The Walking Dead
XXX
It's pitch black. All of a sudden a spotlight shines from high above to the floor below. A few seconds go by without a sound until footsteps are heard from within the darkness. The echoing footsteps grow increasingly louder to the point where the unknown figure steps out of the shadows and into the light. Travis Riley is the unknown figure in question and judging by the perplexed expression on his face he has no earthly idea where he is or how he even got there.
"Hello!?" he hollered out.
The former member of Team Chuck approaches the middle of the spotlighted area and slowly, as well as cautiously does a 360 degree spin in order to scan his surroundings. Unfortunately, it's so dark that its absolutely impossible to figure out where exactly he is at this particular juncture. While standing there, he can feel the stillness in the air making the atmosphere in the location he's currently in all that more disturbing.
He immediately calls out once again hoping to hear a response. Any response for that matter. "Hello! Is anybody here!?"
No answer. The deafening silence sends a considerable chill down his spine leading him to become very weary of what possibly could happen at any moment. Tobias Carter's former protégé instinctively reaches behind him to retrieve his weapon and as he does, a voice is heard from within the darkness.
"Travis."
Instantly, he brandishes his weapon sliding the handle inevitably loading a bullet in the chamber. Travis grips the handle of his gun tightly with both hands. His right index finger placed on the trigger ready to fire at whoever called out his name. The intensity of the situation causes him to become much more alert than he already is. Adrenaline pumping. Pulse racing. Eyebrows furrowed. Jaw clenched. Nostrils flaring.
This is probably how Chuck and Casey felt when me and Tobias were in the shadows. It's not an awesome feeling whatsoever when the shoe is on the other foot, so to speak he thinks to himself. Of course, it seemed like long ago before Team Check would eventually become a 4 person team. Plus, he would most definitely have to prove himself to be a trustworthy ally as well.
His thoughts concerning the matter are averted and focuses on the matter at hand. "Show yourself…" he demanded. "…now!" Travis screamed out.
Silence is the response given. Travis' breathing becomes more rapid as the severity of the situation grows rapidly intense by the second. After a few seconds, the same seemingly disembodied voice is heard once again, but this time from behind him.
"Why?"
The former member of the Zeitgeist military quickly spins around locking his sights in the area in front of him after hearing the hauntingly, creepy voice. True, he has no earthly idea who and in what direction the individual in question will emerge from so he remains steadily vigil for the possibility of anything to happen. As much as he wants to unload all the rounds in his clip into the darkness, he has to play it smart knowing full well he'll be absolutely defenseless.
In his mind, he has to let whoever is out there come to him instead of the other way around. It's something he was taught by his mentor and former commanding officer Tobias Carter. He must be able to think clearly despite not knowing the person or even persons hidden within the darkness. The risk he is taking with his own life by foolishly shooting into the dark abyss may very well lead to suffer a severe injury or cause his untimely death.
What the husband and father of 3 does next is to get whoever called out his name to talk. Granted, it may possibly take some urging on his part but with the reputation he has for being a persistent guy he thinks he'll get a response and/or a reaction at least he thinks to himself.
"Listen…" he stated. His steeled focus forward never wavering. "…you seem to know who I am friend. Who are you?" Travis inquired.
There is a momentary silence as he waits for an answer. Each second that goes by feels like an eternity. It seems like an eternity for him until the hauntingly, creepy voice answers.
"Why Travis?"
"Why what?" he wondered. "Dude, unless you're Gozer asking me if I'm a God I'm not going to say yes. However, If you're fully prepared to taste the full charge of my Ghost busting proton pack accelerator then feel free to come on out." warned the former military soldier. "Show yourself!"
"You're a traitor."
The somewhat amused response Travis previously gave suddenly turned serious. He now feels his body tightening up to where a bead of sweat drops down the front of his face sliding down the ridge of his nose. It inevitably slides down over and off his nose falling to the ground below without even making a sound. In that exact moment, he replies to the statement about him.
"There a lot of thing I may be…" answered Travis. "…a traitor isn't one of them. I'm loyal as they come. To my friends. To my family. If anyone says otherwise then they're wrong." he firmly reiterated.
"Liar."
Travis' anger builds upon hearing the seemingly angered ghostly retort. Afterwards, he suddenly begins to hear a mixture of what sounds like footsteps and something sliding/dragging on the floor. The sound itself is moving forward…towards him. It grows increasingly louder causing him to stand his ground with unwavering resolve with weapons raised and trained towards the intended target within the darkness whoever it is.
"I'll shoot!" he hollered out.
The combination of footsteps and something sliding/dragging on the floor is vastly approaching towards him. At this point, Travis is at all time high in heightened state of awareness so much so he flinches a bit upon hearing the voice again.
"You killed me."
Instantly, those three words lead Travis to scream back. "NO! I DIDN'T!
"You will pay."
Ultimately, the amount of restraint he has been able to gather up to his point has been phenomenal. Unfortunately, he isn't able to keep his composure any longer as he rings out a succession of shots. The combination of the echoing sounds of gunshots and the bullet casings hitting the floor in the ensuing chaos leads to him completely empty his clip evident by the click of his weapon. As the smoke looms from the barrel end of his gun, the echoing sounds of gunfire slowly dissipates.
It takes a few seconds for the situation to settle but once it does, Travis continues to hear the sound of footsteps and something sliding/dragging towards him. It's because of his anger that he wasted all his ammo and now he stands there still with his weapon raised waiting for the unknown figure to emerge from out of the dark abyss.
"You are responsible…" The unknown figure finally emerges from the darkness. A number of visible bullet wounds showing they hit the intended target. Blood dripping out. "…for my death." he angrily added.
A stunned expression is plastered on Travis face causing to slowly lower his weapon. While doing so, he softly says the figure who now revealed himself stepping into light. "Chuck!?"
XXX
A completely stunned and considerably shocked Travis stands there upon seeing what looks to be a zombie like Chuck stepping forward. The mere sight of him causes the tight grip on the gun to become so loose it drops to the ground totally unawares to Tobias Carter's go to guy back in the day. In any case, the seemingly undead CEO of Whiz Kid Systems, Inc. stops just a few feet away from his former teammate. A former teammate who has been momentarily rendered speechless by his appearance.
"You're responsible Trav." Chuck angrily stated pointing at him.
It takes a tremendous amount of resolve to force himself to speak. "I…" Travis takes a brief second to compose himself. After taking a moment to close his eyes and inhale deeply, he opens his eyes continuing on. "…I didn't know. How was I supposed to know it was Eddie who captured you?" he explained.
"You should have known!" he angrily spitted out. Blood spewing out from his mouth and splattering down on the floor in front of him. "You should have told Sarah and Ellie in Castle!" the undead former nerd herd leader pointed out.
"I thought…" At this point, Travis struggling to find the words to express how sorry he is. "…I thought I could fix this all on my own. Make it right and try to convince Eddie he was making a big mistake." he regretfully explained.
"You were wrong. Your actions didn't just cause my death." he stated shaking his head. His body wobbling back and forth all-the-while trying to remain upright.
A perplexed expressed graces Travis' brow after hearing that. He shakes his head wondering what he means by that. "Who else died because of me?"
Chuck doesn't answer him. He simply stands there continuing his attempt to remain upright. It's this point, the man who went rogue suddenly hears a familiar voice to his right.
"I did."
Upon turning his head to the right, he witness a woman with a partial head of blonde hair emerge from out of the darkness. It's Sarah and as she stands there, both hands are placed on her stomach. "Chuck's death left me and my unborn child fatherless. It's your fault that I put myself in harm's way and they died too." she further explained.
In that instance, the once blonde beauty motions over to the other side. Travis turns his head to the left and when he does witnesses another figure emerge. This times, the one shuffling out is the hulking mass of humanity that he once believed was hard on him in the beginning when he first joined the team.
"Casey…" he exhaled. "…I'm so sorry big guy." added the sorrowful ex-teammate.
Casey stands there not even responding. What he does instead is simply express a snarling zombie style grunt. It causes Travis to take a step back but he doesn't dare move from the spot that he's currently standing in. He's too afraid to leading him to continually shake his head in absolute disbelief.
Tears are beginning to well up in his eyes. "I didn't want this to happen."
"Are you sure about that?"
The voice Travis hears is once again familiar to him. It belongs to his brother-in-law Eddie. He emerges just off to the left of Casey in a zombie like state as well. As he shuffles out, he stops to where a look of remorse is expressed on his face.
"I should have stopped you before this whole thing happened."
"When? After your heard me talking on the phone in the living room?" he firmly questioned. "You were too late. Now this is all your fault!" Eddie angrily spitted out. Blood trickling down the left side of his mouth.
It's at this point, his body feels numb causing him to stumble back. The tears that welled up in his eyes now slide down both his cheeks. He forces himself to stop and it's apparent he's struggling to even stand judgingly by the way his knees are buckling. In his mind, he can't take much more of this and if one more person appears he may end up completely falling apart.
After that particular thought, he suddenly hears a voice right behind him. A very familiar voice that leads him to close his eyes and shake his head.
"No." he repeated over and over. "Not her." As much as he didn't want to knowing who is behind him, he forces himself to slowly turn around. To his horror, he sees the person emerging from out of the darkness. The mere sight of the individual causes him to suddenly drop to his knees. "Shannon." Travis despondently said.
"Yes. I died because our family was completely torn apart." Shannon angrily proclaimed. She shuffles forward and in doing so, continues speaking. "I couldn't handle the shame you brought to the family. Sarah and Ellie silently judging me for your actions even though they said it wasn't my fault. I blamed you for Eddie's death." she screamed out.
The flood gates open as Travis reaches his breaking point. He can't handle it anymore knowing full well the unfortunate domino effect his actions or inaction resulted in for Chuck, Sarah, Casey, Eddie, and most importantly his wife Shannon. While slumped down on his knees, he keeps muttering two words to himself over and over.
"I tried. I tried." he sadly repeated. Travis continually shakes his head in utter disappointment in himself.
While wallowing in his own despair, Shannon speaks up with apparent intention in mind as she slowly approaches shuffling towards her husband. "We have become the walking dead all because of you. The lives you've ruined will end up haunting you. Rot in hell you son of a bitch!" she spewed out. Blood splattering on the ground below.
Upon saying that, Shannon stands above her broken husband. Her attention is avert up and sees that Chuck, Sarah, Casey, as, well as Eddie have circled around him. In that instance, the undead wife of Travis Riley expresses an ominous bloody smile leading her to pounce on her husband. The others follow suit. As they tear/trip away at his flesh with their hands and teeth, Travis lifts his head up to the heavens screaming at the top of his lungs to words.
"I'M SORRY!"
Travis suddenly awakens immediately sitting up. Sweat pouring down his forehead. He takes a moment to get his bearings straight as he realizes it was all merely a dream. The realization would subsequently end when he feels himself not only being greeted by a couple sheep biting him in the torso and shoulder, but by the mustached gentlemen who provided transportation staring him directly in the face just to his left.
"We here. You get out now." he stated in broken English motioning for him to do just that.
In response, Travis simply nods. He pushes himself up inevitably grabbing the duffle bag he brought with him. After hopping out of the truck, he watches as the elderly mustached gentlemen works his way around the front of the truck towards the drivers side door. In a matter of seconds, he gets in and drives off leaving Travis at his intended location…the rocky terrain of the famed Lycian Way.

The morning arrival of Shannon and her kids was a welcomed sight for everyone in the Wexler Condo. Of course, she was somewhat hesitant to come because she didn't have any idea how she and her kids would be welcomed or not at all. Thankfully, they were welcomed with open arms and ushered in by the patriarch of the Wexler family along with his grandson for breakfast. As the sound of children's laughter is heard upstairs, everyone else is congregating around the island in the kitchen.
"I'm glad you and the kids came." Emily said sitting next to Shannon. A smile expressed on her lips as she gently holds baby Wesley in her arms.
After taking a moment to wash down the scrambled eggs with a glass of orange juice, she inevitably gives her response to not only her, but the rest of the gang.
"I honestly didn't know if I would be welcomed." she replied. "…after all that's happened with Travis and Eddie." Shannon added scanning the faces of those sitting around the island.
For the wife and mother of 3, she's thankful that she wasn't completely exiled from any gatherings since she has been well accustomed to the family functions. In her mind, family functions are most definitely considered a sense of normalcy in the all out craziness that is their lives. Unfortunately, the craziness has breached her own family as her own older brother abducted Chuck and now her husband has gone after them…alone.
Any other woman would end up falling apart, but Shannon isn't any woman. She has primarily lived her life in the Zeitgeist family and is used to the craziness that is the world of secrecy, as well as the dangers going along with it. A tough and independent woman through and through. However, she needs the support of those who love and care for her more than ever with all that has unfolded in the past 48 hours or so.
"It's not your fault. You had absolutely no idea what Eddie was actually doing here." Cassidy responded. The eldest Welxer sibling sits on the other side of Shannon. She reaches up with her left hand in order to gently rub in a comforting manner the side of her arm.
Shannon nods. A brief moment of silence is shared at the breakfast table between all the individuals in the kitchen. It would inevitably be broken by Devon as he speaks up.
"It's definitely not an awesome way to find out. I have 2 brothers of my own and we're close. I don't know what I would do if they betrayed me."
In response, Shannon shrugs her shoulders expresses a half smile towards the handsome heart surgeon. "Trust me, it's not a good feeling Devon."
Upon hearing that Devon nods trying to empathize with her. After doing so, it's Jayne who chimes into the conversation. She knows it's a tricky situation knowing the so called players involved are part of this close knit group excluding Eddie. The girlfriend of John Casey has to choose her words carefully or the relaxing morning breakfast will turning into the Jerry Springer Show.
"Listen…" she started. "…hopefully this will be resolved without anyone getting hurt."
"Or killed." interjected Alex. Instantly the kitchen goes silently deaf after she said that. You could literally cut the tension with the knife it's so thick. It's at that point, Alex get up and makes her way around towards Shannon. As much as she's angry that Eddie is not only responsible for Chuck's abduction, but possibly knows where her father is it's not her place to get angry towards the wrong person. She doesn't because she wasn't involved in it. Once she approaches, Shannon is already turned around in her chair facing her. "You have nothing to worry about. You're among people who love and care about you. This whole mess will hopefully be sorted out once it ends." she said expressing a comforting smile towards her.
A smile is reciprocated back. "I appreciate that. I do." Her attention is averted towards everyone in the room. "All of you for not making us feel like we're outsiders. I mean this from the bottom of my heart." she said placing both her hands over heart. Tears welling up in her eyes to the point where the floodgates are about to open.
"You're family…" she stated with a soft smile. Alex reaches taking Shannon's hands into hers. "…always remember that. We're there for each other through thick and thin." In that moment, she steps forward leaning in for a warm, comforting hug to which the mother or 3 gladly accepts. The hug last for a few moments then Alex releases her hold stepping back to witness tears streaming down her cheeks.
Instantly, Emily smiles at what she's witnessing leading her to blurt out what's currently on her mind. "Group hug!"
It doesn't take long for everyone in the kitchen to swarm Shannon enveloping their arms not only around each other, but around the wife of Travis Riley as well. The doubts she had before being invited to the Wexler condo have now been all squashed as they've provided her the best support system a woman, mother, and not to mention wife can ever have.

"I need you to stay focused." firmly stated Zondra. She stands face to face with Rashid. Although, he is an absolutely menacing figure, she is not intimated once bit.
The deep cover agent locks eyes with her overzealous and not to mention trusted right hand man. A man who unknowingly has been lied to for so many years in order to take down the man they both work for.
Of course, Rashid would give his own life for her because his loyalty is that strong and despite the out right embarrassment in front of everyone at his expense he continues to remain steadfast concerning the cause they both share.
"I am." replied Rashid. His attention is briefly averted towards the location of Casey and Chuck who are still being securely monitored not only by Eddie's associates, but their as well. "You just spoiled the fun I was about to have." he added with an ere of disappointment in his voice.
For Zondra, she knows Rashid's definition of fun. It usually involves brutal beat downs and insidious ways of psychologically torturing people. To her, she doesn't know whether it's more pleasure than business for him or it could be both.
It came to a point in the past where she actually had to leave the room because of how truly gruesome it got. The sadistic way he takes pleasure in the pain he's inflicting on the individual he's trying to extract information from.
Most of the time it's physical pain. Sometimes it mental while other times its emotional. In her mind, she has been in the agency for so many years and seen, as well as been a part of some horrific things as a deep cover agent.
True, the main targets of torture have been mostly men. Dead men walking she thinks to herself. Yes, occasionally women too. However, when it comes to children they are completely off limits. A monster with a conscience. Its rare but they are out there and thankfully he has some scruples regarding who he'll exact his utmost worst on.
Essentially, when it comes to the seemingly inventive and not to mention creative ways he tortures people even she can't believe how far he will take it. Of course, she has stepped in for the sake of her own psyche and to give the unfortunate individual being tortured temporary relief.
If only you were on our side Rashid. She quite honestly thinks his talents would be better put to excellent use for the good guys. For him, Guantanamo Bay would most definitely be considered an island paradise to utilize his talents on captured terrorists she thinks to herself. Per chance to dream. In any case, she sets her thoughts concerning her deadly right hand man and responds to what he just said.
"I promise…" she responded. "…there will be fun." A hint of smile appears on her lips in order to keep her loyal sidekick happy. Granted, if it means dangling the carrot that is sadistic torture in front of him just out of reach then so be it. She needs to guide the process further along hopefully without hurting or severely injuring for that matter Chuck or Casey. Unfortunately, if she can't they both have to take one for the team. "However, right now we're preparing for an important arrival." Zondra added quirking her right brow.
Instantly, Rashid's eyebrows rise up after hearing that announcement from her. His curiosity is peaked so much so that he blurts out the name of who he is thinking of.
"The boss?"
Zondra is momentary silent as she looks at the man standing in front of her. She can clearly see the eager anticipation plastered all over his face like a petulant adolescent child hoping to hear the news he wants if it is indeed him. Unfortunately, it's not. "No." she answered shaking her head.
"Who then?" he wondered with vapid curiosity.
"The Belgian." replied Zondra.
