The Good Neighbor
Chapter 26
AN: I am so far behind with everything. Please forgive me for not writing soon. Really a bad case of writers block. Could not come up with any ideas. I even had this chapter almost written when I deleted it because it was garbage. Also the last chapter I posted got no reviews so I was not sure it was worth the extra work I am doing. Then an idea popped into my head. Please read and review this chapter. Also when I updated to Windows 10 I got locked out of my computer. Thank goodness I did not have to get a new one.
Disclaimer: I do not own any of their characters of NCIS. If I owned NCIS Gibbs would not have been shot at the end of Season 12 or we would not have had to wait 4 months to find out if he is ok.

Gibbs hung up the phone and turned to Sarah. "Feel better now."
"Always when I talk to those precious babies." Sarah turned to him. "You helped me. Now how can I help you?"
Gibbs smiled and pulled her closer. "Let's just sit here and hold each other. I bet it will help us both." Sarah smiled and sipped her tea. She knew he was right.

Gibbs and Sarah talked late into the night. Gibbs couldn't remember when he had talked so much. They talked about their kids, the team, his dad and John Wayne movies to relieve the tension. They laughed, they cried and they enjoyed the quiet time together. It was about 2:00 am when Jethro noticed Sarah was fighting keeping her eyes open and she had stifled several yawns. "Here" He patted the throw pillow he had put in his lap. "Lay down here. You're falling asleep sitting here."
"It is very late. We could table our discussions for tonight and continue over breakfast." Sarah smiled as she tried to conceal another yawn.
"Not ready to say good night." Gibbs replied "Would be tempted …"
"To snuggle together in one of the beds upstairs." Sarah finished. She always knew what she was thinking.
Gibbs smiled and shrugged his shoulders. "Have to be honest. I just don't want to be alone."
Sarah nodded. She lay down on pillow looking up at him. "I think this is safer than going upstairs. I trust you with my life. But Myron is still messing with my head on the togetherness stuff."
Gibbs smiled and leaned down and kissed her gently on the lips. "Now get comfortable and get some sleep. Wasn't thinking like that. Just didn't want to say good night. "
Sarah turned over on her side and mumbled "Of course you weren't. I knew you would understand. I love you." She fell asleep almost immediately. Gibbs pulled the blanket around her. Then taking her hand in his he lay his head back on the pillow behind his head.
"Someday Sarah you will put your other life behind you and trust me with everything," he thought. He gently ran his fingers through her hair. He closed his eyes hoping sleep would come quickly but doubting it would. He had too many things running through his head. His dad was part of it but mostly it was the lovely lady laying in his lap.

The team left Ducky's around eleven. Tony and Ziva turned left and headed toward Ziva's apartment. It had been decided that Tony was going with Ducky in the morning to Stillwater. Tim and Abby left together hand in hand. As Tim pulled his car out from in front of the house he turned to Abby. "I'm not ready to go home just yet. How about we download a movie and order a pizza."
Abby was laying her head on McGee's shoulder. "Sounds great. Not sure I want to be alone just yet either." They drove the rest of the way in silence with Abby comfortably laying her head on Tim's shoulder.
Tim parked his car next to Abby's car in the parking lot of her apartment building. Tim got out and came around to the passenger side and opened the door for Abby. Abby stretched as she got out of the car. Tim took her hand and they strolled toward the front door of the building. Tim held open the door for her and the couple walked silently toward the elevator.
The owner of Abby's building still had the old fashion idea that people wanted to listen to Barry Manilow or something like that as they rode to their floor. Abby always made a face when it started playing. Tim could not help but smile when she did. "One of these days you are going to convince him to play something a little more to your liking." Abby just shook her head as the elevator stopped at her floor.
The couple walked out into the hall. As they neared Abby's door they were greeted by a short, gray headed old lady who opened her apartment door just inches. "Abigail, is that you?" she asked.
"Hello Mildred. How are you this evening? Did we disturb you?"
"No my dear I was listening for you. Hello Timothy." Tim nodded knowing that Mildred was the apartment busybody. She knew everything that went on in the building. Mildred opened the door about a foot and thrust out a large white envelop at Abby. "A messenger brought this for you about 1. I did not know that Federal Express delivered on Sunday."
"Yes, they do. But it costs extra." Abby politely took the envelop and turned toward her apartment. "Thanks Mildred for accepting this for me. If you would excuse us, Tim and I have had a rough day."
"Did you have to work today?"
"Not exactly. One of our friend's father passed away this morning." Abby explained. She grabbed Tim's arm and quickly moved toward her door. She handed him the key so he could open the door.
"I am sorry to hear that. Is there anything I can do?"
"No thank you." Abby replied trying to still be polite. Abby and Tim scooted into the apartment shutting the door quickly. Abby leaned against the closed door. "I hated to put her off but she tends to be a bit nosey and long winded. I'm just not in the mood to be polite."
"I know. The package. What is it?" Abby looked down at the FedEx envelop she was holding. A look of shock appeared on her face. Tim noticed her anxiety immediately. "Abby, what's up?"
"The handwriting" she paused still staring at the writing on the label. "It's Jack's. Timmy, this is from Jackson Gibbs."
"Relax Abby." He put his arm around her shoulder. "What would he be sending you?"
Abby quickly regained her composure and ripped open the envelop. Inside was a letter writing in Jackson Gibbs' handwriting. Abby proceeded to read the letter out loud. "Dear Abby, I need your help. I did not want to bother Leroy with this until I was sure it was a problem. He tends to get a little over protective. I have enclosed an email and a recording I received the other day. Would you check it out for me? There have been a couple of strange men hanging around the store lately. I took pictures of them as well. If you feel that my son needs to be told after you look into it please tell him. Looking forward to your next visit. Jackson Gibbs." Abby pulled out a small flash drive from the bottom of the envelop. She handed it to Tim who quickly placed it in the USB port of Abby's laptop that was sitting on the breakfast bar that was between Abby's small kitchen and her living room.
Opening it quickly he and Abby began to look at the contents. "Wow," Tim muttered. "Do you see what I see, Abby?"
"Oh my goodness, Timmy. Jack was being threatened. We have to call Gibbs. His father was murdered." Abby shouted. "Gibbs and Sarah could be danger."
"Calm down Abby. We don't have enough information. Right now we just have Jack's suspicions." He pulled her into a hug. "Remember Tony is going with Ducky in the morning. This is Gibbs. I'm sure he and Sarah will be ok tonight." Abby nodded and leaned into his embrace. "Now let's take this jump drive down to NCIS. We can do some checking and let Tony know what we found in the morning."

Gibbs must have fallen asleep despite his prediction that he would not sleep. He opened his eyes to Sarah kissing him. Her hands were gently caressing his face and she was sitting his lap. She was whispering something but he could not make out what she was saying. It seemed like she was trying to initiate more intimate contact than she had ever done before. "Sarah," Gibbs whispered. "Sarah, are you sure?" His body was being to respond to her attention but his gut was saying something was not right.
"Make love to me Jethro," she said in a soft tone. "I love you. I want to feel what it is like with someone who loves me truly." Gibbs started kissing her gently. He was still was not sure.
Gibbs stared down into her face as he was kissing her. The room was dim. The only light was from the almost full moon outside. "God she is beautiful," he thought. He stroked her cheek with his thumbs as held her face in his hands. Then he noticed she her face was void of emotions. She was on autopilot. "She's asleep," he whispered. Not wanting to wake her to quickly he gently pushed her away and helped her to sit up on the couch next to him. "Sarah, sweetheart." Sarah kept trying to reach for him. She made no acknowledgement of his voice. "Sarah, wake up. You're dreaming." He shook her gently.
Sarah's eyes gradually began to open and she stared into Gibbs' eyes. A look of realization came over her face. She looked down and noticed her shirt was opened. "What happened?"
Gibbs just kind of shrugged his shoulders. "I think you were have a really good dream."
Sarah did not understand what he meant until the realization of what she had been dreaming hit her. "Did I try to …?" Gibbs nodded. Her face turned beet red. She grabbed the blanket on the couch next to her, wrapped it quickly around her and ran up the stairs, crying.
Gibbs watched her go. He got up and started up the stairs slowly. He was not sure what tack to take to help her. He knew she was embarrassed with what had happened but there was no reason for it. He had to open several doors till he found that the bathroom door was locked. He could hear her crying on the other side of the door. "Sarah, open the door please."
"No, Jethro. I'm fine. I just need some time alone."
"Sure you are. That is why you are crying so hard you're about to have a hiccup attack. I know you're embarrassed but I don't want ever to be embarrassed with me." Gibbs said sweetly. "Now please let me in. I want to talk to you."
"No, go away."
Normally Gibbs would have walked away but in his gut he felt she needed to know he would not turn away from her. He reached into his pocket and took out his pocket knife. He quickly popped the lock on the door. The door slowly opened and he found Sarah sitting in the tub with the blanket wrapped tightly around her. "Sarah" He walked up to the tub and sat down on the white bathmat. "I want to talk to you."
"Jethro, I am so embarrassed."
"Why?"
"I almost attacked you."
"So"
"I was dreaming of making love to you and I acted it out. I was such a slut."
"A what?"
"A slut. Women who throw themselves at men are sluts."
"Who says that?"
"Myron for one."
"Oh the authority on all things moral." Gibbs made a weird face. Sarah looked up at him. Her eyes were red from crying. All of a sudden she started giggling and then she continued into a laugh.
"Stop it. I don't want to laugh at this."
"Why not? Did I look upset at what you did? Did I call you anything?" He chuckled. "Next time you feel like that give a guy some warning. You kind up caught me off guard.'
"I guess I did." She smiled.
"Why don't we get out of bathroom? I don't know about you I am still could use some more sleep." He stood up and held out his arms to her.
She stood up and stepped out of the tub into his waiting arms. He wrapped his arms around her and gave her a quick kiss on the fore head. They walked out of the door of the bathroom into the hall. Gibbs started to lead her toward the stairs to go back to the couch. She stopped him. "Why don't we find a bed where we can stretch out? I bet your back and knees are hurting from the couch." She giggled. "I promise this time to keep my hands to myself."
"Sure, I'll hold you to it." Gibbs smiled and winked. Both of them knew nothing was going too happened but they had entered a new stage in their relationship. At least they were joking about an intimate relationship.
