She actually said yes.

Daryl couldn't believe it, especially after the whole Jared thing. He knew that he was asking her to take a big step, but it didn't hurt to try. Both of them slept soundlessly that night, with her head on his chest and an arm draped over his stomach. She liked sleeping in that position; it allowed her to feel and hear his heartbeat. His favorite position was lying against her back with arm around her and his hand on her stomach - that way he knew she was safe.

The morning light lit up the whole cellblock. Ellie suddenly jerked and woke up. She lifted her head when she noticed that her arm wasn't around Daryl anymore; instead, it was around his pillow and he wasn't there. Then she felt something hit her face. She ripped it off and it was only her hoodie. She sat up and just as she thought, she saw Daryl howling with laughter while getting dressed. Ellie threw it back at him with a small giggle.

"Har har. Funny," she remarked and got up. She bent over and reached for her bag of clothes. She grabbed her black knitted sweater and light blue jeans. She put her jeans on and as she replaced her hoodie with her sweater, she watched Daryl put his shirt on. She crept up behind him and wrapped her arms around him, surprising him a bit. He turned around and caught her lips with his as a morning kiss. He could feel her smile with his lips, then they broke apart for air. Ellie buttoned up his shirt for him and as she was doing so, she couldn't stop herself from feeling his stomach. She looked up at him and smiled before holding up her hand and showing him the ring on her finger. "We need to discuss this."

Daryl nodded and stepped back. "As you wish, Missus Elizabeth Dixon." Ellie giggled and turned around to make the bed. Daryl then sat down on it. "You, me – married. Ain't much to talk 'bout."

Ellie sat down beside him and nodded. "If that's how you feel. When's it gonna happen though? Sure, my dad would probably just marry us, but when?" she asked, fiddling with her ring.

Daryl sighed and moved closer to her. "You jus' gotta tell me when you're ready, Ellie. I ain't gonna rush things for you."

Ellie smiled and nodded. She put her head on his shoulder and intertwined her fingers with his. "You're so good to me," she whispered. He turned his head and kissed her once more before they headed down to breakfast.

The day went quickly. Daryl and Ellie told everyone the news at breakfast and sure enough, Hershel agreed to marry them whenever they were ready. After breakfast, Ellie took Judith from Rick so that he, Hershel and Carl could farm. She didn't mind though; she'd rather look after Judy than do hard, physical work.

A few weeks passed and Daryl and Ellie got married. The ceremony wasn't much; it was just the two of them, Hershel and whoever wanted to see, standing in the middle of the prison field. Daryl hadn't even bothered to clean up; he arrived in his everyday ripped brown jeans, one of his shirts and of course; his leather angle-winged vest. His hair was as messy as ever and there were oil stains on his face from cleaning his motorcycle. Ellie didn't look any better; she wore her normal black jeans, a navy knitted sweater and black hiking boots. Her hair was down, touching her back from the lack of haircuts. Daryl even rubbed some of the oil on her face and clothes to make her 'look more suitable', like he said. When they were done, they went back to work.

They day they got married was also the day both of them decided to accompany Michonne on her search for the Governor. He wanted revenge for Merle and what he did to Ellie, while she wanted him to pay for hurting her like he did. Instead of taking the horse though, the three of them took a car.

They went out every day looking for the monster and after 8 months of searching, Daryl and Ellie dropped out, leaving Michonne by herself. They tried to convince her to stay too, but she wouldn't hear it and instead just took her horse, Flame out.

Everything went well from there. It was like they actually created a life for themselves at the prison.

One morning, Ellie woke up before Daryl. She rolled over and tickled his face with the tips of her hair until he woke up with a sneeze. She sat up and laughed while he yawned and stretched.

"Think you're funny, huh?" he asked sarcastically as he sat up too, exposing his bare chest. She put her chin on his shoulder and kissed his neck instead of saying good morning. "Well good mornin'," he purred, making her snort. He caught her lips with his and her hand played with his hair. They broke apart and she climbed over him to get out of bed first.

"Don't get any ideas, now," she said when she finally got off. Daryl smirked and watched her get dressed. "C'mon lazy ass. Rise 'n shine!" she told him and clapped her hands. He let out a groan and reluctantly got up and got dressed, too. Once they were both done, they went down for breakfast. Daryl and Ellie were both equally surprised when everybody greeted them and addressed them as 'Mr. and Mrs. Dixon'. They got to Carol, who was serving the food and greeted her before Patrick came up to them.

"That deer you brought back was a real treat, Mr. Dixon. It would be an honor to shake your hand, sir," he said and held out his hand. Daryl looked at Carol, then at Ellie, who nudged him with her elbow. He sighed and licked his fingers before shaking the young man's hand. Once they were done, Carol showed Ellie and Daryl the group of geeks that were hanging around the prison fence. Maggie, Glenn, Tyreese, Sasha and Karen could be seen, killing them through the fence while Hershel, Carl and Rick, who was cradling Judy, were farming. Daryl and Ellie acknowledged the issue and when they were done eating, they both went down to help with the prison fence.

It wasn't long until they cleared the section and just then, Michonne came back from her trip. Ellie, Carl and Rick immediately went to welcome her back while Daryl, Glenn, Hershel, Carol and Sasha had a council meeting. It was decided that a supply run had been long overdue and that Glenn, Daryl, Sasha, Tyreese, Zach, Michonne and Bob would have to make a run. At first, Maggie insisted that she tag along, but Glenn convinced her to stay behind with Ellie, who didn't go either. Ellie didn't want Daryl to go at first, but he promised her that he'd bring her something which was enough convincing.

As they were loading the cars, Ellie snuck up behind Daryl, who was wiping his motorcycle. She wrapped her arms around him and rested her head on his back. "Be careful," she told him and let go. He turned around and kissed her. "You better be back soon or else, Daryl Dixon – you won't get any tonight," she teased. Daryl flashed her a cocky grin.

"It's like a fucking romance novel!" Zach remarked as he walked past the two. (AN : Har har get it? Because it actually is a romance novel)

They ignored him and Ellie just turned around to walk away. "See you later!" she yelled as she walked away.

Daryl sighed and shook his head before turning to Sasha and Glenn. "You heard 'er. Let's move; or else I ain't gettin' any. C'mon!" he urged them. Glenn rolled his eyes and kissed Maggie goodbye. Both Greene sisters watched them leave before returning to their duties.

When they returned, things were tense; Zach hadn't made it. Daryl was slightly surprised that Ellie wasn't waiting for him, so he just went up to their cell. He sat down on the bed and buried his face is his hands. He sat like that for a while, thinking about Zach and what a good kid he was.

Shortly after, he started hearing the faint sound of someone singing. The voice was coming closer and getting louder. He didn't even lift his head. The voice stopped singing and talking. "There you go, sweetheart. Good night," it cooed. Ellie. The next thing he heard was footsteps. Ellie's footsteps. She finally got to their cell and was shocked to see Daryl looking so down. She immediately climbed onto the bed and went behind him. Like earlier on, she wrapped her arms around him and put her head on his back.

"You okay?" she whispered. He didn't answer. "Daryl? Darlin' are you okay?" Darlin'. Why did she have to call him that? It sent shivers down his back whenever she said that word, especially to him. He loved it, though, but that was the issue. He'd never pictured himself as a 'darling', 'honey', 'baby' or 'sweetie'. It was always 'you wuss' or 'pussy'.

He lifted his head slightly. "We lost Zach today."

Ellie gasped. Zach? The nice kid? The one who always teased Daryl because of the nicknames she gave him? She didn't really know him, but she could tell that his death really got to Daryl. She took a deep breath and hugged Daryl even tighter. "Oh, Daryl. I'm sorry," she whispered and kissed his back.

"He was a good kid, Ellie. Shouldn't have let 'em go." Typical Daryl – always blaming himself. "He'd – He'd still be here if I jus' told 'im to stay 'ere."

Ellie shook her head and moved next to him. She lifted his chin up with her hand and looked into his eyes. "Daryl Dixon. You gotta stop blamin' yourself for everythin'. It was 'is decision to go today, not yours – look at me – It wasn't your fault. It wasn't anyone's fault, you hear me?" He sighed and nodded. Ellie smiled slightly. "Good."

He pulled her into an embrace and closed his eyes as he buried his face into her neck, inhaling her scent. "Jus' tired of loosin' people, that's all," he mumbled.

She stroked his head. "I know, darlin'."

There it was again; those damn goose bumps again.
