December 28th

Seeley Booth was worried. He didn't know what to do. Ever since the kidnapping, Megan hadn't spoken a word. If her silence wasn't scaring him enough, there was the problem of her not eating.

Well okay, she was eating, but not anything he made. At dinner, she wouldn't touch the food he prepared. He realized this on Christmas when she only ate what the squints had brought.

For the past couple of days, he let choose something that she would eat. But even then, she only ate a few bites at each meal. It was starting to take a physical toll on her and he knew if he didn't do something soon, she would wind up in the hospital.

So to get to the root of the problem, he did something he wouldn't normally do. He went to Sweets.

Taking Megan with him to work that morning, he left her with Aubrey, hoping that maybe Aubrey could get his daughter to eat something more substantial than just a few bites. While Megan was hanging out with his partner, Booth went to see the shrink.

"Agent Booth?" Lance wondered aloud as the FBI agent entered his office. "Let me guess? There's a case?"

"No Sweets. Not this time." Booth sighed. "Look I need your help."

"With something not work-related?" Lance Sweets couldn't believe his ears at first. He never thought he would see the day that Seeley Booth would ask him for help.

"Yeah. I need help with something personal."

"Of course." Recovering from the shock, Sweets offered Booth a seat. "What can I help you with?"

Booth refused to sit down though. Instead he paced the small office, clearly agitated. "Megan won't talk to me. She won't talk and she won't eat."

"She's not eating?"

"Well, she's eating a little. But not much. She won't eat anything I make and she hasn't spoken since the kidnapping."

"Agent Booth, the lack of speech may be due to the traumatic events she's dealt with recently."

"What about her not eating Sweets?"

"Let me talk to her."

With this statement, Booth left the office to retrieve his daughter. Going back to the conference room that he had left Aubrey and Megan in, he found the two just sitting there. Aubrey saw Seeley first and when Seeley motioned to the food containers Aubrey gave him a slight shake of the head. Seeley sighed at this. Megan still hadn't eaten.

Booth pointed to his daughter and Aubrey nodded. "Hey Megs, your dad is here." Turning her head, she saw her dad and stood up from her chair. Following him, she grew tense when she realized where her dad was taking her.

"Hey Sweets," Booth said as she entered the office with Megan.

"Agent Booth. I'll send you a text when we're done."

"Okay," Booth replied. "I'll be back soon Megs." He kissed his daughter's forehead and left.

Megan's POV

This was ridiculous. Dad brought me to a shrink! Just because I won't eat. I was eating…okay maybe not that much, but still! Yeah, okay so I wasn't talking either. It's not like I didn't want to. I…I just couldn't. Everything was going crazy since I opened my mouth and found myself in this mess in the first place. Between finding my dad and Ms. Birch and then Pellant…words just got me into trouble. I mean after Pellant, I was freaking out!

Now here I am in the shrink's office. Dad was right though. He does look like a kid. Almost younger than Zack. I guess Sweets just has one of those baby faces though. Great now he's talking to me.

Sweets POV

With what Megan had been through, I knew I would have to be direct and perhaps a little unconventional…

Megan's POV

Sweets motioned for me to sit on the couch. I didn't want to be here in the first place, but I knew I couldn't leave. That look the shrink had on his face told me he would stop me if I tried. This shrink was weird.

So I sat down and that's when the questions started. I thought they would be the how are you feeling? traditional crap. It seemed I was sadly mistaken.

"Why won't you talk to Agent Booth?" Sweets asks me as I sit there on his couch. Crap. He really jumped in. "Why won't you eat? Is he making something you are allergic too?" I refuse to look at him. The direct questions were making me twitchy. I pulled my hair loose from its scrunchie. He came over and touched my shoulder, trying to offer me some form of comfort I guess. I shrugged off the contact.

"That's good. You're reacting to something." He tries to touch my hair, moving the bangs away from my face, but I move away from him. I didn't like it in here. I needed to leave. Ever since the kidnapping I felt numb. Now I was starting to feel again and I was scared. Sweets continues moving near me and blocks me in no matter where I go in the room so I can't move away.

Tired of him near me I lash out, swinging my hand and clipping him on the shoulder. Actually making contact I freeze. My breath hitches and I start to panic, my body trembling.

He puts his hand on my shoulder again. I lash out at him a few more times, making contact, hitting his arms before the tears start falling, my emotions coming out full force. He pulls me against him into a hug as I cry. Moving us back to the couch and sitting down, I beat his chest with my fists weakened hits barely leaving a mark, as the tears fall. As I sob, he rocks me and mutters soothing sounds. My emotional breakdown, which I must admit makes me feel a bit better, leaves me worn out. Sweets stands up and moves me, laying me down on the couch and pulling a blanket over me. "You can rest here for a bit." My eyes are already closed and I'm halfway into slumber as he turns out the lights.

3rd person POV

Letting Megan get some much needed rest, Sweets leaves the office and texts Booth, who arrives not even a minute later. "How is she?"

"Breakthrough. She hasn't spoken yet, but she has released some emotion." Sweets tells him.

"Is she going to be okay?" Booth asks, worried for his daughter.

"In time Agent Booth. Just give her some time."

A/N: Okay so Megan has been through hell and back. But her road to recovery has begun. I'm thinking two more chapters and this story will be complete. So stay tuned!
