Chapter Twenty-six: The Past comes out

A few days ago a boy named Billy Fordham, who was an old friend of Buffy from her old school, came into town. He said that his dad had transfer to Sunnydale, so they moved. When he was telling them that Kagome and Vlad were the only ones that could sense that he was lying and that was not all. Looking into his soul she could tell that he was very ill and Vlad could smell it off him. After some investigating with Angel it turns out that it was all a trap.

Billy had cancer so to young and live forever he made a deal with Spike. The guy told the vampire that if he were to hand over the slayer to him then Spike has to turn him into a vampire. When Buffy found out about his plan she followed him to his little club. Unfortunately, one of his wannabes vampires friends locked them in the place. Spike and his vampire gang came and started feeding off the wannabes. The only way that Buffy was able to get herself and the others out alive was when she threatened Spikes mate life. When they got out she locked them in; leaving Billy in with them. The next night...well...let's say he got what he wanted but it only lasted for a few seconds before Buffy stabbed him with a stake.

Weeks later Kagome came home after her little work out with Buffy at the school library, with her dad there too. Let's just say he did not enjoy the music that they were listening to for their work music. Once she took a shower and changed in something comforable she started to help out her mom with dinner.

"Mama, has dad always been so dull?" Kagome asked as she placed the plates and sliverware on the table.

"If I told you how your father used to be when he was young, you wouldn't believe me." Ruka smiled

"What do you mean?" Kagome asked

"Well you know how he all about classical music and all...well let's just say back then he was more into rock." Ruka said

"Giles into rock? I don't see it." Souta said as he sat down at the kitchen table.

"Me, either." Kagome said

Ruka laughed at her children disbelief and believed it was time to tell them about how she and Giles met.

"Actually, it was at a club that was hosting rock bands that I met Giles." Ruka said as she placed the food on the table.

"Daddy went to a club?" Kagome said disbelief.

Ruka nodded and began the story as she sat down.

"It was back in London in 1975, back then I was traveling around Europe with my friend Miranda. She knew of a bar that was playing great bands. It was crowded but very livid. I headed near the bar area to get some water and that's when I literally bumped into him. He was very handsome and looked dashing in his leather jacket."

"Whoa. Whoa, Whoa. Dad wore a leather jacket?" Kagome said in shock.

"Yup, and ever since that day your father tied to get my attention." Ruka said "Even when the bar was doing a sing off, he sang with me. It was his singing that made me fall for him."

"What did he sing?" Kagome asked

"Heartbreak Hotel by Elvis. He knew I was a big fan of him." Ruka smiled

"Really, I just can't see daddy doing that." Kagome said in awe.

Ruka laughed again.

"Well, we were young back then." Ruka smiled "I think I still have a photo of us on that day somewhere. I'll have to dig it out to show you, soon."

"That would be interesting to see." Kagome said

After dinner and finish cleaning the kitchen Ruka went upstairs to look for the photo. It took some time for Ruka to find it but she did and smiled at it. Then photo was a picture of the two and was taken by Miranda. The next morning she decided to showed it to Kagome after breakfast. After seeing the photo Kagome couldn't believe her eyes at what she saw.

"No way, that's daddy?" Kagome said in shocked

Seeing a picture of her parents as their youngselves was unbelievable. The man in her photo looked nothing like the father she knew. He looked liked a rebel with his leather jacket.

"What are you wearing?" She asked her mom.

"It was the late 70's, it was still groovy and colorful back then." Ruka said as she was watering her garden in the backyard.

"I still can't believe that this was you guys back then. You both looked so different." Kagome said "What happened to daddy that changed him?"

Ruka tensed a little before turning to her daughter with a smile.

"Life changes you. You grow up I guess." Ruka said

Kagome was going to say more till a motor by their lot caught their attention.

"Looks like Apollo is here to pick you up, you should get going dear." Ruka said

"Okay, but I'm taking this photo to show the guys. They're never going to believe that this was daddy." Kagome said as she placed the photo in her backpack. "Bye, love you, mama."

She gave her mother a kiss on the cheek before heading to the front and hopped onto Apollo's motorcycle.

When they got to school it was just another boring day. So boring that the girls' decided to play "Anywhere but here." The three girls were sitting on the bench playing the game with Apollo and Vlad.

"I'm on a beach. But not an American beach. One of those island beaches where the water's way too blue. And I'm laying on my towel. And it's just before sunset. And Gavin Rossdale's massaging my feet." Buffy smiled as she explained hers.

"Oh, that's good! Um...I'm in Florence, Italy. I've rented this scooter that's parked outside. And I'm in a little restaurant eating ziti." Willow was explaining hers. "And there are no more tables left so they have to seat this guy with me, and it's John Cusack."

"Very impressive." Kagome smirked

"You have an eye for detail." Buffy said

"Cause, with the ziti…" Willow said before she was cut off by Xander.

"What are you three up to?" He asked

"Having a quick game of Anywhere But Here." Buffy explained

"Oh! Amy Yip at the water-slide park." Xander said

"You never come up with anything new." Willow said

I'm just not fickle like you two. I'm constant in my affections." Xander said "Vlad what about you?"

"Brittany Spears, Thailand beach." Vlad smirked

"Nice." Xander said giving him high-five.

Apollo just scoffed and continued reading his book.

"Then what's yours Apollo?" Vlad asked

"My beloved moon goddess by the falls of Olympus. Should I say more?" Apollo said and send Kagome a wink.

Knowing what he was talking about Kagome blushed and mouthed for him to shut up. Apollo just chuckled and went back to his book. Everyone looked at them, wondering what they were talking about. That was until Willow noticed Giles.

"Do you think Giles ever played "Anywhere But Here" when he was in school?" She asked

"Giles lived for school." Xander said "He's still bitter that there are only 12 grades."

"He probably sat in math class thinking "This could be mathier."" Buffy laughed

"Come on! You don't think he got restless as a kid?" Willow asked

"Are you kidding? His diapers were tweed." Vlad said

"Oh, I don't think so. Look at what my mom showed me of the two of them. You won't believe your eyes." Kagome said as she took out the photo of her parents.

The five of them looked at the photo.

"Who are we looking at?" Xander asked

"These are my parents, Xander. My mama and dad." Kagome said

"That's Giles!" They all said in shock.

"No way that's Giles." Buffy said

"What is?"

They turned to see that Giles was right behind them.

"Oh hi daddy." Kagome nervously smiled as she hid the photo.

"Hello. Look, tonight is very important." Giles said as he gestured them to follow him.

"Now that's a surprise!" Buffy joked

Everyone grabbed their stuff and followed him.

"What's on tap tonight that's so important?" Kagome asked

"Uprising? Prophesied ritual?" Buffy asked "Preordained death-fest?"

"Ah, the old standards." Xander joked

"Medical transport is delivering a monthly supply of blood to the hospital." Giles explained

"Looks like the vampires have hit the meals-on-wheels." Vlad joked

"Hopefully not. We'll meet outside the hospital at 8:30 sharp." Giles said "I'll bring the weaponry."

"I'll bring the party mix." Buffy joked

"And I'll bring the drinks." Kagome smirked

"Just don't be late you two." Giles said

"Daddy have we ever let you down?" Kagome asked

"Do you want me to answer that for one of you while glaring at the other?" He asked drily

Lucky for them Jenny appeared and saved them. That was until she explained to them why she was there. She and Willow are gonna review some computer basic to some students who've fallen behind. Which one of them happened to be Xander.

"Wait...are you telling me that he's passing the class? Him! The so called God." Xander pointed at Apollo.

Apollo rolled his eyes.

"I may be "old school" as you humans say, but even I pay attention to the lessons." Apollo said

"Not to mention Kagome is in the class." Buffy muttered to Willow, who also nodded in agreement.

"Walk me to class?" Jenny asked Giles

"Pleasure." He smiled and they left.

"Aw, look at them." Kagome smiled

"A twosome of cuteness." Vlad said

"Can't you just image them getting together?" Willow smiled

Everyone smiled at first till they got disgusted at the thought of it and left for class.

When night came Buffy and Kagome were at the spot Giles told them to be and he was nowhere to be seen. They were gonna call him till they spotted a delivery van. Two doctor stepped out to take the blood box and that's when the girls knew something was up. It turns out that the doctors were vampires. So within seconds the girls took them down and turned them into dust. Once they made sure that blood was sent to the hospital Kagome decided to check up on Giles before heading home. Being late was not like him. It didn't take her long to get to his apartment and knocked on the door. When he opened it she was surprised by the way that he looked.

"Kagome. It's late. Are you all right?" He asked

She gave him a worried look as she could smell alcohol on his breath.

"I was gonna ask you the same thing." She said

"Yes. No, I'm fine. Fine." He said "I'm, er...I'm rather busy at the moment so I'll see you on Monday at school."

"Daddy, did you forget? The hospital? Vampires? Handy carry-out packets of blood?" She said

"Oh. Yes, er… Are you and Buffy all right? Were you hurt?" He asked

"No, we're fine, daddy. But we were getting a little worried about you. You're never late. Is something wrong?" She asked

"Nothing, nothing. Nothing's wrong." He said slurry "I'm just in the middle of something extremely important. And...I'm sorry, dear, but IO'm gonna have to say goodnight now. I know that you normally sleep here for the weekend but it's not good timing right now."

He shut the door on her without letting her say another word. That really hurt her and that's when she knew that something was really wrong.
