I ran towards where ever I heard the sounds of swords clanging, hoping everybody was okay. My tireless running came to an end, when I found Si'ta and Karliah running towards my direction. We stopped and our ends met, at the top of a road, along side a ledge, leading to a long drop into a river. We were very happy to find one another, Even Karliah shed a display of relief.
I smiled and spoke, "Are you all okay?"
"No!" Karliah shouted. "It's your father, He's..."
"What of him...?"
Si'ta said while catching her breath, "He ran into us while we were fighting vigilants, and he tried to handle the entire situation."
"Tell me everything that happened, Si'ta."
"Huzara appeared on our way out of Markarth and it turns out he sold us out to the White Knight for his own gain, then Your father killed him. He then tried to order us all to go to Riften, but we pissed on that; Only Sharia followed him."
"Okay, but That doesn't explain where Hildir is though."
Si'ta began to speak as if she didn't want to tell me the problem, "Ly'ro, Do you remember an elf, that wanted Hildir?"
I pondered. "Hmm. Yes, an elf named Silver, or something like that."
Karliah said, "When I shot him back at Windhelm, he never died. He healed himself with a potion. He returned to us, and demanded her from your father, and in return our own safety from the vigilants. Dar'Jo Knocked her out and gave her to him, in a poor attempt to keep us safe."
My heart felt as if it stopped for a moment. "...What?!"
Si'ta pointed at the ground. "Ly'ro, the elf got away using a horse, and the tracks are right here on the ground. They must have taken this path at some point."
"We have to go stop him, now!" I shouted furiously. My body was in complete shock and panic, knowing Hildir was in danger.
Then suddenly, from both sides of the road, Armored vigilants appeared and charged at us, giving horizontal swings with their greatswords; We were ambushed.
"Duck!" Karliah quickly crouched, and unsheathed her own nightingale blade. I quickly tackled Si'ta, shoving her into a safe area, away from the enemy's attack. Realizing that Korrinir caught up to me, I immediately became proactive. I lifted Si'ta up, and spoke to her quickly. "Keep tracking the horse Hildir is on and save her! Go to Solitude if you cant find us! Go!" She quickly nodded and dashed. One of the knights tried to stop Si'ta from continuing forward by running directly into her, but the evaded him with sheer speed and nimbleness. I was too busy worrying about the vigilants to be impressed at her feat, however.
I quickly ran to Karliah's aid, who was currently clashing swords with one of the vigilants. She gave a swift stab to the knight, a sweet-spot in his armor, the throat area. The knight fell, and was presumptuously incapacitated, waiting for his own death. A knight tried to attack me, but Karliah tackled me into safety, as I did to Si'ta earlier. "Their throats are unarmored, strike there." She quickly said, lifting me from the ground.
When she lifted me up, we were surrounded by three knights, but Korrinir was nowhere to be seen. I couldn't take the time to think about Korrinir's whereabouts, because a duo of the knights decided to attack me. Two knights both swung their great-edges at me, which I dodged swiftly. I was behind them already by time they were in the middle of their strike; That gave me a window of opportunity. I horizontally swing, just barely tearing into his throat, leaving another knight down. I take a few steps back to recompose myself. Karliah already killed the knight she was fighting, so our last target was outnumbered. Me and Karliah together Threw Our legs high, kicking the leftover vigilant of the edge of the cliff, presuming he would fall to his death. He let out of a fearful scream as he plundered off the cliff.
After the fray was over, I took a deep breath.
Karliah quickly said, "Don't rest yet, This isn't over."
"I know that, Korrinir hasn't shown up yet."
"Who?"
"The White Knight."
"Oh."
"Yeah, that's his name, I'll explain everything later."
Korrinir then appeared, not in a sudden manner, However; The sounds of his horse was immediately heard coming up the road. He stops, looking at the situation from his high horse. He looks at all his dead men, and then looks at us, who were glaring right back, with ferocity. He removes himself from his horse, and approaches us slowly; His bright radiant blade is already in his right hand, and his left hand glows of a red fire.
We both channeled our magicka, and transformed into nightingales.
He spoke to us after gazing at our transformation, "Good thing I didn't spend any time chasing that khajiit woman, otherwise you two probably would've gotten away. Anyway, We meet again, dunmer." He raises his weapon, and his magicka-charged hand.
"And you." He pointed his sword at me. "You are The Requisite, am I wrong?"
"Spare me the introductions, You're about die." I said, threateningly.
He chuckled briefly. "Such confidence, coming from a mere boy. I've slain three-fold my number; What chance do you think you have?"
"I... We have Nocturnal at our backs, and she treats us more than well." I began developing a sense of pride with those words.
Karliah looked at me briefly, then looked refocused. Though her face was masked, I could just tell she was smiling at what I said.
I continued to speak, "You think you're strong because you have a daedric artifact? Think again."
He laughed. "I am not strong because I carry an artifact. I am strong because I'm a survivor. I've been through the great civil war, I've survived a dragon attack, and more. I am strong because of my own experience, and nothing less. What do you have, Khajiit boy?"
I grew frustrated at his words. "Enough talk!" I readied my blade, and our battle began.
Korrinir casted a large fireball, hurling it at us. We both split from our side-by-side position, dodging the projectile and charged directly at Korrinir. As we ran into him, He stopped our charging attack by casting another fire-type spell into the ground in front of him, causing an explosion. We were both hurled backwards by the blast, leaving us on our kneeled legs.
I devised a plan quickly, presuming his magicks would make close combat difficult, "Karliah, I'll take him head on! Use your bow and try to shoot him in his throat!"
Karliah nodded and dashed backwards, equipping her bow.
"Try to flank him, I have an idea." I muttered.
I approached him with my arm raised while Karliah stood where she was. Korrinir wasn't stupid however; His head was aimed only Karliah, even while I charged at him with a shout. I furiously strike, aiming at his supposed weak-point, his throat. He blocks it with his own blade without even looking at me; His eyes were still not letting go of Karliah.
Karliah had an arrow in her bow prepared to fire, but she was hesitant to do so, seeing that Korrinir was looking directly at him.
I continued to swing and swing, but all my strikes were deflected by his blade. He finally grew tired of my repeated attacks and threw another fireball into the ground, Hurling me backwards a few yards again. This time I collapse to me knees slightly, breaking my fall with my arms. It was clear that I spent too much of my stamina mindlessly thrashing at him. A cloud of smoke was visible after the fireball was cast, Giving Karliah a window of oppurtunity. She immediately fired, hoping her shot would hit him in his weak-point; She had no such luck. There was silence after she fired into the smoke. We had both stared at the cloud until it faded.
An unexpected fireball was cast from the smoke at Karliah, but she quickly ducked, avoiding the attack. The smoke cleared, with Korrinir's eyes still centered on Karliah.
I began to execute my plan. I channeled red magicka into my left hand and pointed it at Korrinir. He tilted his head towards me; I managed to get his attention. I fired it near him passing right by his head. He attempted to strike me, putting all his attention towards me which is exactly what I wanted. Karliah moves from her original position while Korrinir's eyes were off of her. I channeled my red magicka to my hand again, hesitant to fire; I merely pointed it at him.
Korrinir's left hand glowed of a blue aura suddenly after that. He held his hand out, emitting a blue, radiant, wall of magicka. I read about these type of spells with my mother, They were called wards, if I remember correctly. They deflected spells, if the strength of the user was good enough; That was perfect for my plan. I made a confident grin and fired my spell at Korrinirs ward, colliding into the barrier. I dropped my blade and began to channel magicka into my other hand, firing my spells with both hands at his ward. Korrinir continues to hold his ward fiercely, attempting to think of a way to counterattack.
I began to strafe to the left, hoping he could continue to give me his attention as I sidestepped. I got exactly what I wanted. He continued to direct his ward at me, turning it to my direction as I was slowly changing my angle. While I was gaining the upper hand, I was still slightly worried: Both of our magickas were being exhausted with the use of our moves, and it was only a matter of time before one of us couldnt continue.
Korrinir suddenly shut his ward off. I stopped firing my spells as soon as he did. We stared at each other for a brief moment, and there was silence. The thumping sound of a fired bow was heard, and an arrow suddenly flied, skewering Korrinir, directly in his throat. He fell to a knee, clutching his neck, which began to leak blood.
I picked my sword back up and grew a successful grin. Karliah ran from her hiding spot which was behind Korrinir and moved right beside me. She looked at me with an impressed smile, The first clear smile I've ever seen from her. "I see what you did there, Ly'ro. You're more clever than I thought." She said.
I tried not to be distracted by her noticeable display. "Thanks." I said, smiling back.
We both turned our attention back to Korrinir, who was still kneeled on the ground with his hands on his neck. After a few more seconds, he stands back up straight, as if he had never been hit, and Pulled the arrow out of his body, without even a single display of any pain.
My grin immediately faded. I was disturbed by such an act.
He inspects the bloody arrow that offended him and says, "Very clever, Requisite. Those spells you were casting at me weren't damaging spells at all, were they?"
I grew a frustrated look.
"I see. You diverted attention from the archer by tricking me. Whatever spell you were using, it wasn't an offensive spell, and you knew that I wouldn't be effected by it in any way, so you purposefully fired your first spell indirectly, so It wouldn't hit me, having me assume it was an offensive spell. You were sidestepping while you were firing your spells so I could keep aiming my ward at you, and turn my back on the archer, which was what you wanted all along. And those spells couldn't have been anything that could effect me..." He dropped the arrow Karliah Fired. "That's why you stopped firing them as soon as I released my ward, am I wrong?"
I admitted my plan, "Well, it was also because I exhausted my magicka, but yes, you're right. It was just a fury spell."
"Well then, I'll have you know..." He began to radiate a bright red aura. "Your cheap tricks wont save you against me." He made a animistic roar, and the ground began to vibrate. His body, or his armor specifically, erupted a bright red aura, as if he had increased in power. His dawnbreaker blade which what already looked threatening, caught on fire! It was some type of magical fire, some type of enchantment perhaps, I had no idea. "Behold, the power of Meridia."
Karliah and I stood before him, startled by his power.
He points his fire-engulfed blade at us. "This battle is over, officially."
