Recap
When Mai came out a few minutes later, wearing the pre-selected clothes items. Naru wasn't in the front room, or the kitchen for that matter. Mai tried her bedroom next, being the only other room in the house. Sure enough, Naru was on her bed, under her cover. Mai was thankful it was a double. Naru looked up from the book he was reading, and dropped it. Mai's kimono didn't even reach her mid-thighs. Naru, on the other hand, was still missing a shirt. Mai didn't complain...
End of recap!
Mai woke in Naru's arm once again. This was the eighth time since Naru had gotten back to Japan, being he had stayed with her eight times. He had been here for twelve days, but the other four times, his mother had forced him home, her nerves getting the better of her.
Mai smiled, snuggling against Naru's chest. It was seven, and Mai had to be up soon. It was the day of her graduation after all. She had invited Naru, but as soon as everyone else found out, they had insisted on going. Mai smiled at the memory. Even the old SPR said they wanted to go, and when Mai had told them, that they needn't bother, they had insisted.
Mai wiggled, reluctantly, out of Naru's vase-like grip. She was in her new night kimono, but there was nothing under it. She found her uniform, and went into the bathroom, turned on her shower before stripping. Mai was about to climb under the cool spray, when Naru knocked on the bathroom door, wearing only his boxers. Mai re-placed her kimono, before calling Naru in.
"Morning Naru" Mai greeted, rubbing her eyes gingerly. Naru smiled, wrapping his arms around Mai's waist. It was only meant to be an innocent kiss, but even this early in the morning, lust quickly washed over the teens. Naru tilted his head, deepening the passionate kiss. Mai's knees buckled, but with Naru's hold of her, and his chest pressed against her, she wouldn't fall.
With Naru's hands snaked around her, Mai didn't notice he had untied her kimono at the back. Mai had to hold it in place. Mai smirked against his lips, before pulling away. She climbed into the shower, pulled the curtains to cover her, before throwing her kimono over it. She poked her head out, seeing Naru's raised brow, and smirk of his own. Mai beckoned him in with her. Naru didn't think twice about removing his boxers and joining her...
Ten minutes later, the two exited the bathroom. Naru in a towel, Mai dressed. Naru took some clothes from his bag, and got dressed. He didn't even bother cover himself.
"Naru, I forgot to tell you... there will be a party after the graduation, but you don't have to go if you don't want to" Mai told him, picking out her dress. It was the little black dress that was picked out for her. Naru noticed how short it was, and scowled.
"Are you wearing that?" Naru asked, his voice cold and bitter. Mai blinked, than looked back at her dress.
"I was going to, but... what's wrong with it?" Mai asked carefully, wondering if Naru though it was ugly.
"If you are going to wear something that revealing, then I guess I have to go" Naru teased, but Mai didn't raise to the bait. "Can't have everyone drooling over you" Naru added, but Mai didn't hear him. Probably for the best.
"That's the... spirit?" Mai muttered, unsure. Naru smiled, turning to the love of his life. Mai smiled back, before putting on her blazer. "I have to go now" Mai announced, picking up her bag.
"I'll walk you" Naru suggested. Mai blushed, shaking her head.
"Naru, everyone from my school knows about you being Oliver, and they will swarm you... and they know about us... I really don't think you need that kind of attention" Mai stated sadly.
"I get that all the time. And even though, it will be a pain to put up with them, I will for you" Naru told her, pulling Mai into his arms and kissing her. While she was distracted, he took her bag, and her hand, before walking to the door.
"Do I have a choice?" Mai teased.
"Nope"
Mai and Naru walked, hand in hand to Mai's school, but upon arrival, Mai and Naru (as predicted) were swarmed.
"Is that Oliver Davis?!" A girl squealed.
"Are you guys dating?!" Another asked.
"Are you staying round Mai's place?!" Yet another questioned. Mai sighed, knowing this was going to happen. It was the snide whispered that got on their nerves though, but it wasn't even just the girls. Some guys were scoffing, saying how he 'isn't that great'. Mai really didn't need this right now. Mai and Naru walked back round the corner, slipping away as two girls started a heated argument about who Naru would go out with when, and I quote 'Oliver realised he could do better'.
"I knew this was going to happen" Mai muttered, but it wasn't cold or condescending. It was almost as if she was expecting it, but slightly disappointed she was right. Naru just smiled, before pulling Mai into a hug.
"I know" Naru agreed, giving Mai a short kiss, "But you are easily worth it" Mai smiled, her cheeks a light pink.
"See you at seven?"
"I'll be there" Naru assured, gazing deep into Mai's eyes. A collective of 'awes' pulled the teens from their trance. Mai blushed, while Naru worked to keep his expression controlled. If he didn't he might have blushed himself.
"I have to go" Mai told Naru, kissing his cheek before running off. A group of girls followed her, shouting questions and accusations. Mai quickened her pace, turning once to flash Naru a smile, before walking into her school...
"Miss Taniyama!" Mai's headmaster called, stopping Mai in her tracks. She turned, just as a panicked man ran up to her.
"Yes sir?" Mai asked, concerned for her bewildered principle.
"Miss Tamaki called in sick, and she was valedictorian, so I need a replacement... and you were top of the list" He explained. Mai's eye's widened and jaw dropped.
"Wha- Why me?" Mai asked, wondering what was so special about her.
"We were going to pick you first, but you were due back late. I have Miss Tamaki's speech, so you could just read that if you don't want to make your own" The headmaster suggested, handing Mai a slip of paper. Mai took a look at it, and cringed. It was so perfectly written, and it was so formal, Mai felt she would fall asleep reading it.
"I, um, guess I could fill in... I will just read this, I don't really have time to write one as good" Mai agreed, somewhat sheepishly. The principle smiled, letting out a sigh of relief. He wasn't sure what he would have done if she turned it down.
"Ok, I will let you go back to rehearsals, but you wont be made to read the speech till the dress rehearsal" The principle assured, sending Mai a thankful look before walking away...
It was ten to seven, and everyone had taken there seats. Mai was backstage, waiting for her cue. Her stomach was turning, and she felt sick. She peaked out at everyone, seeing Naru at the front, on the guests side. Next to him was Luella, then Martin, Lin, Madoka, Yasu, Monk, Ayako and John. At the back, Masako sat. Mai didn't notice her, she was too busy shaking.
"Good evening everyone, I am the headmaster, Mr kuruzaki" The headmaster introduced. "And I have had the privilege to meet some wonderful people, some interesting people, and even some who could replace me" Cue audience chuckle. "Anyway, without thither ado, it brings me great joy to introduce our valedictorian, Mai Taniyama!"
Naru nearly choked on his own spit. He was so, overwhelmingly proud. When everyone clapped, attention was drawn to Monk and Yasu, who were clapping like crazies, and crying like babies.
"Awe, Martin!" Luella whispered "Look at our little girl" She squealed.
"I'm so proud of her" Martin agreed, noticing the strange looks Naru and Lin were giving them. Madoka was playing along, fanning her eyes to stop herself crying.
Mai walked on stage, managing a timid smile. She chanced a look at Naru, and tried not to blush at his smile and look of pride. It was difficult, but she managed it. Mai held up the speech, but her palms were sweaty, her eye's unfocused, and her mouth dry. Mai had made it to the stand, but still hadn't managed a word. Mai took another glance at Naru, and used his strength. She sighed, putting away her speech.
"I ha-had a speech" Mai started, silently cursing her stutter. "But I didn't write it, and I don't think it reflects us enough" Mai took a calming, but shaky breath "The time we spent here, together, not just as class mates, but as friends, were some of the best times" Mai then turned to her friends. "From now on, it will only get harder, but we have lay the foundation of our future. I haven't had the chance to meet you all, and that is something I will always regret, but the ones I did meet, have the potential to succeed is anything and everything they put there minds to" Mai smiled, a tear rolling down her cheek. "And I will miss you all" And with that, Mai bowed, before walking off. Mr Kuruzaki nodded in thanks, before carrying on with the graduation. Mai took her seat, which was the one closest to Naru.
'You did great' He mouthed.
Mai smiled, 'thanks' She mouthed back...
Ten minutes in, Mai's name was called. She stood, and walked to the side of the stage, and climbed the steps. The headmaster shook her hand, and handed Mai, her award...
Half an hour later, they were finished, the graduates removing their caps, and throwing them as high as they could. A man took a picture, getting the moment the caps were in the air. Then everyone was dismissed. Mai walked over to Naru and everyone else.
"Why didn't you tell us you were valedictorian?" Madoka demanded, pulling Mai into a hug.
"I wasn't till today, the girl who was meant to be, was ill" Mai informed, sheepishly. Luella smiled, pulling Mai to herself.
"Well, you did great, even when you didn't have time to prepare!" Luella congratulated. Mai beamed, but when Masako approached, her smile turned into a forced frown. She didn't want to be angry, but she felt she should be. Masako managed a small, sincere smile.
"Masako, your here too! How lovely, we didn't think you would show up!" Luella greeted, smiling before she saw the scowl her son was wearing. She was going to scold him, for being so rude, but when she saw Mai's frown, she dropped her complaint. Prehaps they had a reason to be upset with her.
"Hello Mrs Davis, it's nice to see you again" Masako greeted, then she turned her attention to Mai "You did great Mai-San, I didn't expect you to be valedictorian... no one told me" Masako then turned to John, her eyes full of hurt. Asking herself if him had left it out on purpose.
"I was only made valedictorian today, no one else knew till just now" Mai informed, her voice trying to be be cold, but not quite managing it.
"Well since we are all here, maybe we should go out to dinner to celebrate?!" Luella suggested. Mai rubbed the back of her neck, and was going to explain that she couldn't but, Naru beat her too it.
"Mother, we will have to postpone... Mai and I are staying here for a party to celebrate the graduated" Naru explained. Madoka, Lin, Martine and Luella was shocked to say the least. Naru agreeing to go to a party, was so unlike him. And Lin knew for a matter of fact the students who were under his and Naru's care in England would be here. And Lin knew they were prone to asking questions.
"Ok?" Luella agreed slowly, sounding like she was asking a question. "I hope you have fun" She continued at last, pinching her arm had determined she wasn't dreaming.
Everyone was filtering out, and the chairs were being cleared, as well as food and drink being set up. Mai took off her gown, momentarily forgetting what little she was wearing under it... her little black dress. She heard Madoka and Luella squeal like fan-girls, before engulfing Mai in a hug.
"Mai you look amazing!" Luella cried, taking a good look at the girl. "That dress suits you so much!"
"Yeah Mai, you look hot!" Madoka added, gesturing Mai to turn.
"Mai! That dress it too short! People will take advantage!" Monk scolded, seeing Yasu repeatedly winking at her. Ayako whacked him on the head, then moved to whack Yasu as well.
"You really think anyone would try that with Naru here?" Mai asked, having a valid point.
"It's Naru I'm worried about!" Monk yelled through gritted teeth. Mai blushed at the accusation, and Naru tried not to smirk. Monk looked between them, and something clicked. He started yelling assumptions. Correct assumptions, but assumptions none the less. Ayako came to the rescue, dragging Monk out by his ear.
"Call me when we are meeting, we will be free anytime!" Ayako called back, before walking out. Luella nodded, before taking her husband's hand.
"Call us when you two finnish having fun, and we will meet at our apartment!" Luella cheered, leading out, the old SPR following behind them, leaving Mai and Naru.
"That dress looks nice on you" Naru complimented.
"Thanks, it's warm in here, can we go outside?" Mai asked, her smile to bright for Naru to say no too.
"Sure" Naru agreed, allowing Mai to link her arm with his.
It wasn't cold, and it wasn't too breezy. It was dark, but the moon and the stars shined bright. Mai's big childish eyes lit up, looking at the beautiful scenery. She turned to Naru, saw him looking up at the sky, his eyes void of any emotion.
"I'm going back soon" He told her. Mai's smile dropped, and her whole body pained with her heartbreak. She knew he wouldn't stay, but she had hoped he would. She just held onto the idea, the hope of him staying longer, with all her strength, but in the end, her vase like grip wasn't anything if it wasn't true.
"Oh" Was all Mai could manage, as tears streamed down her cheek.
"Come with me...
This is the end! I'm sorry! But my sequel is yet to come! I haven't decided on a name yet, so if you have any suggestions, please tell me! Please R&R!
