Lily Luna was led the hospital wing by Madame Wainscott who, acting under Headmaster Hollybeak's orders, prescribed the youngest Potter with bed rest after her ordeal at the Hogwarts Quidditch Pitch. The First Year fell asleep almost immediately once her head touched down upon the sanitary, white pillow that she had received upon being checked into the hospital wing only a few moments before.
The girl suspected that if she had been left alone to fall into unconsciousness she would have hardly had the ability to close her eyes for fear of falling into nightmares reflecting that which she had seen earlier at the Pitch. But, instead, she was blessed with the warm, comforting presence of her father who sat at her bedside watching over his daughter like some sort of paternal guardian angel.
So, instead of being filled with terrifying images of Chimeras and whirlwinds, Lily Luna Potter was greeted by a dream in which she was sitting in the Great Hall at the Slytherin Table.
Smiling, Lily dug her spoon into a steak and kidney pie and scooped out some of the delicious filling, bringing it up to her lips and testing the wonderful tasting liquid which felt so right in her mouth, warming her entire mind up almost instantly.
"Would you mind if I were to sit here?" someone asked from beside the redhead who hardly needed to look over, already recognising who the voice belonged to.
"Scorpius." Lily smiled up at the grey-eyed boy, "Of course I don't mind! I always love your company."
"Yes, as I do yours." Scorpius grinned back before sitting down across from Lily, his own steak and kidney pie suddenly fazing into appearance in the place setting in front of the Pureblood.
"Meat pie?" Scorpius poked one of his utensils into the crust of the pie that lay in front of him.
"Steak and kidney," Lily told him, "my favourite."
The grey-eyed boy's face pinched slightly and he sighed good-naturedly as he attempted to look unhappy with Lily's choice in nourishment.
"I have never been one for kidney in any of its many forms." He told her, a small smile still across his lips.
"All right," replied Lily Luna, the steak and kidney pie fazing, once again, out of her mind-reality. "Do you wish for me to think of something else for you to eat?"
"No thank you, Lily. But thank you." Scorpius said softly.
The two sat within Lily Luna's dream-world in silence for just a little while longer. Scorpius then grinned wider at his younger companion.
"What?" Lily asked as she caught his gaze.
"Thanks..."
"For what?" Lily wondered with a confused smile playing across her lips.
"For accepting my gift."
Lily smiled truly now, her eyes crinkling happily.
"Well, why wouldn't I?"
"I was actually under the impression that you hated me..." He said, eyes turned to the floor.
Lily then let her head fall back and, to Scorpius's surprise, she began to laugh.
"What?" He asked, "What is it?"
"I do hate you Scorpius. But, you are also one of the best people I know!" She then leaned forward, pushing her dishes slightly out of her way, "I am not really sure why, but there is no one I would rather share my dreams with."
Scorpius grinned sheepishly, "Hey Lily?"
"Yeah?"
"What happened today? On the Quidditch Pitch? After you we're left alone? Cass said..."
Lily sighed unhappily, her smile quickly turning itself around the other way as a crown graced her features.
"Let's not talk about this right now." She almost begged the grey-eyed boy who still sat across from her.
Scorpius looked at her as if he were about to refuse but then he let his shoulders go slack, defeated.
"Of course, whatever you wish."
Then a voice that sounded as if it came from miles away echoed through the dream-world.
"Miss Potter?" Said Madame Wainscott from the world of the waking, "You must wake up. The Headmaster is here to speak with you."
Lily looked over at Scorpius, her hazel eyes helplessly asking him if it were alright.
"Go." Scorpius urged her, and she did.
All that was left behind were some dishes still showing the remains of steak and kidney pie.
