Hey guys sorry about the wait, hope this chapter makes up for it and will suit you for a bit until the next one.
Now this chapter we will introduce Slughorn to Harry and Vega, y'know the usual stuff and all with him wanting to 'collect' prize students in his club and everything. Expect a little drama from Romilda and some fangirls, probably something for Pansy too.
I'll need to go back and recount the votes for the baby's gender, but I think I know which one it is.
Written by myself and my sister author AnnaBoleyna1536, and we don't own Harry Potter.
Enjoy!
The next day:
"So did you two have a good time last night?" Ron asked only to get slapped by Hermione. Harry was in the Great Hall eating with his house, without Vega who had stayed behind in their bedroom.
"That's not your business Ronald; get your mind out of the gutter."
"What it's just a question?"
"It's a personal thing Ron, wouldn't want people asking you that would you?" Harry laughed. "Besides we did have fun, Vega's tired though so she'll be in class a bit late."
"Won't she get in trouble?" Harry shook his head.
"All the teachers know of her condition, she just has to do her work and turn it in on time like the rest of us." that was said and done, Dumbledore had told all the staff about Vega's pregnancy, so they would give her leniency as long as she behaved and did her school work. She would have most of her classes with Harry and Sabina, including sixth year potions which of course she signed up for and took a test to be sure she would do well in the class.
"Hi Harry." the golden trio looked up to see Romilda Vane smiling at Harry. "Can I sit with you?"
"No thanks." he tried to keep eating.
"Why not? No one else is sitting here…"
"Because I don't want anyone else sitting by me right now, plus my wife would skin you if she saw you here."
"And where is your wife today?" she looked smug.
"She is ill right now but will be joining me later, for now I would like to finish my breakfast in peace. So go away."
"C'mon Harry just let me sit with you?"
"He said no Vane, now leave." Hermione's voice got loud, and Romilda took off to her end of the table. "She's lucky Vega wasn't here, I think her wolf would take a bite and spit her back out." they laughed. "Look over there Harry." Harry looked over at the Slytherin table, while he saw Draco and Sabina talking nicely he spotted Zabini at the very end glaring at them.
"If he knows what's good for him he'll leave Vega alone, he almost got expelled last time."
"And this time he's out of luck, Vega's with me and I'll do what I have to in order to keep her safe." that was a promise he was going to keep.
"Speaking of Vega, here she comes." Vega came strolling into the Great Hall with her uniform on and her hair tied back.
"Hey love." Harry kissed her.
"Morning everyone, oh this looks good." she sat down next to him.
"Are you sure you can eat it Vega?" Hermione whispered.
"I can, I just need to be careful." she started to eat and drank water so as it would calm her stomach. Morning sickness had Vega up at six, but she told Harry just to let her be and sleep. "Harry…Slughorn's staring at us." Harry turned seeing the old man smiling at them, and waved when he did.
"He's just curious about the Great Harry Potter and his new wife…don't worry I'm sure it'll die down." Ron went back to eating sausage.
"C'mon now let's eat, we have a long day ahead of us." Vega carefully ate her food; she couldn't starve herself because the baby needed food. When she finished Harry took her bag for her, and they walked with their friends off to their first class in Potions.
"Wait…Vega is it safe for you to go into this class?" Hermione had to ask.
"Yeah, I took a potion Snape gave me I'll be fine." they walked in, and were greeted by none other than the new professor Horace Slughorn.
"Ah welcome one and all to year six potions." he seemed to be a happy man, a little too happy. "Everyone please gather your books and pick a station." Harry of course took Vega to his own station in the front after grabbing a spare book from the closet, Hermione and Ron behind them and the rest just came in. Harry even noticed Pansy Parkinson trying to get near Draco, but he picked Goyle.
'This should be interesting.' he saw some vials on Slughorn's desk.
"Welcome everyone, now to begin today's lesson I have prepared some potions early this morning and I would like to test your knowledge. Who can tell me which potion is which?" Hermione raised her hand. "Yes Ms…?"
"Granger sir…" Hermione approached the desk. "That one is Veritaserum, a powerful truth telling serum with no smell or flavor so it's easily concealed in a drink or food. That one is polyjuice potion, used to turn someone into someone else temporarily, tricky to make, and this one is Amortentia…the world's most powerful love potion. To anyone given, it gives off a smell to whatever attracts them making it more tempting to drink."
"And what do you smell Ms. Granger?"
"I smell…" she took a small whiff. "Freshly mown grass, parchment, and spearmint toothpaste." she backed away.
"Excellent, ten points to Gryffindor; now a little fact about Amortentia, it cannot create actual love, no that would be impossible but what it can cause is serious infatuation or obsession, and for that reason alone it's probably the most dangerous potion in this room." he closed off all the potions. "And this one here…" he pulled out a tiny vial with clear liquid inside. "Is Felix Felicis, or Liquid Luck as some know. It can grant you good luck through your toughest endeavors, at least until the effects wear off. Now this potion is desperately tricky to make but disastrous should anyone get it wrong, it will be the prize to the student who can create an acceptable 'Draught of Living Death', on page ten of your books in the hour that remains. You'll find everything you need around the classroom, now off to work." everyone went about to collect their ingredients.
Vega seemed calm about the potion, then again she had Snape for a godfather and she had better skills but in the book Harry had taken from the closet, it had writing on it inside.
This book is property of the Halfblood Prince
'Halfblood prince?' strange, but the instructions were still clear to read inside. He began to work, but he noticed notes inside changing the instructions. He nudged Vega, and she saw it too.
"Try them out, see what it does but be careful." she whispered before going back to her own potion.
"Right." he followed the instructions as suit, but when he glanced around at the others they seemed to be having some trouble with their own potions. Hermione even seemed a little frustrated, and her hair was frizzing from the steam of the cauldrons making it bushier than before. She had tamed it to some tight curls, but the steam wasn't helping.
Harry's potion was coming along nicely, even with the notes it surprised him greatly. He'd never had it easy in potions before, but if this was a good start it would help. Something about Slughorn was off though, Harry couldn't tell what.
"Excuse me sir…" Harry finished the last step and raised his hand. "I'm finished."
"Oh? Let's see then." Slughorn walked over and looked into the cauldron. "Oh my, it looks right but let's test it." he pulled out a leaf, dropped it into the liquid only to watch it disintegrate on the surface. "Merlin's beard…it's absolutely perfect!"
"I'm done too sir." Vega motioned and he checked hers too. Vega's wasn't as powerful as Harry's but it was still good."
"Well done Ms. Malfoy, five points to Gryffindor. Is anyone else done?" Draco raised his hand, and his was good too like Vega's. "Well done to you too Mr. Malfoy, ten points to Slytherin. Anyone else?" no one else raised their hands. "Ah well it seems class is about over, and the only one able to make such a fine brew would be none other than you Mr. Potter so here is your reward." he held out the vial of Felix Felicis. "Congratulations and please, use it well." he handed the vial to Harry.
"Thank you sir."
"Yes, what more can I expect from the son of Lily Potter?" he smiled a kind smile, but Harry was a bit confused. As the rest of the class left Vega and Harry remained behind.
"Sir, you knew my mother?"
"Yes indeed, she was one of my best students dear boy as was your father Ms. Malfoy." he motioned to a shelf with photos everywhere. "There she is there, a member of my very own Slug Club only for my prized students." Harry saw his mum, she was smiling and so beautifully. He also spotted a younger Lucius, long blonde hair and all but his eyes were cold in the picture.
"Wow…is that Regulus?" Vega pointed at a picture, of a boy who looked almost exactly like Sirius.
"Yes that is Sirius Black's younger brother, I've taught many Blacks for ages and though I didn't get Sirius Regulus was a good student. His brother had a knack for trouble, but he was good at heart I knew that much." Harry had to smirk.
"True, he and my dad weren't the best of students." Slughorn laughed.
"Oh before I forget, would you two like to join the Slug Club? And if you are would you mind asking Ms. Granger and Mr. Malfoy as well?" both students were taken off guard by this.
"Umm…sure sir I'd love to." Vega agreed.
"If she is then I will also."
"Wonderful, and just so you know I'm having a little dinner party this Saturday evening and all members of the club are invited. Shall I see you there?"
"Of course sir." they said.
"Ah perfect, oh and plus congratulations on your marriage Mr. Potter, Ms. Malfoy. I normally can tell a good match when I see it and you two are it."
"Thank you sir."
"You're welcome, now be off before you're late for your next class." they nodded and left holding hands.
"We have DADA next right?" Vega asked.
"Yeah, and you know how Snape may have the class?" Vega nodded. "Let's be prepared." they walked down the corridors and towards the dungeons but Vega began to sway. "Are you alright?"
"Fine, just dizzy." she smiled. "It's normal I just need to be careful." they continued walking until they reached the doors of Snape's new classroom.
"Mr. Potter, Ms. Malfoy you're five minutes late, five points from Gryffindor."
"Sorry sir." they said, and went to their desks.
"Now for today's lesson…turn to your books and open the chapter about Inferi. I want you to read it over, and during class write me a twelve-inch essay about the inferi and have it done before class is over. Fail to do so, and I'll have you write a twenty four inch essay for homework and expect it back tomorrow morning. Get to work." they did so, all rushing to go but Vega remained calm. Harry didn't fully understand how she could handle doing so much work, but then again she was a bit smarter than him so it was in a way fine.
'An essay…this is going to be a long morning.'
Two hours later:
"That essay was bloody killer." Harry sighed as he and Vega left DADA. "And the homework he gave after…he won't let us break." Severus had given them pages to study for a test in the next class, a hard one.
"He's just strict that's all Harry, I'd think you'd be used to it by now." Vega laughed.
"Still bloody sucks." he grumbled.
"Oh hush." she swatted his arm playfully. "So where are you going to now?"
"The library, Hermione and I have a free period and she said she'd help with this essay if I helped her with potions."
"Speaking of which Harry, that book you were using…" he stopped her at the hall.
"Let's not bring that up just yet alright? We can talk about it tonight in our rooms."
"Alright love, whatever you say." she kissed his cheek. "See you at lunch."
"You too, take it easy." he kissed her lips and took off down the corridors. Vega sighed happily, how in the world was she so lucky to have a soul mate like Harry? Any girl would be lucky to have him, but he was hers…fate just shined on them both.
"Hey Malfoy." Vega let go of her little dreamland episode when she heard Vane's voice.
"What?" Vega's Malfoy mask came on.
"We want to know how you tricked Potter into marrying you." one of the other girls demanded. "We know your family is dark, how else would he have done it?"
"Not this again…" she groaned. "I don't care what any of you think, Harry is my soul mate and I did not trick him into anything. Besides Harry's not stupid, if he thought I was tricking him he wouldn't have married me."
"His godfather is also your cousin right? No doubt being a bad influence on Harry, he was in Azkaban after all."
"He was framed and cleared thank you, now if you're going to berate me more on the dumb delusions running in your small minds then I'm going to be late for Charms class. You can believe what you want, but Harry is my soul mate and no one is going to wreck that." the girls all went red in anger, especially Vane.
"You must've slipped him a love potion or something."
"No I think that's more on you, hell I'm surprised Ginny Weasley isn't in your little fan group. Then again she's likely worse than the lot of you, now I have to go."
"Potter will see you for what you truly are Malfoy, you don't deserve him!" she ignored that last comment and left into the corridor. Vega almost reached the hall to Charms but stopped when she heard Sabina's voice.
"Leave me alone Parkinson." yes that was Sabina.
"Who's gonna make me Sanguine? I still need to make you pay for taking my Draco, so why not start now?" Vega looked around a corner and she saw Parkinson's group surrounding her friend with Pansy holding her wand.
"Give me my wand you tramp!" Sabina was being held back by two girls.
"Tramp? No that would be you…now what shall I do with this?" Parkinson fingered the wand a bit, but when her hands moved to the middle as if to break it Vega wouldn't wait anymore.
"Give her wand back Parkinson." Vega appeared.
"Well well if it isn't the blood traitor, shouldn't you be with your half-blood hubby right now?"
"I'm not going to tell you again Parkinson, leave Sabina alone and back off or you'll regret it." she growled. Vega's pregnancy would make it harder to turn into her wolf, but she would do what she had to for her friend.
"And what'll you do if I don't?" Vega pulled out her own wand.
"You want to risk that?" her hard stare came back. "Do you remember what I did to Zabini?" Pansy's expression went from hard and cruel to unsure, she knew Vega's power.
"You heard her Parkinson, give Sanguine her wand back." Ron came around the corner.
"Great another blood traitor, so not worth my time." Pansy tossed Sabina's wand at her head, and it hit her nose hard.
"Ow!" Sabina held her nose, it started to bleed.
"Ms. Parkinson!" Professor Flitwick showed up. "Twenty points from Slytherin and detention tonight with Professor Snape, I guarantee that you won't like it. Ms. Malfoy you can escort Ms. Sanguine to the infirmary, Mr. Weasley…five points to Gryffindor for defending the girls."
"Thanks professor, I'll go with them if that's alright?"
"Fine, don't you have class though?"
"No sir, I have a free period."
"Ah very well, go along now and girls you don't have to come to class but I expect essays about the charms on page twenty-six of your books, a parchment roll long."
"Yes sir." they nodded and took off towards the wing.
"Thanks for your help Ron."
"You're welcome; I figured things would be like this. This is just a start though."
"Yeah, just need to hang in there…Slughorn though, something's off with him."
"I saw it too, Mione also. Harry said he's going to talk to Dumbledore soon, but he also said that you should keep your guard up."
"I will." they walked on to the hospital wing, but as they got closer and closer Vega couldn't help but feel something else was amiss about everything.
I hope you liked it, cuz it might be a while before the next one is up.
Next chapter I will have Harry and Dumbledore talking, and more on Slughorn as well. No one is going to find out about Vega's pregnancy yet, maybe in the chapter after the next one. I'm not sure on that yet, but I'll have it figured out soon.
Also I've posted a new story called 'Neutral Blood', and that will be updated next so if you're interested please read and review.
