Authors Note: So we are currently at the rehearsal dinner, Rory, Jess and Tristan are working on a fantastic wedding present for Luke and Lorelai. This chapter is a little shorter but I didn't want to put Jess's and Rory's speech in the same chapter so the next one will be long. I hope you enjoy and continue to read and review. :)

*The rehearsal dinner*

Rory's POV:

Being Lanes maid of honor was so much different than being mom's maid of honor. I mostly just had to help plan the after party, since her mother focused on both of the ceremonies. Whereas right now it is my job to make sure the ceremony goes smoothly and that grandma doesn't try to take control, and about other things. Sookie is some help but really only with the food related problems. I am glad that I have both Tristan and Jess to lean on because I really want everything to go as smoothly as possible for mom, she really deserves nothing but happiness tomorrow after everything she has given up and sacrificed to raise me, I can do this one thing for her. I see Jess walking towards me and I really don't like the look on his face.

"There's a problem"

"Don't say that. Don't tell me. No tell me, what is it?"

"Taylor."

"I should have guessed. I thought we finally got him completely on board?"

"Due to him being Taylor, he found another reason not to be."

"But for this to work we need him and him alone to support us."

"I know that, as much as it hurts me in ways I never thought possible, I know we need him."

"We can't deal with this right now, we need to start the speeches, we are the maid of honor and the best man afterall."

Tristan, who finally escaped Ms. Patty, walked up to us catching the tail end of our conversation

"What can't you handle right now?"

"Taylor."

"But it thought-"

"Yes but he found a way to still be taylor."

"And we have to deal with it but we don't have the time."

"Alright, leave him to me."

"Tristan are you sure?"

"If my charm and money doesn't work then I'll just get your grandfather to help me intimidate him."

"Haha you got yourself a good man here Gilmore. Let's go give our speeches, and hey dont screw this up Bible Boy."

"Oh man not you too."

"My mom got to you didn't she?"

"Come on, we have to go sit down."

I really wish I could go with Tristan and give Taylor a piece of my mind. I cannot believe that he has to make everything so difficult. Gah. I just need to let go for right now so I can focus on giving this speech for my mom. At least Jess is going first so I can collect myself while also coming up with a few creative ways to hurt Taylor later.

I watch as Jess rises and clinks the side of his glass and I marvel at his growth as a person and his being able to stand up for Luke like this.

"If I can have everyone's attention. I know that it surprises most of the people in this room that I'm standing up here today in one piece with only nice things to say. I can imagine all of the ways each of you thought I was going to fail in my life. There were, however, two people in this room, in this world, that knew I could succeed. One of them is one of my closest friends and someone I have always admired." He smiled in my direction and nodded as if everyone didn't already know it was me he was talking about. "And then there was Luke. Luke is the guy who takes in his sister's kid because she asks, even though he yells and smokes and steals gnomes names Pierpon, sorry for that Babette."

"It's okay Sugga!"

"Where was I? Oh yeah, Luke is the kind of person who yelled back, bought the patch and returns the gnome in the hopes that his punk nephew will snap out of the troubled kid mentality long enough to make something with himself. He is the guy who when the whole town told him I was a lost cause, he kept fighting for me. I couldn't have done anything I have accomplished without those two years where I made your life hell and you still kept trying to keep me afloat. I thank you and I couldn't be more happy for you that tomorrow you are going to marry Lorelai. She might not have had the same faith in me as her daughter and Luke did, in fact quite opposite actually, but she has always had that same kind of faith in Luke. Even when I first moved here she told me that Luke was a great guy, that he was special and that I was an incredibly lucky kid because he wanted to make things right for me, which I of course didn't really believe at that time. I can now admit, in front of this whole crazy town, that she was right. Lorelai I apologize for every bad conversation we've had and all those times I proved you right about me because you truly make my uncle happy and you are going to make one hell of an aunt, as you do a mother and a friend."

I have never seen him open up like that to anyone but me, you could tell he really thought about what he wanted to say to both Luke and mom. They both stood up and hugged him. You could really see the pride in Luke's face and the sincerity in my mom's as she told him she was never more glad to be wrong about something. And now it was my turn, but how does anyone follow that?

Author's Note: I hope you liked the speech and I promise the next chapter will reveal the mystery gift!
