Epilogue

Victor Dante sat at the 'Thirsty Cowboy', his favorite bar, drinking his favorite drink.

He was still puzzling the events from the recent days. He didn't know what or who or where, but he constantly had the feeling he had forgotten something. Something important.

He kept up hours at night thinking and even the long walks in Mexico, his favorite country, couldn't help him. So now he was sitting at his bar, at a table at the window. Enjoying the scenery and his little drink.

Perhaps it was his cowboy hat. He could swear he had a brown one, but it was lost some way. But he know had another one. Light brown with a white rand. But he still wondered where the old one was…

"Is this seat taken?"

The sudden voice startled Victor and brought him quickly out of his thoughts.

"Uhm, no. I don't think so." He said confused.

The person took a seat. Victor looked at him, and noticed that it was just a kid. He couldn't see how old but he was definably younger than him, and he was 13.

"Uhm, who are you again?" Victor asked. In his current state it wouldn't surprise him that he should've known that boy but simply forgot him.

"I am just someone passing through." The boy said.

Victor looked at him closely. He had sunglasses on and was dressed in a simple dark jeans with a dark blue turtleneck and some black shoes. Beside the fact that it was unusual clothes to wear in these parts with this temperature there was nothing unusual about this boy.

The boy took his sunglasses off and he revealed some unusual eyes: cerulean. Victor had never seen such eyes. Or did he?

"Are you sure we haven't met before?" Victor asked.

"No." The boy said. "Trust me, I would've remembered."

"Yea." Victor said, deciding he would leave the matter alone. "I would've probably remembered as well..."

He took a sip from his drink and a short silence broke out.

"So…" He said in an attempt to keep the conversation running. "What brings you to sunny Mexico?"

The boy smiled.

"I am looking for an old friend of mine."

Victor waited until the boy would continue, but he didn't.

"Well, can you tell me his name? I might know where he is."

"I doubt that." The boy said. "But it isn't important. I just came to see how he was doing. That's all."

"And how is he doing?" Victor asked.

"He is doing alright. Better then I'd hoped."

He then stood up and walked to the door.

Victor was confused by the whole conversation and quickly ran after him.

"Hey, wait a minute. How could you know that your friend was doing alright when you were looking for him?"

The boy walked outside and turned around to see Victor. Victor stood in the door opening.

"It was because I didn't find him that I know that he's doing fine." The boy said while smiling.

He then turned around and walked away.

Victor on the other hand was now more confused than ever. When he noticed the boy leaving he yelled at him.

"Hey. Hey! You never told me your name."

The boy turned around and smiled.

"No. I never did."

He then waved goodbye, placed his sunglass back on his nose and walked away.

Just when Victor wondered if he should follow the boy or not he felt someone tapping against his back. He turned around and saw a young girl.

She was a few years older than he was, and she had long blond hair in a ponytail. She had bright brown eyes and a dazzling smile.

Victor actually found her quite attractive.

"It seems that you are blocking the doorway." She said. "People can't go in or get out."

"Oh, pardon me." Victor said as he stepped outside so that the girl could pass. He even held the door open for her.

"A real gentlemen, eh? That's rare in these parts. Hi, I'm Elizabeth Johnson. What's yours?" She said as she lifted her hand.

Victor was a bit overwhelmed such a pretty girl gave interest in him.

"Elizabeth." He dreamy said. He didn't know why, but that name sounded so awfully familiar. Yet he was positive he never met her before. He would've definitely remembered that.

"I… uhm… I mean… Hi, I'm Victor Dante." He said a little nervous, but Elizabeth laughed.

"Nervous? For me? I'm flattered, Victor, but you shouldn't be." She said and Victor blushed a bit.

"C-can I invite you in? For a drink?" He hesitantly asked.

She smiled.

"I'd love to."

"Oh… No problem. Have a nice…" He was so certain that she would say 'no', especially because she just left the bar, that he didn't hear the 'yes'.

"Y-You said… yes?" He asked unsure.

"No, I said 'I'd love to', but that's a yes as well." Elizabeth smiled.

"G-great." He then coughed. "I mean: Great. Drinks are on me." He said, doing his best to sound a little less insecure.

Elizabeth laughed with his attempt, but didn't remark it.

"Let me pay the drinks, Victor. After all, my auntie is the owner of this bar."

"She is?" Victor said, interested.

"Yea, she won it during a bet…" Elizabeth started to tell. Both her and Victor walked back inside and took a seat on the same spot Victor said a few minutes ago with that mysterious boy, but Victor didn't pay any attention to that anymore.

A few miles from there James Wellington kept Victor under close observation through a 2x4 binocular.

He smiled at seeing Victor with that girl, which his men identified as former numbuh 158, better known as Elizabeth Johnson.

He observed closely and saw that they both had a great time. They could both laugh with each other and they were clearly attracted to each other. James could see that, even if he couldn't hear them.

He sighted as he placed his binocular back in his R.O.A.D.S.T.A.R.

"Sir, we have a visual on the target." Numbuh 206 said. "Shall we engage?"

"No." James said. "I have finished my observation and have reached a decision. Victor Dante, formerly numbuh 700, no longer poses a threat to the KND. I hereby end the surveillance we placed upon Victor. Is that clear?"

"Yes, sir." Numbuh 206 said.

James jumped in his vehicle and looked at the distant bar one last time.

And despite everything, he only felt happiness for Victor when he left Mexico behind.

End.

And there. It is finished. My first and own fanfic is a fact. I hope you all enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. Please review, I really appreciate your honest opinion, and thank you for your interest in my story.

Long was the path leading towards the end, and now that I am finally here I have learned that the end is merely the beginning...
