TAMARA

Tamara stood outside his door her hand in the air. She hesitated on whether or not she should knock. What would she even say to him? She had never had someone die before Leiani. They were all suffering the loss of Leiani, even 2 weeks after the event.

Liam, seemed to be taking this harder than all of them. He had been locked in his room since it had happened, only letting those with updates as to who had done it in. None of the girls had talked to him since the ball.

Tamara hesitantly knocked on the heavy door. She heard papers shifting inside as she waited. Heavy footsteps sounded on the other side of the door, and Liam pulled it open. He looked… like a mess. His shirt was unbuttoned, as if he had just slipped it on, and behind him his bed was all messed up, she sheets pushed aside. So, he had just gotten out of bed. Tamara sighed mentally, seeing as it was almost four in the afternoon.

"What are you doing here?" Tamara was taken aback by his abruptness.

"I just wanted to check in on you. All of us are worried."

Liam sighed, looking back into his room, extremely annoyed.

"Well, I'm fine." He began to push the door closed, but Tamara held out a hand, holding the door open. Liam sighed as he looked down at her.

"Liam. You have to talk to someone. At least let us know how you are."

"Why does everyone always want something from me? My father wants me to work harder. Selena wants me to marry her. And you," The disdain in his voice was clear. "I'm not sure what you want. Hell, I'm not sure you know what you want. It's not my job to tell you." This time, when Liam shut the door, Tamara didn't try to stop him.

She turned around, leaning back upon his door, sinking down to the floor until she curled her knees into her chest.

For the first time since she had found out Leiani was dead, Tamara allowed herself to cry. Silent tears for her fallen friend. Silent tears for the destroyed prince on the other side of the door. Silent tears for herself, and all that she had been through, only to be brought here. Silent tears of pain from the whole that was starting to form in her heart. From the constant pain that all this had brought on.

LIAM

Liam heard her silent crying outside his door and the pit that was slowly swallowing his heart got bigger. Was he a monster for having yelled at her? He hadn't meant to. It had gotten out of hand. Tamara was kind and caring, but like everyone else, she wanted something from him.

He just wanted to sleep. He sat down against the door, pressing his head into the wooden carvings. It hurt, but he didn't mind.

"I just need time." He whispered.

EILEEN

Eileen headed into the medical wing, aware of all the eyes following her. All the selected had been trying to keep busy ever since it had happened.

She reported straight to the head doctor, hoping that if she did nothing unusual, those watching her would turn to more entertaining things.

Eileen looked around the head doctor's office finding it empty. She stepped inside and went to the desk, looking for any sort of clue as to where the doctor might be.

"Can I help you?" Eileen jumped as she turned around, her heart pounding loudly her chest. Leaning against the doorway with his arms crossed stood a young doctor, around his mid-20's, watching her, a playful smile upon his face. Eileen leaned in to read his name tag. Carter.

"I'm sorry, Dr. Carter. I was simply looking for Dr. Blazer." Carter looked her up and down before answering her, a flicker of doubt in his eyes.

"Dr. Blazer's is taking the day off to be with his family. I'm his replacement." He gave her another playful smile, pushing his hair back. "May I ask your name?"

Eileen smiled, "Eileen. I usually help out around the hospital wing."

"What a beautiful name. Oh, it's just Carter, by the way. No need for formalities. If you come with me, I have some patients that need help near bunk four."

Eileen followed him out of the room to a small cot in the corner.

"You're telling me you studied with the Dr. Reynolds! He's legendary back at my university." Eileen exclaimed, causing Carter to blush before nodding his head. The two were almost done cleaning up the wing, and had opted to do their rounds together, even if it took more time. As a result, they had been talking all day.

"So tell me, Eileen. Why are you here?"

"I told you already. I have to do a work study since I'm missing so much school."

"No, I meant at the palace. Are you here on business? Are your parents wealthy aristocrats? Were you at the ball?"

"Yes." Eileen answered. A glint lit up in his eye.

"So, how long will you be staying?" Eileen shrugged.

"Dr. Carter!" A maid ran up to him. "Please come! The head maid in the kitchen fell and we're afraid she broke her arm."

Carter gave Eileen a sympathetic look before turning around and leaving in the opposite direction. He stopped as he reached the heavy doors.

"You'll have to tell me more about your aristocrat parents tomorrow." He shouted before running once more, leaving Eileen to fully process what he had said.

"Wait, what?" Carter was long gone and didn't hear her shout. Had he misunderstood? She had said yes to whether or not she had been at the ball, not yes to the fact that she had aristocrat parents.

What a mess.
