Paul's POV

I didn't think. Thinking caused too many problems, it made me worry and paranoid. Thinking could get me killed. I just let my natural instincts take over and ran straight towards the leech. His seemed frozen with shock and fear for a few seconds before taking action. He grabbed for Jaeyn, but was surprised to see her running.

That's my girl. It was the only thought that I allowed to break through my mind.

The idiot had the nerve to chase her, but Jasper and Esme got their first. Jaeyn looked surprised to see them but didn't hesitate to grab hold of Jasper. He threw her onto his back and ran. We all had focused our attention onto the now surrounded vampire. He growled at us, trying to find an exit so he could go after Jaeyn.

Paul, would you like the honors? We'll help keep him in the circle while you destroy him. Sam's voice flitted into my mind.

It seems too easy… I thought.

Too easy? What do you mean? He's the idiot who didn't hire bodyguards. Quil commented.

That is when it hit me. No kidnapper went without accomplices. This leech had help! My theory was confirmed when I heard a scream in the air. Jaeyn! I screamed in my head. Everyone ran towards the scream, except Quil, Embry, Bella, and Rosalie. They stayed behind and contained the leech. I could hear them and knew he was fighting back.

Shit! You were right! Jacob growled. We all saw the 10 vampires surrounding Jaeyn, Jasper, and Esme. Jasper and Esme were keeping them away the best they could but desperately needed help. We all jumped into the fight. I clamped my teeth onto a nearby vampire's neck, biting and pulling until the earsplitting sound of his head tearing off filled my ears. I moved on, biting, clawing, and pushing back any vamps I could. I wasn't even paying attention to my girl. That was a big mistake.

Where's Jaeyn? Sam's frantic voice asked.

I searched around, not seeing a trace of her beautiful blue hair or sun kissed skin. I growled and took off running. Her scent wasn't hard to find since she was my imprint. Her scent would always be the strongest, even a sea of people. I could never lose her. Well, never again will I ever lose her. It didn't take long for me to find her on the ground, clutching her leg. The coppery smell of blood hit me instantly and I whined. Seriously? She was just as bad as Bella when she was human.

"N-no!" She screamed, trying to get away from me. I felt hurt, but realized she still didn't know the truth and wolves are quite scary looking. Especially ones the size of bears like us. I stopped walking towards her and whimpered. I knelt down, getting into a non-threatening stance before looking up at her. She seemed to calm down and just stared at me.

"Please…don't hurt me…" She whispered, tears threatening to spill over.

I whimpered again and slowly walked over to her. It took a while considering how slow I had to walk so she wouldn't be startled, but soon collapsed near her legs. She just stared, making no sudden movements. Her leg was slowly bleeding. It was a long cut but not deep. I sniffed, making sure no vampires were in the immediate area. Most of them were dead, at least that is what I gathered from the pack's thoughts. I nuzzled her leg, far from the cut, trying to make her warm up to me. I could feel her slowly relax, which was good because I needed her to trust me. It would help once she found out the truth. She would already trust my wolf.

"So soft…" She slowly reached out and ran her hand along my fur. It felt perfect, just having her touch my fur. Almost as nice as it was when she touched my skin.

I yipped softly before slowly standing up. I didn't want to intimidate her, not while I was trying to get her to warm up to the idea of having my wolf around. I watched her cautiously as I called out to the pack in my head.

Guys…follow my scent. Bring the Cullens, it's time to go home. I sighed, relaxing for once.

Jaeyn still clutched her wound, but didn't shuffle away from me like before. She seemed to relax more and more, even moving closer when she heard the leaves rustle or the occasional animal noises. She was very scared. The old Jaeyn would have searched around, looking for the source of the noise or laugh if someone else looked scared. She was just about fearless. What did that monster do to her?

Jasper is going to carry her back. We're heading to the Cullens place so Doc can patch her up. Sam said as they all gathered around us.

I nodded and looked at Jaeyn. Her eyes were wide, her breathing quickened, and….she fainted. Just dropped. Luckily, Jasper caught her in time and picked her up bridal style. Was she okay? Did she lose more blood than I had thought?

"It was too much for her to take. Her body basically just shut down as a coping mechanism. She should be fine." Edward murmured to everyone, but I know it was mostly for my benefit.

I nodded and started running. Everyone followed as we went back to Forks. I was still tense and would be until I knew she was okay mentally. Her wound would heal with time, but her mind could be permanently broken. I hoped that it wasn't. I hoped that I could help fix her. I just needed for her to be okay.

Jaeyn's POV

I swear my dreams are vivid. It was ridiculous how real that all seemed. He taking me outside, those bear sized wolves attacking him, and the Cullens! They moved so fast! Before Jasper and Esme whisked me away, I saw the similarities between them and him. The Cullens matched his speed, pale skin tone, and menacing look in their eyes. The only difference was that their eyes were a pretty golden brown, his were a deep sinister red.

"Jaeyn? Sweetie…we won't hurt you. My family is nothing like that man, we would never hurt you." Esme's soothing voice broke through my thoughts and my eyes snapped to her. I gulped, my mind was trying to process all this information. I took in a deep breath and soon the tears started to run down my face.

"Oh, sweetheart!" Cold, hard arms wrapped me up in a hug and softly rubbed my back. The clothes were so thin that the freezing temperature Esme admitted seeped through them and made her shiver. She slowly pulled away, but let a small smile form on her face after seeing Esme's hurt look. If we hadn't been so preoccupied, we would have heard them. 10 of those creatures surrounded us, their bright red eyes burning into me. I almost started shaking again from fear.

"Move back," Jasper's voice was dangerously low. One thing I wasn't sure about was who he was talking to. Me or our attackers? I slowly took a few steps back, trying to make too much noise. Suddenly, all ten creatures shifted their gaze to me and all I could think was…I'm going to die. I tensed up, letting the fear roll through me when suddenly those wolves came back. Not just them, but the rest of the Cullens. They were all here…to save me?

Soon they were all fighting together. Jasper and Esme had been fighting, they attacked as soon as I started backing away. I started running away from the scene as the other joined in. They were after me, so I had to get away. Everyone was too distracted to notice me. I just kept running, though my body begged me to stop and just rest. Just when I thought of stopping for a few seconds, I heard a twig snap. I whirled around, my body was very off-balanced and I fell back. A branch left a huge gash in my leg as I fell near a tree.

"Shit! Ow..." I whimpered, clutching my leg. It wasn't the smartest thing to do, but it was bleeding. I wracked me brain for possible things to do when a noise startled me. I looked up to see one of those wolves. They may have saved me, but it was a wild animal. I still don't understand how they knew to target him and only him. I tried to move away, "N-no!"

The wolf whimpered, almost as if it was sad. It knelt down and looked up at me, not showing any sign of wanting to hurt me. Although, I've learned many things in life and one thing is looks can be deceiving. I watched the animal carefully and soon the tears resurfaced. They just loved to make appearances at the worst moment. I whispered softly to the animal, "Please…don't hurt me…"

The animal whimpered again and very slowly walked over to me. I watched it, not moving and blinking only a few times. Once it was quite close to me, the wolf collapsed to the ground and nuzzled me leg. I tensed up, ready for it to bite me or something. Didn't wolves react badly to blood? This one didn't go anywhere near my cut. I just stared, my body slowly relaxing and becoming used to this animals soft touch. I even put my hand out and stroked its fur. I murmured, "So soft…"

The wolf yipped softly before slowly standing up. It looked as if it was concentrating hard on something. I have no idea what, though. I did find myself moving closer to it whenever unknown sounds came from the trees and bushes around us. I felt a sort of comfort with the wolf around, most of my fear had subsided and was starting to depend on him for what little courage I had left. I was still clutching my wound when the Cullens and pack of wolves surrounded me. My eyes widened at how they looked.

Calm down...calm down…just…oh gosh. The mantra running through my head. I started taking in short bursts of air, my emotions became too much to handle and everything…just…went…black.
