is going to kill my muse. So, updates will be erratic for this next week. Sorry…
