I woke with a jolt when the alarm clock went off the next morning. I was having an amazing dream where the Katherine Pierce's of the world did not exist even though Damon swears up and down that she is not a threat to our marriage. He says he can't even look at her without picturing me and that pleases me. 95% of me is secure in what I mean to Damon, but the pessimistic 5% thinks that it's too good to be true. Damon will have offers and stay his sexy self while I get fat.
"Do we have to get up?" Damon grunted with his head pressed into his pillow and his arm pulling me close to his body.
"Unfortunately. Mady will be up soon and I'd like to shower without her interrupting." I told him wriggling out of his arms.
"Ugh." He whined. I slipped out of our bed and walked into the bathroom shutting the door behind me. I never locked it anymore, it never bothered me if Damon walked in. We were married and it's not like he's never seen all of me before. I started the water and undressed before stepping under the spray. I heard the bathroom door open moments later and saw Damon come in through the frosted glass. He opened the shower door and slipped in behind me.
"What are you doing?" I asked reflexively turning around and wrapping my arms around his neck. I was secretly pleased he decided to join me under the spray.
"I missed my wife and things were tense last night." He whispered. As long as we were quiet Mady would sleep until 7 and we would be free enjoy one another until then.
"What about Mady?" I asked him and he smirked.
"I checked on her before I came in here. She's still out." He confirmed and I smiled and kissed him. He kissed me back eagerly and I felt him harden against my stomach.
"I want you." I said to him and he smiled against my lips.
"I'm glad." He responded before hoisting me up against the wall of the shower which was cold against my skin.
"We're going to have to be quick. I don't want Mady to wake up while we're in here." I told him and he nodded and kissed me hard. He slid inside me in one fluid thrust and started moving. By now he knew exactly what I needed when we were together and his pace was perfect. His thrusts perfectly fast and perfectly deep. Each one making me see stars. My nails dug into his back and his hands rested on my ass as he pumped into me over and over again.
"God I love you." I panted as he took me higher and higher.
"I love you too. Only you." He replied as his pace quickened. His words were enough to send me over the edge. He pumped a few more times before he came, his body shuddering against mine.
"Wow. That was unexpected." I laughed.
"I had to do it. I needed you." He told me and I laughed again. He pulled out and quickly grabbed the shampoo off the ledge and massaged it into his scalp. I slid over so he could rinse it out while I washed my body. When he finished he stepped out and got dressed so one of us was ready when Mady woke up. When I finished in the shower, I got out and met Damon in the kitchen. He already had Mady at the table and was making her breakfast. Any thought that he was anything less than completely devoted to us was laughable. Damon was in it for us forever. I couldn't doubt that. It didn't mean that the appearance of Katherine Pierce in our lives made me comfortable though. I trusted Damon, not her.
"So do you have Professor Pierce's class today?" I asked idly and Damon looked at me.
"Don't worry about Katherine. I haven't even directly spoken to her yet." He told me and I nodded.
"I trust you Damon. I just worry about what she would do to get your attention. I know what it's like to have you, so I understand why she's talking to you again after all these years. I've lost you before and I couldn't stand to ever have that happen again." I told him and he walked over and wrapped his arms around me.
"You have never lost me Elena. Even when we've been apart you're always been the love of my life." He told me and I loved him even more in that moment. He always knew just what to say to talk me down from the ledge.
"I love you Damon." I whispered. He tilted my face up and kissed me tenderly.
"Ew no kiss." Mady screeched and we pulled apart with a chuckle.
"No kisses Mady?" Damon asked as we went on either side of her.
"Kissy yucky." She said shaking her head still waiting patiently for her breakfast. Damon and I laughed and leaned down to kiss her on each cheek at the same time. She glared at us after and rubbed her cheeks. It seemed this morning she woke up with a no kissing mood going on. She made me laugh and I couldn't wait to see what the new baby was like. If this baby was anything like Mady we were in trouble. I could only imagine what two of them would be like.
After breakfast I got Mady ready to go and Damon left for his first class of the day.
"Have you heard from Klaus recently?" I asked Damon noticing for the first time he hasn't really been around since the whole Caroline debacle.
"He's been staying with Cami for a couple days since the whole "I love you" thing." He told me and I smiled.
"I fear that we're going to lose our roommate soon." I noted as we followed Damon outside.
"We won't. Cami basically told him that he was not moving in with her. She said the only reason their relationship works is because they don't spend every moment together. They each need their own spaces." Damon told me as he stood by the door of my car as I loaded Mady in.
"Good. I guess I'll see you tonight." I said.
"I'll be home around dinner time. I'm studying with James and the guys after class." He told me.
"Alright. I guess I'll see you then. Are you still good to stay with Mady tomorrow night so I can go out with Cami for that girl's night?" I asked.
"Absolutely." He said and I smiled and kissed him briefly.
"Okay, I'll see you tonight." I said getting into my car. Damon walked to his and followed me out. We parked beside each other as usual and he went to his classes and I took Mady to daycare.
When lunch time came around I went to the cafeteria to meet Damon. On the days we both had morning classes we always made sure to eat lunch together. When I got there I saw him talking to a gorgeous blonde who appeared to be older. He didn't look relaxed and I immediately knew that she was the infamous Katherine. Damon sighed and looked over seeing me standing there. He immediately smiled and called me over. Katherine looked up and sneered at me when I went to stand beside Damon.
"Professor Pierce, this is my wife Elena." Damon said introducing me with the emphasis on wife.
"Come on Damon, call me Katherine. You know you used to." She said flirtatiously.
"Like I said Professor Pierce, meet me WIFE Elena." He said again.
"Nice to meet you." I said aiming for politeness. It wasn't in my nature to be rude to someone event though every part of me wanted to tell her to back off.
"Charmed I'm sure." She said with a sneer. Her expression made it clear to me that I wasn't to get comfortable. She made me aware without a single word that she was used to getting what she wanted and what she wanted this time around was my husband. I smiled at her and tightened my hold on Damon's hand making it clear to her that I wasn't giving up without a fight. And right now, I knew I had the advantage.
