5 months ago, Inari left because she needed space from her husband. Their marriage was failing and they couldn't agree on anything to make it right. So Inari went her own way. Now here it is 5 months later. As she walks through the city Inari sees the restaurant where she told Tezuka to meet her at. She walks in, as she looks around her eyes recognize him sitting at a table clutching a cup of coffee in his hands. She walks over to him slightly smiling.
"Hello, Kunimitsu."
Tezuka turns around to look at her. She smiles at him. He stood up then gaze down at her. She closes the space between them took him in her arms. He held her tightly as she breathes in his scent. They release each other then sat down.
"It's been a while." He nods. "5 months." He looks away then stirs his drink with a straw.
"How you been?"
He didn't say anything. For a minute he was silent. She stares at him until he finally spoke.
"I'm fine." She nods. "That's good. How about Tennis? I heard you won a Tournament. Congratulations." He sigh. "Thanks."
I'm worried. His personality is different. It was like when we first met. He's silent and uninterested in anything. "How is everyone else? Are they doing alright?" Tezuka stares at his drink then sigh. "Kunimitsu?"
He took a sip cup of his Coffee. "They're fine." Inari nods. "Are you okay? You look depressed and angry." He looks at her. "I'm fine. It's perfectly natural for a husband to look like this when his wife left him for 5 months."
"Well... I'm sorry but, you kind of had it coming."
Tezuka crosses his arms. She can tell he wants to explode from being upset. "What makes you think I deserve this?" Inari sigh. "How can you forget? You were seeing another woman." Tezuka bangs his fist on the table, making her jump. "I wasn't cheating!"
"I know that. I was pissed at you because you lied to me about everything. How could you do that to me Kunimitsu?" He sigh. "How could I? How could you just pack your things and leave me? I waited for you to come home." She rolls her eyes. "Oh, just like how I sat on the couch and waited for you to come home every night. Now you know how it feels."
He sighs then fix his glasses. "I apologize. I thought Melia wanted to be friends. I let my guard down and she tricked me. I never thought something like that would happen. What I'm saying is the truth, nothing happened between me and her."
"You don't have to explain to me. I know nothing happened. I was pissed because you keep secrets from me and now look at what happened, were not together."
Tezuka sigh. "I know this is all my fault." Inari took his hand and entwine her fingers with his. "It's not all your fault. It's my fault too. She was right. I wasn't being a good wife. I was being childish. When I left I miss you. I wanted to come back home but I wasn't ready."
"By not coming back? You think leaving was enough to teach me a lesson? I was furious when you left me that night. I thought about you a lot. Inari this separation is not working for me." Tezuka released her hand. "I need my wife to be next to me. I need you, by my side."
"And I need my husband next to me. I want to come home." He takes her hand. "So come home." Inari smile. "Okay." Tezuka is relieved. "Thank you. I called you here to try and convince you to come back home. I guess I didn't need to."
Tezuka takes her wedding rings out his pocket and took hold of her hand. "Can you put this back on now?" Inari sigh. "Not yet."
"Why?" She looks away. "I won't wear my wedding ring until our marriage is fixed. For now, just keep it." Tezuka nods. "I understand."
When Inari returned home the couple was alright for that one day only. Then, they fell apart. Tezuka found Oshitari's number in Inari's dresser drawer. Inari can't believe she kept it. She was only going to use it to prank him. When Tezuka confronted her about it. He asks was she talking to him. Inari said no, Kunimitsu called her a liar and that's when the arguments started again. Inari couldn't believe him. She never called Oshitari. NEVER! But Tezuka didn't want to believe it. More arguments started so Inari packed her things again then head towards the door.
She stares at Tezuka. He glances at her then look away. She tries to kiss him goodbye but he rejects her then walked away.
"Just leave Inari."
He took his Tennis racket and head to the backyard. Inari stares at him one more time then make her way out the door. Tezuka didn't watch her leave. The blank expression on his face turns into a frown. It hurts him to see her go. She didn't want to leave but their marriage is fucked up.
