Hey, guys! As promised, here is the next chapter! Sorry for the long wait... FanFiction had issues with alerts and updating, so I didn't want to publish if nobody was notified that I was back up and running! Thankfully, they fixed it yesterday (I think).
**If this is your first notification from me in awhile, that means you were not notified about the last chapter I uploaded (I uploaded it a few days ago). Please read chapter 25 and then come back to 26 to continue! Thank you!**
Just to let you all know, this chapter is a little different than what chapters usually are for this story. While writing it, I tried to throw some sarcastic drama in here, but it came out as... well, it just looks like bad drama. Try not to view it as if it was written seriously (especially the ending). It's supposed to just be cringe worthy. Hope this makes sense!
Anyways, welcome back to my readers/welcome to new readers! I tried to put all important information in last chapter as a reminder (go check out chapter 25). If you're still confused, let me know through a review/PM and I will gladly answer!
Thanks! Enjoy!
Last Chapter:
"Either way, we don't have the rest of the book. The middle was ripped out and so was the ending, leaving one chapter in the middle that contains some scarring material that nobody would subject anybody to. How did Amaryl leave only that one chapter? She ripped out and took everything else…"
"Convenience, man," Riven responded. He looked back to the frozen scene. "We should get back. We need to catch Roxy before she does anything crazy." Brandon nodded in agreement.
The two men turned away from the wall that they were staring intently at and walked back to their previous position. They raised their leg and posed their arms, imitating running. As soon as they got back into their positions, the scene started again.
The Winx Read My Melody
Chapter 26: Stupid Book
"Catch her!" Riven called. They were chasing Roxy through the halls of Alfea. Riven was running so hard and exerting so much energy that he could feel the start of a nosebleed from his un-set nose. Stupid book.
"What do you think we're doing!?" Layla growled, glaring at the Specialist running beside her. Even with her minor identity crisis, she was able to think clearly and chase her possible co-member of the Winx. Nobody really knew where Roxy stood. Was she a Winx or was she just that annoying little girl that fangirled over them? Nobody really knew.
"I gotta… I gotta take a breather," Stella huffed, slowing down. She was seeing double, which was not a good thing. It did not help her in the running department and she needed all the help she could get there, especially considering she was in heels.
"Come on!" Brandon called, taking hold of Stella's hand. He began pulling her down the hallway. Helia was leading the pack, his non-existent hair waiving behind him in the air.
"Stupid Sky," he muttered. He really missed his nice locks.
"We're losing her!" Riven yelled. Sure enough, Roxy had transformed and was flying towards the front doors. "DID ANYBODY BRING THE TAPE?!"
"I got something better!" Layla called. She transformed in the air and took off speeding after Roxy. Riven scoffed.
"How is that any better? We still don't have anything to tie her up with!"
"Morphix, dude," Brandon answered. Riven shook his head.
"She's in the middle of an identity crisis. I doubt she even knows what her powers are right now. Do you think she'll be able to use them?"
"… True."
"Stupid book." That seemed to be the phrase of the day.
"I'll help!" Stella called. Before anybody could protest, she transformed and took off after her two friends. Well… She took off after her friend and Roxy.
"No!" Brandon yelled. He swore under his breath. "She has a concussion. She can't even walk straight!" Sure enough, Stella flew right into a wall. She hit the wall with such force that it knocked her out and she plummeted to the floor like a fly. The remaining guys cringed. "I got her – you guys keep going!" He peeled off from the group and returned to check on his partner.
"We have to get there before anything bad happens!" Riven ordered Helia. It was only the both of them left.
"What's the worst that could happen?"
They turned the corner and stopped dead in their tracks.
"Well, I guess this answered your question," Riven muttered. Roxy and Layla were rolling around on the ground, pulling each other's hair and biting. Riven winced when Layla laid a punch on Roxy's jaw. "Dang, that's pretty serious."
"NO!" Helia called, pulling Riven's attention away from the girls fighting. Helia was pointing in horror to the little brown book in the grass. It was caught in red hot flames of a fire in the middle of the grass.
"What do we do!?" They called in union. They turned to each other. "Don't look at me!" They glared.
"If we let it burn, will it lift the curse?"
"Or are we dooming ourselves?" The book had warned them – finish the book, or else you would be punished. They already lost ten of their friends to the power the book held. The book had possessed them. Would burning it erase their last hopes of finishing the book and being free of the curse, but possibly lose some of their friends to further possession?
"Me warned you'all."
Riven felt his heart drop. Helia nearly wet himself. Layla and Roxy paused in their fight. Brandon and Stella suddenly emerged from the castle, almost as if they were called out. Magically, at the same time, their eyes turned towards the source of the voice. Somehow, they managed to all gasp at the same time.
No, the gasp was not in response to the person standing there.
It was in response to the grammar.
"Honey, I don't even know where to begin…" Stella muttered.
"I do!" Helia called. "IT IS 'I'! AS IN EYEBALL!"
"You'all? Giiiiiiiiiirl." The group turned to Riven. He shrugged.
"Hia, daddy!" the girl chirped.
There was a girl standing in the middle of the yard. She couldn't be older than sixteen, but she wasn't younger than fourteen. Somehow, they knew that she was fifteen years old. It was almost as if it was written on her forehead! It was just so easy to guess her age.
Riven had a sinking suspicion that he knew who this girl was. Who could deny it? Her hair was identical to his ex-girlfriends and her eyes… Her eyes were identical to his.
"Melodia," he growled. The girl smiled evilly, her eyes sparkling in the sun.
"What's up, daddy?" Riven glared at the girl.
"I'm not your father." He looked at her. She was wearing fishnets, high black boots, along with a black mini-dress. Following the latest Earth fashion trend, she had a black choker with a small pendant hanging from it around her neck. Yes, even Riven kept up with the current Earth fashion. "If I was your father, I would not let you out of the house like that! You're not even sixteen!"
"Oh, I no. Thats the best park tho! Its like playing dressup." The image shifted to a younger girl. She wore a similar outfit to the one the older girl wore, but it was clearly too large for her. It was almost as if the younger girls was playing dress up in her mother's clothing. She looked so innocent.
While her performance continued, Brandon couldn't help but snicker. He thought her grammar was bad while reading the book, but it seemed all of the atrociousness from text was brought to life with her. Couldn't they catch a break?
"Aw, you're so cute," Stella cooed. Brandon tugged her behind him. The image shifted back to the older Melodia. Stella faked a gag. "Honey, I don't have anything against black, but wear it sparingly! It looks like you're going to a funeral." The girl smiled sweetly.
"I am." Her smile shifted into a more menacing one. "You'res."
There was a moment of silence. The group looked at each other, eyes wide.
Then, Riven burst out laughing. Quickly, he was joined by his friends.
"Okay, first of all-" Layla couldn't even finish her sentence.
"It is 'yours', girl. 'You're' is a contraction of 'you' and 'are'. Geez, did your parents teach you anything?!" Roxy laughed. Melodia growled.
"You mean 'Did you're parents teach you anything' – according to Melodia's grammar!" Brandon joked. The group snickered. Meanwhile, Riven never stopped laughing.
"THAT WAS THE LAMEST THREAT EVER!" he roared. This started the group's laughter back up again.
Melodia glared. Her hands balled into fists and her eyes narrowed. She looked strikingly like Riven when she got angry.
"What's so funny?!" she screamed. "I just threat ended you!" That only made the group laugh harder. Her poor, poor grammar. Melodia huffed. "Your supposed to be scared write now!"
"Dude, I just taught you your yours!" Roxy whined.
"Oh, honey, you're so naïve. We have faced more death than you would ever know!" Stella declared.
Roxy was about to mention that they had hardly faced death, as only one close member to the team had passed away over the span of multiple different enemies and multiple years. She chose to keep her mouth shut. After all, she was standing right beside Layla, who was the person who had lost her husband… Or was it her fiancé? Or was it her boyfriend? … Was he really dead? Roxy wasn't sure – she heard too many versions of the same story to keep it straight. She decided she would have to research that more later.
"Plus, they have us!" Shadows hit the ground from above. The group gasped and cheered at what they saw.
The whole team to be taken down one by one had some how escaped their confinement and joined them for the final battle, all in perfect health. The field was now filled with everyone who had ever touched the cursed book; Bloom, Stella, Flora, Musa, Tecna, Layla, Mirta, Amaryl, Sky, Brandon, Helia, Riven, Timmy, Mrs. Faragonda, and Mrs. Griselda. What lucky timing!
"Dude…" Helia muttered, a frown covering his face. Sky still had Helia's hair weaved into his. "That's just messed up."
"Let's go girls!" Bloom called, as if it was straight off of a script. Without hesitation, the Winx with the addition of Mirta and Amaryl took off in pursuit of Melodia. The young girl's eyes widened in fear before narrowing. She jumped into the air and transformed into a more revealing and darker outfit. Riven didn't think it was possible to wear more black with less clothing on, but somehow Melodia accomplished it.
It was clear the Winx had met their match. Melodia still wore her magic ring and it gave her a boost only Dragon Fire could give her.
Even though there were the six Winx members, one hybrid, two classmates, and two staff members, Melodia was holding her own.
That didn't even factor the thousands of hours of practice the light side held compared to Melodia's few.
Heck, Melodia didn't even have her powers when she started to attend Alfea! She had only been a fairy for a few months.
…But that didn't stop her! Of course not! It was eleven trained fairies, all with Enchantix level transformations, verses one young fairy that only held her basic transformation.
It seemed like Melodia was the strongest fairy ever. Wow, who knew!?
Spells where flying over the heads of the guys. All of the Specialists stood as they watched the females fight.
Realization dawned on Riven. How did they even get there? They couldn't fly! Riven had a strange image of Sky riding the back of Bloom as they flew into battle. Even better, he had the image of Timmy being carried by Mrs. Faragonda, bridal style.
The next image put a smile on Helia's face. Mrs. Griselda was carrying Sky into battle, but dropped him before getting to them.
That would teach him for shaving his head.
But, alas, the secrets of the Specialists were never revealed.
The battle continued. It seemed as if Melodia's strategy was to target each of the girls individually, only defending the attacks of the others until the girl fell. Stella was the first to fall, as she couldn't even see straight. She crashed to the ground. Luckily, she was uninjured even though gravity still existed! Next, Mirta fell, closely followed by Amaryl.
It was only a few minutes into the battle, but only Bloom, Musa, Mrs. Faragonda and Roxy survived. It was clear why Bloom and Mrs. Faragonda lasted the whole battle – they were by far the most powerful. They were the second and third most powerful fairies in existence – only after Melodia. It was unclear why Musa and Roxy seemed to be unharmed.
Riven winced as Roxy fell from the sky, right on top of Sky who stood beside him. The men were attending to the girls on the ground. Sky and Riven kept glancing to the sky to watch their partners (or ex-partners) fight.
"Enough!" Melodia cried. She let out a burst of energy, taking down Mrs. Faragonda and Bloom. Musa was the only fairy left standing. Melodia let an evil chuckle escape her lips.
For a small girl who had terrible grammar, she seemed to have mastered the art of the evil laugh. Riven determined that she should've spent more time hitting the books than perfecting that 'mwhahaha.' And that was coming from him – someone who never studied.
Melodia waved her hand down at the ground, creating a barrier between the fallen and the battle. Musa was panting, trying to catch her breath. Melodia didn't even looked fazed. She turned to Musa. "Mother." Musa's eyes widened.
"I am not your mother!" she called. Musa threw a blast at Melodia. She dodged it effortlessly. "You do not exist! You come from a book that nobody wants to read! You come from a world that doesn't exist!" Melodia chuckled.
"Howdy ew no it doesn't exist!? It mae not be da future of this universe, butt it could be the future for an otter. How do you know – it cod even be the future for dis one! I am your daughter." Musa gasped. Melodia chucked mercilessly. "Finally, you feal the fear!"
"Yeah, I'm afraid of your grammar!" Musa snapped. "Aaaand, I feel a slight tinge of fear for my future parenting skills because, girl, you must've learned this disregard for the English language from someone!" Melodia growled.
"Pay attention to me! I just revealed that I am you're daughter!"
Roxy snickered from the ground.
"Luke, I am your father!" she mocked. Bloom huffed and rolled her eyes.
"That's the number one most quoted line of all times, but it's not even correct! It's-"
"Girls, not the time!" Mrs. Faragonda snapped. The Earth girls fell silent before a Star Wars cross over could happen.
"If you're from the future, how is it possible that Nabu is still alive?! He's gone!" Melodia chuckled at Musa's confusion.
"I guess you never finished the buk! There's a reason why Nabu had cum back to life!" Riven rolled his eyes. "Ya'll never know now!"
"Man, now you use 'ya'll'!" Riven huffed. "That's not even correct…" Melodia ignored him.
"Without the power of my magix, that book would not exist!" She waved her hand and the burning book turned to ash. She smirked. "To bad, huh? It would of been nice to no my grandmother!"
Silence filled the air as the idea sunk into Musa's head.
"Great, here we go," Stella muttered.
"Grandmother?" Musa gasped. Melodia nodded, a sly grin growing.
"That book contained a spell to bringing back to dead!" Melodia chucked. "Oh well!" Melodia let one of her powerful attacks fly. It hit square in Musa's back. Her eyes rolled into her head and she fell to the ground, landing beside the book, unmoving. "Oops!"
"MUSA!" All heads turned to Riven after his call. Without realizing it, his legs carried him over to his fallen partner. He picked her off of the ground and held her to his chest. Tears threatened to escape. That stupid book had turned him into a weeping mess. "No, Musa, no. Please, don't go." He let out a broken sob. He never really considered her dying before. Sure, they fought and they were off-and-on, but he never really considered his life without her. He knew she would always be there for him.
Now, her lifeless body lay in his lap.
Mirta was stunned.
"Dang," she muttered. "This book really screwed with our heads." Amaryl stifled a laugh.
"I know, right? Riven – crying?" They both turned to each other and giggled. Stella elbowed them.
"Lord Darkar, now is not the time!" They didn't even have enough time to gasp before Riven dramatically looked to the sky and yelled.
"Oops, sorry, daddy!" Melodia let out a girlish laugh. "I guess that book wasn't the future, after all!" Riven paid no attention to his daughter in the air. All he cared about was the girl in his arms. There was still no movement. The field was silent, except for Melodia laughing wildly in the air. "I guess I'm the most powerful of all, huh!" She bragged.
Riven leaned down and pressed a soft kiss to Musa's forehead. A few moments passed, Riven's heart breaking further with each second.
"Please, Musa."
Her eyes snapped open and she sucked in a deep breath of air. Riven let out a breath of air he was holding. Their eyes locked.
Roxy was getting teary-eyed looking at the couple. She could practically hear the violins playing in the background.
"Riv…"
"I thought I lost you," he choked. Musa shook her head, too weak for words. Their lips met in a passionate kiss. Melodia let out an infuriated cry.
"NO!" Riven and Musa broke apart. He looked up to see their daughter glowing red. She was flying towards them at intense speeds. He pulled Musa closer to his chest and wrapped his body around hers protectively.
Nothing happened.
A painstaking moment passed, but pain never hit them. Riven looked up to see nothing in the air. He looked around the field, but he couldn't see her.
Melodia was gone. They were all safe.
"I love you," Musa whispered. A smile spread across Riven's face.
Melodia was gone. They were safe. Musa loved him. Life was never so good. They swooped together to share another kiss.
It was a perfectly, sweet and intimate moment.
…
Until Roxy couldn't fight the urge to sing The Lion King.
"Caaaaaan youuuuuuu feeeeeeeeeel the loooooooove tonight? The peace the evening briiiiiiiiiiiings!" She sang. The group groaned. Musa and Riven broke apart for Musa to smile at her friend. "The woooooorld, for once, in perfect harmony, With all its living things!"
"I love you," Riven whispered. Musa turned and faced him, ignoring their friends.
"Can you feel the love tonight?!"
Alright, this chapter was just so cheesy! It almost felt like I was writing "My Melody", not the actual reality! Hopefully it kind of conveyed how the book has impacted their lives and burned their brain cells lol.
Speaking of the ending, as requested back in August 2015 by BlackAndCrimsonDreamer - I included some lyrics to "Can You Feel The Love Tonight" from the Lion King! I've always loved the idea of sappy Roxy breaking out again! Thanks to BlackAndCrimsonDreamer for the idea.
Only two chapter to go! The next one will be the conclusion and the one after that is the epilogue! Yay, so close to being done!
