A/N hello! I'm super excited for you to read this chapter cause it was so much fun to write! I'll try to make this short so you can jump right in. Read, review, follow, favorite. (P.S. sorry for the cliffhanger but I didn't want a super long chapter... plus it adds suspense!) Okay, now read!
After what seemed like an hour to Emma but was really only about fifteen minutes, the two stopped. Emma had clung to Hook for most of the walk, due to the fact that she almost fell asleep at least five times. He had to help her the entire time, making sure she didn't run into any bushes or trees. But they finally made it.
"We're here." Hook said.
"Good, now we can go to sleep." Emma said, her eyes half closed as she leaned on Hooks shoulder.
"No. Now we can go see what we came for." Hook said slowly, like he was talking to a child.
They walked into a dark cave which, unbelievably, was actually darker than it was outside. Emma got the strange feeling that she got around magic as soon as they entered the cave. On the bright side it didn't feel as bad as it normally did and it made her wake up a little more. Hook walked her over to a spot that he decided was alright and then sat down and Emma followed.
"So, what exactly is so great about this cave?" Emma asked after an awkward minute of sitting in silence.
"Ssh. You have to be quiet or it won't work." Hook said.
He sounded so excited, Emma couldn't help but smile at his enthusiasm. She had never really seem him like that before. She opened her mouth to say something but stopped when she saw it. A bunch of colorful lights began to dance around them. It was the most beautiful thing Emma had ever seen. Every color possible, red, blue, green, purple. They were small little dots of bright light. It lit up the entire cave. Emma put out her hand and one of them landed on it, tickling her hand as it moved around.
"What are they?" Emma asked Hook in a whisper.
"Pixies," Hook said with a smile.
"Like fairies?" Emma asked.
"No, pixies are much much smaller and usually meaner in the day time... But sometimes if you're lucky you can find a pixie cave and they'll come out." Hook explained quietly.
"They're beautiful."
"I thought you'd like it."
They watched in silence for a while. As they did many questions began to form in Emma's head. Finally she turned to Hook, who was smiling. A real smile, not a smirk or a fake smile but a true sincere smile.
"Why did you bring me here?" Emma asked.
"When I was younger I lived in a town that was very close to a pixie cave. Whenever I was feeling scared or sad, my brother, Liam would take me to it."
Emma was surprised by Hooks willingness to open up about that. It was so personal. And the last time he spoke about his brother he got so upset. It was nice to see him smile this time.
Hook continued to explain. "Anyway, I noticed this cave as we were walking by... And you seemed sad? Or... distracted?" Hook was very unsure of his words and quickly corrected himself again "like you had a lot on your mind, which is totally your business and I understand if you don't want to share... anyway the point is I remembered always feeling better after seeing the pixies and I thought maybe you'd feel better too." He finished the last sentence fast. "And, this is sort of my way of trying to apologize... for the other day."
She didn't even have to use her 'super power' to see if he was telling the truth or if it was just an act. Emma smiled, he was being sincere. Truly kind and caring. Emma stared at him with a thin smile on her face. Hook sat there awkwardly, unsure about what she was thinking.
"Remember when I told you why I don't call you Killian?" She asked. Emma spoke carefully, just in case, he was clearly hurt when she said it the first time and she wasn't sure if he was still upset now.
"Because I've been acting more like my father than my brother." Hook said calmly. He was a little surprised by where she decided to take the conversation, but just went with it.
"Taking me here, to make me feel better and not trying to pry answers out of me... that was a very Killian thing to do."
"Thank you... Emma." Emma could tell he had wanted to say Swan by the pause before her name.
"No... Thank you." Emma whispered, probably not loud enough for him to hear, but she didn't care.
They were sitting so close. Emma didn't even realize that they were still holding hands until that moment. Hooks eyes flickered down at her lips then back up to her eyes. Emma smiled and felt a slight blush come on. Warning bells, more like warning sirens, went off in her head. They told her not to give in, to put up her walls, to do anything to shut down and get her out of that situation. But it was to late and Emma ignored all of her thoughts as the two leaned in.
There lips brushed up against each other softly. But just before the little spark of electricity could happen... they heard the sound of two men talking. The sudden noise caused both of them to turn, interrupting their almost-kiss. They listened and watched carefully and silently.
"I don't see why we can't just do it now!" One of the men said frustrated.
"Because I said we wait!" They other man said.
Emma gasped when she heard him then instantly covered her mouth. Thoughts ran wild through her head. Could that be?... No, of course not... But if it is? If it was who she thought then they needed to leave. Emma turned to Hook who was busy staring at the men.
"Killian I-"
Emma started but Hook clamped his good hand over her mouth and shushed her. The man outside heard this and took step inside. Hook stood up and Emma stood with him, as his hand was still over her mouth. Hook pushed Emma so that she was pressed up against the wall of the cave and his chest was pressed against her back. He whispered another quite "ssshhh" in her ear and Emma responded with a little nod. Emma couldn't see from this position but she could hear the man's footsteps getting closer. She trembled a bit as the men's stomping for louder and shut her eyes tight, not that it made a difference, all the pixies had disappeared by now and it was pitch black inside the cave. That was probably a good thing though because now the black of Hooks outfit blended in with the side of the cave.
After a few minutes they heard the men finish their conversation and leave. Still they didn't move for a while after that, just to be sure that the men were gone. Finally Emma, who was a bit more uncomfortable than Hook stepped on his toes.
"Bloody hell! What was that for?" Hook asked in a whisper.
"You wouldn't move, besides your hand was partly over my nose and it was getting hard to breathe." Emma explained nonchalantly, pleased to see that Hook didn't try to argue any further.
"We should get back to the camp while we can still get some sleep in... it'll be morning soon and we're still on a tight schedule." Hook said as they headed out of the cave. He paused for a second and looked at Emma peculiarly. "You okay, Emma?"
"Yeah, fine... Who do you think those men were?" Emma asked, even though she knew the answer.
There was no doubt in her mind that she knew that voice. Those men were who she thought they were. But she didn't see the point in telling Hook, especially if they weren't going to be bothering them.
"I don't know." Hook replied.
"Do you think they're dangerous?" Emma asked, once again knowing the answer.
"Probably," Hook answered honestly.
"So... What do we do?" Emma asked, this time not knowing the answer.
"Avoid them... it's the easiest way to stay out of trouble. They can't mess with us if they are unaware of us being here." Hook said logically.
Emma nodded but had a bad feeling that they did know that they were there. And that they might have some plans for once they found them.
A/N I'm back! Please, please, please leave a review. I want to hear your feedback for this chapter! Oh and thanks for all the love this story has been getting.
