I own nothing, sigh.
July 26: One Thousand Promises
What could he do but give her a little taste of her homeland. He had taken her away as kind of a trophy long before falling in love with her. She has been in her native tongue, a geisha, and a real one at that. He had, by mistake, became her danna or patron by paying everything off on her behalf. As a linguist in the Army he knew their language but not most of their customs. Once the war started to whine down he had asked her to go back to the states with him. It was hard for her to work like a real geisha when there were "geesha girls" everywhere, so she said yes. We have been married for 20 years now and I have made enough money to get us back to Japan. It will be worth seeing her joy when I show her our one way tickets. Phoebe will get a chance to see the changes that has happened since she was last there. I also know to be ready for the other side of things like the changes and knowing what is loss to the culture. I, Gerald Johnson, will see her side of a life that she never got to finish. This is the last promise of the one thousand promises I made to her on our wedding night and I'm glad I was able to fulfill it all for her.
This little prompt has kept me from finishing the entire thing from two years ago but I did it. Have yourself an adventure.
