3am
Santana jumped awake to use the bathroom, immediately noticing Brittany wasnt in bed with her. She trotted to the bathroom with a small, confused frown while recanting the previous evening in her head. After going to do some rehearsing in her room Santana took a long hot bath where she started a new book she'd been wanting to read for a few weeks. She assumed Brittany would come to bed with her after tucking in Kenadee and laying with her for a little bit but sighed when she didnt see her girlfriend once again returning to the bedroom. After climbing back in bed she laid down for a moment before deciding to go check on on Kenadee, and see if Brittany was in bed with her. She padded through the penthouse, stopping in Brittany's room and noticing it was empty, she then went to Kenadee's room and smled at the little blonde fast asleep, hugging a teddy bear tightly. She kissed her gently on the forehead and rubbed her back, pulling her blanket a little higher on her and rubbing her back.
"Sweet dreams." She whispered before smiling at the letter K nightlight Brittany bought for her and leaving the room quietly.
"Where the hell is she?" She mumbled to herself, pulling down her tshirt and yawning as she walked to living room, she saw Brittany sitting on the floor in front of the window, the curtains pulled back letting the night sky in. "Brittany, are you okay?" She asked walking a little closer.
"No." Brittany shook her head, but kept her eyes firmly forward and up as she looked out the window into the sky.
Santana walked quickly over to her and sat down next to her, their thighs touching, as she wrapped her arm around Brittany, the blonde leaning into her embrace and resting her head on her shoulder. "Talk to me, baby, what's wrong?"
"I made amends with my parents being out of my life, I accepted it, and just vowed that I would be a way better mom to Kenadee." Brittany started, wrapped her arms around Santana and resting on her chest when Santana moved closer and slid Brittany on her lap, hugging her tightly. "Why is she contacting me? She's just trying to get in my head."
Santana cleared her throat while rubbing Brittany's arm soothingly. "Do you honestly think that your mom doesnt miss you? Or want to maybe meet K?"
"When I told her I was homeless, she hung up on me Santana, she doesnt care, only cares now because one of her friends saw our picture in a magainze or something, and she wants something from me." Brittany shook her head. "Trust me, I know my mom, everything has always been about appearances with her, this is no different."
Exhaling softly Santana didn't reply, but hugged Brittany tighter, pressing her lips to the top of her forehead. "It's late, why dont we get some sleep?"
"Okay." Brittany stood up first and allowed Santana to lead her down the hall to the bedrooms, stopping in front of Brittany's room.
"Do you want to be alone?" Santana asked, glancing at Brittany's door.
"I think so, sorry, I just need to think."
"It's okay." Santana smiled assuringly. "Thanks for letting me walk you home." She teased before kissing her girlfriend on the cheek. "Love you baby, get some rest." She winked before heading down the hall to her room, Brittany watching her walk in before walking in her own room and laying in bed, staring up at the ceiling, her mind racing.
7am
"You are so silly." Santana laughed as Kenadee danced around the kitchen, holding up two orange slices over her eyes. She picked up two herself and began to dance around with the little blonde, both laughing loudly before Santana picked her up and kissed her on the cheek. "Thanks for helping me make breakfast, you're the best helper ever."
Kenadee immediately blushed. "Thanks for me helping Miss S'tana." She whispered shyly.
"You're welcome, honey." She smiled setting her on the counter and handing Kenadee a piece of pineapple. "I was thinking, you dont have to be so formal and call me Miss Santana anymore." She told her, rubbing her little legs that were swinging slowly, the little blonde furrowed her eyebrows and began to suck on her pineapple. "Since I'm special friends with your momma, and we are totally best friends we should be less formal."
"Miss S'tana, what's formal?" Kenadee asked.
Santana laughed softly. "Ummm, it means we should have fun nicknames like best friends do. I think Santana is kind of hard for you to say."
"I say S'tana." Kenadee frowned before giggling when Santana couldnt hold her laughter in and started to laugh.
"Yes you do, but how about you call me Sanny, is that easier for you to say?" Santana asked. "It'll be our super special nickname."
Kenadee smiled brightly. "I call you Sanny?"
"Yep." Santana smiled holding up her hand for a high five which Kenadee quickly did. "Let's finish breakfast for your momma." She handed Kenadee the pancake batter so she could continue to stir it.
"Sanny?" Kenadee said slowly before smiling and blushing.
"Yes?" Santana winked, laying bacon in a skillet.
"What you call me?" She asked curiously.
"Hmmmm, well your momma calls you K." Santana stated, while thinking. "How about you let me think about what your special name will be."
"Okay." Kenadee smiled as Santana poured milk in the bowl and handed her the bowl back.
The two cooked quickly while singing the alphabet song, both in English and Spanish, which Santana was teaching her. They were setting up the breakfast platter together, Santana letting Kenadee pick where everything went on the tray. They were putting orange juice on the tray when Brittany walked in the kitchen and cleared her throat softly, causing Kenadee to look up.
"Sanny! Help!" She laughed, reaching her little arms up so Santana could lift her off the counter.
Santana winked at Brittany and quickly, smiling as Kenadee sprinted over to Brittany, jumping in her mother's arms and hugging her tightly. "Good morning, baby." Santana smiled.
"Good morning." Brittany replied, locking eyes with her before kissing all over her daughter's face. "Did you sleep okay?"
Kenadee nodded and laid on Brittany's chest, exhaling in contentment, always happy and most relaxed in her mother's arms. "We make breakfast for you."
Brittany walked closer to Santana and pressed their lips together gently before kissing Santana on the forehead, causing both the Latina and Kenadee to blush. "Thanks but we need to be getting to Starbuck's to meet Felicity, you aren't even dressed yet." She started to interject but Santana shook her head at her.
"Relax, I'm already showered and just need to get dressed, and you gave K her bath last night, so she just needs to be dressed." Santana told her, watching as she fixed her daughter a plate and carried it over to her little table for her.
"I'm so nervous." Brittany sighed, leaning against the kitchen island.
Santana walked around the island and leaned on Brittany, hugging her tightly while locking eyes with her. "I know you are, did you sleep well last night?"
"Not really, sorry I didnt sleep with you, I really need your arms around me, but...I didnt want to bother you."
"You are never a bother, okay?" Santana frowned. "Eat up then we can get dressed and go, you can meet her at the Starbucks inside Barnes and Noble that's a few blocks away, Kenadee and I will read some books and you can still keep an eye on her and we will still be able to see you." She suggested with a smile. "It'll all work out, babe."
Santana waved to a few fans as she walked through Starbuck's, holding Kenadee's hand tightly, the little blonde looking all around as cameras began to flash when they walked through the lobby.
"They take your picture, Sanny?" Kenadee asked, looking up at the Latina.
"Yeah, pretty cool, huh?" Santana smiled, nodding to the bodyguard she had with her to giver her and Kenadee a little space before turning back and locking eyes with Brittany, who was walking a few paces behind the two.
Brittany smiled at how amazingly cute her daughter and Santana looked together, the two holding hands tightly as they made their way up to the children's book section. Kenadee turning and glancing at her mother, waving happily before tripping since she was walking sideways, Santana glancing down and catching her before she fell.
"Brittany! Is that you?!"
Brittany turned around and was quickly engulfed in a big hug that caused her body to tense initially before she relaxed and loosely hugged the person back. "Hey Felicity."
Felicity broke the embrace and stared at Brittany, taking it how much thinner she was the last time she saw her, and how much she had seemed to age in the face, but noticing she was still just as beautiful as when they were in highschool. "You look so different, yet the same." She said softly staring intently at her friend. "Come sit down, please."
Brittany nodded and stared at her before finally giving a genuine smile and following her over to a table off to the side and sitting down. Santana, who was on the second level of the store, was looking over while Kenadee looked for a book she wanted to read, and locked eyes with Brittany, who nodded slightly to her that she was okay. "It's good to see you Felicity."
"I can't stop staring at you, I'm sorry, but you look so amazing, a little thinner than normal, but still amazing." Felicity blushed. "I thought you were dead, Brittany..." She exhaled softly, a few tears pooling in her eyes.
"Thank you for trying to keep in contact. The other day when I replied was the first time I've been on Facebook in years, I was homeless for roughly a year." Brittany told her. "Living in and out of hotels and shelters, and the occasional McDonald's bathroom."
"You're not homeless anymore?" Felicity asked quickly. "You dont look homeless, you look really good, but if you are, come back to Jersey with me, you can stay with me, I can get you a job, I'm a head hunter, so it's what I do. I have a lot of contacts, so..."
"Are you in contact with Brent?" Brittany asked quickly.
"No, that asshole hung up on me and threatened me with a law suit for stalking him." Felicity replied, rolling her eyes. "You know that I never liked him."
Brittany nodded. "I remember, you are the only one that's been trying to contact me." She told her quietly.
Felicity shook her head. "We were best friends, I've been worried sick, but seeing you alive and well...I can finally sleep. I sleep the best last night after your message than I have in years."
Brittany blushed. "I'm okay Felicity, I'm warm at night, and able to eat three meals a day if I want. I have clear and hot water, clean clothes on my back."
"Do you need anything? Where are you staying?" Felicity asked. "I know you were on Facebook, but did you use a library or?"
"I'm staying with a friend, a really good friend that's been helping me get back on my feet." Brittany told her. "Enough about me...please." She shook her head. "Let's catch up on your life. I never though you would leave Arizona."
"That's a tiger and he orange." Kenadee smiled, leaning on the Santana's leg as they flipped through a book about animals.
"I thought it was a zebra?" Santana frowned, trying to hide her smile when Kenadee's eyes got wide and she stared at the page.
"No, he a tiger." She took her sternly. "Zebra is black and white, Sanny." Santana laughed as Kenadee began to page through the book looking for a zebra to show. "This is a zebra." She told her tapping the page, with a huge smile.
Santana squinted at the book and lifted it closer to her face, closing one eye and turning her head to the side. "Are you sure?"
"I'm sure, Sanny." Kenadee nodded and stared at the book. "Zebra here?"
Santana closed the book and reached for another one with different fish and birds and frowned. "In the book store? No, zebras dont live here." She shook her head. "How about we go to the zoo when it's a little warmer and you can see some zebras there."
"They sleep?" Kenadee asked, crawling in Santana's lap again and leaning back on her chest as the Latina held up the next book, Kenadee turning her head and sneezing.
"Bless you, honey." Santana frowned, gently feeling her neck and forehead for a fever. "Zebras go to sleep at night, just like you."
Kenadee looked up at her and smiled before leaning back on her chest and looked rough the book as Santana flipped the pages, her bodyguard standing close to them and shaking his head no to a number of people that walked by with cameras.
Santana looked around and waved at a few fans before whispering in Keandee's ear and turning the little blonde around on her lap so she was straddling her and her face wasn't shown. "Okay, you all have 1 minute to get all your pictures, only of me, none of my little best friend here."
A small crowd began to gather, taking pictures of her, Santana smiling for a few before rubbing Kenadee's back. "Are you okay?"
"I'm okay." Kenadee nodded against her chest and hugged her tightly.
"They are almost done okay?" She replied as the crowd started to get smaller, she started to hum softly, Kenadee joining in as best as she could, which made Santana's heart swell in a way it hadn't before. Once the crowd left Santana turned her around and realized she was fast asleep. "We got up pretty early huh." She laughed softly, standing up and looking over the ledge for Brittany, who was walking up to meet her at the same time.
"Hey, is she asleep?" Brittany asked.
Santana nodded. "She just fell asleep, i had her turn to hide her face because a small crowed started to form, and she doesnt need to be on someone's snapchat account, I started to hum and I think I lulled her to sleep."
"So cute." Brittany smiled, kissing her daughter on the cheek. "Are you ready to go?"
"Yeah." Santana replied, deciding to wait until Brittany was ready to talk about her friend, which was most likely when they got back to the penthouse. "can you grab those books, I want to get those for K."
Brittany picked up the stack of books looked over them. "I can buy them, why dont you head out to the car with her, I'll pay."
Santana raised an eyebrow. "You didnt tell your friend about K, did you?"
Brittany shook her head. "No."
"Gotcha." Santana nodded to her bodyguard and made her way down to car, getting in the backseat and unzipping Kenadee's jacket a little so she was more comfortable.
3pm
Kenadee was in her room watching a movie and playing with some stuffed animals when Brittany knocked on Santana's bedroom door. The Latina was taking a nap, but woke up from the knocking and assumed it was Kenadee, so she rubbed her eyes and tiredly walked to the door, prepared to kneel down to see what the little blonde needed when she saw it was Brittany.
"Since when do you knock?" She asked, turning to walk back to her bed, laying down right away.
"It was so quiet, I didn't know if you were busy." Brittany replied with a shrug.
"Busy sleeping." Santana laughed. "I was working on song lyrics and my eyes gave out on me."
Brittany climbed in bed and blushed when Santana moved to lay on her lap right away, looking up at her girlfriend. "What's up?"
"You look exhausted." Brittany frowned.
"Super tired, I didnt sleep the best last night, and K woke me up pretty early this morning, which is fine, but I'm crashing now." Santana yawned.
"I see she calls you Sanny now." Brittany raised an eyebrow.
Santana nodded. "While hearing her struggle to say Santana is the best thing ever, I dont want her calling me miss anymore. I mean we are dating, we're girlfriends, so I think she can call me something a little more relaxed, and the way she says Sanny is freakin adorable."
Brittany slid down to lay next to her girlfriend and lifted her chin to press their lips together. "Thank you for all the special care you've shown K, it means a lot to me, but it means the world to her."
"I love her, you know? She's such an awesome kid." Santana blushed. "I hope it's okay."
"It's perfectly fine." Brittany assured her. "It's cute, ad hearing her say it was sooo cute this morning." She smiled.
Santana propped herself up on her elbow and stared at Brittany. "How did your coffee with your friend go? You've been quiet about it, and I'm trying to be really respectful, but I'm nosey and just gotta know."
Brittany laughed. "It was good, she um, Felicity has been my best friend for so long, and I could tell she was super worried about me. She offered to give me a place to stay, to move me to Jersey with her and everything, help me find a job. Very genuine." She stated. "I assured her I was fine, that I was staying with a really good friend, and that I didnt need any help from her, just her friendship right now. I didnt want to tell her about, to protect you, and I dont want her to know about Kenadee just yet, if word somehow got back to Brent..."
"It's okay." Santana replied quickly. "Are you going to keep in contact with her?"
"Yes, we are going to have lunch next week when she's back in New York." Brittany replied shyly. "It's good to know that someone from my past, really did care enough about me to be worried, and she never gave up trying to contact me."
"I'm happy for you honey, I really am." Santana smiled, kissing her softly. "Now, what about your mom?"
"What about her?" Brittany shrugged, getting out bed and leaving the bedroom.
