Chapter Twenty Six: Promises worth Keeping

"Last time on Familiar Fairy. Nopeal and I were about to open the World Door when all of a sudden he went over to his four lackeys. I didn't make out what he said to them but it must've been serious. Three of them left while Marolin stayed. I wonder what he had them to do? After that, we started to open the World Door but I found the process to be a bit painful. No matter. I had to work through the pain and make the door open. After a bit, I saw the portal grow in size a bit. If I can just hold on a bit longer, I can finally return home."

Third Person P.O.V

After Evolin left to find Louise, only Skeeter and Seza remained in the room. Seza herself wasn't pleased by this and she's sure Void won't be pleased that one of the intruders escaped. To top it off, her opponent was a large annoying cat. "I'll make this quick. First I'll defeat then go after your friend."

Skeeter grinned at the woman. "Sorry to break it to ya babe but that's not going to happen. I'm more than enough for that like of you."

The woman scoffed at the fact. "I highly doubt that. What can overgrown furball like yourself can do?"

"This!" Skeeter jumped into the air and summoned his hand axes. He was above her and tried to strike Seza down. However that failed as his weapons just stopped completely. "What the?"

Seza laughed. "You should know better than to use metal weapons against me!" She moved her arm and Skeeter was pushed back until he slammed against a wall. Seza made a slight gesture and took his axes.

The large exceed pushed himself out the wall and saw his opponent levitating his weapons. "Hey those are mine! Give them back!"

Seza smiled at him. "If you wish so!" She made another gesture and sent the axes right back at Skeeter.

"Oh crap!" The large exceed jumped into the air to avoid his own axes. Seza wasn't going to end things that easily. She made another gesture and the axes changed directions. "Crap again!"

He flew around the room but it was useless. His weapons were set on target on him. Seza laughed at the scene. "How does it feel knowing your own weapons that you trust so much turned against you?"

Skeeter dodged his weapons attack again. "Not very good I'll tell you that." He continued to dodge his weapons attacks. A few of them were close calls. With another moved from Seza, both axes positioned on top of each separately. Both of them were sent straight at Skeeter. "Uh oh…" As both of them were near the exceed, he suddenly vanished and both missed him. Seza didn't understand how the cat managed to avoid the attack. "Man that was close. I think I lost two of my lives right there." Seza was surprised to hear the more squeaky voice of her opponent. Skeeter was now in his smaller form and breathed a sigh of relief. A few seconds late and he would've been in three pieces. "Nice try babe but the parlor tricks stop here!" He grew in size again.

Seza didn't buy what he said. "Is that so?" She made another gesture and the axes were back. Skeeter wasn't worried as he had a plan. He charged head first straight as his opponent. "You think by attacking me directly you'll win?" She pulled her arms down and the axes quickly followed the large exceed.

Skeeter chuckled. "Guess we'll see and find out!" He was already close to Seza and his weapons were just as close. Just as Skeeter was at striking range, he suddenly disappeared and his axes were now headed toward her. Seza's fear of weapons kicked in and moved her arms on either side to separate the attack to each side of the platform she was standing. Seza dodged that bullet but she didn't see the next one coming. Skeeter reappeared behind her and dealt a powerful blow to her back. "First strike!" The attack sent Seza across the room and crashed into the wall. Skeeter laughed at the success of his attack. He grabbed his two axes. "Ok so metal weapons are a bad idea to use on you. I'll make a note of that next time." He made his weapons disappear.

Seza who was still feeling the brunt of the sneak attack came out of the wall and turned to face the large exceed. She saw that the axes were gone. "You'll regret that you damn fleabag."

Skeeter stared at his opponent. "Maybe but not today. I still have something to live up to and I aim to keep it!"

Purple orbs formed in Seza's hands. "Oh really? Then I'll make sure you'll never fulfill it!" She sent multiple orbs at the exceed. He put his arms up to brace for the attack. The attacks hit and small explosions occurred. To Skeeter's surprise, they hurt a bit more than he thought. He suddenly felt wind swirling around him. The swirls around him were of the same color as the orbs. "Now…" Seza twisted her body. "Magnetic Vortex!" A vortex appeared and surrounded Skeeter. Seza heard him scream. She smiled as she knew the attack delivered massive damage. The vortex disappeared and Skeeter was injured from the attack. Seza circled her arms around as more orbs appeared in a circular fashion. "Magnetic Shower!" All of the orbs were sent straight at Skeeter. He couldn't avoid them in time so his only option was to endure the attacks once more. "How's that feel?! Hurts doesn't it!?" The attacks subsided and she inspected the damage inflicted so far. To her surprise, Skeeter was still standing. "You just don't quit do you?"

Despite the pain he was feeling, Skeeter laughed. "Like I said babe. I have a promise to keep and I aim to keep it." The exceed might be hurt but he was nowhere near being defeated.

Seza raised an eyebrow. "Promise?"

Skeeter positioned himself in a stance. "Yeah. The promise I made to Evolin!" He jumped off the platform and headed straight toward Seza. She readied herself for the attack but he disappeared again. This time she checked behind if he would attempt the same trick twice. Unfortunately for her, she was wrong. Skeeter struck from above and the impact managed to destroy the platform Seza was on.

She landed on the platform below while still feeling the pain coursing through her body after that attack. She stood up and saw the large exceed flying over her. "Do you really plan on fighting me with your bare hands?"

Skeeter held his hands. "I think you mean paws babe but yeah I do since I don't want my axes on my tail."

Seza growled to herself. Of all the battles she's been, she has never encountered, fought, and dealt with an opponent as the one she's fighting now. Even Seza couldn't believe how this situation was unfolding. She gritted her teeth. "If you think I'll lose to some overgrown cat, you're sadly mistaken!" Multiple purple swirls surrounded her. "Let's see if you can endure this! Psycho Magnetic!" Seza twisted her body and waves of her magnetic powers came straight at Skeeter. He didn't have much time to avoid the attack. I came in quickly and much too wide to dodge on either side. His only option was to endure the attack as best as he can. The attack managed to hit him and Skeeter's side of the room exploded. Seza took in satisfaction at the destruction. When the smoke cleared, she was surprise the large cat was still standing. "How are you still standing after all you been put through?"

That as a question Skeeter himself questioned. He laughed to himself. "Maybe fighting her bare paws wasn't such a good idea after all." He realized it was going to be a difficult fight but didn't count on his opponent to use magnet magic to control his axes so that was an additional disadvantage. He grinned at himself. "This broad is way stronger than I thought. My body's taking a beating. Still this is nothing compared to the all the sparing matches I had with Evolin." He remembered those fights well. Skeeter still remembered the pain of being hit by a fist made out of diamond.

F

A loud crash could be heard in a grassland. Skeeter was sent flying across until he hit the ground. He groaned as he stood up. "Come on is that all you have?" Skeeter saw Evolin walking up to him.

"Hey I'm the one who getting pummeled by diamond covered fists here!"

Evolin rolled her eyes. "Hey you're the one who asked to spare without your axes. Why do want to fight without them anyway?"

Skeeter patted his pants. "How else am I going to get stronger? We gotta be ready for anything right?"

The diamond dragon slayer smiled at her friend. "You're right but it'll take more than in increase in strength to get stronger."

The large exceed nodded in agreement. "You gotta have a reason for it and I have one reason for it. You still remember that promise we made right?"

Evolin crossed her arms under her breasts. "Of course. It's something I won't forget. Until it's fulfilled, we'll keep getting stronger." The two of them fist bumped while smiling at each other.

F

That's right. He still had a promise to live up to and until that's fulfilled, Skeeter won't fall. "Sorry to tell you this babe but I'm not falling anytime soon. I'm still keeping that promise to Evolin."

Seza remembered what he said to Marolin's sister. "Do you really think you'll be able to keep it? Look at you. A sorry look for a cat."

Skeeter laughed at her words. "That's the thing between Evolin and me. We always keep our promises. It's a pact we make knowing we'll see things through to the end and I'm not about to break the one I made to her recently!" They still had their original promise they made to each other. "Get ready babe. I'm about to go all out!"

Seza wasn't too sure about that. "You must be bluffing. You plan to be serious now even in the sorry state you're in?"

The large exceed laughed. "Guess we'll see about it that for ourselves won't we?" He started flying straight toward Seza.

She that it was a foolish way to attack. "You think a frontal attack will work?" purple orbs appeared in her hands again. "Magnetic Shower!" A storm of the orbs were headed straight toward Skeeter. He smiled at the attack. This time he dodged several of the orbs. Some of them hit him but that didn't stop Skeeter from closing in. As soon he was in range, the large exceed disappeared and reappeared right in front of Seza who was surprised by the sudden act. Skeeter struck her at her stomach. She was sent flying over back to the wall but Skeeter disappeared again and reappeared behind Seza. This time he struck her upwards into the room. The large exceed flew past Seza and again struck her from above. Seza crashed onto a platform below her. She struggled to stand up. The cat can really hit at full strength. Seza was panting as she looked up to see Skeeter. "How in the hell can you move at that speed?"

The large exceed laughed. "Just because I'm big doesn't mean I'm lacking the speed department." He placed his paw under his elbow. "Get ready babe. I'm about finish this in one strike!"

Seza was very doubtful about that. There was no way he was going to best her. That and would be the most embarrassing moment in her life if she lost to cat of all things. She gathered her magic in her hand. "Like you're going to be the one to end this. I'll end you here and now then I'll start going after that woman!"

Skeeter saw bright the magic was gathering in Seza's hand. She was about to unleash one final attack. He had to finish this fight and quick. "Try to remember that one thing Evolin taught you." The good thing about being pummeled by fist coated in diamond, the body begins to adjust on its own. "Try to focus all this power you got. Remember your reason, your promise for doing this." His muscles in his arms began to tighten.

Seza finished her charging her attack. "Time for you die you damn cat!" She threw both of her arms in front of Skeeter. "Magnetic Apocalypse!" A very large spiral of purple light came out from her hands. The platforms before it were easily destroyed. Well it wasn't the scariest thing Skeeter saw. That still belonged to Evolin. He pulled back his arm and charged straight in the center of the attack. Seza thought it was pure madness he was attempting to do that. "Is this animal insane?!"

Skeeter began to scream. "No matter what I'm facing...I'll charge in with no fear!" Despite all the pain he was feeling, he manage to get in close to Seza. "Maximum Crusher Fist!" Skeeter's attack struck Seza with a dynamic force behind his attack. Her attack immediately ceased and both of them broke through the platform she was standing on. That didn't from there. Both of them continued to fall and break the through all the platforms that were below them. Seza was feeling the full brunt of the attack in the front while her back was dealt with significant damage from all the platforms she was crashing into. This lasted until both of them hit the ground of the room. As soon as they crash, a small crater appeared beneath Seza. There she lay unconscious from Skeeter's attack. The large exceed breathed a sigh relief and separated from her. He took a few steps back and sat down. "Jeez…" Skeeter changed back into his smaller form. "I need a break from all of this." He groaned. "Damn that broad was tough but I stuck it out to the end."

Even though he wanted to rest, there was no time to do so. Skeeter was still on a mission. "Well…." His wings sprouted and lifted himself into the air. "Time to catch up Evolin." He flew over to the exit and entered it. The exceed saw two claw marks dragging along the hall. Skeeter smiled. "That's my girl! Hold on Evolin! Imma coming!" He flew into the hallway following the trial his friend left behind.

B

Evolin was running in the hallway for quite some time. Her fingers were still in the walls making drag marks for Skeeter to follow. While she was running, she couldn't help but think if they should've taken on that girl together. It would've been faster but Skeeter was insistent that she go on ahead. Evolin was also wondering if he was ok. "Evolin!" The diamond dragon slayer stopped running and looked back.

Out of the darkness came Skeeter. Evolin was more than glad to see her friend. He looked a bit roughed up. "Skeeter!" The exceed stopped in front of her. "Are you all right?"

Skeeter grinned at his friend. "Well aside from the beating I took from that broad and my own weapons chasing me around, yeah I feel pretty good. Thanks for leaving a trail for me to follow."

"No problem. Let's keep moving." The two of them starting running through the hall. Well Evolin was running, Skeeter was flying. While they were running, something was on Evolin's mind. "Hey Skeeter?"

"Yeah?"

"Did you really want to fight her because she was in the way or because she was really hot to you?" She knew all too well about his antics.

Skeeter laughed nervously. "Well…that doesn't matter now. I managed to keep my promise didn't I?"

Evolin smiled at that fact. "Yeah. Come on. We got to hurry." They were still on the clock. At least one of them had to reach Louise in time before that prediction came true. The scary fact to the both of them was that they didn't know how long they had before it comes true.
