Chapter 25: Bad Vibes
Willis
"Hello, Eden," Izzy said pleasantly, ignoring the younger girl's cryptic words. "It's nice to see you again. I thought you were going to wait for us by the gate?"
Eden raised her lavender eyebrows at Izzy's words, and leaping lightly to the ground from her perch, she said airily, "That was the original plan, but after Mikemon spotted Tentomon sneaking around here last night, I figured you would know where to find me."
"Wait, Mikemon was following me?" Tentomon asked, clearly startled. "Funny, I didn't notice her presence at all."
"Like I said, she can't be found unless she wants to be found," Eden replied, looking amused. "I figured you would tell Izzy about the entrance after you spotted it for yourself, so I decided to wait here instead. Impressive, isn't it?"
I don't know if I'd go quite that far...
Unable to hide his thoughts, Willis smiled in amusement and said, "No offense, but there's not much to look at."
"Not yet," Eden countered, giving him a mysterious smile. "Wait until you get inside. I promise you won't be disappointed."
"I must say, I'm rather curious about this entrance," Izzy interrupted, waving his hand at the small opening. "I know you said you discovered it in your travels the day before, but I felt the explanation was kind of vague. Would you mind elaborating a bit for me?"
"Well, I can't say it was entirely by accident," Eden said slowly, laughing softly. "It's true that Mikemon and I sort of stumbled upon it, but that's only because I had reason to visit Infinity Mountain in the first place. When I originally came to the Digital World, Azulongmon hinted that something waited for me beneath the mountain, which naturally caught my interest. He didn't say so outright, but I had the sense that if I was to find whatever it was he believed to be hidden down here, it would then become my duty to take you all there and show you."
"I see," Izzy murmured, looking pleased. "If that's true, then that means my theory is most likely correct."
"What theory?" Yolei asked, looking suspicious. "You told me all about Tentomon finding the entrance this morning in your message, but you never mentioned anything about a theory."
Unlike the lavender-haired Digidestined, Willis knew exactly what Izzy was talking about, and grabbing the computer expert's sleeve to catch the older boy's attention, he said, "You mean about Eden being a guide?"
"Exactly. I suspected from the beginning that Eden might have been chosen by the Digital World to act as our guide, only the fact that she had said she stumbled upon the entrance herself sort of put a hole in my theory."
"Right, because earlier you were talking as if Azulongmon would have known something about Infinity Mountain and the Digital World sending her as a guide. Only...you're saying you weren't entirely sure?"
"I suspected it then, and I was pretty sure I was right, but Eden has now confirmed it. I guess that fills up that gap in my theory quite nicely."
"What theory?" Cody asked, glancing curiously between the two of them.
Willis felt a momentary stab of panic, and quickly collecting himself, he said nonchalantly, "Oh, Izzy and I were just talking about the Digital World before you guys showed up in the computer room."
"Were you now," Eden said softly, coming closer to him. "Talking about me?"
Willis suddenly found himself staring into the American girl's lavender eyes, and giving the female Digidestined his best smile, he said, "But of course. What's not to talk about? We're all curious about you. And while I can't speak for the others, I know I'm eager to learn more about you."
"I'm sure you are," Eden murmured, touching his arm lightly before moving away again.
I sense that feeling again. Almost like a shadow...
"Anyways, the events leading up to the present now make a whole lot more sense if we assume Eden was sent as a guide," Izzy continued, ignoring the mysterious girl's flirtatious behaviour. "Azulongmon, having come to this same conclusion himself, decided to meet Eden in the Digital World to help send her down the rightful path that would eventually lead to us. Like Seermon, he clearly knows more about what's going on than we do, but as is the nature of those who protect the Digital World, they only tell us as much as we need to know in order to figure the truth out for ourselves."
"But why?" Patamon asked curiously, his long ears twitching as he perched atop T.K.'s golden head. "I've always wondered that. Why be so secretive about everything? Why not just tell us right out?"
"Prophecies are a tricky business," Izzy replied, shaking his head. "And much of what happens in the Digital World revolves around the prophecies of File Island. Tell us too much, and they risk a prophecy going unfulfilled, or it risks one being fulfilled that shouldn't come to pass. On the other side, if they tell us too little, they risk the same thing happening. When it comes to prophecies, you're always walking a tightrope, saying just enough to allow events to fall naturally into place."
"Sounds complicated," Veemon said, giving his partner a look.
"You're telling me," Davis groaned, clutching his head. "My brain hurts trying to figure it out."
Willis couldn't help laughing at the goggle-headed leader's expense, and winking, he said, "Nothing out of the ordinary then."
Pretty clever of Izzy to say all that without giving away his true feelings about Eden's actual usefulness as a guide. I'm impressed.
But that was Izzy. Always calm, cool, and collected. Sensible and logical about every theory that popped into his head. It was obvious the computer expert was giving Eden a chance to defend herself, and though Izzy seemed satisfied for now, Willis was sure there would be more questions to come from the computer expert.
It will be interesting to see how Eden responds...
"Was there ever any doubt about my story?" Eden asked, raising her eyebrows.
Her lavender gaze was very direct as she stared at Izzy, and looking a bit flustered, the computer expert said, "I just like to have all the facts, that's all."
That's funny...It's almost like she knows we don't trust her...
"Well, now that you know how I found the entrance, are we ready to go?" Eden asked, glancing briefly at T.K. before turning swiftly towards the gloomy interior of the cave.
"Lead the way," Cody said, nodding at the American female.
Willis quickly collected Terriermon and Lopmon from Kari, and ducking into the entrance, he was surprised by how dark it seemed. Eden hadn't been lying about the dim atmosphere, and stumbling over a loose stone, Davis shouted, "A little light would be nice! How are we supposed to tell where we're going?"
"Allow me to solve the problem," Eden said sweetly, her voice floating out of the darkness from somewhere up ahead.
A moment later there was a flash of light, and all of a sudden the narrow tunnel was lit by a dim violet glow. Up ahead, Willis could see the female Digidestined standing in a pool of lavender light, and with a start, he realized the glow was coming from her purple D-3.
"How are you doing that?" T.K. asked curiously, taking a hesitant step forward.
Willis frowned, and watching the golden-haired Digidestined's face in the dim light of the D-3, he suddenly felt very uneasy. Now that they had caught up to Eden, T.K. no longer seemed distracted. Strangely enough, the blond looked extremely alert, and his bright blue eyes were glued to Eden's face. It was like T.K. couldn't take his eyes off her, and there was something about the blond's expression that seemed a bit off.
And yet, even though he seems more awake, he's still not paying any attention to the rest of us. It's like he has eyes only for Eden...
"The Digivices were created using the light of the Digital World, were they not?" Eden asked, holding out her D-3 to T.K. "It's only natural then that they would be able to produce light to combat the darkness."
It was a vague answer, and glancing at Izzy, Willis could the see computer expert filing the information away for later. Whether or not it would prove to be useful, only time would tell, but in the meantime, he didn't feel as if the explanation was adequate.
"I guess that makes sense, but how are you able to do it at will?" T.K. asked, reaching out to touch the offered Digivice.
For reasons he couldn't understand, Willis suddenly had a terrible feeling that something bad was about to happen, and knowing instinctively that he couldn't let T.K. touch the purple D-3, he quickly strolled forward and grabbed the golden-haired Digidestined's arm, forcing his blond companion to step back from the glowing digital device.
Obviously startled, T.K. stumbled into him, and glancing up in surprise, as if only now realizing he was even there, the blond said, "What-"
"If we're going to find whatever it is you want to show us then we'd better do it quickly," Willis interrupted, giving the American girl his most flirtatious smile. "After all, we don't have a lot of time to waste, and I wouldn't want to miss out on the fun."
Eden stared at him for a long moment, her lavender eyes glittering strangely in the dim light of the Digivice, and turning her back on him, she said shortly, "The path leads straight ahead. Follow me."
"Way to be obvious, Willis," Terriermon muttered in his ear, looking amused.
Lopmon, who was perched on his other shoulder, whispered, "I don't think she liked what you said very much."
Willis nodded in agreement, and glancing over at Kari, who was giving him a meaningful look, he said slowly, "I don't think she did either."
I wonder if she's upset about Izzy's theory. If Azulongmon really did direct her towards Infinity Mountain then that means there's a chance Izzy's other theory about our celestial digimon could still be true. If Eden really was only sent as a guide, then I still have a chance with Kari and T.K. There might still be a connection between the celestial crests, and I'm sure Eden must have figured that out for herself by now, if she's as smart as I think she is. And if she has, then maybe that explains her behaviour. If she really does have an interest in T.K., then I can't see her liking the idea that T.K. might share a special connection with Kari or myself...
"Plus, I don't think she liked the way you pulled T.K. away from her," Terriermon added, seeing the look on his face.
"No kidding. She definitely didn't like that."
"Willis?"
Willis almost jumped at the light touch on his shoulder, and catching himself on the rough surface of the rock wall directly to his left, he turned to find himself staring into Ken's deep blue eyes. Somehow, the former Emperor had fallen into step beside him without making a sound, Wormmon held securely in the raven-haired Digidestined's arms, and letting out a small sigh of relief, he said, "Hey, Ken. Come to join me?"
"Not just him. I'm here, too," Cody interrupted, stepping suddenly out of the shadows with Armadillomon.
"You're worried about him," Ken said quietly, glancing up ahead at Davis and T.K., who were both walking with Eden at the front of the group.
Willis froze, and attempting to find his voice, he stammered, "W-wait, you guys noticed?"
"Of course I noticed," Cody replied, frowning in the darkness. "T.K. is my DNA partner, after all."
"I'm always keeping an eye on him," Armadillomon agreed, sticking close to Cody's side as he scanned the area for any signs of danger.
Ken placed a hand on Cody's shoulder to calm him, and gesturing that they should keep moving, the former Emperor said, "T.K. hasn't been himself since we got back from the Digital World last night. At first, I thought it might just be my imagination, but with the way he's been acting today..."
Willis forced himself to keep moving, and leaning close to Ken, he murmured, "How come you didn't say anything before when I talked to you?"
"I didn't think it was a good time to mention it," Ken replied, frowning slightly. "I can tell both you and Kari have noticed, though, and Yolei and Hawkmon are the same. They're also pretty worried about him."
"I also didn't say anything either because everybody seemed so focused on reaching Infinity Mountain," Cody added, glancing down at his partner, who nodded in agreement. "I've wanted to say something, though, ever since this morning."
"Yolei filled me in on what happened," Ken informed them, shaking his head. "From the sounds of it, T.K. was behaving very oddly this morning."
So I was right. The others have noticed T.K.'s behaviour. I'm sure Izzy and Davis are also worried, but no one seems to know what to do about it.
"Any idea why he's acting so strange all of a sudden?"
Ken shook his head, and exchanging a look with Cody, the former Emperor said dryly, "I think you might know more than we do."
"Really, you think?" Terriermon snorted, earning himself a disapproving look from Lopmon.
Willis held up his hands in defeat, and pulling both Ken and Cody closer, he whispered, "Listen, I don't know much more than you guys do at the moment, but I'm going to do my best to find out. I'll let everyone know if I discover anything useful, but until then...just keep an eye on T.K. for me. Sound good?"
Ken nodded slowly, and glancing over his shoulder at Kari, the former Emperor said, "I can do that, and you can be sure Yolei and Hawkmon will, as well. They're not sure what to make of T.K's behaviour either, but if we think of something, we'll let you know."
"I don't intend to take my eyes off T.K. for a second," Cody insisted, looking stubborn. "It's no secret how important he is to me, and I'm not just going to stand by and watch him drift away from us."
"I'm with Cody on this one," Armadillomon agreed.
"We're all worried about T.K. and want to help," Wormmon insisted, cuddling against Ken's chest.
"I know. Thanks, guys."
Ken gave him a brief smile before moving off to join Yolei and Hawkmon again, Cody and Armadillomon following behind, and as the six began to converse quietly with one another, Willis caught Yolei looking at him. Obviously Ken was giving her the short version of their conversation, and that was fine with him. The more people they had looking out for T.K., the better.
And it looks like Gatomon has similar ideas...
Willis could see the feline digimon talking with Patamon, who had joined her with Kari, and as the two conversed, he caught the obvious frown on Kari's pretty face. Making a mental note to remind himself to talk to Gatomon and Kari later, since he was curious to know how Patamon felt about T.K.'s odd behaviour, he quickly moved past Izzy and Tentomon to join the group at the front.
Catching sight of him, Davis said, "Dude, check this place out. There's really not much going on, is there? It's kind of boring."
"Boring is good," Veemon countered, walking just ahead of his partner. "I can do with boring once in a while."
"Better than being attacked!" Terriermon agreed, earning himself a small cry from Lopmon.
Tugging on the more vocal rabbit's ears, Willis scolded, "Stop scaring Lopmon like that, would you? We're trying to impress the ladies here, not turn them off."
Mikemon huffed softly at his remark, and walking next to Eden, the feline digimon said, "We still have a little ways to go. I hope you're prepared."
"Prepared for what?" T.K. asked, apparently not even noticing that Patamon was no longer with him anymore.
"You'll see," Eden said in a sing-song voice, her lavender eyes sparkling in the light from her Digivice. "It might answer some of your questions."
"Really?"
Willis hadn't failed to notice T.K.'s sharp look at his comment about the ladies, and stepping up to Eden's other side, he said cheerfully, "Sounds exciting. I hope I don't end up disappointed."
"You won't," Eden replied absently, her lavender eyes focused on T.K.
If I didn't know any better, I'd say she was snubbing me. Time to find out for sure if I'm right.
"There's nothing here, but this place feels...dark somehow," T.K. murmured, frowning as he walked next to the American female.
T.K. was getting a little too close to Eden for his liking, and uncertain of what to do, Willis chose to simply observe his golden-haired friend for the time being. Maybe if he watched T.K. long enough, a clue would reveal itself.
"Dude, that's because it is dark in here," Davis snorted from behind, having been pushed aside in favour of Eden.
Ignoring the goggle-headed leader, Eden watched T.K. with a rather strange expression on her face, and leaning close to the golden-haired Digidestined, she said suggestively, "You look a bit tired. Did you not sleep well last night?"
T.K. suddenly looked as if he had been slapped, and obviously shocked by the American girl's words, the blond flushed and said sharply, "What do you mean?"
"Dreams are a curious thing, aren't they?"
"What?" T.K. gasped, taking a step back from the lavender-haired Digidestined.
"Sometimes one can't help but wonder," Eden said softly, her lavender eyes glittering strangely in the darkness. "Often the line between real and imaginary can become blurred if we don't keep our wits about us. Or perhaps what we think is merely a figment of our imagination is actually a reality we have yet to face."
T.K. looked completely dumbstruck by the American female's words, and knowing the golden-haired Digidestined had in fact experienced a dream the night before, Willis immediately felt suspicious. How could Eden have known about what happened to T.K. during the night? Had she merely guessed correctly, or did the lavender-haired Digidestined know something they weren't aware of yet?
T.K. never told me what his dream was about, but the way Eden suddenly ask out of nowhere like that makes me wonder about her. Does she know what happened in T.K.'s dream? I have no idea how she could possibly know something like that, since T.K. wouldn't have had a chance to talk to her until now, but I still can't help feeling like there's something she's hiding from us...
"I don't understand," T.K. replied, unable to look away from the American girl. "What are you trying to say?"
Eden reached out to place a hand on the blond's arm, and once again Willis had a frightening premonition that if he allowed the American girl to touch T.K., it would have terrible consequences. Due to his unreasonable fear, he once again stepped between the two, his hand coming up to brush Eden's arm aside. "Say, Eden? Since you're from Denver, which school do you go to in the city?"
Beside him, he could sense T.K.'s obvious irritation, and taking the American girl's arm, he quickly pulled her away from the golden-haired Digidestined. As a result, T.K. had no choice but to walk behind them with Davis and Veemon, and raising her eyebrows at him, Eden said lightly, "Wondering if I'm close by?"
"Of course. If you're in the area, maybe we could meet up after school sometime. Once I get back from Japan, that is."
"That sounds nice," Lopmon said enthusiastically, giving him an encouraging smile.
"Right, nice," Terriermon muttered, glancing warily at Mikemon.
Like Eden, Mikemon was also gazing at T.K., her expression unreadable, and though Eden had responded favorably enough, Willis could sense her increasing annoyance. Though the lavender-haired girl was walking beside him, it was clear her attention was focused on T.K., and every so often she would glance back at the blond, who in turn had his eyes glued to Eden's face.
Not once so far had T.K. looked back to gaze at Kari, nor did he even look to wonder where his partner was, and ignoring the fact that Eden was clearly distracted, Willis said, "I go to Montbello High School. What about you?"
"George Washington High School," Eden said absently, without looking at him.
"Really? That's not too far away from my school. Do you live in the area?"
"Around there, yes."
Willis was intrigued, and stroking Terriermon's ears, he said casually, "Then we live pretty close to each other, too. I have to admit, I'm a bit surprised. I mean, considering we're not too far from each other, it's kind of strange I've never seen you in the area before."
Eden finally turned to look at him, and fixing him with her mesmerizing stare, she said lightly, "Maybe you have and you just didn't notice."
Well, isn't she the sassy type.
Not the least bit discouraged, Willis gave her another flirty smile, and winking, he said, "But maybe you noticed me?"
"You're certainly very forward," Mikemon interrupted, studying him curiously. "I must warn you. If you insist on pursuing my partner in such a manner, I may be forced to protect her from any unwanted advances."
"Ignore her," Eden said smoothly, laughing softly at the feline Digimon's overprotective behaviour. "As interesting as that might have been, I can't say I've ever seen you back in Denver. No...I think I would have remembered if I had. I did not recognize your face upon seeing you in the Digital World, and since I have no recollection of ever coming into contact with you before, I'm sure yesterday was our very first meeting."
"Shame. How could I have missed such a pretty face back home?"
Eden smiled, and turning once again to gaze at T.K., she murmured, "Yes, quite a shame."
T.K. hasn't taken his eyes off her, even for a moment. And if he's thinks I missed that blush on his face just now, then there's a lot he still needs to learn about me.
Despite the fact that it was clearly obvious Eden didn't want much to do with him, Willis leaned close and said suggestively in her ear, "So what do you think? A night out on the town sounds good, doesn't it? Just you and me?"
"I'll think about it," Eden said shortly, once again pulling away and turning her attention to the golden-haired Digidestined, who was now positively glaring at him.
Well, clearly I'm not wanted here...
Recognizing the fact that he had been dismissed, Willis discreetly fell behind to join Kari at the back of the group again. As soon as he was gone, T.K. immediately took his place next to Eden's side, and making a face, he said, "She sure knows how to hit a guy where it hurts."
"I take it your mission was unsuccessful?" Gatomon asked dryly, looking amused.
Willis nodded, and turning to Kari, who had clearly been watching the whole fiasco unfold, he said seriously, "As much as it hurts my pride, I suppose I have to admit defeat. I can definitely say she wanted nothing to do with me, and I'm sure you noticed the way her attention was entirely focused on T.K."
"She burned him pretty good," Terriermon agreed, earning himself an elbow in the ribs from Lopmon.
"So then she does have a special interest in T.K. after all," Kari said quietly, her dark eyes glittering with barely suppressed fear. "I saw the way she kept brushing you off for T.K."
Willis let out a deep sigh, and frowning at the gravel that crunched beneath their feet as they walked, he said, "Looks like it, yeah. She definitely wasn't interested in me. And as for T.K., well..."
"What is it?" Kari asked anxiously.
Willis knew he had to be careful with what he said, as he didn't want Kari to start thinking T.K. was attracted to Eden, and choosing his words wisely, he murmured, "From what I could tell, T.K. seems curious about her, and yet...he almost seems a bit afraid of her, too. It's weird, now that I actually think about it."
"Do you believe her story about where she lives in Denver and what school she goes to?" Lopmon asked curiously.
Willis thought about it for a moment, and scratching his pale blond hair, he said, "The fact that she answered so quickly does make her tale sound credible. It wasn't like she was struggling to make up a story in order to answer my questions. She clearly knows her stuff when it comes to Colorado and the city of Denver, so I can't say that anything about her reply struck me as odd."
"Maybe not, but T.K.'s behaviour is odd," Patamon interrupted, sounding morose.
Willis realized with a start that Patamon was sitting on Kari's head, and glancing down at Gatomon, he said, "I saw you guys talking. So, did you ask him?"
"She asked me about T.K., if that's what you mean," Patamon replied, anxiously twitching his ears. "He hasn't been himself since those Harpymon attacked us, and I'm really worried about him."
"So, you noticed it too then..."
"I've never seen him act this distant before," Patamon said sadly, clearly concerned for his partner's safety. "I've wanted to ask him about it, but I was afraid he wouldn't tell me."
"Which isn't like T.K. at all," Kari said, giving the little rookie's ears a sympathetic scratch.
"He's never kept stuff like this from me before," Patamon agreed, his ears drooping. "I don't understand what's going on."
Willis quickly turned to Kari, and growing serious, he said, "Maybe you should tell Patamon what we've been talking about lately."
Kari nodded, and quickly telling the little rookie about everything they had discussed since their last trip to the Digital World, she finished with their suspicions about Eden.
Patamon listened in wide-eyed silence, and once the female Digidestined was done, he said slowly, "Do you really think Eden could have that kind of effect on T.K.?"
Willis gestured at the golden-haired Digidestined, who was walking uncomfortably close to Eden, and letting out a soft snort, he said, "Look at him, Patamon. What do you think?"
Patamon watched the two for a moment, and shaking his head, the little rookie said, "I don't understand, though. T.K.'s usually really level-headed. It's unlike him to behave like that..."
I agree. Only problem is, I don't know what to do about it...
"So, since we can safely assume now that Eden does have a special interest in T.K., what exactly are we supposed to do about it?" Gatomon asked, as if reading his mind.
"I...I don't know," Kari mumbled, looking extremely unhappy.
Willis had to admit he wasn't all that happy himself, and quickly putting his arm around Kari's shoulders, he said, "I don't think there's much more we can learn for the time being, but let's think on it a bit and see if we can come up with something. There has to be a way to get T.K. talking, so why don't we concentrate on that first."
"Sounds good to me!" Terriermon agreed.
Lopmon nodded to show he understood, and leaping off of Kari's head, Patamon said, "I'll try. I better get back to T.K. If what you say is true about Eden, then I should be staying close and watching out for him. It's too bad, though. I thought she seemed pretty nice."
With that, Patamon quickly flew back over to T.K.'s side, and without his partner even noticing, the little rookie once again settled himself on the blond's head.
Since it looked as if Kari was immersed in her own troubled thoughts, Willis took a moment to study the narrow passageway a bit more closely, the dim glow from Eden's Digivice making it hard to see.
The tunnel itself wasn't particularly interesting, and though it was dark inside, he could tell that it seemed to stretch out for several miles beneath the base of Infinity Mountain. Several times they came across a section where the path would split, but despite the choice of passages, Eden carried on without any hesitation, making it clear she knew exactly where she was going. Thankfully, he wasn't prone to feelings of claustrophobia because not only was the tunnel narrow, the rocky ceiling was also quite low, making it seem as if they were stuck in some sort of endless network of catacombs. The path itself was made of a mix of dirt, stone, and gravel, and if he had to make a comparison, he would have said it looked like they were navigating an old mine. Thankfully, the rock walls looked sturdy enough, and the ceiling didn't appear as if it would cave in at any moment, but that was a small comfort compared to the sense of isolation that hung heavily in the air.
The more he thought about it, the more he felt uneasy, and as he glanced uncertainly over his shoulder, he could see the shadows cast from the light of Eden's D-3 dancing across the walls. For some reason, the dark shapes felt menacing to him, and if he hadn't known any better, he might have thought they were alive.
Well, the others have had experiences with shadows before, or at least I know Kari did. What if the same thing happens here and we end up in the World of Darkness?
Willis shuddered at the thought, and refusing to follow that line of thinking, he quickly joined Izzy and Tentomon in the centre of the group, making sure to take Kari and Gatomon with him. Wanting to distract himself, he turned to the computer expert and said, "Hey, Izzy? I just had a thought. Do you know if any of the other Digidestined received crests?"
"I thought of that myself," Izzy replied, smiling at him. "Last night, I took the liberty of sending out emails to the other international Digidestined to find out, but so far nobody else has gotten a crest. It seems like you and Eden are the only two."
Which does support Izzy's theories...
"I have a question," Kari asked quietly, glancing up ahead to make sure Eden and the others weren't listening. "If Eden really was sent as a guide, and her crest doesn't have any relation to the rest of our crests, why did Seermon send that poem to her?"
"You're talking about the prophecy Yolei received," Izzy said, also glancing at Eden. "Good question. I assume it's because as a guide, she would have needed to know the prophecy in order to help us."
"Makes sense, especially since it doesn't look as if Azulongmon is handing out crests to just anybody," Terriermon said, his ears perking up.
"So, what did the others have to say about Eden earlier?" Izzy asked, looking curious.
Willis quickly relayed the same information he had told Kari, and when he had finished, Izzy nodded and said, "I suspected as much. There's nothing outright suspicious about Eden, but I'm still curious about whether or not she experienced something in the human world that may have given the Digital World a reason to send her a Digivice."
"Well, why don't you ask her then?" Tentomon replied, hovering next to his partner's shoulder.
Izzy was studying T.K. curiously, and nodding slowly, the computer expert said, "I will. Just not yet."
"Why not?" Gatomon demanded, frowning at Izzy.
"I'd like a chance to observe her a bit more before I inquire any further."
"I was hoping we would have a chance to talk more in depth with the others about Eden, but so far we haven't had much luck," Kari said quietly, clearly disappointed. "Just the bit Willis managed to get out them earlier."
"We might still have our chance later," Izzy reassured her. "For now, let's just watch her movements and see if with can discern anything else of interest."
Willis was about to respond, but a sudden rush of commotion up ahead caught his attention. He could see Eden, T.K., Davis, Ken, Yolei, Cody, and their digimon crowded around what appeared to be a doorway that led into a large cavern, and sounding pleased with herself, Eden said, "We're here."
"What is that?" Yolei gasped, looking shocked.
Willis quickly made his way over to the crowd, and pushing his way through the tangle of bodies, his mouth fell open at the sight that greeted him. He had no idea what the meaning behind the object in the centre of the chamber was, but all of sudden his muscles tensed, and he felt his heart speed up.
Although he couldn't figure out its purpose, somehow he just knew the large monument was a bad omen.
An omen that would likely put them all in terrible danger.
