Right now, I'm thinking about a new story but until I can try to make sense of it, you're stuck with this one! Na-nah . . . .!

Red Light Escape by Boogermeister

Chapter 26- Butterfly . . . .

". . . . You've done all of this, because you like her, right?" Grimmjow blinked out of his thoughts to glance at Karin, who nervously fidgeted with her fingers. "I mean . . . . you're not doing this just because you feel a little sorry for her?"

". . . . I don't feel sorry for her," he replied quietly, as he glanced up the hill to see Ichigo talking to her father. "To be totally honest . . . . I feel a little jealous of Ichigo." The twins blinked at that in slight confusion, before Yuzu frowned slightly.

"I don't get it, you feel jelous of Ichigo?" she asked.

"Not like that . . . . it's just that she got a family to fall back on, no matter what," he muttered. "I was already an orphan before I turned eighteen, and I couldn't handle the great responsibility my father left me. I got relatives on my mother's side, but it was hard for them to do anything for me especially when I couldn't run the company until I was 21."

"Then what were you doing before you can take that company?" asked Karin. Grimmjow smiled grimly as he gestured at his right shoulder and his chest and stomach.

"Coming back to life after my near death from a car crash," he replied. Yuzu reacted with a short surprised gasp as her sister stiffened in shock. "You know . . . . I find it strange as of why I had to keep on living, despite of the fact that I often feel depressed and vulnerable with my nightmares and flasbacks. But as soon as I saw your sister, something seemed to click in my head. And I wasn't sure why . . . ."

"You think . . . . that it's fate that you're with Ichigo, Grimmjow?" Yuzu asked softly. Grimmjow smiled a little at that, his hand reaching up to rub at his chin to ponder.

"Who knows, everybody kept saying that I'm acting different because of her," he replied. "It was very odd for them to see someone like me doing everything he can for a poor young mother with a kid. Guess I can't blame them for that, but . . . . now that the public knows about us, it's getting hard to do something about it-"

"Keep trying." Grimmjow blinked in mild surpise before looking at the black-haired twin, who clasped her hands together in a pleading manner. "Dad told us that you're trying to help Ichigo, so please don't stop," she frowned sadly. "I don't care if it takes forever, just don't give up on her . . . . it's the least we can hope for, Grimmjow. It's better than what we tried to do when Tensa was born."

"What? What were you trying to do?" he asked.

"The paternity thing," Yuzu mentioned with a sad frown. "The man wouldn't even try to take the DNA test, because he believed that he was above us and wouldn't stoop so low for such a scandal. He thought that . . . . Ichigo wasn't good enough for him, and that Tensa was some other man's child."

"Well . . . . I do know one thing, that the only reason he revealed the scandal was because he was jealous of our relationship and he tried to blackmail her into leaving me," frowned Grimmjow. "You should know how it happened after that, and why we're in this shit."

"Well, why did he want her to leave you?"

"Business reasons, he owns a part of my company and he wants to take over it," he said. "It's nice to know that a bastard like him would have a heart to destroy one's life like this . . . ." His voice fell silent when he heard Ichigo shouting about, and he glanced up. Ichigo seemed to be agitated, probably about the scandal, but she appeared to quiet herself down soon afterwards before facing her father. ". . . . Stay here for a second," he muttered to the twins before walking up the hill.

Ichigo noticed his coming presence, as she turned to see him walking up to her. "Grimmjow . . . .?" she muttered.

"What's going on . . . .?" he asked quietly, his eyes caught her father's serious ones before the latter looked away.

"I'll leave you two alone," Isshin sighed deeply before going to his other daughters. Ichigo frowned lightly now that they were alone saved for Tensa being alert yet unaware of the serious situation, as she stared at the blunet.

". . . . What's wrong, Ichigo?" Grimmjow asked quietly. "You sounded mad about something a moment ago . . . ."

"No, I wasn't angry, Grimmjow," Ichigo muttered with a frown. "But . . . . I felt frustrated, about everything that has been going on."

"And . . . .?"

". . . . My father told me about the plan of moving far away from here," she sighed. "That is, if you couldn't do anything about it, Grimmjow . . . ." The blunet frowned grimly as he moved forward to grasp at her shoulders, leaning close to press his forehead against hers.

"All of this is my fault, girl," he muttered softly. "Maybe I should've kicked his ass in the first place instead of doing things the right way-"

"No, it's not your fault," she whispered. "It's not my fault, either. But . . . . it's his fault, he chose to do this to me and Tensa, he wanted me to suffer the moment I found happiness. It's not fair, Grimmjow, just because he thinks he's so powerful." She felt a consoling kiss on top of her forehead before being pulled into a light hug.

"Honestly . . . . I would've send you away as a last resort to protect you, if your father believes so," he sighed deeply.

"That sounds selfish of you to do that," she frowned sadly.

"It would be just as selfish to keep you with me," Grimmjow muttered with a short soft laughter. "If that was the only way to help you, then I'd be just as glad to have known you and the kid. For once in my life, when I was pratically living through a blur, I finally noticed something that caught my interest . . . ." Ichigo put up a small smile against his chest, as her son merely looking over her shoulder at the clear blue sky. She glanced up at the man and took a deep breath.

"I don't think it had to be that way, Grimmjow," she muttered, and Grimmjow blinked in surprise.

"What do you mean?"

"I . . . . I have an idea, but I'm not so sure if it can work," she said but stiffened slightly when Grimmjow's eyes lit up in anticipation.

"What, what is it . . . .?" he asked.

"Maybe . . . . I can go against him, that I can sue him for what's he doing to me," she said. "That I can sue him for paternity." Grimmjow stared at her a moment or two before straightening his back, his hand quickly digging into his pocket. "Uh, Grimm-"

"Just a sec," he muttered under his breath as he quickly took out his cell phone dialed up a number. ". . . . Ulquiorra, finally!" he said the moment he was answered. "Listen, I got a very important question to ask you. If I can't go against Aizen, is it possible for Ichigo to sue him instead since she was involved with him . . . .?" Ichigo blinked in interest as Grimmjow listened intently on the other line. "She could . . . .? After all, she had a kid with him and . . . . of course, I'll talk to you on Tuesday or Wednesday. Right now, we got to gather up enough stuff before filing it. Yeah, find any guy suited for this. Thanks a lot . . . ."

". . . . What is it, Grimm-" Ichigo asked but was cut off by a sudden heated kiss, and a surprised blush was tingling in her cheeks. "Wh-what was that about?" she gasped in surprise but Grimmjow grinned as he cupped her face.

"That's the best idea you've ever come up with, Ichigo . . . .!" he said. "I can't believe it, why didn't I think of that before?"

"Ah, you did, on the day the scandal came out," she pointed out. "Remember when you said we can play dirty also?" Grimmjow blinked at that, and a smirk went up in his face.

"Shit, even then I wasn't thinking about that," he sighed. "I was so angry about everything that I didn't think things through."

"It's all right, all it matters that we know what to do this time, right?" Ichigo nodded, with a faint smile.

". . . . Yeah, that's right," he nodded back. "We'll get him for this, I swear . . . . Now, let's go to your Dad and-"

"Wait a minute, Grimmjow," she said, grasping at his hand. "There's someone I want you to meet."

"Huh? Who . . . .?" Ichigo just smiled sadly as she led him to the tombstone. Grimmjow blinked before realizing that the stone was marked with her late mother's name, as he stared at it. It felt strange and yet it was so familiar to him . . . . . in fact, the last time he had visited his own mother's site was when his father was buried next to her.

"Grimmjow . . . . this is my mother, Masaki," said Ichigo. "I guess, if she was alive, she would've enjoyed knowing you," she added solemnly.

"I would've enjoy meeting the woman who have the most beautiful daughter in the world," Grimmjow smirked a bit. Ichigo smiled lightly with a tint of blush across her face. ". . . . Wish I could visit my parents' site as easily as your family, though," he sighed. "Over eleven years and it still stings. But . . . . think they would have liked you as well, Ichigo. Especially my Dad, he thinks that the best women are the ones who are initially uninterested in one's advances." At that, the young mother let out a soft laughter though it was brief.

"Nice to know that I'm that type," she sighed.

"Yeah . . . ."

""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""

"Must you go already, Ichigo . . . .?" Isshin asked softly, giving her a tight yet tender hug now that the sun was slowly setting. "Never know if I'll ever see you again, so please call as much as you can for me."

"I will, Dad, I promise this time," sighed Ichigo as her son was being secured in the car by Grimmjow. Her father inhaled deeply before kissing her on the forehead and reluctantly letting her go. "I'm still sorry for everything that happened. But we'll gonna do anything we can to turn this around, Dad."

"I know that you will," he nodded. Ichigo stared at his solemn face, noticing that he had aged rather quickly since the last time she had seen him especially with the grey coloring on his sideburns. "Pretty soon, we're gonna be a very happy family. And I want to see your goofy smile that I had missed so much." Isshin blinked at that and his lips unintentionally twitched into a small smile.

"Soon, I hope . . . ."

"Mr. Kurosaki, I'll try my best to make this right," Grimmjow said when he looked at the father and daughter. The older man stared back but simply nodded at his promise as he stepped away. "Ichigo, it's time to go . . . ."

"Right," said Ichigo but turned to her sisters to give each of them a hug. "Don't worry, I'll see you guys again soon enough," she smiled lightly.

"I know, I could never ask you to come home now," snifled Yuzu since she was trying to hold back her tears. Karin just frowned sadly as she hugged back the eldest sister.

"If something happens, you'll call us, right?" she muttered.

"Of course I will," she smiled before stepping away. Grimmjow was already in the car as she stepped in, staring back at her family standing by the cementery entrance and waved her good-bye. A few seconds later, the vehicle drove off for the highway. Ichigo turned her attention to the blurry motion of asphalt, reaching to wipe away the warm tear that was threatening to fall. ". . . . Thank you so much, Grimmjow," she mumbled.

"Huh, what . . . .?" Grimmjow was focused on the road but glanced at her when Ichigo stared back.

"What kinda guy would go through this just for his girlfriend and her family?" she sniffed but smiled a little. "Nobody would've guessed that Grimmjow Jaegerjaques had done something like this."

"Tch, it's new to me as well," Grimmjow smirked lightly. "Don't think any other guy would attempt it, believing that it's your problem and not his."

"Well . . . . strange as it sounds, I am very glad that you're a very nosy person," she smiled.

"And I'm glad that you're finally smiling for me," smirked Grimmjow. Ichigo blushed lightly at that, but her smile widened when his hand reaching out to grasp hers. "Now that we finally got that outta our chests . . . . is there anything else you wanna do, Ichigo?"

"Ah . . . . I think I got something . . . ."

"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""

Ichigo gasped softly when Grimmjow sucked at her neck, as the man above her paced his thrusts. They weren't sure how long had it been since they last made love, probably since the day the scandal broke out. But they needed this, the negative news of them being together was overwhelming for them and for once they wanted something better. "Grimm . . . ." whispered Ichigo but moaned softly when the man grasped at her thigh. She stared up at him, his usually feral eyes appeared soft and glistening due to the city lights seeping in the dark room.

"Is this what you wanted?" he asked quietly with a small smirk, kissing at her lips.

"Yes . . . . go, go harder," she moaned softly. Grimmjow chuckled and did what she wished, his hands fisted at the bedsheets as he groaned at the warm feeling. "Shit, Grimmjow . . . ." she moaned and gripped at his shoulders.

"Shh . . . ." he murmured, as he thrusted faster. Ichigo swallowed back a lustful whimper, only gasping and moaning at each movement they made. "Ichigo, you feel so good . . . ." groaned Grimmjow. He kissed her again as he gripped her hips, signaling that he was almost done. Realizing that, Ichigo wrapped her legs around his waist.

"Grimm . . . ." she whimpered.

"Shit . . . .!" Grimmjow stiffened slightly before climaxing, breathing deeply as he carefully moved away from her. "Damn . . . . guess we both needed that, huh?" he sighed as he got off the bed for the bathroom to remove the used protection.

". . . . Yeah," breathed Ichigo. "Was it a bad idea?"

"Nah, the thoughts of scandals were consuming us, so we needed to get away from the tension," he replied when he returned, pulling her against his chest after settling down on the bed. "But right now . . . . we gotta figure out how this new lawsuit can help us." Ichigo blinked at that and glanced at him before frowning.

"You got an idea how I can prove that Sousuke fathered Tensa, Grimmjow?" she asked. "The only thing I got is the birth certificate with him as the father."

"That's good enough but I think we got something else that can also help," he said.

"Huh? Like what?"

"Well . . . . Starrk told me this past week that he got something to cement the filing," he explained as he reclined to a sitting position. "That time, when Aizen came by to bribe you . . . . he got it on tape." Ichigo stiffened by the news and sat up, covering up her nudity with the warm bedsheets.

"What?" she gasped softly.

"Yes, Ichigo, I was shocked at first also," he nodded. "But you know Starrk, he had cameras around the clubs including in his office. He was lucky that he had the whole thing on tape . . . . and not only that, he got the check you had torn up when Aizen tried to bribe you. Both of those things were more than enough to prove that the bastard is guilty."

". . . . Wow," Ichigo sighed in disbelief.

"I know, so maybe the first thing on Monday we get the evidence and talk to my lawyer about filing that paternity suit," he said. He stared at her surprised face and smirked a little. "Hey, it's supposed to be a good thing, right? Be happy, Ichigo."

". . . . I am, Grimmjow," she muttered when she looked at him. "It's just that . . . . the media, you think that they'll take his side instead of ours?" The blunet frowned at that but shrugged before pulling her onto his lap.

"I can see that, who would believe an ex-stripper had a child with a rich and powerful man?" he said. "But I doubt that'll last long until they knew the real truth. So don't worry about it, okay?" Ichigo stared at him and smiled a little as she nodded.

"Guess I can thank Starrk about the tape," she sighed. "First the cell phone and now this, I really gotta thank him . . . ."

"Oh, about that . . . . Starrk wasn't the one who gave you the phone." At that, Ichigo stared at him again with a confused frown. "It was . . . . actually me that gave you the phone, I only asked Starrk to let you get it from him because you wouldn't say no to your former boss."

". . . . You ass, I can believe you did that," she frowned but she wasn't really mad as she moved to hug him. "But thanks a lot, anyway. For some reasons, that phone had actually helped me a lot more now that I think about it."

"I know . . . ." sighed Grimmjow.

"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""

For once, the front page of the newspaper had switched to more important things when Grimmjow picked it up on Monday morning. So far, the scandal had diminished into a small article in the gossip section with only a few paragraphs to spare. Apparently, the public was gradually losing interest. Still, it would be a matter of times until they are on the front pages once again for a different reason. "You're sure that you wanna do this, Ichigo? There's a good chance that you might be pestered by those reporters," he pointed out during breakfast. Ichigo glanced at him but shrugged as she fed Tensa his usual cereal.

"Maybe this time, they'd want to hear our side of the story, right?" she asked.

"Often, but they would try to switch words around to make it even more scandalous rather than being helpful," he sighed, his fork leisurely picking at his dish. "All just to sell measly papers. And it'll be difficult to get the newspapers get to our side anyway, considering that Aizen owns the majority of that area."

"Then can we talk to the ones that aren't owned by him?"

"They're usually the gossip kinds that makes up shit, but . . . . maybe we can talk to someone from the news on TV, unless you're apprehensive about it." Ichigo just shrugged again, before turning her attention to the morning sky through the windows. "Well, once we get to Starrk, we'll think about it," sighed Grimmjow.

"Yeah . . . ." Ichigo exhaled.

"Th-arrk, yah," Tensa seemingly agreed.

"See, the kid knows what we're talking about," the blunet chuckled a little.

"Sometimes I wonder, Grimmjow," Ichigo said and glanced back at him with a slight smile. "Are we leaving soon?"

"Yeah, we can leave in a few minutes," he nodded as he folded up the newspaper. "Just let me finish up this omelet- ugh, it's a bit cold now," he frowned after taking a bite, and Ichigo smiled at that. Like before, Grimmjow was driving the disguised car as they made their destination. It felt a bit odd, though, to Ichigo. The last time they were there, Renji had made some cruel comments at her and it resulted in him getting into a scuffle with the blunet. Then why was Grimmjow readily willing to go back to the strip club, if the other man would still be there?

"Grimmjow-"

"We're here, Ichigo," Grimmjow said, parking inside the alley just in case but blinked when he realized that Ichigo had said something. "Oh . . . . you were about to say something to me?"

"Uh, no, it's nothing important," she shook her head. "I was gonna say if we're there yet but we already are." The man looked at her but nodded as they got out, with the toddler in his mother's arms. As requested, the back door was unlocked when they stepped inside and trailed behind the backstage. "I hope that Starrk's video can help," she muttered.

"It better helps, because it'll be a waste of time-"

"Who're you, and how did you get in here?" The couple stiffened at the unknown guttural voice before noticing a rather large man looming over them the moment they stepped out to the bar area. The man appeared rather agressive with one good eye glaring down at him since he had on an eyepatch, his black shaggy hair framed around his face wildly, and a thin wicked scar trailed down the left side of his face. He looked even more frightening at the fact that he was wearing a torn-up black trenchcoat.

"Oh, they're here . . . .! Kenpachi, let them through!" called out Rangiku. The man named Kenpachi looked over his shoulders and grunted, moving away so Ichigo can pass. But the young mother was still perplexed and a little apprehensive of who was this man as she moved. Grimmjow's expression was still rigid but he mentally wouldn't admit that he felt a little afraid from him as he followed after her. Tensa, however, was giggling lightly at the sight of him, truly unaware that the adults were scared of him.

"Finally, thought you guys would change your minds," sighed the strawberry blonde.

"After seeing that guy, we might not come back here again," frowned Grimmjow.

"Yeah, who is that guy, Rangiku?" Ichigo asked.

"Oh . . . . that guy's Kenpachi," she shrugged. "He just got hired around last week. He may look scary but he's a decent guy once you get to know him. But don't piss him off; what he did to some of the rude customers makes Ichigo's actions in the past look like picking flowers."

"Shit . . . ." Grimmjow grimaced but Ichigo couldn't help but cracking a smile. "Oh well . . . . come on, Ichigo, let's talk to Starrk," he said, leading her to the office. The door was already opened as they stepped in, and Starrk was behind the desk dozing off. "Starrk, wake up," sighed Grimmjow.

"Hmm . . . . man, and the dream was just getting good," Starrk sighed tiredly as he opened his eyes and sat up. "All right, you said that you figure out what to do, right?"

"Yeah . . . . that Ichigo'll sue Aizen instead of me doing the job," he replied, as he and Ichigo sat down. "It makes more sense that she'll do it, since Aizen fathered the kid but won't do anything about it. I'm only hoping that your tape can provide enough evidence, though it's not like I'm doubting you . . . ."

"I know you're not, Grimmjow," he sighed, reaching for the top left drawer. He opened it and reached inside before taking out a DVD case as well as a sandwich storage bag filled with the ripped check. "Here . . . . you know, you can look over the video just in case," he said when he gave it to Grimmjow. "I had, but I'm sure that it's more than enough to help you guys."

"Thanks, you're a good friend, Starrk," nodded Grimmjow.

"Ichigo . . . . I believe you'll get a edge on this," the lazy brunet nodded. "If it were me, I would've given him a bullet in the ass."

"Tch, you'd like that, wouldn't you?" he smirked lightly. "Is that all, Starrk?"

"Yeah, until you need something else," he smiled a little.

"Thank you so much, Starrk," nodded Ichigo as they stood up. "I hope that we'll still talk to each other after all this . . . ."

"Of course we will, Ichigo," nodded her former boss. She smiled back at him before they left the office, by now the girls were gossiping among themselves by the bar when they noticed them.

"Hey, what's up this time? I didn't get the chance to ask you," said Rangiku.

"Well, I just found out that I can sue Sousuke, for paternity, and we're here to get what was needed from Starrk," she sighed.

"Oh, I hope that comes out well," Orihime frowned worriedly.

"Yeah . . . ."

"Ichigo, I'm going back to the car," nodded Grimmjow. "You can keep talking to your friends, I'm just gonna call up my lawyer."

"Ah, all right then, Grimmjow," Ichigo said, and the blunet left. "Man . . . . it felt surreal that I'm doing this. I never thought that I'm the one that's going against such a powerful man."

"I know, but I don't doubt that your boyfriend will pull some strings for you," Rangiku nodded with a small smirk. "After all, he's gonna fight fire with fire."

"Guess you're right about that-"

"That's your kid?" Ichigo flinched by the growl-like voice before looking up, again Tensa was unfazed by Kenpachi's killer face as he giggled in greeting. "Cute kid you got there," he grunted.

"Uh, yeah, thank you," Ichigo stuttered a little. At that, Kenpachi put up a wide grin, which could rival a psychopathic serial killer's, before reaching inside his trenchcoat. The young mother could only freeze until she realized that the man pulled out a wallet and opened it to reveal a short row of photos.

"Got a brat myself, she's four years old now," he pointed out. Ichigo blinked twice before noticing the photos filled with an energetic girl with bubblegum pink hair and a very sweet smile. She could help but smile in empathy as she nodded at him.

"Beautiful girl you got there," she complimented.

"Thanks, appreciate it," grinned Kenpachi before wandering away. The mother would had never thought that a man that scary could have a sweet-looking child.

"Man, it's still hard to overlook that guy," shrugged Rangiku. "Guess we got to get used to it now that Renji's gone, huh?" Ichigo blinked at her words . . . . then blinked again in shock as she stiffened.

. . . . What?

"Renji left . . . .?" she questioned when she turned to her friends, who semed just as surprised at her reaction.

"Y-yeah, Renji left his job after what happened to him and your boyfriend, Ichigo," muttered Orihime. "That was days ago, we thought you heard of it when Starrk talked to Grimmjow about it . . . . oh," she frowned in surprise when Ichigo's reaction went stiff. "Grimmjow hadn't told you?"

". . . . No," she frowned, her eyebrows tensed in confusion. Why would Grimmjow hold that information away from her? "Don't tell me that he quit his job because of me."

"Then we won't," her other friend replied grimly.

"Shit . . . .!" Ichigo cursed under her breath before shaking her head. "What was the point of all that? Did he really think that quitting and staying out of my life for good would benefit me?"

"Well, yeah, especially when you told him that he was nothing and you won't talk to him ever again," said Rangiku.

"But . . . . I was so angry at him because he said mean things, it wasn't like I meant it for real," she frowned. Neither of them meant what they said to each other, but it seemed that it was far too late to take back what was said, now that Renji was gone from the club. ". . . . What has he been doing so far?" she asked.

"Honestly, we don't even know, Ichigo," she sighed. "Lately, Shuuhei had been dropping by to make sure that he's okay but . . . . I think he's worried that Renji might become suicidal if he's been left alone long enough." Ichigo's face tensed at that, before looking down. She never knew that the red-head would be this devastated over her like that. But why? They both knew that she was never romantically interested in him, yet he kept pushing until he ruined it for good. But . . . . she couldn't help but feel sorry for him. She can't say that her life was better than his, not when she knew that he as well as most other workers here grew up without a family. Being rejected many times by society and people alike had to cut deeply.

"Tch . . . . you know his numbers so I can contact him?" she asked out of the blue, surprising the two other girls.

"Wait, what? You wanna talk to him, Ichigo?" questioned Orihime.

"Why? Not when he was acting like a total jerk about you being with Grimmjow," Rangiku frowned in confusion.

"I know that . . . . but I don't think it's fair to let anyone getting hurt because of me," she said sadly. "Even if Renji was in the wrong, him being depressed wouldn't make me feel better." She felt a soft poke on her shoulder and she looked up to see Chad. "Oh, Chad . . . ." she muttered, but the quiet giant simply handed her a folded piece of paper before nodding.

"Try to talk to him, it might make him feel better . . . ." he muttered. Ichigo blinked before looking at the paper, but nodded as she stuffed it into her toddler's pants pocket.

"Thanks a lot, guys, but I should go now," she said, turning to leave.

"Good luck, Ichigo," said Orihime. Ichigo walked for the back entrance and left, the car was still there as she opened the back passenger door.

"Hey, you took your sweet time," Grimmjow joked lightly, when she then settled into the front seat.

"We just wanted to catch up, Grimmjow," sighed Ichigo, putting on her seatbelt. But the blunet gazed at her somewhat indifferent expression but said nothing as he started the engine. ". . . . I didn't know that Renji quit several days ago," she said, and Grimmjow stiffened in slight surprise at that.

"Oh . . . . I forgot to tell you that," he muttered. "Not that it should concern you-"

"You should've still told me," she replied.

Grimmjow just frowned as he drove out of the alley and back into the streets. "What good would've done whether or not to tell you, Ichigo? You know damn well whose fault was it," he muttered. "Besides, right now, we gotta figure out for tomorrow's plan."

". . . . I know," sighed the young mother, glancing out of the window.
