Chapter 26:
Caroline immediately ran to Katherine to tell her what had happened. She confided in Katherine more than the others for a simple reason. Rebekah was Klaus' sister so it would be strange and Bonnie was always working with her grimoires and all. She found Katherine after at least ten minutes.
"Katherine, I looked for you everywhere." Caroline exclaimed, "Guess what happened!"
Katherine looked up at Caroline and noticed the way she seemed pleased.
"You slept with Klaus." She guessed with a sly smile.
Caroline frowned, a little disappointed. "How did you know?" Caroline wondered.
"My pinky finger tells me everything." Katherine replied amused, moving her smallest finger for added effect.
"Ha-ha, so funny Kat." Caroline rolled her eyes before speaking again, "It was good! Like, really good, the sex I mean, but after that it didn't really go well." Caroline started.
"Does anything ever go well with you and Klaus?" Katherine asked dramatically but when Caroline's face changed she hurriedly reassured her, "I'm kidding, Caroline."
"Your jokes suck." Caroline pointed out, "He left. We made love and then he left, but not before saying 'thank you'." Caroline said, moving her hands in the air and trying to imitate Klaus' accent.
"He what?" Katherine asked bewildered.
"I might have told him, just before we had sex, that it was just for a few minutes and then everything would go back to the way it was. But I didn't mean it. It wouldn't have been just for a few minutes. And then he left not wanting me to kick him out." Caroline explained, looking down at her feet.
"You two are so confusing." Katherine commented with a small shrug of her shoulders.
"I have to meet him in the hall in a few," Caroline announced.
"What for?" Katherine wondered with a slight raise of her eyebrows.
"I don't really know, he told me that if I come it means I want to give us another chance and if I don't it means I don't want to be with him ever again." Caroline explained.
"Will you go?" Katherine asked apprehensively.
"Of course I will!" Caroline exclaimed, almost surprised by the brunette's question.
Of course she would go. She didn't know what he had in store for her, but she didn't care. She wanted to give them another chance and she knew he wanted it just as much. She knew Klaus would do anything for her, and she knew he would give his life for her, even though she would never want to live in a world were he wasn't with her.
And then it hit her. It was the same for him, that was why he wanted to turn her so badly.
She knew that she would accept turning someday, she knew it now even though she hadn't known it before. She would let him turn her to spend the eternity with him, but just not now. They weren't even together anymore. She wanted to take things slowly, not to rush things and declare they were back together right away. It wouldn't work that way.
She looked back at Katherine to see her handing her something, "Here, drink this." Katherine said as she handed her a vial.
Caroline took it and drank it without even thinking. "What is it? It's really good." Caroline said once she had finished it.
"I have no idea," Katherine admitted. "Bonnie gave it to me and I have a lot of it in my room. She said it was good for the body, but I don't like it at all, maybe because I am a vampire. I have no idea but I just don't like it at all. So now that I know you like it, I will give you a little everyday so Bonnie doesn't get offended," Katherine reasoned.
"Alright, and I see I have no choice in the matter?" Caroline asked, giggling.
"No, you don't." Katherine affirmed, smiling.
Realizing how long it must've been, Caroline turned to start leaving the room. "I have to go now."
"Wait, I forgot to tell you." Katherine called her back, "Klaus knows about me and Elijah."
Caroline turned toward Katherine, a little surprised, "Elijah told Klaus?"
"Yes, he did, apparently. That's what Klaus told me earlier…while he was strangling me." Katherine explained nonchalantly.
"Klaus strangled you?" Caroline exclaimed outraged, "Because you are with Elijah?"
"No, not because I am with Elijah." Katherine reassured her, "Because I told him I advised you to sleep with another man." She said winking at the end.
"Oh so I have you to thank for him thinking that then," Caroline said sarcastically and Katherine frowned opening her mouth to ask what she was talking about before Caroline continued. "I was giving myself pleasure, like you suggested me to do and he heard me. He broke the door open because he thought I was with another man. Can you imagine how embarrassed I was?"
"Don't scold me. It seems to have turned out well since you slept with him in the end," Katherine said dismissing the subject with a wave of her hand and roll of her eyes.
"Anyway, I really must go. We'll talk later about you and Elijah." Caroline said with a wink before leaving the room.
She had only set foot out of the room that she was met by Kol who seemed happy to see her.
"Caroline, I was looking for you. I was thinking we could start training today." Kol announced getting right to the point.
"Um, I don't know, Kol, I have something else to do," Caroline hesitated as she started to walk toward the hall where she was going to meet Klaus, only to be followed by Kol.
"If you want to be able to defend yourself before Mikael decides to attack, you need to start training. And don't tell Nik. I can't wait to see the look on his face once he sees your new and improved fighting capabilities." Kol said, already proud of himself for something he hadn't done yet.
"Can we start later then?" Caroline proposed, "We can do it in two hours for example, that way I'll be exhausted to go to bed."
"Perfect." Kol exclaimed, "See you later, Care."
"See you later, Kol." Caroline said just before entering the hall as Kol walked away.
As soon as she entered the hall she became aware of the situation once more and felt a little shy. She had always felt shy around Klaus, it was strange. She wasn't uncomfortable around him, far from it, maybe a little right now because she didn't really know how to act around him since they were no longer together.
She watched as his eyes lit up and a smile appeared on his face when she arrived and her heart melted. He seemed so relieved to see her.
"You came." He stated smiling.
"Of course I came. Did you think I wouldn't?" Caroline asked a little hurt.
"I wasn't sure." Klaus admitted as he took a few steps forward, "I won't take you for granted, I never will. I will always prove myself to you because you deserve no less. I will always have to tell you how much I love you and show you how much I love you. I love you, Caroline."
Caroline swallowed her emotions, not wanting to start crying and smiled as her cheeks turned a light pink.
Klaus didn't say anything, even though it wasn't the first time he told her he loved her and she didn't say anything. She hadn't said it once since he tried to turn her. But he knew that if she didn't say it, it was because she didn't want him to believe they were back together. Or at least he hoped that was the reason despite the small part of him who thought it was because she didn't love him anymore, after all he had done. But, she had said earlier, "We love each other too much," which must have meant she still loved him, right?
"I want to take you into the village today, Love." Klaus announced masking his doubts with a smile.
"No, I mean, I don't want to go." Caroline said, declining his offer. She had to meet with Kol in two hours and it would be short notice, however that wasn't the only reason.
"Why not? You wanted to go a week ago." Klaus asked confused.
"Mikael is there." Caroline said.
"He was there a week ago too," Klaus pointed out, taking a few more steps towards her. He wanted to be closer to her. It was strange to stand like this, not touching her, usually they were always holding hands or touching each other in some regard while they spoke to each other.
"You look like you haven't slept in a week. I don't want to have a run in with Mikael while you are like this, he'll beat you up in a second," Caroline explained as softly as possible.
"He wouldn't beat me up in a second, Caroline. I am strong." Klaus stated with a huff.
"Thank you, I noticed that when you were trying to kill me." Caroline snapped and Klaus looked down in anger. Pausing Caroline spoke again, "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to bring that up," she apologized.
"It's alright." Klaus affirmed looking back up.
"Could we ride the horses instead of going into the village please?" Caroline asked and Klaus' smile came back to his lips.
"Of course. Its cold outside, go cover yourself more than that." Klaus ordered nicely and Caroline smiled before jumping happily as a small giggle escaped her lips before she ran to go put on a jacket while Klaus stayed, waiting for her in the hall.
Caroline came back a few minutes later with a jacket on and a smile adorning her lips. She was so beautiful when she was smiling, Klaus couldn't take his eyes off of her. He hadn't seen her smile in a week and he hadn't realized how much he had missed that smile until now.
Klaus opened the front door and they both walked outside in silence. They walked side by side and Caroline shivered because of the fresh air hitting her. She put her hands in the pockets of her jacket and instantly regretted not putting gloves on.
"No gloves, Miss Forbes?" Klaus asked amused and she turned toward him showing him her innocent smile.
"I forgot." she simply replied.
"You know in order to ride the horse you'll have to take your hands out of your pockets?" Klaus asked raising an eyebrow. "Don't move," And with that Klaus disappeared flashing away. Caroline looked around her and a few moments later she heard his voice.
"Behind you, love." Caroline turned around and smiled when her eyes met his blue ones. He handed her gloves and she took them before putting them on her hands grateful.
"Thank you." She said with a slight nod of her head.
"What kind of man would I be if I let your small hands freeze?" Klaus asked rhetorically.
"My hands are not small." Caroline corrected him.
Klaus raised an eyebrow once more, "Your hands are small and it's ridiculously cute."
Caroline blushed, "Stop criticizing my small hands, do I criticize your big ones?"
"No, you don't but that's because you love my hands." Klaus whispered as if it was a secret.
"Yeah, because you obviously hate mine," Caroline said falsely hurt and speeding up as if she was offended. "You don't seem to mind the size of my hand when I stroke..." Caroline trailed off realizing what she was saying before it was too late and she sped up even more but this time it was from embarrassment. She felt her cheeks burning and she could only imagine how red she must be.
Klaus smiled behind her fully understanding what she was about to say. He sped up as well and caught up with her. Coming up behind her he closed the space between them, leaning in to whisper in her ear. "I love your hands whether they are touching me or not."
Smiling at his sentiment, Caroline stayed still, "I know you do." Caroline said putting her hands in front of her and admiring them even though she had gloves.
"Although, I don't appreciate them when you slap me," He admitted.
"I'm sure you love them even when I slap you." Caroline corrected him knowing he was saying it to make a joke and not to make her uncomfortable by reminding her that she had slapped him more than once.
"Actually I do. Nothing could make me love your hands less, nothing could make me love you less." Klaus assured her and to his surprise, even though she didn't say anything Caroline stopped and placed a small peck on his cheek before starting to walk once more and soon they were at the stables.
Caroline entered stables happily, she hadn't been there in a while. She hadn't been there since the first and only time she had ridden a horse, actually. She ran towards a horse and scared it without meaning to and the horse became agitated before rearing. Caroline took a step back afraid and Klaus appeared by her side, pulling her away from the horse before going toward the horse to calm it down. Caroline recognized it was Klaus' horse. Her heart was still beating fast from the sudden fear she had felt.
"Ssh, it's okay buddy." Klaus said, instantly calming the horse down. Klaus turned toward Caroline and came up to her, "You alright?"
"Yes, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare your horse." She apologized and Klaus smiled reassuringly.
"No need to apologize. It's a horse, sweetheart." Klaus reassured her caressing her cheek with his thumb.
A few minutes later they were outside both on a horse that were walking at a slow pace. The smile was back on Caroline's face as she felt the wind whipping her face.
"Do you want to go faster?" Klaus asked and Caroline nodded, "Be careful, last time you fell." Klaus warned.
"Don't worry about me." Caroline said before her horse began galloping away from Klaus.
"Not an easy task." Klaus said to himself before taking off and catching up with her.
Her laughter was all he could hear and a wide smile appeared on his lips. It was the most beautiful sound he had ever heard, he loved it so much. He had missed it too.
After a few minutes they came back to a slower pace and Klaus decided to take that opportunity to talk to her.
"I look like I haven't slept in a week, but that's because I haven't slept in a week," Klaus admitted, looking at her intently.
"And where do you spend your nights?" Caroline asked turning her head to the right to look at him as well.
"In our room, I spend my nights looking at you, sweetheart. I'm here to reassure you when you have nightmares even though you don't know it." Klaus explained.
"I'd rather you sleep, than watch over me. I can take care of myself. You obviously can't take care of yourself." Caroline snapped angrily.
"Why are you angry?" Klaus asked confused, taken aback by her anger.
"Because you haven't slept in a week. How will you protect yourself if Mikael attacks?" Caroline raised her tone, "I don't care that I have nightmares, it's not what matters."
"It matters to me," Klaus said in a whisper.
There were a few minutes of silence after that. Of course Caroline's nightmares mattered to him. He didn't want her to suffer and feel scared even though it wasn't real, but dreams. And even if he would try to sleep in another room, he wouldn't be able to. Caroline broke the silence by changing the subject.
"You know, I would have accepted you to turn me someday." Caroline announced looking down at the reins in her hands, not wanting to meet his eyes.
Klaus felt his heart speed up, he would have an eternity with her. But his excitement soon disappeared when he realized the tense she had used.
"You 'would have'?" He asked carefully.
"We are not together anymore, so for now I don't really see the point in me turning." Caroline explained and Klaus nodded even though he didn't agree at all, he had said he would respect her choices.
"You just did it the wrong way, Klaus." Caroline exclaimed taking him by surprise.
"What do you mean?" Klaus wondered.
"The first time you asked to turn me I said no, but Mikael wasn't around yet. A week ago you didn't even bother to ask, you just assumed you would have to force it on me. The situation was different, my answer could have been different. Didn't it cross your mind that if you explained that me turning would remove Mikael's compulsion and that I would be more able to protect myself against Mikael, I would have thought about it and I might have accepted?" She asked calmly, "No, you just had to attack me and ruin everything."
"You would have accepted?" Klaus asked bewildered.
"I didn't say that, I said I might have. If the situation was different." Caroline explained, "And don't you think I would have preferred to be turned in another way besides you forcing blood down my throat and snapping my neck brutally? I know you said it wouldn't be painful, but I'm sure you can think of ways that are less brutal and scary than that."
"I didn't really think about that. For me, killing is killing no matter how you do it. My father plunged his sword into our chests to turn us." Klaus explained.
"I can imagine it was horrible." Caroline said in a whisper looking into his eyes.
"Yes, but you are right. I could have asked you and I could have drained you instead of snapping your neck for example." Klaus replied.
"No, thank you." Caroline snapped, "You keep telling me that when you feed to kill it's painful."
"Yes, but with you I would feed like I always do with you and it wouldn't be painful. It would be like slowly falling asleep in my arms and when your heart would stop beating you wouldn't even know it because you would already have passed away." Klaus explained.
"Yes, well that was an option I must admit, more appealing than having my neck broken brutally." Caroline said with her head held high. Klaus nodded ashamed of himself and Caroline sighed letting a smile appear on her lips, "I'm glad we talked about it."
"So am I." Klaus assured her.
"My bottom is starting to become sore. Can we go back?" Caroline asked blushing slightly. A smile appeared on Klaus' lips moving his horse closer to Caroline's before grabbing her around her waist without warning he pulled her onto his horse in front of him, a little yelp of surprise escaped her lips, placing her legs so her legs were on one side of the horse and her torso on the other. She was lying there, like a sack of potatos, her bottom up just so he could see it.
"Klaus!" Caroline exclaimed trying to move but he kept her in place.
"I'm just preserving your bottom, love." Klaus chuckled.
"It is not funny, Niklaus." Caroline scolded him, and Klaus helped her sit normally in front of him. As they started to move forward, Klaus had grabbed the tie of Caroline's horse and connected it to his own. Caroline had her back pressed against Klaus' chest and she could feel his breath on the back of her neck as he held the leads in front of her.
"There is another reason why I want to turn you." Klaus whispered in her ear.
"What is it?" Caroline wondered confused.
"I think you are a blood hunter." Klaus announced.
"I don't know what a blood hunter is, but I doubt I'm anything like that. I'm just an ordinary woman." Caroline said.
"A blood hunter is a vampire hunter..." Klaus started but Caroline cut him off.
"I am not such a thing." She said sternly.
"Caroline listen, I'm trying to talk to you." Klaus whispered exasperated and Caroline nodded for him to continue.
"A blood hunter is a vampire hunter but not one who does it because they want to do it. It's like the werewolf curse. It's a gene that is in some families. It's even more rare than werewolves. Vampires tried to kill them all. It is activated when they kill a vampire for the first time. I think your father was one and you are one. You have shown the symptoms since you killed Tyler." Klaus explained.
"Tyler wasn't a vampire." Caroline pointed out.
"No, but he was a supernatural being. You haven't activated the curse yet, you have just kind of woken up a little part of it. That would explain how aggressive, impulsive and jealous you've become. That could also explain your need to kill sometimes, like with Elena, and that you don't always control your actions. A blood hunter, especially a new one, has no control over anything. They see a vampire, they kill it, no matter who the vampire is. It could be a loved one, and they'd kill it mercilessly." Klaus continued.
"I'm not a blood hunter." Caroline insisted feeling afraid all of a sudden. She didn't want to be one, "Even if I was, I wouldn't kill you." She felt tears filling her eyes, she wasn't a blood hunter, she wasn't a monster that was just waiting to be unleashed.
"I think you are." Klaus insisted not seeing her face, or the fear that was there. "But I won't let you kill a vampire, I won't let you activate this curse and become something you can't control." A tear fell on his hand that was just in front of Caroline and he understood Caroline was crying. He stopped the horse and turned her around slowly so she was facing him. He cupped her face and dried her tears.
"Why are you crying?" He asked whispering.
"I'm not a monster that's just waiting to be unleashed. Why did it have to be me?" She asked sobbing, prompting Klaus to take her in his arms.
"I think nature wants to punish me, not you, love. My mate is a blood hunter. I can't stay away from my mate. I'm a vampire, a hybrid, and once my mate activates her curse she won't be able to control her urges to kill me. But I still won't be able to stay away from her because I love her way too much. Nature is trying to eliminate the abomination that I am, and my whole family which would kill every vampire on this planet." Klaus explained and Caroline looked up still in his arms.
"If I turn I won't ever be a blood hunter?" Caroline asked hopefully.
"That's what we believe." Klaus said.
"If I ever activate the curse can you promise me you'll lock me up? You'll kill me." Caroline asked and Klaus pushed her away from him abruptly, being careful seeing as they were still on the horse.
"What? No. Caroline, I won't let you activate this curse." Klaus said seriously. Caroline nodded and kept her arms around Klaus as he let go of her to take back the leads of the horse and they started to move forward once more. Caroline didn't let go of Klaus once the whole way back to the stables and when they reached it they both climbed off of the horse. Caroline watched as Klaus put both horses back in their stalls and then he came back toward her.
"You are cold, you should take a bath as soon as we are inside." Klaus suggested.
"No, I have something else to do. But I will later." She said. Klaus nodded and smiled. He started to walk side to side with Caroline and she grabbed his hand slowly looking at the house and not at Klaus to act as if she wasn't doing anything. Klaus squeezed her hand.
"Do you want to take it with me?" She proposed and Klaus looked at her surprised.
"Are you sure?" He asked.
"I am sure." She confirmed.
"Then yes, it would be a pleasure." Klaus agreed and Caroline smiled.
Caroline entered the bedroom still sweaty from her first training with Kol. Rebekah hadn't been kidding when she had said he wouldn't be as careful as Klaus. He had pinned her on the floor more than once and hadn't been really gentle with his movements.
She entered the bathroom to see that a hot bath was already filled, and realized Klaus must have ordered it. Klaus was on the side of the bathroom bare chested and about to shave.
"I like when you have stubble." Caroline said and Klaus turned toward her smiling.
"Is it your way of telling me not to shave today?" Klaus asked amused and Caroline nodded smiling.
"I really want to take that bath right now." She explained and Klaus nodded.
Caroline approached Klaus and turned around and Klaus knew that she wanted him to unfasten her laces. Once he did so Caroline quickly took off her dress climbing in the bathtub and entered the hot water with a moan. She closed her eyes and relaxed. Soon Klaus slightly pushed her back so he could slide in behind her but Caroline kept her eyes closed and once Klaus was seated he positioned her so she was lying on him with her back against his chest. He unfastened her hair and let her curls drop freely and beautifully, pushing her hair to one side. He kissed her neck and then nibbled her earlobe.
"Are we together?" He whispered and Caroline nodded keeping her eyes closed, "Always and forever?"
"Always and forever." Caroline repeated with a nod.
Klaus smiled and reveled in the way she was comfortable with him. They were in the water after all but she was so relaxed. He slowly massaged her shoulders kissing her hair and then caressed her arms looking at his movements. His eyes landed on a small bruise on her upper arm. His fingers stayed there.
"Where did you get this?" He asked. Caroline opened her eyes and looked at her arm to discover the small bruise.
"I'm not supposed to tell you, but Kol is teaching me how to fight. I had my first lesson with him today." She explained.
"I'll have a word with him, he could be more gentle." Klaus growled.
"I don't want him to hold back. There is a reason if I asked him and not you." Caroline explained, staying calm and closing her eyes once more.
"He is a vampire and you are human, of course he has to hold back." Klaus insisted.
"If one day Mikael attacks me, he won't hold back. And I suck at fighting anyways, Kol was exasperated." Caroline commented and she could see and feel that Klaus was still a little tense and worried. She turned around in his arms and straddled him.
"I love you." She whispered before kissing his lips tenderly.
"I love you too." Klaus said against her lips before kissing her back.
Caroline brought her hands in his hair as Klaus circled her waist with his arms. He pushed her a little up and left her lips to kiss her nipples, licking them, sucking them, nibbling them. Caroline moaned loudly massaging Klaus' scalp with her fingers. She rubbed her core against his hard manhood under the water and Klaus growled in pleasure.
"Caroline..." He moaned against her supple skin.
Caroline continued to rub herself against him trying to make him enter her without using her hands, because she couldn't with the way he was holding her against him but she failed. She moaned and growled in frustration. Klaus chuckled before helping her and entering her in one thrust. Caroline screamed out loud in pleasure as she stayed motionless for a few seconds, keeping him inside of her.
After a few seconds she started moving her hips against him in a way that had her clit rub against his pelvic bone and his manhood move inside of her. Her hands dropped from his head to his shoulders and she closed her eyes enjoying the way he was moving inside of her.
Klaus kept his arms around her helping her in her movement. Her movements were slow and sensual and she was beautiful. She was making love to him, she was loving him. The water was splashing out of the bath but they didn't care, they were too lost in each other, moaning each other's name.
After a few minutes Klaus changed the position, the water was starting to get cold so he stood up still inside of her with her in his arms. She opened her eyes, taken aback by the sudden loss of the water around her. He stepped out of the tub pulling out of Caroline who growled in disagreement. He kept her in his arms and bent down to grab a towel. He walked in the bedroom and put the towel dismissively on the bed before placing Caroline on it. He spread her legs open and kneeled at the end of the bed before attacking her core with his tongue. Caroline moaned and dropped her head backward moving her hips against his mouth.
Just when she was about to come he stopped and climbed on the top of her. He took her legs and placed them on his shoulders and Caroline let him do it even though she had no idea what he was doing and before she knew it he was back inside of her, only this time deeper than he had been earlier and with a new angle Caroline had never experienced before. And it was good. She moaned as he started to move slowly inside of her.
"Faster," She requested breathlessly and Klaus obliged accelerating his thrusts, "Yes, just like that." She moaned loudly her breathe short. And soon she was exploding around him, her orgasm hitting her like a wrecking ball. Her walls pulsed around Klaus and he let go filling her with his orgasm as well. He took Caroline's legs off of his shoulders and pulled out of her, letting himself fall next to her and pulling her so she was lying on his chest.
Klaus soon fell asleep for the first time that week and it was with Caroline in his arms. He was exhausted but he hadn't been able to sleep without her, knowing she didn't want to be close to him. And now he could finally rest. They were now both dry.
Caroline kissed his chest before standing up and he didn't move, he must have been so exhausted. She walked toward the wardrobe and put a simple white dress on. She took some blankets that were in another wardrobe and came back to the bed to cover Klaus with it seeing as he was naked. She took the towel that was now wet and went back in the bathroom to put it in there. She looked at the bathtub and decided she would empty it later. She went back next to Klaus and lied back down with him putting herself in his arms.
Caroline stayed like this for at least an hour before standing up once more and leaving the room. She had only set a foot out of the room that someone grabbed her putting a hand over her mouth as she tried to scream. She fought and did her best but it was of no use. And then she heard his voice. How had he entered the castle with all the hybrids around?
"You will stop moving and you will tell me the truth and nothing but the truth." Mikael whispered and Caroline stopped moving, "I will take off my hand and you won't say a word except to answer my questions."
He let go of her and Caroline find it impossible to move and to scream or talk. He went in front of her to face her and he had this disgusting smile on his face.
"Tell me, beautiful, what would be the worst way to die for you?" He asked nicely but his intentions where far from it.
"Drowning," Caroline said against her will.
"Interesting," Mikael commented. "Can I drown you somewhere in this castle? If yes, where?"
"Yes, the bath in the bathroom of Klaus' room is still filled." Caroline informed him, the fear evident in her voice and Mikael's face lit up.
"Perfect." He commented once more, "Ayelle." He called and a woman appeared, Caroline hadn't noticed her before.
"Yes, Mikael?" She asked.
"We will go in the bathroom. We'll have to be quiet, Niklaus is asleep in the room. Once in the bathroom you'll put a spell so he can't enter it." Mikael ordered with a cold voice and Ayelle, who was a witch apparently, nodded.
Mikael took Caroline in his arms but she couldn't move or talk or scream so she just let him do it. He opened the door quietly and flashed in the bathroom. Ayelle arrived a few seconds later. Caroline wished they had woken Klaus up but they hadn't. Mikael put Caroline down and turned toward Ayelle, watching her as she started to chant not saying the words out loud, only her moving lips were the proof that she was chanting.
"It's done." Ayelle announced after a minute or two.
"Let the show begin then!" Mikael said darkly before turning toward Caroline, "Is Niklaus aware of your fear of drowning?"
"Yes," Caroline answered once more against her will. This situation was horrible.
"You can talk now, but wake Niklaus without alarming him, from here," Mikael ordered. "And once he's here you can say whatever you want, you can scream, pray, cry. I don't care."
"Klaus?" Caroline called not sounding scared even though she was terrified, "Klaus can you come over here, please?"
She heard him growl, unhappy that she was waking him, "I'm coming, just a minute."
Caroline wanted to scream and tell him not to come, but she couldn't. A few seconds later Klaus appeared in the doorway, fortunately he was dressed. His eyes widened and Caroline recognized the fear in them, fear for her. He tried to enter the bathroom but it was as if there was an invisible wall keeping him from doing it.
"Let her go, Mikael!" Klaus yelled, "Let her go or I'll rip you apart."
"Ah, always the impulsive little boy as I can see," Mikael mocked him.
"Klaus, go away." Caroline screamed as tears fell down her cheeks, "Go away."
"No!" Klaus snapped, he started to hit the invisible wall with his closed fists, "She is innocent, let her go."
"Your mother was innocent too, Niklaus," Mikael said with a dark voice. "Enter the tub," He ordered Caroline and she did as he commanded. The water was cold by now and she shivered when she entered it.
"Don't do this, please." Caroline begged, and Mikael laughed. And his laugh was terrifying.
"You can move as you wish now, my sweet Caroline," Mikael said and Caroline tried to jump out of the water but Mikael grabbed her shoulders keeping her in place. "It wouldn't be fun if you were not fighting," Mikael said sadistically.
"Mikael no please. Not her, kill me, it's me that you want to kill," Klaus screamed desperately. He heard someone enter the room but he didn't even bother to look. Elijah and Rebekah appeared next to him, "Call Bonnie." Klaus growled at his siblings.
"They hit her head and she passed out, Kol is with her now," Elijah informed and Klaus screamed in anger and despair hitting the invisible wall once more.
"Klaus it's alright, I'm ready. I love you." Caroline said with a trembling voice. But she was far from ready, she was terrified and she didn't want to die. But she had to be strong for Klaus, she had to be strong for him.
"Now, now, see Niklaus? She is ready. We are gonna play a game, what is it the children sing?" Mikael asked thinking, "Ah yes, one, two, I'm coming for you." And he plunged Caroline's face under the water. Caroline fought to come out of the water but he was too strong and all Klaus could see were her arms and legs moving in every way. But Mikael didn't keep her long under the water and quickly let her come up for air.
Caroline took a large breathe in her lungs as a sob escaped her lips, "Stop! Please! Let me go!" She screamed and Mikael laughed. She looked at Klaus too see that he was trying to destroy the invisible wall with his fists, but it was of no use. Rebekah had her hands over her mouth with tears streaming down her cheeks, asking Klaus to stop.
"Three, four, you better lock your door," Mikael continued to sing as he plunged Caroline's head under water once more, keeping her there a little longer than before. When he took her out of the water Caroline didn't have the force to look toward Klaus to watch him suffer on the other side of that invisible wall so she fixed a point on outside that she could see through the window of the bathroom and let the tears drop down her cheeks.
"Caroline, Caroline, look at me." She heard Klaus yell, but she didn't look at him.
"Five, six, better grab some sticks," Mikael said chuckling darkly putting Caroline's head underwater. He took her head out of the water after a few seconds.
"Caroline please, look at me," Klaus yelled and she turned her head to look at him. He looked so sad and desperate.
"I'm sorry." She whispered.
"It won't be long now," Mikael said. "Seven, eight, better evacuate," and once more Caroline's face was underwater but once more Mikael took it quickly out. Caroline turned toward Klaus knowing the next time would be her last.
"Take him away," She screamed to Elijah and Rebekah. "I love you." She whispered to Klaus. She didn't want him to see her die, he didn't need to see this. Elijah and Rebekah grabbed him but he pushed them away forcefully.
"No," He screamed. "Don't touch me."
"Nik..." Rebekah sobbed.
"Nine, ten, never breathe again," they heard Mikael say with a scary voice as he plunged Caroline's head under water once more.
"No, Caroline, I love you," Klaus screamed.
He watched as she fought, she fought so hard, her arms and legs were moving in every way. But Mikael kept her underwater, after a few seconds her movements started to slow down and Mikael still had his sadistic smile on his lips. Klaus continued to hit the invisible wall until her movements stopped as well as her heartbeats. It all stopped, there wasn't a single noise anymore, as if everything had died with her. She was dead. Klaus watched as Mikael took her body out of the water and put it on the floor. She was pale and she was not moving anymore, she was dead.
But it wasn't enough for Mikael, he would let Klaus touch her body have her in his arms and then he would take her body away from him so Klaus had nothing left. So he opened the window and jumped out of it, the witch followed him and stopped the spell. Klaus ran in the bathroom thinking, Mikael was gone, and he dropped on his knees next to Caroline. He took her lifeless body in his arms and cried. He let himself cry, balancing her dead body in his arms. Kissing her lips even though they weren't kissing him back. He didn't even notice Rebekah and Elijah leaving to let him be alone with her, but they did, even though Elijah had to drag Rebekah.
Caroline was dead, in his arms, unmoving, without a heartbeat.
"I love you." Klaus whispered, she looked like an angel with her white dress, she was an angel, she was his angel.
And then a horrible pain hit Klaus and he let go of Caroline, but to be honest he didn't mind the pain, it was nothing compared to the pain he had in his chest right now. He saw Mikael coming back and he tried to stand up to kill that bastard but he couldn't, something was keeping him down, surely a spell. He watched, powerless as Mikael took Caroline's body and disappeared with it.
Caroline was dead and gone. And so was Klaus, nothing but a heartless monster was left.
