Thank you for the amazing reviews. Let's see how the Leorai, Molly, and Raphael situation plays out. Enjoy!
(Leo's POV)
We were still in a stand off.
I was still waiting for it. All I heard in the was my heartbeat in my ears and Raph's heavy, angered breathing. But then he glanced at Molly and then back at me. He started to calm down but still looked enraged beyond belief.
He walked right up to me, glared at Karai, and then looked right back at me again.
If it were possible I'm pretty sure his glare alone would have burned a hole right through my skull. His look solidified into the most rigid death glare I have ever seen on Raph in my entire life, and that's saying something.
Then he pointed his finger at me and got nose to nose with me. I felt unable to make any sudden moves at this moment. I don't know why I couldn't. I'm still his older brother and leader, but I knew this was a special circumstance.
Sure even though I now know the truth about Karai and now know that she is not a threat, Raph still doesn't see her that way. He still sees her as the backstabber who left us to clean up her mess at the Worldwide Genome project all those years ago.
I was about to make some effort to explain when he said in the most stern and stonecold way possible, "I'll deal with you later."
He walked over to Molly and said, "C'mon Molly, we're going."
He put his arm around her shoulders to guide her out with him. Molly, who usually has to make some remark about everything, was still silent as if she was still trying to process something. That and she probably didn't want to countermand her father at this particular moment.
I slowly looked to Karai. Then she looked right back at me, I had no idea exactly what she was thinking.
Then we looked back at the tunnel where Raph and Molly left.
"Well, your brother still knows how to make a girl feel welcome." She remarks. I clicked my tongue on the roof of my mouth as I cross my arms before responding, "Some things never change."
She let out a slight laugh in indignation. It was silent between us for several moments.
Then I had a sneaking feeling in me that I just knew was going to happen.
"So, I assume this weekend has been ruined now?" I ask, hesitantly. I really wouldn't blame her if she wanted to leave, now that the whole mood between us that started this morning was ruined.
"No." "Huh?" I reply confused and shot my head to face her after her response. "Please Leo, do you honestly think that one of Raphael's explosions would put me off. If that were the case, I would have walked away from way too many fights. To be honest, I'm a little insulted that you think of me as some little woman who runs away from a fight. I thought you knew me better?" She teases with a smirk.
I slowly looked at her and smiled a little, "I hope you don't think that I see you that way and I think I know you well. Or… at least I'm hoping to know you more if you're still staying?" She coyly walked in front of me slightly demurely to tease me as she put her hands on my shoulders. "I see no reason to leave." She says, brushing her fingers over the hair on the back of my head.
I smiled at her and wrapped my arms around her waist. "So..." She drags on. "Well, we can jump into training if you want to? Or meditate or anything you want?" I offer and pull her closer against me.
"Well, I thought someone here promised breakfast and tea if I remember correctly." She teased with a smirk and I smiled as we both let out a laugh.
We just had breakfast and I was still surprised that she still wanted to stay here with me after what happened this morning. But that to me is also a good sign.
Also, sure Raphael is probably going to try to knock all my teeth out later, but at least he left me in peace on this for now. I just couldn't believe he actually left without making a huge scene in front of us.
Then again, after that last time both Molly and Mona got upset with him for freaking out over Kaito existing and him not knowing a thing about it, I think he probably just decided to bite my head off later on Monday during patrol when Molly is off on her route.
But I don't want to think about that now.
I still have Karai here with me until Monday morning and I'm going to make the most of it.
I brought over two cups and poured out some hot water for tea.
"So, I assume that girl was Raphael's daughter? Considering the uncanny resemblance and the fact you refer to her as your niece." She inquires.
I was surprised she brought it up, but this was what I was kind of hoping for in a way.
I want us to talk to know more about each other. Besides, since Karai is in a way like my unofficial fiance at this point and in a technical sense Molly's aunt in a way, I think she deserves to know about my extended family.
"Yes, Molly's Raph's daughter… I'm sorry about Molly's behavior initially this morning by the way. She's usually not like that. Sure Molly can be sharp tongued sometimes, but she's actually a sweet girl most of the time. She's actually more like her mother in personality." I say, trying to show my niece in a better light than what she displayed this morning.
"Mona Lisa?" Her face not showing any certain emotion, except some hint of sharpness.
I knew she probably remembered Mona being Raphael's girlfriend from back when Mona used to patrol with us. That and Molly does have aspects, especially her voice, in common with Mona.
When I call Mona I always have to make sure who I'm talking to, and I'm guessing Karai probably picked up on that detail and probably figured that Mona was Molly's mother.
"Yes, Mona was actually pregnant with Molly when she married my brother." I explain.
"Figures." Karai tried to get out quietly, almost passive aggressively, as she took a sip of her tea.
That reaction didn't surprise me entirely. It's no secret… even after 15 years, Mona and Karai still have a deep rooted and almost scornful dislike of each other. For me, it was always something I had to put up with. To put up with the fact that the woman I love and my best friend hate each other.
I decided to change the subject.
"Well, all my brothers are married actually." I start.
I went on to tell her about what happened to each of my brothers. Starting with Splinter leaving, then Raph, then Donnie, and then not shortly after Mikey. Once I got to Mikey, she almost couldn't believe it. Which is something everyone in our group still secretly can't believe entirely either.
Even though he's been married to Irma for 12 years now, it's just still hard to believe for me and everyone else. But Mikey did grow up in his own way, though he is still that same nice but extremely weird guy I grew up with.
Like I said though, it's not for me to judge and it's not fair to say. All my brother's, including Mikey, are good husbands and fathers and that's a fact.
"So your brothers are out on the surface and you're still down here." She points out again. "Well, yes. But, it's like I said, I don't really mind." I hint and grab her hand on the table, smiling.
I meant it. I actually don't mind still living down here, especially now.
Karai and I are able to be down here and go almost absolutely unnoticed by her father and, with the exception of this morning, be together without being scrutinized by my brothers.
Monday night
"Raph, cool down." I say, trying to calm him down. "Cool down?! COOL DOWN?! Are you kidding me?! You do know that you are totally insane." He spits at me.
"Raph, why do you even care?! The lair is mine now and that means I can invite whoever I want to be with me down there, including Karai." I defend sternly. "LEO! Are you even listening to yourself?! SHE'S THE FOOT?!" Raph shouts in my face, fuming.
I got nose to nose with him and furrowed my eyebrows together as I yelled, "RAPH, I love her! Things are different now!" "Yeah, I bet they are." He scoffs, his tone filled with snide sarcasm. "What's that supposed to mean?" I spit back, almost hostile.
"Okay man, it was one thing when we all had to tolerate both of you fooling around behind our backs in I don't even want to know where, but just because she comes back and crooks her little finger at you, you think it's just totally okay to take her to lair to fool around there with her?" He fires back poking me in the chest.
"She's the mother of my son and I love her. Of course, I want that with her." I say in defense.
"Dude, she's about as lovable as a damn snake! Ya know what? Fine. Congrats! You got some! But, what's gonna say she'll stop at just sleeping with you? What's gonna stop her from slithering in the sack with you the next time and finally finishing you off." Raph interjects.
"She'd never do that! She loves me too! You don't even know her." I retaliate.
"What's there to know?! She's nothing but lying, manipulative little witch who's just waiting for her chance to…" I gave him a swift kick to the head and knocked him down as I yelled, "DON'T CALL HER THAT!" I'd had enough of Raphael insulting her.
I thought Raph was going to fight me back when he just stood up, gave me a stern look, and said, "You know what? Whatever man. But just know that if I find you dead in your bed one day cuz of her, I warned ya." He says and looked like he was probably about to take off to find Molly on her route.
"Raph, she knows where Splinter is." I say.
I saw him freeze before robotically turning around to face me. "She… WHAT?!" He yells.
"She's known for months where he is and has sworn to me she will never tell Shredder." I elaborate. "You're an idiot." He says. "What makes me an idiot?! She gave me her word." I say.
"Of course she did. But what happens one day when she's feeling spiteful. You don't think she'll go to daddy with that info and receive endless praise for it." Raph spits back.
"She'd never do that now. You don't even know the first thing about her. She has honor." "Honor my ass. She's nothing but an evil, manipulative succubus trying to manipulate you man!" He yells back, still thinking Karai is only sleeping with me to get something she wants.
"No, she's not! She's practically on our side now!" I say, still defending Karai.
Raph was silent as we continued to stare each other down. He huffed as he walked away from me before glaring at me over his shoulder one more time before grunting and diving over the side.
I was alone.
I still don't care what Raph just spat at me when he was practically biting my head off for inviting Karai to the lair. He knows nothing about her. I don't care what anyone thinks, but I just have a sneaking feeling to do something from what I mentioned to Raphael.
I need to tell Splinter.
Well, looks like more and more characters are being pulled into this dynamic. Raphael still doesn't believe Leo that Karai is technically on their side. I hope you enjoyed the chapter and I would love to hear what you all thought. Have a nice day!
