Chapter 26: Something so Hodge

Brock picked her straight up off her feet, thoroughly kissing her lips.
When they parted, Reba was speechless.
Brock smirked. "He may be a real ladies' man, but I still got it."
"Yeah, you do. You got me. You're worth a hundred of him, but you gotta kiss me again."
Brock had managed to carry them into the hallway during the kiss without her even realizing it. They were halfway into the next kiss when they heard a woman's throat clear. "There will be none of that in the hallways of my school. I should know better when it comes to you people. I heard some rumors going around about you. It seems you're following in Cheyenne's footsteps and I'd like to talk to you about it in my office now." Mrs. Hodge pointed down the hall. She turned and marched away, leaving them to follow.
Reba's cell phone rang with Barbra Jean's eager face on the screen. Jack's words came flooding back to her. "Barbra Jean, the jig is up. Where's the book?" Reba used her fierce tone again with the bubbly blonde.
Brock's mouth flew open. All he could hear was Barbra Jean's stammering.

The answers to the questions above will be revealed as you read the story. Here is "Enchantment!"
Now on with our next chapter-
The line went dead, all she heard was silence in her ear then.
Mrs. Hodge turned around to face the teens. "Will you put it away, or do I have to confiscate it from you?"
Reba shook her head. Her phone disappeared into her pocket in mere seconds. She looked at Brock, who resembled a whipped puppy. She didn't remember him being much help the last time they were in the hot seat with Mrs. Hodge as Cheyenne's parents. She took a deep breath and stepped into the principal's office. She didn't know whether to be scared or relieved that Cheyenne and Van were in there, waiting on them.
Van flashed a reassuring smile, and Reba felt a large weight lift off her shoulders.
She sat down calmly while Brock continued to look like a deer in the headlights. The family sat quietly, politely waiting for the principal to begin.
Mrs. Hodge remained standing. "I've called you here because we have another delicate situation. It seems that there's a rumor going around that Nell is pregnant. What do you have to say about that?"
"We support these two a hundred percent. You can't send Nell to Holly House or suspend her. We won't let you," Cheyenne began.
"These two crazy kids are staying in this school, or you'll find yourself another assistant football coach," Van interjected.
Mrs. Hodge held her hands up. "Wait just a second. I never said any of that. The two of you are valuable employees of this school. I just want to get to the bottom of this. I take it that Nell is pregnant?"
Reba nodded wordlessly.
"Okay. Things have changed since Van and Cheyenne were in your predicament. Dr. Hart hired a lawyer to make sure that school policy was changed. The couple in this situation gets equal treatment in most cases, when necessary. No one is thrown out of school. The district has a half-day program for teen parents. We bus them out to special classes in the afternoon at the Career Center. Surely, you can't disagree with teens taking extra classes in aspects of basic child care, parenting skills, nutrition and wellness, human development, career, community, and family connections, family systems, interpersonal relationships, and consumer and family resources. Now, the district does require the pregnant teen to participate. Things haven't changed much though. It is still Cap's choice whether or not to participate with Nell."
Brock took Reba's delicate hand in his. "Of course, I'll participate. We're a team. A wise man once said that the husband and wife belonged in the same high school."
Van beamed.
Mrs. Hodge looked questioningly at Brock before shaking her head. "Of course, Dr. Morgan's little class project, I'd forgotten. Now that we have that settled, we can arrange for them to start in their new classes on Monday. You're all free to leave for the day."
Cheyenne kissed her father on the cheek as they got into the car and headed for home.
"Not that I'm complaining, but what was that for?"
"Thanks for fighting for us and believing in us. I really means a lot that you fought the district for us."
"No one should ever be treated like that. No family should ever suffer the way that we did."
Reba laced her fingers through Brock's. "Thanks for being the hero. You did a wonderful thing a long time ago and it continued to help us even today."
Van chuckled. "Cap is gonna have to play with dolls for a while."
Cheyenne smacked him on the back of the head. "Shut up, Van!"
Barbra Jean was pacing the floor when the family entered the Hart house. "Okay, I'm here. Let's talk."
Reba's fists were clenched at her sides. "Choose your words carefully, BJ," she spat. "Why would you turn us into this?"
"Because I never should have broken up your marriage in the first place. I knew that he still loved you. He said your name in his sleep and even during sex sometimes. And you were never able to move on, Reba. Look at your love life. In the past seven years, your only sex partner has been Brock, even though you're divorced and he hurt you. I knew that I could bring you back together and I did. I'm not sorry." Barbra Jean crossed her arms in front of her chest defensively.
"You're completely insane. You used some kind of voodoo or witchcraft or something on us. That's not normal, Barbra Jean. This was not the right way for you to try to help us get back together."
"All you needed was a little Bow-chicka-bow-bow. I'm proud of myself. I could never live with myself for causing you such pain before. My healthy baby came at the expense of yours. It was so hard to know that your baby had died. Now you get to have a healthy baby."
"What is she talking about, Reba? What does she mean by that?" Brock asked. He stepped away from her side to face her.
"She's crazy, Brock. You know that. Look at us. You can't trust a single word she says. She needs to shut her mouth or I'll shut it for her."
"But Reba, I'm not lying. I wish you would've told me. I can only imagine how hard it is for you to look at Henry."
"Not at all, but it's really hard to look at you," Reba replied through gritted teeth. Reba ran past her up the stairs to her old bedroom. She went into the walk-in closet and pulled out a box with a miniature teddy bear and newborn outfit inside. She inhaled the fresh Dreft scent on the pink, frilly outfit. Tears began to fall down her cheeks as she held the garment and bear against her chest.

Keep those reviews coming in to read more!
Author's note: How did you like the big reveal? Barbra Jean is the one responsible for all the craziness in the story. I will continue to unfold that soon. Since we are returning back to 2001, the scenes will be taking place in high school less and less now.
The end of summer school means more time for writing. I'm so happy to get back to something I enjoy so much.
Remember, I reward those who review. Anyone who reviews each chapter gets a sneak peek at the next chapter. I'm going to do this for all my stories for all my updates, so keep reviewing or PM me with comments about the story and I will reward you.
Thanks for all the PMs and reviews. I love them! I love talking about my stories with readers. I will always take time out to do that.
Here's the author shout-out section. Welcome back to Dara Tavar, gods-concrete-angel-princess79, SomebodysLucy, DanielleJW, Purplewater3, and Dr. Michaela Quinn. We've missed your stories. Keep going!

Please encourage Dr. Michaela Quinn to continue some of her stories. She is continuing Reba's Dream, but I would also like to encourage her to continue Brock's Dilemma, Burning Passion, and Reba's Choice.
If anyone has any suggestions on my stories, then I'd love to hear them! Review or Send me a P.M with your suggestions! Please feel free to make any comments that you wish. I may just decide to include it in the story. If I do include one of your suggestions, then I will give you full credit.
